six Hanover Street. It's in Sweet twoh one, right on the second floor
there. It's easy to get to and a really cool place, so come
and check that out. And I'm going to get these mics up because we've
got a great band joining us. In fact, we just played one of
their songs, Cinnamon, but they've got a brand new studio track that we're
also going to be doing a premiere on in just a few minutes. But
we've got Vices Inc all the way from Portland Main and Hello, welcome,
Hello, and uh we will let's start in the corner here. And because
I'm not gonna be able to remember everyone's names, we didn't. We did
introductions quickly between between segments, but I already am confused, so we'll start
with you. Tell us if you could, who you are and what you
do in the band. My name is Jagger. I play guitar and keyboys,
but mainly guitar. I guess your name's easy to remember because you don't
meet many Jaggers. Have you ever met another Jagger? No? On,
I haven't, but I didn't think so can't go wrong with a name like
that. And you I'm Eleanor. I'm the vocalist in the band. Occasionally
I'll do some like classical strings, violin viola, but oh okay, very
good, No love your voice. You got a great voice. And you
Hi, I'm Christy. I played drums, okay, Christie's drums, and
you I'm Handi Lye. I played the bass guitar. Okay, very good.
I'm a bass player as well. And I'll let you introduce the gentleman
who is not on on a mic. That's Josh. He also plays the
guitar. Okay, plays the lead guitar. Very good. Now, how
how long have you been a five piece because on the website it looks like
you're a trio. Yes, for about three years. We were a trio
and then we picked up Josh earlier last year, and then we became a
five piece around September of last year. Okay, Now, why was that?
Was that? Was that a conscious decision to expand the band or was
it or was it more just organic? Originally because it was a it was
a COVID situation, we just we weren't able to play shows and stuff,
so we can do everything we wanted to do, like in the studio as
a three piece. And then once we started playing shows again, we decided
that we you know, for this, you know, for us, it
plays music live, we needed more people in the band because it's impossible for
us to do it has a three piece. Yeah, and then we got
jobs involved in it. But even furthermore, the expanded a bit more.
We had to have another person to add, and that's where we add.
Okay, all right, very good. Do you play out a lot?
Yes, we asked you. We came of a tour last year. We're
on tour from end of October through December, and we're gonna be on tour
a end in April. Okay, very good. Are you are you going
on? Are you going out with anybody else? Are you opening for anybody
or opening? It's we're mostly, uh, we on the tour ourself.
We go buy ourselves and then we just played with you know, bands for
that area. Okay, so that fairies every time may place to play at
the ferries who were playing with Yeah, yeah, did you ever play as
a three piece or did you wait until you expanded the lineup? We never
played as a three piece? Okay, yeah, like you said, that
probably would have been exactly we kind of did. The first show, one
person pretended to play. Sounds sounds like there's a story here. Yeah,
I don't want to throwing money in one of the bus. But but they
were, you know, they weren't ready for the show, and they pretended
to play an instrument. And oh, we played our you know, basically
ourselves playing the show. But it sounds sounded good, right, we pulled
it off. We pulled it off for sure. But did somebody play not
plugged in? What do you they just pretended to play the not anyone in
this room? Yeah, okay, people, you know, yeah, it
just tended they were playing an instrument, but they really weren't, Like it
was plugged in and stuff, but it was shut off. Okay, all
right, Well you have a great sound, very the songs are very catchy
and but kind of kind of different genres too. I mean, how do
you how do you describe how do you describe the band? And everyone always
say it's a question, you know, how do you describe your own music?
It's it can be challenging. But but if if I'd never heard advice
ISNK, how would you describe it? Definitely hybrid of different styles, that's
for sure. Yeah, we were influenced by so much of these different styles
of music. Yeah, and obviously you can see that. Hope, we're
into our the music we're recorded. But I mean, we started out as
a rock band, but we explained it so much more since then. But
it's really really hard to peg hole that because if you really do listen to
us, it's like we could do electronic stuff and pop stuff to hard rock
stuff to metal. It really really raries. But I mean, I guess
you just you know, the best term is hybrid, and we go with
what we feel like doing at the time. But it's but you've pulled off
where it's you know, a hybrid is a lot of different styles, but
it's also cohesive, sure, because when I'm listening to the songs, you
know, they all they all sound like the same band. Yeah everything,
but but but but you can hear the different influences. But it's but it's
not like it's in other words, it's not like jarring, like oh now
they sound like this doesn't even sound like the same band. It all sounds
like the same man, probably partly because of the vocals are very distinct.
But we do try to keep it symmetric for sure, But we you you
know, if you go outside of our No More style, we try to
do a few song that match that. So it's not like you know,
so too jarring, because otherwise how do you get into that? Right?
Right? Yeah? Where do you record it? Is everything that you've done
so far? Is it all recorded at the same studio or I own a
studio? We don't. We don't have a studio of my house. Oh
okay. During a COVID, imit it easy because we're all oh yeah,
yeah, yeah. That's the thing with you know, the pandemic. It
was awful. But but one of the excuse me, according to my sinus
as it's already spring, uh, one of the one of the advantages,
I shouldn't say advantages, but you know, we have to find these silver
linings where we can. Is that it really in terms of creativity and and
you know, just making the best of a bad situation. I feel like
it. It it kind of forced a lot of people to find ways to
create or keep working. Yeah, yeah, to keep working and and find
you know, I had in the last hour, we had a gentleman,
Ray Coats uh skyping in from the UK and we were talking about that.
How you know, we live in an era too where you can you know,
you can email files back and forth if you're collaborating with somebody you can
you can record music without even ever being in the same room, really,
you know, and and so and that already existed before the pandemic obviously,
but I think the pandemic really kind of forced people to find new ways to
approach creativity. And so, you know, a lot of great music came
out, you know, over the course of that. So and we we
get tighter as a band too, Yeah, we were forced to, so,
no doubt. Yeah, Before we had so much on uplate, you
know, and trying to get ready for shows and all that stuff, and
we weren't really really prepared for that. But now we had all that time
to find a crap during studio. Wise, it's easier us to play shows
now because we have that experience. Yeah, yeah, no doubt. So
We've got a brand new song that you sent, which I really love.
I'm looking forward to playing this and this this hasn't been played anywhere on the
radio, I assume yet. So this is a world radio premiere. We
love the world radio absolutely, No, this is really cool. I like
this a lot. It's called Regret Me and anything you want us to know
about this before we play it. We're trying to get onto a festival called
Smoke Out Thank you because we want to get barbecue. But this is part
of our audition. I guess you could say, oh, okay, this
is one of the songs for it. So I say we can if we
were able to fit into what they were looking for. Oh so we think
we uh you know, we did what they wanted to do. Yeah,
we're proud of it. Have you do you know if have you heard?
It's looking good good? We're gonna find out really really soon. Yeah,
yeah, excellent. All right, Maybe maybe this is what's going to put
it on the top right here. Maybe maybe No, I really like this.
This is really good. All right, let's give this a listen.
This is called Regret Me. The band is Vices, Inc. And they
are here with us live in studio. Check this out. This is the
world radio premiere. You're good again, except I don't care what you're seeing
in the middle. You do as the page in the system with a natural
gift, tell him, so go ahead and good your bottle me to do.
You're good. You've got an handling that God, you can't even handle
the tree as okay, Dan the system man, I'm perfectly ready to say
go ahead and the rered me, but I'm not usingenough bone. It's my
jos. Maybe I'll do anything you please. I'll do anything you please.
You're ready. God, yeah, I'm finding perfectly nature here because you do
off the busy a time with a typical wanderful head and regret me. But
I'm beating you to it, dude. Go ahead and regret me, but
I always want to regret you. Go ahead and regretted me, but I
always want to regret you. Go head, regret me, but I always
want to regret you, regret me, and not regret you. Regret How
is the world radio premiere of Regret Me? From Vices Inc? And we
have Vices Inc. With us live in studio and yeah, great, great
track. They be what's the smoke out? Something windy city smokeout, Windy
city smoke out. They have to say yes, And there's lots of barbecue
there, so if they just give us barbecue, we'll be content with that.
Well, you just still want you want to play too, we play.
You don't want it, you don't want just go there for the barbecue.
Let's not close any doors, right right? Okay, all right?
Fair enough? Had the US enough barbecue to take home too. This is
the key, yeah, for us all we want and then take them home
or okay, if we don't play well okay, I mean if you're if
the title your festival has smoke out, it's got to be really good barbecue,
right and then I mean I could be wrong, but I am thinking
that you know what you're doing? Yeah, yeah, you kind of yeah.
And then with this, this this festival, it's not our star of
music. It's actually more in the countryside. Okay, I think are really
huge acts. I mean really a little bit of twang in that guitar,
so we get it. That was intentional, okay, Okay, in a
purpose. Yeah, yeah, No, that's that's really good. That's really
good. I like that song a lot, regret me. So that's not
available anywhere yet? Is that on an upcoming album or it's not going to
be on an album? It's you can you can buy a line. Okay.
It is out as a single, yes, but it wasn't uh you
know, play on anthonology yet, you know, yeah, but but yeah,
it's just it's just a single that if you want it, you can
get it. You're not okay, some of stuff there you can get it.
How many albums do you have out as a band. You've got you've
got a lot of material or sick, Wow, we have six. I
think you've been productive. Yeah, and we got a lot more in the
can waiting and when once I almost finished and stuff. So yeah, we've
got enough material to the last put in us sixty five years probably probably more.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, we just I never step pride in and
they are to because of it, because maybe other week we gotta do an
album. Here you go, guys, let's do us. Who writes the
lyrics? Do you write the lyrics? Yeah? I write the majority of
the lyrics. Occasionally will collaborate or if Jag has something that he kind of
had in mind when he wrote the song, yeah, like riff off of
that. But yeah, yeah, I like the uh a lot of them.
They sound like there's a little bit of like like sort of the ending
of a relationship vibe to them. Yeah. Any lyrics that sounding challenging,
it's definitely from her. Yeah. No, they're good. They're very good.
They're clever and uh yeah no, can you tell me about you?
Your vocals remind me of someone, but I can't quite put my finger on
who. So I'll let me ask you this. Who are your influences in
terms of your approach to singing? Oh gosh, I have a lot.
I think Hayley Williams of Paramore. Yeah, I can hear that. Yeah,
obvious one. I love her everything. I really love Lady Gaga.
I have a lot of like pop influences. Demie Levado, it's a big
one for me. Brendan Yuri from Panic at the Disco I love and uh
lyrically, I really look up to Josh Katz from Bad Flower. They're kind
of like, uh like lesser known but still very successful. I was gonna
say, I'm not familiar. They're probably my favorite band. I've gone to
see them several times. Like you know, vocal wise, Bob Dylan,
Yeah yeah, oh yeah, Bob. No. But bad Flower they put
a lot of like story into their lyrics, and I just love like the
creativity and what they do. Now, are there backing vocals live? Do
any of you? We haven't done that yet. I'm sorry, that's okay,
not yet, but we're working on it. Yeah yeah, cool?
Cool? And what does anybody else have influences? They want to mention because
obviously, you know, like we talked about earlier. There's a lot of
different you can hear different influences in the band, or we'll go with Christy
Why Yeah, sure, I have a lot of like pop punk influences for
my drumming, like Cool from Green Day, but Travis Barker of course.
Then also like classic rock like Russia and Parent Metallica, anything, I kinda
I kind of go all over the other place as far as like my genres
as well. Yeah, yeah, the drums sound really good on these on
the songs. Yeah, it's it's the way that you know the mixing and
do you do all the mixing and everything or no, that's done in my
brother's studio. Oh oh in the Netherlands. Oh no, kidding, So
he does that. We have a guy that physically works for us for us.
He's like, no, Boris, can we mix this? No,
he's angry all the time. That wasn't anything. He says, what your
influences. My influence is usually in like the progressive rock field. I like
Rush, Saga, Sticks, stuff like that. Yeah. Yeah, so
it's you know, and obviously with the group of you, you all bring
you all bring bring in different things. But now so the the music who
writes the music? Do you write everything? Yeah? Does anybody else contribute?
Or well? I bring in basically I bring in it. It depends
how the situation is. Sometimes I got full fledged ideas all set and this
is you know, and we're bringing into the band otherwise or otherwise I bring
in a basic idea and each person brings, you know, puts it parts
to it. Yeah. I don't dictate what you know unless I don't really
don't like it. I'm like, hey, Christy, that sucks, Please
don't do that on the drums, right, But usually that's the case,
or if the song's already recorded, I like it. We have a live
version of it, which is different, and then I don't really tell people
what to doing that. Like Josh would come up with some leads, and
long as they don't get in my way, right, don't get in my
way, right right, don't get my way or getting in her way,
it's okay. So a lot of my music is different for live because I
just don't want to be like the same. Then you can hear live unless
the song calls for it. Yeah. I think that's cool because a lot
of a lot of musicians approach it kind of the opposite way, where it's
like it's very important to to some people to recreate live what you hear on
the recording. And I'm my attitude has always been I already not it sounds
like on the recording, you know, if there's you know, what's wrong
with some surprises, if it's a little bit different live, you know what
I mean? You want to make it more organic in that sense. Yeah,
but it's also like it's just it's just okay. Some some songs,
there's so much going on that we didn't exactly what record and we need backtracks
and stuff like that. Yeah, or an orchestra, and that's not gonna
happen, right. You know a lot of these songs, I play guitar
and keyboards in it, and it's like I can't do both. I don't
have four arms. So it's yeah, you go pick a choose. And
we decided this is going to be the lineup. We're not going to add
any more people because otherwise we would be like earth winder fire, right,
So that's then the reason why too. But it's also it's fun changing it
up a little bit. Yeah, there's some songs that were more strict towards
being how it sounded recording wise, just because it calls for it. Yeah.
Yeah, I mean if if something sounds different, you know, because
you'll off in your bands say too, well, you know, we have
to we have to replicate what we did in the studio, and if that,
you know, maybe we need backing tracks or some kind of additional technology.
And it's like, what's wrong with letting it sound a little more stripped
down, a little more raw when it's live. You know, it's so
so I I like, I like your approach. I think that's cool.
Do you have any like on YouTube? Do you have any live performances on
up on YouTuber? Is that only studio stuff? Yes, we do it
actually if you want to check us out live. Recently we were on a
Dan Casman show and it's a night time night show. Yeah, and we
played live on that and actually go on their website you can see us play
giving in but not giving up live. Yeah. But yeah, this there's
there's there's actually a full concert that Joshua have recorded for us that's on his
channel somewhere that it's actually from Kentucky right from the mag Bar. And it
was a good show. So you want to see that that's like a whole
live set. I mean that edited, it's raw footage. Yeah, yeah,
we're pretty proud of it. But you know, people might upload stuff,
but for us, you know, we have not uploaded ourselves any concert
footage to the our YouTube yet. One day we will. But if you
want to watch a good you know, footage of us from you know,
we're good cameras and stuff like that and good sound checking out the Dan Castman
show called Danny Cashman Dan Danny called Night Night, Night Show, The Night
Show, the Night Show with Danny Cashman, which is you know, it's
cool because we're on TV and stuff for that. Oh that is cool.
Yeah, you know when you said night show, I thought you meant it
was on at night, but that's actually the name. Yeah, we're actually
gonna be uh that's good advertising. It could be coming out pretty soon on
that yeah oh really yeah, yeah, we we we recorded three songs on
there, and one was broadcast a few days after we performed. One was
just for the website, and then one's could be later on kind of then,
which is coming up now actually in a few weeks. Well, why
don't we since you mentioned the song, why don't we why don't we play
that, like Cyanide? What what should we know about this? Anything?
Anything you want us to know about the song? It's it's one of the
first songs we wrote for the new album. Oh really, okay, I
dreamed it, right, and I dreamed it and then hummed it out.
And it's like I called her up as Christian is, like, you're gonna
get your butt down here, and what's some drums? And I started working
with her Josh watching the Shawa and here's the here, here's us plainness and
he runs downstairs and we just clicked it together. But it was just like,
I want to try a different sound, and that's what we did with
this new album coming out. It's it's the approach for it. It's just
more turned. If I guess this is on the new one. That's and
it's actually influenced by bad Flower, to be honest, because she got me
into it. Unfortunately. Now, I just wanted to, you know.
And plus we were working on Radiohead stuff, so that effects and atmosphere kind
of stuff going on. Oh okay, and that's what got me into it.
Yeah, I know what to mean because obviously I've heard and I yeah,
I like this one a lot. All right, let's give this a
listen. So this is like Cinaid. This is Vice's Inc. They're here
with us in studio this morning on Matt Connorton Unleashed. But check this out.
Suffer cat may cry for me, said, someone save me from this
hell. I fantas side say all the cover over maders say and t ship
was made. Wa ship was mans. I saw the clock screams, and
I close my and I could fall sweet dream of bad things, and I
could fall sweet dream of bad things, and I could fall sneeze dream of
bad things, and I could fall sneeze dream of bad things A way on
the break a to I think, I think, say on the cover of
the matters and she I wish she was made. I wish she was made
like birds live sign the club screen seven day Die, And I could fall
sleep entry ban everything, and I could tall sleep entry fancies and I could
fall sleep entry of anything, and I could fall sweep by fall less sleep
back fall way Hmmm. I like that a lot. That is like Cyanide.
The band is Vice's Inc. And they're here with us live in studio
all the way from Portland, Maine. I appreciate you all coming. How
long of a drive was that? It was about an hour and forty five
minutes? I think, wow, a little a little bit longer we came
and picked you up. We don't count that. I only count from where
you were is an hour and a half from you come get me. It's
that's when it starts. Well, I appreciate you all traveling. Uh so
far, it's it's great to great to have you here. And uh,
Jagger, you were saying, that's, uh, that's your opener. You
open with that, usually with the one. We've been doing that since the
tour it's self. And eventually we're gonna be switching these songs out that you
know for the well, that song's gonna be in a set list still,
yeah, but we're gonna be changing our set list to reflect our new sound.
Okay, okay, cool. And you're also saying, uh, off
air that you've got a big show coming up. Do you want to talk
about yes, So on March ninth. Originally it was going to be an
album release party show, but it expanded immensely since then, and we had
an idea that we want to play show that we you know, we debuted
some of these new songs and have some bands that we performed with during a
tour over and since we liked a lot of the bands, we had to
ask a lot of these bands if they want to do it or not.
And some of these bands are pretty far i mean already from Ohio and it
worked out there a response was overwhelming to the point where we now have a
festival going on. Oh wow, and we have eighteen acts and a lot
of the bands we again we played with and stuff and really should people should
check these bands out, like mess Maker, Night Fury, give me some
more. Pink mix Face is not going to be there. I'm sorry the
Roscos. Just so many great acts are going to be there, like I
mean, bands that should be heard. And some of the bands that we
wanted to play with who wanted to be at this show couldn't be couldn't show
up, which you know, we broken hearted, Like she's just talking about
Pink Banks Parade playing Jane and Our Ghost and stuff. There's so many bands
that could couldn't come for a reason. But still we uh, we got
a good bulk of bands that we played with were just great and this is
the fun part about it. We're filming this professionally, and so what happens
is each band we're gonna for the film wise to play too of their own
songs, and then they cover one of our songs. Oh really some of
these bands like in their style by the way. So we got one band
called Dad that plays like American of uh folk music. They're playing one of
our songs in their style, which is really really cool. Yeah. So
this is a festival, So you're putting this on, you're yeah, that's
a lot of wow, a lot going on. Yeah. Last week itself,
I put a lot into it and it's become huge. Yeah. So
we've got a lot going on with that, and you know, I hopefully
people will come out and see it. It's gonna be at the Cavern in
Portland, Maine, and the cavern's on Free Street, and it's going to
be pretty epic. Yeah. Yeah, eighteen bands. Wow. Yeah,
we're gonna mention more about it. Obviously you can check us out on the
website and stuff, but also we're going to be on I'm gonna be on
the Dane Casman Show, the Danny Casman Show talking about this, and so
you can watch that. I'm there too, Yeah, it's gonna you know,
we're pretty excited. Was it when you when you first started putting this
together and planning it? Was it intended to be because eighteen bands that's a
lot. Was it intended to be such a big event or did it start
as something smaller and then grew. What happened was like I contact a lot
of bands, thinking most of the coming so it's like, uh, you
know this ban does account we have this band? Yeah? Yeah, cast
a wide nets. You know. The problem is most of the bands accepted
like people like us. So I was like, well, I'm gonna have
to just adapt to this, yeah, and decided like it's more now it's
showcasing up and coming talent in the Northeast. Yeah, that's what it's gonna
be. Something we're gonna do with a year from now and cool. So
like bands are you know that should be heard into a wider market. That's
what's gonna be there for. Yeah, so you're gonna be running the whole.
We'll sue. You're gonna have help, right, I mean no,
No, we're gonna We're gonna win it. You know, definitely, we
got to. I've got a lot of people that are getting involved in Its
good. You know, I didn't expect it to be so overwhelm. Yeah,
yeah, no, that's a lot of work. But good for you
for taking that. Honest. You know, I got performed too, so
I can't be you know, working the whole time. Yeah, that's the
thing. Yeah yeah, wow, No, that's cool. That's cool.
And what is it called again? What's the name of the event? Vice
Fest? And you can check us out if you want to. It's it's
a website for it, w W dot vices dot I mean no, no,
no dot vices fest dot com. I'm sure you saying don all the
time, so I'll do that again because I'm you know, I'm sorry,
I'm stupid. Ww dot vices that's a v I C E S Fest f
E s t dot com, vices fast dot com. Okay, now it's
it's the website looks great. Actually, Christy over there designed it. She
gots some skills there and put it together. Excellent, excellent. By the
way, where does the name come from? Visus Inc? Where Okay,
so it's from her song. We we literally we had no name for a
long time and I wrote a song called Vice's Inc. And we were looking
for a name. The first thing I did was to see if these pages
they were available in dot coms. So I had all these different names.
That's very smart because not everyone and by not everyone, I mean a lot
of people don't even think to do the basic, you know, making sure
it's available. Be shocked how many names are parked and they want you to
pay like six thousand dollars. So I just said, I just said,
there's no way advices ink is not taken. It's like it's no, but
it wasn't. And it's like, okay, well that missed be a sign,
right, yeah? Cool? You know, and we we have literally
no vices at all in this band, so it's kind of it's kind of
you know, to speak for us. You know, well we like food.
But other than that, yeah, we're not. You know, we're
not you know, you know we're not. We don't do crime, you
know, well besides her do. Yeah. But I mean the biggest thing
we do is eat food and play Pokemon Goalt Pokemon Go sponsor us because I
just did your name on there, Pokemon Go sponsor us please. Yeah.
So so yeah, we just eat a lot of food, I guess it.
Uh, And you know, make touch music. That's good vice a
little bit too right, Yeah, yeah, well there you go. But
there's no drugs, it's no anything crazy, so no caffeine addiction. Come
on, well, I that's advice. I used to be but I said
in May. In May, and I totally stopped rinking caffeine, no kidding
soda. So yeah, so since May crazy, right, So I don't
have that problem. Maybe Joshua does. He is a caffeine problem. Oh
most Americans too. But that's all right, yeah, I mean there are
there are far worse advices than that. So yeah, no, it's good
that you did the due diligence, so making sure that that was available,
you know. Yeah, I'm just trying to think ahead, you know,
just a case, because otherwise how do you promote that? Right? Get
like vices in dot band dot you know, your brother dot com, you
know. And I didn't want to do all that. I wanted something that's
easy to find, easy to read. I have a friend. I've told
this story on the air before, but more of an anecdote. But I
have this friend who and I won't say his name, but although if he
happens to be listening, he'll know I'm talking about him at this friend.
I went to high school with very talented guitarist and he I ran into him
a couple of years after hig school, hadn't seen him for a while,
and he said he had a new band. And I said, Oh,
what's the band? And he said it's called Intuition. I remember he said
that to me, and I'm thinking it's got to be how many other bands
have already used that name? I swear to god. I run into him
like six months later. I said, how's the band? He said,
good, but we had to change our name. We we got a ce
some assist letter from a cover band in Massachusetts using the name Intuition. Well,
yeah, of course it sounds like somebody's glam rock band in a ways,
Intuition. It's it's just it's just so it's too obvious. It's probably
been a million bands that have used that name, and it's like, oh,
what are you doing? You know? But no, So it's good
that you uh, it's good that you made sure we should play another track.
What do you have a request? What would uh? What should we
go with? I'd love to share another studio track. I really like all
of these to be honest, you never going to catch us. Now.
I don't have that one. I mean I think I think you sent it,
but I I went by the the ones I have ready to go are
the ones because there were specific tracks that you said you were kind of focused
on. I don't have that one on that list, so I didn't include
that. Yeah, well what about Oh we didn't play given in but not
giving Up? That's kind of a big song for you guys, right it
is. But it's like we've been like living on that song for four years.
Now. You know what else is on the list. We have faux
Personality Cinnamon. We played like, we played right through and and so it
has begun go right through. Okay, I hope you like it. That
other one, though, we should mention has a cool video. We don't
have to. We don't have to play the other one. We'll play right
through. But but I like that, but I like the video for that.
It's cool. Who did you who did you work with for the video?
I don't remember really? Uh did you remember? What? Was it
all? Diy or? Well? We there was Nick's brother, right,
yeah, yeah, I does don't remember his name though. This is during
the pandemic. We did that twenty twenty one. Okay, we were working
with another studio at the time. Oh really yeah, and the engineer's brother
did it, but we don't Okay, no, it's it's cool. It's
a it's a it's a well done video. But uh, we'll give this
a listen. This is right through And is this on the upcoming album or
is this already out? It is? Okay, cool, this is on
the upcoming album. And I can't remember if you said, do you have
an e t A on that one that's going to be outer? Yes,
the ackline Kiss who will be out in April April. Very cool and by
the way, thank you for the shirts. Uh so the band brought a
couple of shirts with uh this, I assume this is the Uh it's the
cover. Yet we're not on Facebook today so people can't see it, but
they'll see it in the picture. So that's the cover. Yeah, very
cool. What what is the meaning of that alkaline kiss? What? What's
Does that have a special meaning? Or this electricity? You know? Okay
and electricity between two people. Yeah, it could be a good thing,
it could be a bad thing if that's who it is. You look at
that picture that could be a good thing, bad thing, right, all
right? I think what I think about it is my business. Well not
anymore. You've shared it with the world. What do you think about it?
Which is good? All right? Let's give this a listen. This
is right through. This is from the upcoming album Alkaline Kiss. This is
Vice's inc. Check this out. It's but will they won't? They kind
talk the illusion of a choice and said, like the cat that's trapped inside
the box, I'm wondering if it's alive a day any man, they'll be
washing winds. Oh, they'll see them a coming and doing a man.
And when they are like him, I know they're gonna see right, it
said Roller Coast kind profetic tracks by Wach but pulling as I reach the top,
doing what goes up must come down. Any man, they'll be washing
winds. They'll see them my compa even mine. When the racome do,
I know they're not to see ride any man, and they'll be washings.
They'll see them a coming in mind. And when they go away, don't
day, I know they're gonna seawrid to They're gonna see right, They're gonna
see right to me. Any minute. They'll be washing and they'll see them.
I come then a mint and when they whip away from ay, I
know they're gonna seawrid to any minute they'll be washing with they'll see them.
Not come then a matting from the still gonna seawright. They'll see them from
doing They're gonna seawright. They're gonna see right. That is right through from
the upcoming album Alkaline Kiss from the band Visus Inc. And we have Visus
Inc. All the way from Portland, Maine with us here live in studio
and uh yeah, I was commenting while I was playing. I think,
I mean that would be I could imagine that doing pretty well at college radio.
I don't know if you've sent any if you've submitted anything, No,
we we we haven't set it'd be a good single. I was waiting for
echelone Kiss to come out before we heavily promoted it. Yeah, and so
yeah, so we've kind of not done yet that yet. Yeah, only
songs just you know, you know, got popular, like you look on
our top five. Full Personality Cinnamon are on a top five just because people
liked it. Yeah, but we didn't heavily promote it at all. We
haven't haven't promoted acelone Kiss at all yet. Yeah, yeah, when's it
coming out again? June? April April? We actually April that soon.
Two albums coming out this year, one called One's called Achelone Kiss and then
another one's gonna be called While You Wait, which was supposed to come out
before Kiss came out, but I changed my mind about it. Oh well,
no, why is that one? Because we were on tour and I
was overwhelmed and they needed a break and we all needed a break, and
we it's it's a combination of our normal style with maybe a Midwest evil thing
going on, and I thought it just wasn't the time for it. Yeah,
I thought, I've only Kiss should be our focus, and that's that's
the reason why. Yeah, I thought it just felt like a summertime then
really yeah, I know that makes any sense, but no, it does.
It definitely does get more a fun pop album. Wow, I've gone
Kiss is more darker, yeah you know, yeah moody. Yeah, Oh
very cool. Now are you doing a lot of shows before the festival or
are you kind of focused on the Eleanor has a lot of work to do
with Vocal Buys, so she needs the time to get ready and she's actually
making a film right now too. Oh and she's wasn't a film a lot
in two without twenty two books. And we actually did songs for that album
for that songtrack, and she's doing the sequel to that now what's it called
called Black Castles? Okay, so she needs time for that. Yeah,
And she'll talk more about you want or to And so she's getting you know,
doing vocals, going kids album down himself and then working on that.
So she's got a lot of stuff on her plate. Oh okay, yeah,
I am curious here more about that. Yeah. So my friend Robert
has a film company that he started himself called Accented Films, so local to
New Hampshire. And then he actually has partnered with some other New Hampshire filmmakers
and he set up a streaming streaming platform called Sparrow. Okay, so we've
been focused on like creating content for Sparrow and collecting content from other creators,
getting that all on there. So I've been helping him out with that a
little bit, and then we're gearing up to start like filming for Black Castles.
He finished the the U screenplay and it's it's awesome. I'm like so
so excited. We're trying some more like some bigger stunts and stuff like that.
So is this a sequel to the other movie? So what what's the
premise? So Rooks is about It's kind of like a sci fi sort of
premise, but it's about this group of eight people who have each have special
abilities, so superpowers, but not not like they're all like kind of scientifically
explained. So it's like a little bit grounded, very dramatic, serious,
but it ends up being kind of like a spy thriller. It's it's very
cool, Okay. Plus well, I wanted to mention that I hated some
short films based off of the movie itself, which are going to be premiered
in March, which I have ever talked about too, sorting a premiere event
in March for the four short films, and they're also going to be available
on Sparrow. And I directed one of the short films as well as I
was in one of the other ones. But the one that I directed,
I had Jagger do the score for cool Wow, It's all disco. Oh
very cool. So now so Rooks that's currently available, people can see that
okay, and that's on Sparrow. It's on Sparrow. It's also available on
Prime Video. Okay, okay, very cool. Totally filmed in New Hampshire,
or I believe, so. I think it's all very local. So
I want to say, all in New Hampshire. Maybe we did some in
Maine, Massachusetts and I'm not remembering, but yeah, a lot of stuff
in Portsmouth. We went up to northern New Hampshire. I forget the name
of the town. Yeah, for quite a bit of it too. Yeah.
Yeah, oh, very cool, very cool. What is it sparrow
dot com? Is it? Just believe? So yeah, I'm sure it's
easy to double check that you did. Be getting ready to that next?
Just google Sparrow streaming. Yeah yeah, yeah. We Oh very cool,
very cool. All right. Now, So so Alkaline Kiss in April,
you said, and then and you've got the festival coming up in March?
Was that March ninth? March ninth? And then we go on tour in
April and they got another album come out in the summertime, and then another
war in August, and then we're gonna break up. Wow, all right,
Well, you know, finish it right, you know you gotta do
you have a beginning and an ending? Yeah? No, but uh well
I hope you don't break up. I mean, like I said, I
really like your music a lot. You got a great you got a great
sound, you got a great thing going. Absolutely Where should people go online
to find out? Uh? I mean obviously at the festival is vicest vices
fest dot com. What toast of the websites? Come on, Christy,
it's vices inc. Dot com. Oh, vices vices inc dot com?
Okay for the band, yeah yeah, very good. Also Instagram places dot
Inc. Dot band on Instagram, Facebook, I think those places thin Twitter,
it's much better or whatever. Yeah, I refuse to call it that.
You know, we're on the Facebook. Obviously, we're on the Spotify.
Could check us out? What you do on that? Yeah, you
know we're over the place. Well the deezer Oh yeah, deezer. Yeah,
I'm aware of it. We know the thing that I'm much about to
be the We just know that we're on it. And uh, I agree
about not calling Twitter X because if you say X, people don't know what
you mean. You know, it's too like the band X. Yeah,
yeah, it's like or you know, or they think you're talking about ecstasy,
you know, like like I was on ex e. Oh really I
saw my axing? What yeah, exactly? Yeah, too confusing, too
confusing. Listen, thank you all for being here. This has been wonderful
and I and like I said, I appreciate you traveling too. It's a
bit of a haul from from Portland and so we loved it. You know,
we'll, you know, hope maybe to do it again someday you want
to hear it? Oh, absolutely no, you will definitely be invited back.
Maybe we performed for you. Oh yeah, that'd be cool. That'd
be cool. I mean it'd have to be something, you know, we
only have so much space in this room. But yeah, yeah, exactly
exactly, But no, that would be cool. I would love that,
and we will. We will close out the segment in a moment with one
more song. I do want to remind everybody too, before we finish out
today's show, don't forget the big event today four to eight pm at Mosaic
Art Collective, sixty six Handover Street on the second floor. Jenny has one
of her amazing paintings included in this exhibit, so really looking forward to that.
Come down, say hello, Jenny and I will be there. That
is that is happening today. So it's a big day for Jenny. Very
proud of her. And what should we close with? And so it has
begun even though it's the end of the show. That's a really different song
for us, So let's do it, all right, that's a really different
project for us. All right, so we will will close out with this
again. Vices Inc. Thank you so much having us absolutely absolutely and we
will do it again in the future. And all right, so we will
close with this, and of course if you miss any part of today's show,
it will be up in just a little bit at w m n Hradio
dot org and at my website Mattconnorton dot com. And here it is to
