Speaker 6: Morning.
Speaker 2: Welcome everyone. Of course, today is Saturday, October twenty five,
Speaker 2: twenty twenty five. Just a quick note for our live
Speaker 2: listeners this morning. By the way, So if you're looking
Speaker 2: for the show on the Facebook, where we usually stream
Speaker 2: the video of the show, a software issue is this
Speaker 2: is a weird one. This is one I have not
Speaker 2: encountered before. There's some kind of software issue that's preventing
Speaker 2: us from streaming the show to Facebook. But we are
Speaker 2: streaming the video feed of the show to YouTube, and
Speaker 2: let's see, we're also streaming it to LinkedIn. I never
Speaker 2: mentioned it, but we do stream the show to LinkedIn
Speaker 2: as well, and I'm even streaming it to Rumble because
Speaker 2: I do have it set up to stream to Rumble.
Speaker 2: I don't think anybody's ever going to actually watch the
Speaker 2: show on Rumble, but I do have a Rumble account
Speaker 2: and I am streaming the show to it and it
Speaker 2: seems to be working. But for some reason the Facebook,
Speaker 2: none of the Facebook pages are accepting the feed. I
Speaker 2: don't know why. I don't know if it might be
Speaker 2: a software issue here or it might be something to
Speaker 2: do with my Facebook settings on my various pages. You know,
Speaker 2: we have my personal page and the Matt Connerton Unleashed
Speaker 2: page and we we stream it to both of those usually,
Speaker 2: but neither of those is working this morning, so I
Speaker 2: don't know what is the deal with that. I'm gonna
Speaker 2: have to figure that out. But of course you can
Speaker 2: stream the audio of the show. It is first and
Speaker 2: foremost of radio show. Go to Matt Connerton dot com,
Speaker 2: slash live and if you're in the local Manchester, New
Speaker 2: Hampshire area, you can tune into your FM dial at
Speaker 2: ninety five point three. So here we are, and we've
Speaker 2: got a great show for you coming up. In just
Speaker 2: a couple of minutes. Rivia, a great band from the UK,
Speaker 2: is going to be joining us. We're gonna be talking
Speaker 2: about We haven't talked since their newest single came out,
Speaker 2: Piece of View. Love that track. We feature it many
Speaker 2: times on the show, very often we play it. I
Speaker 2: will find any excuse I can to play it. And
Speaker 2: they're starting to make inroads in American radio as well.
Speaker 2: They're having a lot of success in the UK so
Speaker 2: we're gonna speak with them in a few minutes, and
Speaker 2: let's see, in the second hour we have Kevin Kirstat,
Speaker 2: who is going by the stage name k t K.
Speaker 2: He's gonna be here with us in studio. And then
Speaker 2: in the third hour we have Euphemea or Euphemia, I'm
Speaker 2: not sure how to say it, but we'll find out.
Speaker 2: Great band from Portland though. I was listening to them
Speaker 2: yesterday and uh, they've got a lot of really good music.
Speaker 2: They sent us their full album and it's so good.
Speaker 2: So we have a very busy, very full show for
Speaker 2: you today. Let's see.
Speaker 6: So oh I want to give a show?
Speaker 2: Yeah, oh yes, yes absolutely, fis.
Speaker 6: I had an awesome lift driver this morning, Ralph. Thank
Speaker 6: you so much for helping me run back grab what
Speaker 6: I mistakenly left behind and got back here in time
Speaker 6: to start to show.
Speaker 2: Yes, thank you very good. Yes, thank you, Ralph. So
Speaker 2: I think what we're gonna do is, uh, in a moment,
Speaker 2: we're going to play the newest single as I mentioned,
Speaker 2: from Rivia, such a great band and I love this song.
Speaker 2: This is one of those songs I cannot get enough of.
Speaker 2: And then we're going to have them on the line
Speaker 2: with us via WhatsApp. No, they did not travel all
Speaker 2: the way from the UK to be with us to way. Yeah,
Speaker 2: that's something we have not had yet. You know, we've
Speaker 2: we've had a lot of touring artists from the area.
Speaker 2: I mean not from the area rather, but who are
Speaker 2: coming through the area, I should say, who will come
Speaker 2: in and sit down with us? But uh, but we
Speaker 2: have not had anyone come from the UK specifically to
Speaker 2: visit the show. That would be something I would imagine
Speaker 2: that would be a very very expensive trip. But we're
Speaker 2: gonna play this again. This is the newest single from Rivia.
Speaker 2: This is called Piece of You. I love this song.
Speaker 2: And then uh, and then when we come back from that,
Speaker 2: we should have them on the line via WhatsApp, And
Speaker 2: then I think at the end of our conversation we'll
Speaker 2: play another great Rivia track that I love. And I
Speaker 2: believe we were the first American radio station, by the way,
Speaker 2: to play this BANDY very proud of that. It's such
Speaker 2: a good band. But if you have not heard this yet,
Speaker 2: you're in for something. This is such a great song.
Speaker 2: It gets stuck in my head every time I hear it.
Speaker 2: This is called Piece of you and this is the
Speaker 2: newest single from Rivia.
Speaker 4: You right up.
Speaker 7: I don't want to be like show recognizable from the person.
Speaker 8: Probably don't wait, Hill, don't wait, chow.
Speaker 4: Now ain't long?
Speaker 9: God?
Speaker 4: How didn't love?
Speaker 3: No brocky k.
Speaker 4: That ain't long guy, Now ain't love? God?
Speaker 10: Can say I didn't hit the ring set, but I
Speaker 10: don't want to start. John said, ain't don't please like choke.
Speaker 10: Betty started like you want star Suddy who wasn't what
Speaker 10: your wanter?
Speaker 4: He said?
Speaker 3: Jo why John is sun?
Speaker 2: We can't waste some min and we want to waste
Speaker 2: some minutes a jo ways some man, don't.
Speaker 5: Wait child, that ain't long, guy, I ain't loguy.
Speaker 4: My blacky yard guy, that ain't long guy, that ain't long?
Speaker 11: M h.
Speaker 3: I've got that sick chim feeling what we used to feeling.
Speaker 2: I don't know what to do.
Speaker 3: I still love he shook you.
Speaker 7: I got that sick chim feeling out right now.
Speaker 3: I know where still I don't know what sometime sell
Speaker 3: no wait.
Speaker 4: Long long long God?
Speaker 3: No, Saint Jeff very not always to him? No, so
Speaker 3: sell sell.
Speaker 2: Yow, Oh there it is. I love it. That is
Speaker 2: such a great track piece of you. The band is
Speaker 2: Rivia and let's see. I know we've got members of
Speaker 2: the band on the line. Let's see who we've got.
Speaker 2: Welcome everybody, can you hear me? Oh, it's always such
Speaker 2: a relief when this works. You know, these international calls
Speaker 2: don't always go as planned. Welcome to the show, Welcome back,
Speaker 2: I should say. I know you've been on before, but
Speaker 2: it's been a while since we've talked. Uh, who do
Speaker 2: we have? Who do we have with us from the band?
Speaker 12: Full house all of us?
Speaker 13: Oh?
Speaker 2: Nice, nice, wonderful. So how are things, Uh, how are
Speaker 2: things going over there? Says what did we talk last?
Speaker 2: It's been a few months, right, I think we talked
Speaker 2: after the the release of Fallen was the last time
Speaker 2: we had you on? Correct?
Speaker 14: Yeah?
Speaker 15: That was a July definitely earl on in the year,
Speaker 15: wasn't it.
Speaker 16: Yeah, loads of gigs spinning the studio, festivals stock too.
Speaker 2: Wonderful, wonderful, So you had to you had a busy summer.
Speaker 17: It sounds like, hell, yeah, it's been it's been great.
Speaker 2: Outstanding, outstanding. Tell me about tell me about festivals. What
Speaker 2: what festivals have you done? Because I always say festivals
Speaker 2: are such a fantastic opportunity for bands, especially younger new
Speaker 2: bands like you, new were bands like you, because not
Speaker 2: only does it get you in front of audiences, large
Speaker 2: audiences that might not otherwise come across you, but it's
Speaker 2: also such a fantastic networking opportunity too. You know, you
Speaker 2: get in front of new fans, but you also get
Speaker 2: in front of people in the industry and other artists
Speaker 2: that you might work with in the future or have
Speaker 2: worked with in the past. Even But what are some
Speaker 2: of the festivals that y'all did this past summer.
Speaker 15: We've done a couple to mean, the most most memorable
Speaker 15: for us because we made a weekend out at Isle
Speaker 15: of Wight Festival, so we have to we'll drive down
Speaker 15: hop on the ferry and then head into Islow eight
Speaker 15: and that was a full weekend, well just all of it,
Speaker 15: but they all weekend. Yeah, we brought some posters down
Speaker 15: with us and just meeting a loads of people and
Speaker 15: chatting about the band and just made it really personal
Speaker 15: to no seeing them come down to the show and
Speaker 15: never gave and they of us and then they just
Speaker 15: meet us with a post I say come to our show,
Speaker 15: please come. We got some nice messages.
Speaker 14: Well, people like and we've had a few comments on
Speaker 14: things on YouTube and stuff saying, you know, like this
Speaker 14: was a really nice thank you for coming and saying
Speaker 14: all though.
Speaker 17: It was just so glad we caught your set and stuff.
Speaker 16: It goes to that human interactions still goes along way definitely.
Speaker 2: That's a yeah. And that's a good reminder too, because
Speaker 2: as Ai continues to uh to take hold of you know, especially,
Speaker 2: I mean, it affects everything, but it certainly is affecting
Speaker 2: the music industry. So uh, that's a good thing to
Speaker 2: remind people about the importance of human interaction, especially when
Speaker 2: it comes to music or any kind of art that
Speaker 2: you're making. How does a piece of you must go
Speaker 2: over really well live? I would imagine the song's got
Speaker 2: such a great energy about it. I just love it
Speaker 2: so much. How does that go over? How does that
Speaker 2: go over live? Because I would imagine, I mean, do
Speaker 2: you do you open or close your set with it?
Speaker 2: Or where do you put it in the set?
Speaker 17: It's usually second, doesn't it?
Speaker 11: Yeah?
Speaker 15: Seconds in the It's it's a little bit heavier than
Speaker 15: some of the other stuff that we've done, so we
Speaker 15: before we were unsure on how it will go down,
Speaker 15: but the reaction to it's been really good so far.
Speaker 15: It's made mistake. Should we just go a bit heavy?
Speaker 3: Right right?
Speaker 15: Ye gets the people going.
Speaker 2: Like it is a little more aggressive than the other songs.
Speaker 2: But I love it. I love it. There's almost this
Speaker 2: is you know what I hear? What I hear in
Speaker 2: that song. There's almost like a sort of a desperation
Speaker 2: to it and and earnestness maybe that's a better word.
Speaker 2: Who wrote that? Who in the band? Did you all
Speaker 2: write that together? Or who wrote the song?
Speaker 16: So the the instruments are a team effort, like everyone
Speaker 16: puts the bits on it and Matt and Matt hello,
Speaker 16: I wrote the lyrics for it. And for me, it's
Speaker 16: basically like sort of it's about about getting revenge basically,
Speaker 16: but knowing and being aware enough to know that it's
Speaker 16: not the right thing to do.
Speaker 15: Yeah.
Speaker 16: So it's it's tackling trying to tackle the sort of
Speaker 16: thoughts and the feelings that you get when you've been
Speaker 16: wronged and you want to you want to get revenge
Speaker 16: on people who've done done you wrong, but you know
Speaker 16: better effectively and just trying to trying to grapple with
Speaker 16: that and trying to move forward with that, and like
Speaker 16: I've I've been on a bit of a journey personally
Speaker 16: of trying to look after myself a little bit more
Speaker 16: and trying to trying to live life a little bit
Speaker 16: healthier and things like that and be a bit more positive.
Speaker 16: So it's really sort of it's a it's a it's
Speaker 16: a time capsual for me lyrically in that respect.
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I think it's I think it's really good.
Speaker 2: And I think that you know, the theme that you
Speaker 2: just described, I think is universal. I think we've all
Speaker 2: had moments like that, situations where you know where you're
Speaker 2: thinking about, you know, trying to get revenge on somebody,
Speaker 2: and you know, as you get older, you learn, you know,
Speaker 2: really the best revenge is living well and being successful.
Speaker 2: But but but we certainly have we we certainly have
Speaker 2: those situations occur, no doubt, no doubt. Now, what what
Speaker 2: what is the what is the plan? I mean, you know,
Speaker 2: you've released some great singles and I think I think
Speaker 2: one of you at the start of our conversation said
Speaker 2: something about being in the studio. Are you working on
Speaker 2: an album or do you have another single you're working on,
Speaker 2: or what's kind of the future plan.
Speaker 15: So we have.
Speaker 16: We have another one sort of in the chamber, ready
Speaker 16: ready to fire, and then we're going we're going back
Speaker 16: in the studio on Monday actually.
Speaker 15: To do another one to follow.
Speaker 13: That up, and then if all goes well, next year,
Speaker 13: I think we'd really like to do an album. I
Speaker 13: feel like we're at that sort of point as a
Speaker 13: band where we kind of want to do that, but
Speaker 13: it's just a case of whether we can make it happen.
Speaker 15: Yeah, if the time, yeah, at the time, trying, I'd
Speaker 15: love to.
Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, no doubt. I you know, I'm old
Speaker 2: enough to remember when it was you know, you release
Speaker 2: an album and then first single goes to radio six
Speaker 2: eight weeks before the album comes out, and then if
Speaker 2: everything goes well, you know, you release the album, and
Speaker 2: then if everything goes well, you get a second single
Speaker 2: and and maybe a third single and so forth. But
Speaker 2: today there's so many different ways to release music. And yeah,
Speaker 2: a lot of the guests that we have on the show, uh,
Speaker 2: in these times are are just doing a series of
Speaker 2: singles and just kind of seeing which does keep you
Speaker 2: well engaged? Uh, you know, in terms of the algorithms
Speaker 2: with social media and whatnot, if you're you know, because
Speaker 2: you release, if you release an album, you know, you
Speaker 2: get that big bump from that, and then you don't
Speaker 2: necessarily depending on what happens after that, you don't necessarily
Speaker 2: get get a lot of traction on social media. But
Speaker 2: releasing a series of singles and maybe when you do,
Speaker 2: if the goal is to do an album, will the
Speaker 2: singles Maybe I haven't thought this far ahead, but I'll
Speaker 2: just ask you, will the singles that you've released so
Speaker 2: far be a part of that album? Or will will
Speaker 2: the album be a completely separate thing? Do you think?
Speaker 15: I think they might be one or two that have
Speaker 15: to be.
Speaker 17: We have talked about re recording and the like.
Speaker 14: Yeah, there's tunes that we've got in the set that
Speaker 14: we've had for years that we would like. We've always
Speaker 14: said that's going on the album.
Speaker 16: They've sort of as we've played them over the years,
Speaker 16: they've they've evolved into not new songs, but they're definitely
Speaker 16: and they're sort of different in their versions and and
Speaker 16: how we sort of play them.
Speaker 17: And yeah, the standard that we're right now as a band,
Speaker 17: we'd love to sort.
Speaker 16: Of get back in the studio and redo them and
Speaker 16: do them to the standard that that we could do
Speaker 16: them to now would be really cool.
Speaker 2: That makes sense, and to be able to do them
Speaker 2: too with the current lineup, right, because Rush, you've been
Speaker 2: in the band for a while just you joined this
Speaker 2: year correct?
Speaker 18: Yeah, I joined like kendewards the end of April, so
Speaker 18: what like sexially seven months. So yeah, so it's fairly recent. Well,
Speaker 18: it feels like I've been here forever.
Speaker 2: That's good, that's good. Yeah.
Speaker 14: There was a funny moment where because we said, oh,
Speaker 14: we'll do like a little trial period, Shaw we get
Speaker 14: on you know, shout for all Joe and and that,
Speaker 14: and then we came to the end of that trial
Speaker 14: period and basically like Rush came in and went, so,
Speaker 14: are we gonna have a discussion about you know, like
Speaker 14: being being in the band and stuff, and we just went, oh,
Speaker 14: we thought you were.
Speaker 18: In plan And I was like, you know, it's the
Speaker 18: trials coming to it, and they're like, okay, break it
Speaker 18: up and be like, you know what am I in?
Speaker 15: We're still in trial?
Speaker 2: Yeah that's funny, but that's how you know it's a
Speaker 2: good fit. Right when when some of you didn't even
Speaker 2: you know, give it another thought, it was just like, oh, yeah,
Speaker 2: this makes sense. And then but it's good.
Speaker 17: I think that was the big giveaway for us, was there.
Speaker 2: We were like, yeah, definitely, yeah, Oh that's excellent, that's
Speaker 2: excellent going into I mean now that we're geez, I
Speaker 2: can't believe it's already almost the end of October?
Speaker 15: Are you?
Speaker 2: Are you still playing a lot of shows? As I
Speaker 2: know in the United States, a lot of a lot
Speaker 2: of bands, they kind of they don't go into hibernation.
Speaker 2: They're still working, but they kind of use, at least
Speaker 2: in this part of the country where it gets cold
Speaker 2: in the winter, they kind of use winter time to
Speaker 2: maybe focus more on recording because traveling isn't so great
Speaker 2: when it's snowing and icy out. But I mean, what,
Speaker 2: what's kind of your plan? Are you still playing a
Speaker 2: lot of shows now? Do you plan to play through
Speaker 2: the winter or I don't even know what the winter
Speaker 2: is like exactly where you are.
Speaker 15: Yeah, I mean it's not it's not great. It's definitely wet.
Speaker 15: Ye've got a couple to see us out. But that's
Speaker 15: the plan for us as well, to be honest, do
Speaker 15: some bits behind the scenes and they say again next year.
Speaker 15: So we've got two Liverpool shows, you know, one on Halloween,
Speaker 15: which will all go in this pilots.
Speaker 17: Yeah, we want we want everyone to come. Everyone crew
Speaker 17: is taking over nice.
Speaker 15: And we've got there on the sixth of December as well,
Speaker 15: which is really good, really good line up on that.
Speaker 15: So we're looking forward to that and you know, who know,
Speaker 15: something some might come our way. I don't know. I
Speaker 15: was just squeeze in there, but at the moment, definitely
Speaker 15: slow it down a little bit.
Speaker 17: Yeah, yeah, yeah, we want to focus only on writing
Speaker 17: for next year.
Speaker 2: Excellent, excellent. Oh by the way too, I wanted to
Speaker 2: circle back to a Piece of You for a moment.
Speaker 2: I wanted to ask about the video because I love
Speaker 2: the video. It's really really cool. I like that. I
Speaker 2: really dig the whole aesthetic of it, and and I
Speaker 2: was just curious if that was something that you all
Speaker 2: did on your own, or if you worked with with somebody,
Speaker 2: or how did the video come about.
Speaker 15: Yeah, it was quite funny. It was just kind of yeah, yeah,
Speaker 15: it was kind of It was just an idea that
Speaker 15: come to us and we went, what's the best and
Speaker 15: cheapest way we can do this? Yeah, and it ended
Speaker 15: up being Matt in the alley hole were holding the
Speaker 15: hose pipe over to z on the waterfall moment and
Speaker 15: one of us fell with it and that was it.
Speaker 15: Stick it in black and white. It's good to go.
Speaker 17: Well, you can't see behind the camera is me and
Speaker 17: was in suits because we just come from where. Yeah,
Speaker 17: he's molding the camera.
Speaker 11: And posters laughing at me while I'm shivering. Right, it's
Speaker 11: a good idea for like shark time colored dragons.
Speaker 15: Then no warm hose pipes.
Speaker 2: Well, if you go down, I mean, if you can,
Speaker 2: if you can come up with something that that is cheap,
Speaker 2: you know, but but still looks cool, then you've got something, right,
Speaker 2: you know what I mean?
Speaker 15: That really good, some good feedback. Yeah, yeah, like videos
Speaker 15: cost us a few quids. Yeah, that was maybe three pounds.
Speaker 2: There you go, there you go. Oh you've also got
Speaker 2: this is cool too, by the way, and I want
Speaker 2: our listeners to know about this on YouTube. A piece
Speaker 2: of you Rivia in Matchbox Studios a live record and
Speaker 2: this is really good too. This is really cool.
Speaker 15: Thank you, Sean. Yeah, we love those guys. Patchbox a
Speaker 15: great over there and you've got an amazing story the
Speaker 15: recording as well as well as all the video stuff.
Speaker 15: The package. Man. Yeah, the spot on really nice lads.
Speaker 15: That was a good day. Every done fall In there
Speaker 15: as well. Yeah, so yeah, that's really good.
Speaker 2: Do you intend to continue to work with them?
Speaker 15: Yeah? Absolutely, absolutely, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 14: I did the live the live videos a great with
Speaker 14: them and they do go down well. Falling Us now
Speaker 14: you can know, go and see that on the on
Speaker 14: YouTube as well.
Speaker 15: Ready to go.
Speaker 14: Yeah, so if anybody listening, it's only on YouTube. You
Speaker 14: can see the full thing if you want to go see.
Speaker 15: It, but we'd recommend them. That's to anyone for videos
Speaker 15: or the fantastic Yeah, oh yeah.
Speaker 2: Oh there's also two Falling there's this this acoustic version
Speaker 2: live from Northwest Connection that's also very very cool. We're
Speaker 2: going to play actually at the end of our conversation
Speaker 2: today too, we're going to play fall In too, because
Speaker 2: that's another that's another great, great track.
Speaker 15: But I forgot me Tom. That was the boss.
Speaker 2: Yeah, it looks like it looks like there's only three
Speaker 2: of you there, but the the oh this was yeah,
Speaker 2: live from Northwest Connect. What is Northwest Connection?
Speaker 15: So that those guys with the same talents that can't
Speaker 15: remember the exact location, but it's a really cool spot
Speaker 15: to radio station.
Speaker 16: A podcast MM hmmm, So we were, we were on
Speaker 16: the podcast where we had a good, good shot for
Speaker 16: a good forty five minutes.
Speaker 15: Yeah, a couple of tubes, Yeah, would good luck with them?
Speaker 2: Very nice, very nice?
Speaker 11: So what.
Speaker 2: I know, I've asked you this question before the last
Speaker 2: time we talked, but for newer listeners or people who
Speaker 2: aren't familiar with you, uh, tell us about the name.
Speaker 2: I'm sure this is probably you probably hate this question
Speaker 2: because you probably get asked this question every single day
Speaker 2: of your lives. But what does what does Rivia mean?
Speaker 11: It's it's from It's from the Witcher if if you
Speaker 11: know what that is.
Speaker 13: It's a it was a series of books that got
Speaker 13: turned into video games that's now a crappy Netflix show.
Speaker 2: Yeah, and basically the main guy and it's.
Speaker 16: Called Garrels of Rivia. And when we were when we
Speaker 16: were making the band, I really I fell in love
Speaker 16: with this character. Basically, I just thought he was the
Speaker 16: coolest dude ever. And I was like, Riva is a
Speaker 16: really cool name. And then I was like, are there
Speaker 16: any other bands called Rivia? And looked through the fire
Speaker 16: Instagram like every sort of music thing you can find,
Speaker 16: and there was no bands called Rivia, So we were like, well,
Speaker 16: that's that's a good start.
Speaker 13: So the rarely condensed version of the story is he's
Speaker 13: in the sort of books. He's not actually from there.
Speaker 13: He sort of goes there and he saves them and
Speaker 13: they accept them. And I thought it was really cool,
Speaker 13: the idea of like, it doesn't matter where you come from,
Speaker 13: it's what you do that defines who you are.
Speaker 2: Yes, I like that. I like that very much. That
Speaker 2: is that's excellent. So what is now? What's kind of
Speaker 2: the short term do you do you have where's your
Speaker 2: Obviously we're in the United States, but we have listeners everywhere.
Speaker 2: When is when is your next show? When do you
Speaker 2: do you have anything this weekend that you're doing that
Speaker 2: you're playing?
Speaker 15: Is it next next Rounday? Halloween and we will be pirates.
Speaker 17: Yeah.
Speaker 15: So that's in Liverpool Cosmia stock Room, Saty Fairs, re
Speaker 15: Sport and the band called Holy Cove so a Welsh
Speaker 15: I believe in the great bands. Looking forward to getting
Speaker 15: down seeing them there.
Speaker 2: Excellent, excellent, And then uh, where should people go online?
Speaker 2: Where's the best place for people to go to keep
Speaker 2: up with everything that Rivia is doing?
Speaker 15: Instagram and definitely Instagram at Rivia top band. Most of
Speaker 15: our stuff goes there to always putting up stories what
Speaker 15: we're up to as well.
Speaker 14: So we I've got all the other we've got like
Speaker 14: TikTok YouTube, you've got Twitter and stuff, all of them.
Speaker 17: All of our main sort of go to is his Instagram.
Speaker 13: Yeah, and you like nonsensical quotes and there is the
Speaker 13: place to go.
Speaker 17: Can full control of the Twitter and he does just
Speaker 17: put his thoughts out there.
Speaker 15: Yes, all welcome, you'rektok.
Speaker 2: Oh, go ahead.
Speaker 17: I was gonna say our TikTok's more like our behind
Speaker 17: the scenes stuff, isn't it Like he stills having a bit.
Speaker 15: Of fun silly stuff.
Speaker 2: Yeah, now that's excellent. Well, your social media game is
Speaker 2: strong and that's very very important of course, uh these days.
Speaker 2: So I commend you for that. And that's excellent And.
Speaker 17: Yeah, thanks man. We've been working on that a lot
Speaker 17: this year, so appreciate that.
Speaker 15: I think we've got Rush to thank for a lot
Speaker 15: of that. Yeah, absolutely saved excellent.
Speaker 18: Hard work for me is stock hard work, like you know,
Speaker 18: thinking and stuff and then just having the time to
Speaker 18: like film it and and then edit stuff.
Speaker 15: It's hard, is it, like?
Speaker 18: Yeah, Well it's just it's so important today, Like it's
Speaker 18: just a massive part of the music industry.
Speaker 2: And I so right, right, because you're you're doing it
Speaker 2: all yourselves too, right, You're or do you have a
Speaker 2: label that you work with or is this all the.
Speaker 15: I y, that's all the one.
Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I think.
Speaker 15: We've got managers of management engineering from we believe that
Speaker 15: love those guys the bits. In terms of social media, yeah,
Speaker 15: that's unfortunately just.
Speaker 2: Well unfortunately in the sense that it's a lot of work, right,
Speaker 2: but fortunately in the sense that that gives you maximum control,
Speaker 2: total control really over what you're putting out there and
Speaker 2: in terms of your image and everything, and that that
Speaker 2: can be that can be a wonderful thing to have
Speaker 2: that kind of autonomy. So that's that's.
Speaker 14: Yeah, it's a bit more personal for social media now.
Speaker 14: That's kind of we talk, isn't that.
Speaker 19: Yeah.
Speaker 14: We used to really struggle with like what what should
Speaker 14: we put up and then we've realized we could put
Speaker 14: up with everyone ourselves and it's just us exactly.
Speaker 2: It's it's easy to overthink it, but once you once
Speaker 2: you're real, you know your fans they just want engagement.
Speaker 2: So whatever you can put out there you know, and
Speaker 2: and uh and if they don't like it, whatever, they'll
Speaker 2: ignore it. But if they do like it, then great,
Speaker 2: you know, then you've you've created that engagement that is
Speaker 2: absolutely critical to being successful in the music industry today.
Speaker 2: So uh so, yeah, absolutely, I commend you on that. Well, listen,
Speaker 2: we're gonna we'll uh, we'll let you go. We're gonna
Speaker 2: get to this track. We're gonna play fall and to
Speaker 2: close out the segment, another great song.
Speaker 4: Uh.
Speaker 2: But I do want to thank all of you, Matt, Warren, Rash, Chris,
Speaker 2: thank you all.
Speaker 18: You know.
Speaker 2: It doesn't always work out where we get an entire
Speaker 2: band on all at once, so I appreciate that. Absolutely.
Speaker 2: We'll do it again and keep us posted on when
Speaker 2: the next single is ready to and and we'll uh,
Speaker 2: we'll give it. We'll give it a spin here of
Speaker 2: course always and uh and we'll have you back on
Speaker 2: to talk about it and uh and I wish you
Speaker 2: continued success and thanks for joining us today.
Speaker 15: Thank you.
Speaker 2: All right, Rivia, thank you, we'll talk to you soon.
Speaker 2: Take care, bye bye power. All right, that is the
Speaker 2: members of the band Rivia, and we're gonna close out
Speaker 2: our conversation with this track. This is another great single.
Speaker 2: We were the first American radio station to play this.
Speaker 2: Of course, this is Fallen and the band is Rivia.
Speaker 2: And if you are listening live on Saturday, stick around.
Speaker 2: We've got plenty more to come.
Speaker 3: We would just.
Speaker 7: Chance back then, just a little bit more then for
Speaker 7: us that it's always a talbot and we're figuring it
Speaker 7: out with them with just my mantence. We were so close,
Speaker 7: but sofa always to jam the mamas apart. Yeah, we
Speaker 7: know all it has us till we try a jam.
Speaker 7: But chuse me, chest, my manchion, can't you have text down?
Speaker 7: Let's see show mo monight like.

Speaker 3: Then it all round in shaste. Neither one of us
Speaker 3: was too blame, just.
Speaker 7: Couldn't figure it out and so we put so around
Speaker 7: a set of chest can't say this, it's not the
Speaker 7: same sense.
Speaker 3: Out big one became well when we see.

Speaker 2: members of Rivia for joining us this morning on the program.
Speaker 2: If you missed it, of course you can check the archive.
Speaker 2: It'll be up later after the show. But I really
Speaker 2: love such a great band. I love that song piece
Speaker 2: of You. I also love follow and that's another great song.
Speaker 2: But as they were talking about too during our conversation,
Speaker 2: piece of You is a little more aggressive than their
Speaker 2: previous songs, but just so good. If you are joining
Speaker 2: us live today is Saturday, October twenty five, twenty twenty five.
Speaker 2: We are live from the studios of WMNH ninety five
Speaker 2: point three FM and Glorious Manchester, New Hampshire. But you
Speaker 2: can stream the show anywhere. Go to Matt connorton dot com,
Speaker 2: slash live and by the way, there is a I'll
Speaker 2: just mention two. So don't believe everything you hear. I
Speaker 2: know that there is some one on social media claiming
Speaker 2: that I no longer have a radio show and then
Speaker 2: I'm only podcasting now, but that is uh, that is
Speaker 2: not true, as uh, we are on the radio right now.
Speaker 6: Long has this been?
Speaker 2: How long? What since we've been at w M and
Speaker 2: H Yes, jeez, it'll be nine years in April, so
Speaker 2: about eight and a half.
Speaker 6: Years ago, and altogether it's been well over we've been
Speaker 6: here a wow nine years.
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I know right. Oh, it went so quick,
Speaker 2: went so quick, gone in the blink of an eye.
Speaker 6: Seriously, I was at shopping yesterday and they had Christmas
Speaker 6: stuff out. I am not happy. No Christmas yet we
Speaker 6: haven't gotten past.
Speaker 2: Well that's when you work in retail.
Speaker 6: I mean, I know, want to see it.
Speaker 2: When I when I was a store manager for f YE. Yeah,
Speaker 2: but we'd have our holiday meeting in September and then
Speaker 2: uh you know, and then we were off and running
Speaker 2: from there.
Speaker 6: I don't think Santa should come out until after Halloween
Speaker 6: is over. Yeah, yep, I'm sticking to that story. And
Speaker 6: I had to take up my winter coat, so I'm
Speaker 6: really not happy.
Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, absolutely. So We've got a couple of
Speaker 2: great guests who if you're listening live on Saturday. Still
Speaker 2: coming up, we have KTK in the second hour, and
Speaker 2: in the third hour we have Euphemeia, a great band
Speaker 2: from Portland who are making the drive down so I
Speaker 2: always appreciate that, so looking forward to that. Also shout
Speaker 2: out in case they're listening to Replaced by Robots, because
Speaker 2: I just received a text message from them, oh and
Speaker 2: that I'm very happy about. But they were on the
Speaker 2: show a few months ago and love them and you'll
Speaker 2: be hearing more about them.
Speaker 6: And I want to remind folks to go check out
Speaker 6: the Mosaic Are Collective because the Exquisite Corpse exhibit is
Speaker 6: up until November third, and I have a piece in
Speaker 6: there that I'm very proud to have in that I
Speaker 6: carried around inside of me for years and finally put
Speaker 6: it on canvas and it felt so good to get
Speaker 6: it out there. So definitely go check out the Mosaic
Speaker 6: Are Collective at sixty six Hanover Street, Sweet two one,
Speaker 6: right here in the Queen City. And while I'm at it,
Speaker 6: there is an open call submit your art to the
Speaker 6: All That Glitters Show that's going to be coming up next.
Speaker 6: The open call deadline is November first at eleven fifty
Speaker 6: nine pm, So the deadline is approaching. Get your work,
Speaker 6: and I would love to see you hanging on the
Speaker 6: walls in the Mosaic Art Collective.
Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely, absolutely, congratulations on that.
Speaker 3: Yeah.
Speaker 2: Our friend that reminds me too, our friend Dennis Layton
Speaker 2: from the Gray Curtain has he's got art up at
Speaker 2: Terminus Terminus Underground in Nashua.
Speaker 3: Yeah.
Speaker 2: I think for the full month too. And I didn't
Speaker 2: even know until the most recent time was a couple
Speaker 2: of weeks ago. Now, two or three weeks at a time,
Speaker 2: it becomes a blurr. He was on the show and
Speaker 2: talking about that in addition to his music, and I
Speaker 2: had no idea that he was also a visual artist.
Speaker 6: I did not know until he told us that either.
Speaker 6: And I'm really excited that he has that show up
Speaker 6: at Terminus. You should definitely go check it out. Yeah,
Speaker 6: great spot to also catch a lot of great musicians.
Speaker 2: They've got a show tonight to their Halloween show is
Speaker 2: at Terminus Underground tonight in Nashua. If you haven't been there,
Speaker 2: it's amazing. It's an amazing room.
Speaker 6: It's definitely incredible room to go see. Abandoned. It's not
Speaker 6: your average venue, you know, table chair whatever, man. No,
Speaker 6: this is this is a beautiful environment. It really immerses
Speaker 6: you in the experience. I highly recommend going and checkout
Speaker 6: a show at Terminus located in Nashua.
Speaker 2: Absolutely. By the way, so you mentioned too, bad Bunny,
Speaker 2: I just wanted an award.
Speaker 6: Congratulations Bad Bunny. How proud are we? An American has
Speaker 6: been named the top Latin Artist of the twenty first
Speaker 6: century at the twenty twenty five Latin Billboard of Music
Speaker 6: Awards that happened this past Thurs.
Speaker 2: Bad Bunny's an American? Wow?
Speaker 6: Well yeah, do we not know our geography?
Speaker 2: So yeah?
Speaker 6: So for America has states and territories that we all own.
Speaker 2: That's right. Part of why why we bring that up
Speaker 2: is because you know, and and it's it's been a
Speaker 2: number of weeks now, but it was there was some
Speaker 2: controversy or there still is some controversy about about about
Speaker 2: Bad Bunny being selected to play the Super Ball this
Speaker 2: year because some people like to say, well, you know,
Speaker 2: you should have an American, and it's like, yeah, Bad
Speaker 2: Bunny is an American.
Speaker 6: We've had lots and lots of Super Bowls with artists
Speaker 6: from all around the world. Well it's not like it's
Speaker 6: a fur yeah, but at first anyway, because it's not true.
Speaker 2: But the point being Bad Bunny is an American because
Speaker 2: he's from Puerto Rico, and Puerto Rico is a part
Speaker 2: of the United States. And I'd put something on social
Speaker 2: media when this whole controversy first erupted. It's like, you know,
Speaker 2: it's it's maybe it's a failure in our education system.
Speaker 6: If we don't know what America comprises.
Speaker 2: But I think a lot of it, too, is just
Speaker 2: willful ignorance supporting people's pre existing biases. And we won't
Speaker 2: get too far into that because we don't do politics
Speaker 2: on this version of the show, but just an observation.
Speaker 2: It always, uh frustrates and disappoints me whenever I'm reminded
Speaker 2: that there is a large portion of the American population
Speaker 2: that doesn't seem to understand that Puerto Rico is a
Speaker 2: part of the United States. It's not a separate country.
Speaker 2: It is a part of the United States. Puerto Ricans
Speaker 2: and this will really annoy some people, but I'm gonna
Speaker 2: say it because it literally is true. Puerto Ricans are
Speaker 2: just as American as you or me.
Speaker 6: Yes they are. They are citizens.
Speaker 2: They are born American citizens.
Speaker 3: Ye.
Speaker 6: They got their certificates from America, get American passport, they are.
Speaker 2: Born on American soil. Puerto Rico is a part of
Speaker 2: this great country, you know. And I'm sorry for the
Speaker 2: people who don't seem to understand that, but get it
Speaker 2: through your skulls and get over it.
Speaker 11: See.
Speaker 6: And one of the reasons I particularly have followed Bad
Speaker 6: Bunny because he did a thing on WW so awesome,
Speaker 6: Like you know, sometimes are you'll see like superstars or
Speaker 6: whatever get involved with wrestling and stuff, and then you know,
Speaker 6: they make an appearance. But once in a while you
Speaker 6: see artists come in that really get into it, like, oh,
Speaker 6: who's the other one, the country singer jelly Roll. Jelly
Speaker 6: Roll he did too, just like that funny they both
Speaker 6: like took it so seriously. They did trainings and everything.
Speaker 6: And if you've never seen Bad Bunny's entrance when they
Speaker 6: had when he did the battle against Damien Price, yeah,
Speaker 6: my favorite entrance. Yeah, it's awesome. They do it's it's
Speaker 6: it's one of the best entrances to a match I think.
Speaker 2: Ever. I love it.
Speaker 6: The people go absolutely insane. You can feel the floor.
Speaker 6: I can't, but you'd see people posted about they could
Speaker 6: feel the floor. That was like the building was moving.
Speaker 6: It was so amazing. And just the thing about Bad
Speaker 6: Bunny too. I want to say what he said about
Speaker 6: getting this award because I think it's really awesome.
Speaker 2: And what's what's the ward again? Remind us? I'm sorry,
Speaker 2: what is the award again?
Speaker 6: Remind us of So this is he was awarded the
Speaker 6: twenty twenty five Latin Billboard Music Awards. It's very prestigious,
Speaker 6: it's an honor and it's you know, the ceremony was held.
Speaker 6: I don't remember exactly what forgive me. I don't remember
Speaker 6: exactly the ceremonies. Oh, it was Thursday night. They had
Speaker 6: the ceremony Thursday night, and he had talked about like
Speaker 6: facing barriers and trying to break in into music and stuff,
Speaker 6: but he said, quote, for me, it's an honor to
Speaker 6: receive this award from your hands. I respect you and
Speaker 6: admire you so much. Every time I hear other artists
Speaker 6: speak as you did of me, it tells me that
Speaker 6: doing things from a good place and with your heart
Speaker 6: is always the best decision. He also told Marino that quote,
Speaker 6: I know how much I have worked, and not just
Speaker 6: me but my whole team. At the same time, I'm
Speaker 6: one hundred percent aware that any one of my colleagues
Speaker 6: could have been given this award. So he was very
Speaker 6: honored to receive it. It's you know it And he
Speaker 6: talks about how it's hard to be a Latino artist
Speaker 6: and to really to fight to get your career going.
Speaker 2: And well to get to break into the mainstream. It
Speaker 2: is really can be really challenging, but.
Speaker 6: When you are doing it in Spanish, yeah, it's much harder.
Speaker 2: Absolute.
Speaker 15: Yeah.
Speaker 6: The show that you guys did on retro a few
Speaker 6: weeks ago where it was artist who did their songs
Speaker 6: and other languages.
Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, that was so cool on Retrospect Radio. Yeah,
Speaker 2: check out that episode.
Speaker 6: Yeah, I think there was a David Bowie one that
Speaker 6: was like in French.
Speaker 2: Yeah, and there was David Lee Roth, who, of course,
Speaker 2: at least one, maybe two of the early David Lee
Speaker 2: Roth solo albums he recorded separate versions because he's fluent
Speaker 2: in Spanish. I had no idea he grew up in
Speaker 2: where he grew up in South Texas. He said, the
Speaker 2: Spanish was just as prevalent. I know. Another thing that
Speaker 2: will annoy some people, but get over it. Spent where
Speaker 2: he grew up, Spanish was I think it might have
Speaker 2: been El Paso. Spanish was just as prevalent as English languages.
Speaker 6: Yeah, no kid id teaching people languages and the little kids,
Speaker 6: Like I went overseas and I'm leeting like these little
Speaker 6: kids that are like nine years old and they speak English,
Speaker 6: Dutch and Fresian, and I'm like, I'm struggling to figure
Speaker 6: out how to tell you thank you.
Speaker 2: Yeah.
Speaker 6: So it's really cool when you see an artist who
Speaker 6: is in a genre that's harder than other genres because
Speaker 6: it is in a different language. Yeah, it does make
Speaker 6: it that much. So it's great to see an American
Speaker 6: gain this award and with such grace. But like I said,
Speaker 6: I'm a fan of him. I've been a fan of
Speaker 6: him basically since I was introduced to him because of WWE.
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, you didn't see that.
Speaker 6: I highly recommend it. It's fun to watch musicians involved
Speaker 6: in WWE, especially when I take it seriously and they
Speaker 6: really go all in, like Jelly Rold did and like
Speaker 6: Bad Bunny did. So I mean, so congratulations out there
Speaker 6: of Bad Bunny. I think it's great. I'm playing at
Speaker 6: the super Bowl. Thank you for being a great American.
Speaker 2: Yes, love from us. Yes, yes, one other thing. And
Speaker 2: I wanted to send you this, but I'm logged out
Speaker 2: of my Facebook on this and I'm having trouble getting
Speaker 2: logged in. Maybe that's the problem. I just realized that
Speaker 2: might be the issue. That might be the issue I'm having.
Speaker 2: I'll have to during the break, I'll have to look
Speaker 2: at that. But this is on Music Business Worldwide dot Com.
Speaker 2: Just a quick story and then we got to get
Speaker 2: to a break. Lizzo sued for alleged copyright violation and
Speaker 2: unreleased song snippet referencing Sydney Sweeney jeans ad what you
Speaker 2: see this? Yeah, this just happened.
Speaker 6: Come on, keep this.
Speaker 2: This went up a couple days ago. It says Lizzo
Speaker 2: is facing a copyright infringement lawsuit over a snippet of
Speaker 2: a song the singer shared on social media that referenced
Speaker 2: the controversy around Sydney Sweeney's American Eagle ad. The GRC Trust,
Speaker 2: a Georgia based revocable trust, filed the lawsuit in federal
Speaker 2: court in California on Tuesday the twenty first, alleging that
Speaker 2: Lizzo's track, known alternately as I'm Going In Till October
Speaker 2: or Good Genes that's the full title, sampled without permission
Speaker 2: the nineteen seventy song win or Lose We Tried by
Speaker 2: soul singer and songwriter Sam Des. Lizzo's allegedly infringing work
Speaker 2: quote incorporates interpolates and samples instrumental and vocal elements of
Speaker 2: the Sam D's composition unquote. States's GRC Trust complaint, which
Speaker 2: can be read and full. There's a link to it
Speaker 2: it h if you want to check it out. Quote.
Speaker 2: Representatives for Lizzo acknowledge the same unquote. However, a representative
Speaker 2: for Lizzo told BBC News in Bloomberg Law that they
Speaker 2: were quote surprised that the GRC Trust filed the lawsuit,
Speaker 2: given that Lizzo's song has never been commercially released or monetized,
Speaker 2: and no decision has been made at this time regarding
Speaker 2: any future commercial will release of the song unquote. So
Speaker 2: this is an example. We talk a lot on the
Speaker 2: show about whether it's AI or whether it's something like this,
Speaker 2: all this new territory that we're entering in the music industry,
Speaker 2: because now this is something that was not has not
Speaker 2: been released. A snippet of this was shared on social media,
Speaker 2: and somebody's following a lawsuit over this. A snippet of
Speaker 2: this was shared on social media. That's interesting. I'm not
Speaker 2: making a judgment about whether it's right or wrong or
Speaker 2: who's right or wrong here. I'd have to think this
Speaker 2: one over a little bit. But this is but this
Speaker 2: is a new but this is new territory.
Speaker 6: But it's not mentioning. It's literally taking sound.
Speaker 2: Yeah.
Speaker 6: And you know, so when you take somebody else's vocals
Speaker 6: and sound and put it in your music, I can
Speaker 6: understand why they say, hey, wait, you're infringing on my
Speaker 6: rights to control my music, my artistry.
Speaker 2: Yeah.
Speaker 6: And if you're gonna put something like that in a
Speaker 6: way that could be shared, I think you're opening yourself
Speaker 6: up to some liability, whether it was intended to be
Speaker 6: in the public or not.
Speaker 2: You did it well. Now that this is there, Now
Speaker 2: that this is happening, it seems inevitable that something like
Speaker 2: this would come up. But this is the first example
Speaker 2: I've seen of something like this coming up where an actual,
Speaker 2: an actual lawsuit has come about it. It's interesting. Again,
Speaker 2: I'm not making a judgment in this moment about whose
Speaker 2: side I'm on here or what I think. I just
Speaker 2: saw this. I didn't even see this before the show.
Speaker 2: I happened to see it just a few minutes ago.
Speaker 2: It popped up in my newsfeed. But very very interesting.
Speaker 2: So we will have to we will have to follow
Speaker 2: that closely going forward. What we're gonna do now is,
Speaker 2: if you are listening live on Saturday, we've got a great,
Speaker 2: great artist coming up. Katk is going to be with
Speaker 2: us in the second hour. So we're gonna go ahead
Speaker 2: and get some commercials out of the way and show
Speaker 2: some love to our amazing sponsors here. And I should
Speaker 2: have had that pulled up and ready to go. Here
Speaker 2: we go, So stick around plenty more Matt Connorton Unleashed
Speaker 2: coming up. Don't go anywhere this fall.
Speaker 20: The ballpark isn't closing for the season. It's waking up,
Speaker 20: step beyond the gates and into Fright Nights at the Field,
Speaker 20: an immersive, haunted experience where the roar of the crowd
Speaker 20: has been replaced by whispers in the dark. Wander through
Speaker 20: twisted tunnels, ghost lit corridors, and the stadium itself now
Speaker 20: home to the things that never left live scare actors,
Speaker 20: movie quality sets, heart racing encounters around every corner.
Speaker 21: The game is over, but the nightmare.
Speaker 20: Has just begun. Fright Nights in the Field.
Speaker 22: There to play after dark.
Speaker 19: Luigi's Pizza Bar and Grill.
