the way, the track you just heard, of course a moment ago,
Chasing the Devil, the brand new single we've been doing the world radio premiere
today. The song is called Drowning. Absolutely love it. Jay Bellow,
the singer from Chasing the Devil, is in the chat room and he was
saying thank you to us for spinning it, but happy to do it.
I loved Beautiful Nightmare, the first single we did the world radio premiere for
that. That was a while ago now like jeez might have been a year
and a half ago now it was. That is another song that's going into
my playlist, absolutely absolutely and we will play that again too. We'll play
it at the top of the hour again at eleven am and of course later.
We've also got Eric Pilcher's classic film review coming up as he continues to
celebrate or the last installment actually of Orson Wells. His Orson Wells series for
the month of April. And in the third hour we also have the band
Already Dead coming in but right now joining us. In this hour, we
have returning to the program. I think uh, I think this is your
third appearance on the show. The great Ricky Mapleton is here. Thank you
for having me on. Matt absolutely welcome back. And uh, yeah,
if you feel free to pull that mike a little closer, these mics are
Yeah, you got to talk right into him. But uh, how are
you How have you been? Have you uh? Have you been recording new
music? Have you been? Uh? I've been on a promotional tour really
yes, for Scream of sports songs, celebrating all that sports can, should
and might not be or be. What's interesting to me about this? Uh,
you know, and we we played some of these songs the last time
you were here, of course, And and uh, it's interesting. I'm
not a sports fan, yes, but I am a fan of your sports
songs. This is celebrating sports as well as poking fun at sports as well
as you need to go out and take a walk. It's good for you
in sports. Oh, oh, trim what we're looking for. There's a
lot going on primensional Is that a word? I trimensional does not sound like
a word. What did you say this morning with Manchester venomous, vermous?
Uh? Ven you said it was on the your your intro we were in
like manch Vegas, Manchangelists, Manchachusetts. It was I think I think I
just said Manchester. It was on the recording. Oh, coming you from
something? Oh, the the promo there for the Oh, I don't even
remember. That wasn't me that, that's not my voice on the promo that
was that caught me that that was good? But it's h wasn't venomous,
It wasn't. No, no, certainly not venomous. You know anymore of
the Manchester, manach Vegas, manchi Angelo's, Manchachusetts, Manchghanistan, My goodness,
uh, manch Vegas. Of course, yeah, that's the standards excellence
and well. And then of course there's manster Dam where the great television program
hosted by Peter Whitet. You see, Manchester is just a city of many
names, many Manches as we've discovered many Manches. Yes, yes, now
do you are there, You're you're familiar. I don't get out much uh
huh uh for my own shoosing. I suppose I don't blame you, but
is there any bars or things that that do ax throwing? There is an
ax throwing place on brown alf I think Okay is a brown ap Yes,
so that was my little intro to I think I sent you over a song
called ax throw or ax throwing songs? Yes? Yes? Uh? Could
we discuss this before you play it a little bit? Or oh please,
I'd love to Uh, I'd love to get the back story. And this
will be a world premiere correct? Oh, a world we do like the
This is like the triple World premiere, right, you have like three of
them today. I'm holding up all the world premiere? Is I covet that
what I'm holding up right now is an axe? It is a I think
they call them fake axes or the ones they use when they play kids run
around and play hit themselves with styrofoam? What is that? I have never
boughten my a styrofoam acts to chase his friends with the ordered the special yea
for my promotional to Okay, okay, so that styrofol yes, okay,
So you can't because I have to tell you, Ricky. There there was
a moment there when you pulled that out, I thought, this is it
is gone over the edge. Is Ricky going to uh well hack us to
death? Quite frankly? Uh So I'm glad that that's That's why I wanted
to introduce it before the song. Okay, all right, man, let
me let me hand it to you can kind of take the fear out of
it. Okay, let me thank you? Yes? Oh okay, yeah,
yeah, if I can handle it safely, it's definitely safe because I'm
very much a klutz. There's a there's a game that they play when they
run around people run around and they like do fake battles. Yeah, yeah,
what's you know what that's called? Like like LARPing? LARPing. Yes,
so when I was on Amazon Prime sponsoring them, but I wish I
could. Yeah, I looked up larp axes. Oh okay, okay,
so that's a lark. Yeah, yes, and it looks good. Did
you get very real? Did you get scared when you pulled it out?
I didn't know what was about to happen next. Well, there's a lot
of heavy metal going on. I'm just I would suggest not walking down the
street with that. That might get but yeah, for a brief moment I
thought, wow, this is how, this is how I died. Very
you all as well? Okay, good, good. So did you go
to the bar where they're throwing an axe against the wall. I've not been
there. I've never actually been there. What ixists on part two of promotion
of promote I can't even talk of talking about more of the stuff that's on
my scream of sports song. Yes, ah, how could you? We
were sitting around saying, what's a weird sport? And looked on the TV
and there's people throwing an act. So this is considered a sport? Yes,
yes, okay, but I think it's more. I think they made
it more. You go there, you have a few libations, if you
would, and then you go into a cage and throwing act. And that
was the basis of this song. The song talks about what could go wrong?
What could go alcohol with Hatchet. The first first lyric is I have
a belly full of beer? What can go wrong? I think I'll throw
an axe against the wall because that's what go with a little metal behind it.
Well, you have a belly full of beer. There's all kinds of
things, even without an act, there's all kinds of things that can go
wrong. So yes, so that's the kind of a setup for the song.
Okay. And when I did the midlife pop culture show that I do
once in a great while, Yes, that when I went on there,
I uh if you can see there a little red on here. Yeah.
So what I did was I threw it against the wall in this TV studio
over here. Oh, ran to get it, had some ketchup smeared it
all over my face, and then came running in. Yeah, still doing
the acts. Wow, What did I learned from that? Ketchup? Kind
of stinks? It was? It was organic? Oh okay, and it's
not really as red as you think it's gonna be, right the four people
that watched it. But it's on YouTube if you want to see the actual
act throwing video yo, yes, oh okay, Yes, it's action packed.
You did that right here and right here. Yeah, I did an
ax throw kite fight. Other songs that I didn't I didn't do the first
time. Oh, and there's videos for these. Well, it's a short
little fifteen minute video of the four or five songs. Oh I got you,
I gotcha, So don't go to Can I do a public service message.
Oh please, ladies and gentlemen, this is Ricky Mapleton. Don't go
to a bar with and get into a cage with an axe. Nothing good
will come from it. Yeah, as far as I guess, it's some
sort of exercise, it's some sort of and then you they have it's like
a target almost if you look it up to No. No, they go
against like a big tree stump that looks like a dartboard. Oh and the
the pros doing. I dressed up today my ax rowing outfit. Oh okay,
okay, So I got my flam jack shirt, umberjack shirt. I
put my let's put my hat on backwards. I'm feeling I'm feeling as I'm
a lumberjack, and I'm okay okay finished the lyric. I don't remember how
the rest of I'm a lumberjacket. I'm okay, Python. I'm not as
big a Python fans. Perhaps I work all night in a sleep all day.
Yeah, it goes on from there, goes takes a left turn.
But it's funny. The song called yeah Yeah, Well, I haven't heard
the song since I was a kid, probably, but that's okay, Oh
my god, you've heard it at some point. But okay, So acts
drinking bad idea, act throwing song bad idea. But you're gonna do it?
No gonna throw? Well, I think it's my voice always sounds better
surrounded by a lot of guitar. There you go, all well, let's
all right, Well let's give this a listen. I'm right to hear it
now. So here it is. This is ax throwing by Ricky Mapleton as
got to billy full of beer, no ambition at all. I think golf
row and axe against the wall. Maybe it's not such a good idea.
What could go wrong? Me An axe in a cage, more dangerous stunt,
peo palm. Maybe I should read the owner's manual before I step inside.
My first row is to the side, the next one flanks off the
wall. The handle breaks in two. It's when the eye blop runs out
of my face? What am I into the ass row? Blood starts to
drip on my face. I leave the cage and disgrace with my head down
to boost and cheers as scroll and the ass scroll. I'm gonna throw that
axe in a cage, Gonna throw that axe and a rage and gonna go
to the bar into the ass row. Maybe I should display ping pong.
Maybe I should play some pool. I'll think I'll act like a fallen go
throw an axe, ass throw, don't target. Nice work, glad to
practice now you don't feel like a jerk. You're the best axe all around
you knowing nobody's axe clown. Well, of all the songs I've heard about,
throwing access, that's my favorite. I like that one. But follow
the story. Yeah, well, I mean to be the I'm Bob Dylan
of AX story. Yes, I yeah, clearly, I want to take
the listener on a musical adventure. Yes, some wisdom and it's a warning
song as well. Yeah. Yeah. The whole thing is really like a
public service announcement. I want to where is the AX storing place? It's
spread brown? Have you said? I think so bloody brown? A f
they? I mean, I heard about it, but yeah, yeah they
must have. I think we need to do some investigation. I should have
done some investigation before I released at Well, you could, uh, you
might want to approach them about some sort of sponsorship opportunity. They could be
playing axtro r. Yeah, that would be pretty awesome. While I was
watching I was watching pickleball on on ESPN twelve or whatever it was, Like
I I still can't get over that. They look fantastic and that's not what
a pickleball player looks like though you see on these women are beautiful, the
guys are all ripped. That's not a pickleball player. Yeah, no,
that's an act that's not an actro what's what's the definition of an actra?
What would you think of guy that drives a truck? Yeah? Yeah,
where's the flannel shirt? Like watching worker? Like really just living life to
a right? Honey? Excuse me? So so mac uh. If I
were to say, honey, I'm I'm going out tonight, and as my
wife always says, good Yeah, that's why mirrors works off the door you
go. If I said I'm gonna go to acts throwing, yeah, how
does that even sound like some thing you would even want to check out?
Well? See, like I, like I mentioned earlier, I'm driving down
Elm Street. Look out, I'm gonna go at throwing. Okay, guys,
let's see. In my case, I'm such a klutz. I don't
I don't handle anything sharp. Okay, Jenny can attest to this, Yeah,
yeah, like I don't even I don't like to cut things. I
don't like to handle cutlery. If I am using a knife to cut food,
I do it very slowly. I'm not even kidding when I say this.
I do it very slowly and deliberately. Yeah, you have power,
drill is mine? Yeah? Yeah, okay, you know what? Me
with the d I live the same dream. I just can't do it.
Really, I can't do it. I mean I try change the light bulb,
put some four on stuff. I tried to light bulb. I can't.
I don't enjoy it. I don't like being on a ladder. But
what do you feel about lawn care? Oh? No, goodness. Now
we live on a second floor for a reason. Oh yeah, no,
like owning a home. Just the thought of going and mowing my lawn makes
me cringe. I love the smell of freshly cut grass. Yeah. I
got a new lawnmower this year, new use lawnmower. So that's another thing
that would be dangerous for me, because it's evolving a tool. See anything
involving a tool. There's a theme here. Yeah, And we're not ashamed
of it. We we relish our roles that we are very good, and
that's that's what makes it. I am the power tools. That's what makes
relationship. But I was the MT I like Diesel. Yeah, yeah,
I tried to plug it. I tried to plug a tire once that didn't
go well. It was adorable watching him try. Though. You come in,
you walk in, and and there he is with the tire, a
YouTube video and a kit, you know, crying so hard. Sometimes you
have to hunt. It's okay to ask for help. Yeah, took me
a long time to figure that out. More wisdom. Don't play with the
axes, right, It's okay to ask your significant other for help. Yeah,
well I did get help with the tire. I kept my appointment that
I'd made. But you tried to do it yourself, I went, I
did try to do at the effort for trying. I thought it was absolutely
marvelous because and perfectly acceptable to have some trouble with it and get a professional.
Did he try? Well? Did you have the kid? Yeah?
I got. I got a kid at Walmart. They make it look so
easy, like like the Triple A guy when he comes and does it like
he makes it look so easy. He's just like, oh, yeah,
there you go, you know, but uh, but no, I I
struggled when I feel, I feel you're pained a lot. Yeah, I
just got a new I've been really stalking up this year in my lawn equipment,
which killed about like ten dollars. You know, people spend thousands of
dollars. Oh yeah, oh yeah, but oh mine kind of do what
I was sixteen, I was changing my own oil. Got yourself a keeper
the down. Yeah, yeah, I don't do that anymore these days.
Yeah, you would think that somebody of our ethnic background, we're not really
known for tools. I guess like a little Yiddish perhaps, or a little
uh. We were doing some Yiddish last time I was here, remember,
Oh that's right. Yeah, my dad taught me how to change the oil.
You made sure I could change the oil change Attaia won't catch me doing
any of that. No, no, no no. When I got to
drivers that it was great because they always pick on the girls and they were
like, nope, you out of there. You know what you're doing.
I don't think they teach that anymore. No, No, I don't understand
why they wouldn't teach at least how to take the lugnuts off. And now
I did with my oil. He knows how to check fluids, and of
course I taught him all of those things. But yeah, people just don't
teach anymore. They just they go to a place and they really don't deal
with their own vehicles anymore. We could do an hour on education. We
could do a lot on it. You know, there's a guy on YouTube
that actually does that. He's a he's a dad. He's like, if
you didn't, here's it's the dad like channel. And he shows you all
the things that you should have learned how to do. He shows you how
to do it. I think it's awesome. Like just as far as changing
wincholwipe or fluid, putting that in the right spot, yeah, that's I'm
terrified I'm gonna put it in the wrong uh, the wrong play. You
always see clips on like Facebook and stuff like oh mechanics, like, oh
this guy put winter white flute in his oil thing. Yeah it was probably
not good for it. No. Hans Smith from the band Sepsis says,
Matt, if you ever need a tire change, call me. Well,
I usually call I usually call Triple A. I don't do it myself for
you. It's the one time. It was the one time he tried yeah,
yeah, yeah, I tried that one. It was an excellent effort.
When did you try to do the tire plug? Oh, this has
been a while. That was a while ago. It's been at least a
year. I bought a drill last two months ago. It's still sitting.
Really. I looked at you. Yeah, I love I have big hopes,
big hopes. Yeah, well that's where it starts, right. You
gotta have a dream. My dream is not. I wish I was more
mechanical. I really do learned on the fly. Yeah. See me being
me has attachments to clean with. Mm hmm, so I don't have to
do the scribing power, that's true. Should we uh? Should we play
another? Uh? Some of these we did play last time, which is
fine. We can play them again, certainly. But is there is there
a one of these that we didn't? Did I do armshare Quarterback? We
did play that one before. I don't remember playing this one though. Cross
country, Run, cross country? Everyone. I have to say at this
moment, the ax throwing one is my favorite. Now this one, Uh,
I wish I could. It's like a dance. I'm starting run run,
run this country. Yeah, everybody makes up again. It sounds a
lot better with my musical friends wrapped around my voice and a lot of rebourb
and echo ye yes, cross country, love it? Okay, we'll run
around all right, yes, all right. Run. Let's give this run,
run, Let's give this a spine. I love it. Run run
cross country up hill town kill. It's not just the fun run run cross
country, meaning from the knee to chase my bees, bun run roun cross
country. Everybody makes the team. Now, come on, run run run
cross country. Tell me I'm almost there. Here we go. Now,
what happened to the last run up? You haven't seen him all day.
We must have got lost along the way. I hope they're okay. By
cross country. My parents morning me to join our team. Run cross country,
come to back out. It's like living a dream. Cross country.
Three point one miles to go, run run, run cross country? Who
by not that small run? Oh? I love the big chorus there.
That's unusual for you. You don't usually you don't usually do that that the
big like that run run run like that. I do That's I cannot take
credit for that, okay, pull, I cannot take credit for any of
the music on this. I'm so and that's why I'm so proud of this
music on here. Okay, because the gentleman that I'm working with, phenomenal
musician, Yeah, phenomenal, kept it George Martin. Me, okay,
I understand the reference. Yes, is it George Martin? He used the
right word, the Beatles producer. Yes. Look, I'm saying the Beatles
in the same breath as Ricky Mableton's frimo sports songs. That's a shame.
But anyways, he made it musical. Yeah, you know, he made
the timings, the the courses, the production. Okay, phenomenal And if
you're listening, thank you again. Even though I can't say your name,
I was gonna say I was I was gonna go by m c mc coal.
Oh okay, well that's a hint at least, because the last time
you're here, I asked you and you said he needed to remain incognito.
Yes, well, if you work with uh Riky Mapleton sometimes you want to
be no. But in all, seriously, I'm just really super That's why
I wanted to come on again. I'm like, why we did five or
six songs? Yeah, last time you were here, and I'm like,
you know, there's some more stuff that I think would make people laugh on.
I love these two new ones. Yeah yeah, these are my favorite.
I'm not even kidding, like I really love these. Along the foul
shot or last time. I don't think we did that one. We are
What am I holding your That's a like a nice orange it looks like a
basketball, but a very small We talked about my budget last time. Oh
yeah, yeah, okay, So the setup for this song is every kid
has the nightmare or the privilege of their parents putting him on some sports team,
but they may and may not. You're gonna try everything. Johnny's playing
basketball so on the city league, so you're gonna join. I don't want
to play, you got it? You get pushy parents living through their kids.
Next thing you know, the kid finds himself on a basketball team.
Girlfriend might show up from junior higher, Aarons show up, Grandma's in town.
Let's go to see Ricky's basketball game. And what do you think Ricky's
saying the rest of the kids, Oh my, did this happen to you?
It's it's base How do they say it's based on a true story?
Okay, okay, but but that happens all the time. Yeah. When
I used to take my kids to their soccer games wrec games, you would
see the same scenario. Kids that just don't want to be there. Kids
are having a great time, right, So that's just songs about a kid
that goes to the three point line at the end of a game. His
girlfriends in the audience, his parents are in the audience. He's trying to
make the shot. Yeah, that's the three fro three free throws. I
can never say that either free throw. There we go. I did say
it. Boy. Yeah, I'm not much of a basketball fan either.
Yeah. I think any sport that they're playing music during it can a little
boring. Do you think of that? I never thought of that done.
And as they're dribbling down the court, they're playing music that's not just the
Harlem Globe trotter. Oh okay, because they have that song with the whistling.
That's good. Yeah, hang on, sweet Georgia Brown. Yeah all
right, well so we'll we'll give this a list. I'll listen. Then
this is called foul shot song. I try to make it simple. There's
no there's no Houses of the Holy. No that's good. No, that's
good. It's all you know. Like in this no meeting. There's there's
no hidden meeting. You know how in the nineties, like all the grunge
bands, they'd released these songs that where the titles didn't even relate to the
lyrics at all. It was very confusing. So I commend you for this.
I hope I hit another three point shot with this song. Oh well
played played, ha ha, Okay, here we got till. This is
foul shot song by Ricky Mapleton. Basketball song, basketball sound. It's a
basket ball song. Here we going down. Ten seconds to go up for
a way up. You know you get push in the bag, fell into
the wall, get a technical foul, Good call round, good call,
Ram, you need one to tie to the wind. Boy, place goes
quiet. Let's get me gay. Look up at the stands. You see
your girlfriend standing there, Your mom and dad are looking on, and all
the fans are cheering along. Canda had time for the foul shot. Time
for the fowl shot, Time for the fowl shot, Time for the fowl
shot. You're lining out up, taking a deep brad, spinning that ball,
flick of the wrist. It's in, it's in. Now it's tied
up, and you're going for the wind. Come on, come on,
come on, taking a deep breath, taking a dribble point foint, it
goes up in the air. You're the hero of basket ball victory. You're
the hero of basket ball victory. You're the hero of basketball victory. Bigtory,
fast basketball basket ball song. Wait a minute, though, So we
were just talking about how the song is called foul shot song because it sounds
like you should be called basketball song. True stand in shame. Yeah,
I was gonna say, I mean, that completely invalidates everything we were just
talking about. WHOA. I was kind of thinking that too. I mean,
you know you there, you threw you threw us a curve, which
I realized is actually a baseball reference. Curl mixing, mixing, mixing my
sports the babe, huh could I share something? Yes, yes, please,
that's what we do. I am. You're not only sitting next to
Screamo sports song. Ricky Mapleton. Yes, probably the probably the most uninteresting
thing you had going on today. But I hold the record for fastest foulouts
at a city basketball game when I was a young teenager. Really, I
fouled out of the game in twenty four seconds. Twenty four seconds. Now,
what does that mean? You fouled five foules per game per in basketball.
So if you push somebody by accident, foul you push? Oh,
you hit somebody on the wrist, foul. Okay, okay. So I
started. It was very early in the game. Boom boom, boom.
I was out in twenty four seconds. Oh my parents were not impressed.
So and then so you're out for the rest of the game. Once it
happens here, I threw my shirt down in disgust and went and ran out
the door. Really, this is the twelve year old me. Wow.
Yeah, it was awesome, And I look back and said that was great.
Yeah, but you know it started off jump shot. I hit him
in the elbow on the way up. Then the guy was warming down the
court. He was going for a lay up, a game, just a
little nudge, a friendly hello, yeah yeah, another one swore at the
ref technical boom, boom boom. So you were a beast of a player.
No, maybe not in the right way, but I was. I
was trying to well, the idea for sports isn't it to give kids a
outlet for their energy and his anger? Yeah? Yeah, so I was
just not impressed. I wasn't impressed with anything that was happening in my life
at that time. Yeah, when you're twelve and thirteen, right right?
Yeah, so all right, by the way, so we have a request
in the chat room our friend, our friend j Bellow from the van Chasing
the Devil, come on, he and I think he. I think he
was in the chat room the last time you were on with us. Thank
you for texting. Yes, he would like us to play. And I
did find it and pull it up because it's not one of the ones you
sent me for today. But but he requested the pickleball song. Really,
yes, so I think we should play it. And you've got your uh.
I cleaned up my garage and I found my bag of goodies, yeah,
amongst other things, and this pickle ball and this pick of ball.
Yeah yeah, so here here's the original pickleball. Well that's fortuitous, all
right, So let's let's play this for our friend Jay. All right,
he's requesting, thank you for requesting the pickleball song. Here we go.
Oh except sorry, let me try that again. Here we go, got
too bad, ees one of mine to replace it, and myself want to
go out play pickleball in Big Bomb, where you say lies go out and
in a ball kind of black tennis, just a little small. You'll think
you're the can the car. When you're running around and you're pickle ball shorts
playing bigle Bomb, Gray say out of my lies, playing Big Bomb,
where you say lies gold out and in a ball kind of black tennis.
Just a little small. You'll think you're the can the car when you're running
around and you're pickle ball shorts, so out and hit a ball kind of
like tennis. Just a little small. You think the cord when you're running
around. And that is the pickleball song started it all. Part of the
whole Screams. That was the first song, was it? Yeah, And
we shook our heads and said, wow, I truly wish that our listeners
could see what you're holding. So I'd like to describe it. You have.
He's actually holding a beautiful pickleball paddle. I've never seen one like it.
Is that hand painted, No, I don't think so. It's beautiful.
It has a motorcycle, an older style motorcycle, on one side near
water, and you have people on the other side. You're getting ready to
surf into the ocean. It's just really pretty. I've never seen one that
pretty. Yeah, that's what kind of drew me to it. And at
the lower price of the graphite professional you will be able to see it.
Uh. There is video of it because we're on the Facebook so so so
if I really I agree with you, Jan, this is really nice.
It's really pretty. The backside with the motorcycle l right on the edge of
the water like that actually kind of reminds me of the Netherlands, minus the
mountain in the background. Anyway. Yeah, but for whatever reason, it
makes me think of the canal. The more expensive ones are made of your
way off, Mike Cricket. We can't hear you. The other ones,
the more expensive ones are made of graphite. This was made of wood and
caught my attention to it. Besides, oh good, this is only twenty
dollars, yeah versus it was the picture is that like an Indian motorcycle.
I don't know much about what you know what I think that is an Indian
now that you mention it, you know, I just finally realized that was
an Indian motorcycle. Right. I think you're right. I think that's what
it is. It really wants now has anybody gone and seen if they pick
them all courts are open? When are they? When did the when is
Manchester open them up? I have no idea. Even though we had Indian
rock is we had they made the finest sports into pickleball courts. It's really
gotten really popular. Yeah, a lot of gray hair athletes down there.
When I went the first time and saw it happening and there h and as
you reference in the song too, because I think we talked about this last
time, there's there's a certain shorts, pickleball shorts. Yes, I didn't
wear my pickleball shorts today, but they're a little chili for that. No,
well they go. These are my I'm I'm you're probably saying, who
am I wearing today? Yes, I'm wearing the APL Amazon Prime line.
Okay, okay, APL Amazon primeh in Amazon Prime shoes. Got this on
Amazon Prime. So very nice. Yeah, yeah, very nice. I'm
wearing If anyone's scarious, I'm wearing Walmart today. Okay, except for my
shirt. I've got my Chasing the Devil shirt. I like it. Yes,
Yes, I'm wearing war Hogs war Hog yeah T shirt. Do you
have any APL on the Amazon Prime. No, but I think Walmart is
good. I had a very good experience with come from surprisingly surprisingly. Yeah,
I'm cheap when it comes to myself. Yes, exactly. Well that's
the APL way. Yes, No, I wentn't even worse than that.
I went Wall World, Wally World. Yes, that's okay too. Then
the APL Yes, did you actually go into the store once in a blue
moon? Once in a blue moon? Most of the time I order online
and fix it up. Well, be honest, the one and hooks,
it is nice. I like going into that actually, yes, but still
I just love you know, retail stores. We went over this last time
I was here. How they took advantage of us for years and years and
years and getting dragged around, getting dragged around for this fork to get a
toaster for fifty cents. Lest right now it's like click click click, goodbye
Kmart. Yes, indeed, Oh we're losing all track. Oh my goodness,
sorry, uh now is there? Let's see, I'm looking at the
songs you sent me. I just I want to make sure that we that
anything that we didn't play last time that we do play this time. I
think the rest of these I mean, I don't mind replaying something we played
last time. I just want to make sure we definitely get in all the
new ones that we do flag on the field last we did, and I
have I didn't send you over, but what I am holding. I went
for the first time disc golfing. Oh okay, that's a big business disc
golf moly. Yeah? Was it fun? Was it fun? Yes?
I'm still feeling the effects of it. Yeah, it's free. Unlike golf,
it's it's you. It's it's it's you. Break chains is when you
hit chains. Yeah yeah, and this is it's if you ever played frisbee
when you were a kid. Oh yeah, So it's pretty much the same
thing, except your your hand grip is not like this. Yeah, you're
kind of putting it underneath. And I was doing okay, okay, but
the back nine, I guess you could say I was tired. Yeah,
throwing the thing. It's exhausting. Where did you go? Where did you
play? Called the Hollows? It's in Manchester? Okay, And it's really
it's no cost, it's really it's interesting. Oh did I I don't think
I sent you that over. It's probably on YouTube somewhere. If you want.
That's an I wasn't really totally throlled with the song. Oh, but
it's disc golf. Did I send you what else? You did not send
me that one? I'm just gonna okay, I was just gonna. I
am gonna look on YouTube though quick. This is this is the new thing
though, disc golf. There's a guy named h Ricky uh Wassaki who has
a song called disc golf. But your your name is Mapleton, I think,
yeah, okay, so no, it's not sport. It's under scream
o sports songs. Yeah, let me see here, but that's okay.
Flag on the what if I send you over flag on the field. No,
I don't think you sent me that one either. I've got uh,
let's see, I've got kicking a field goal. I think we played that
one last time, but we can play it again, Oh, armchair quarterback.
We definitely played that last time, I remember, but that was a
good one. I like that one. I think we played kicking a field
goal, but I'm not I'm not entirely sure. Should we play that one?
Yeah? Sure, We're already played a cross country and foul shot.
Let's yeah, let's play, let's play and of course, yes, that's
uh, that's an instant classic. I like that one. No, I
like that do? I like that one very much, very much. But
uh yeah, let's uh, let's listen to this one. This is uh
kicking a field goal? Okay, bye by Ricky Mapleton scream O Sports Songs,
scream No sports Songs. Where can people find that? Right on YouTube?
All all over the place? Squamos sports songs? Okay, but is
it on the streaming services too? Yes? Oh okay, yeah, okay,
this main true? All right, very good, all right, but
I got my forty two dollars all right here. It is kicking a field
goal. It's fought a twenty what a year to do time for a field
goal? That's true. It's from sixty yards away. Come on, bring
all the special teens. It's kind of bundy when that you're back scores tied,
went two seconds to go? Balls place, step is coming balls down.
When the lace is out, it comes a kick balling it got talk
win picks it to the side and its flags it and stood water water flying
on the field on the sides. Think am not kicking the guy? It
comes to stout all the style laces out, can't get some it's talking about
and so got. It's straight taking field, so s s song. God,
I'm exhausted. Just yeah, no kidding. All you have to do,
man, is kick a ball fifty sixty yards consistently in your you're a
millionaire. Wow, that's pretty good. That's Have you ever tried to kick
a field? I have ever tried to kick a ball football? I feel
like, uh, I feel like I must have in gym class at some
point. It's just I had to. It's not easy. No, no,
no, well it's the thing. I mean a football is uh,
it's it's the way it's shaped is strange. So it's it's like, uh,
how do you kick that? It's not like a round like you know,
I would play kickball when I was like, yeah, that's easy.
It's a round ball or soccer. It's a round ball. It makes sense.
But a football, it's like it doesn't even make sense. Yeah,
it's not really. I guess it is geometric in some form, but yeah,
it's weird shape. Yeah. Do you believe all the conspiracy theories regarding
football has some sort of magnetized shield film inside and then when they and then
you see this, they see that. No well, wide receivers making these
incredible one hand catches. But the idea is they can turn that on and
off and the guy sticks his hands out. Now it's to his hand.
You're seeing a lot more great one handed grabs than ever. Oh and NFL
bought the company that makes football's, much like baseball bought Rawlings. Yeah,
who makes the baseballs? Okay, so the whole conspiracy theory is they're juicing
the balls because now it's coming from their factory. Oh, the same thing
with the football under their control. Wow. Wow, m Well that's sports
conspiracy. That's a whole other album, sports conspiracy. You think you can
get an album out of that? Well, we just maybe maybe an EP.
What do we have for that? We have magnetic balls. Baseball buys
the baseball company. H So there's two songs, right, Yeah. The
script. You always hear a lot of professional players saying that they get a
script when they start on. So there's a lot that kind of turns me
off of football actually in sports in general, because it's kind of it seems
like it's a lot a lot of times you hear how it rigged. It
can be it is years ago, if it is, if it is rigged.
Years ago, I knew a local professional wrestling promoter, this guy Steve
Langevin, who I think has passed away, but he I remember he tried
to tell me once that he was convinced that all sports was rigged in some
way, which I don't believe, but yeah, he claimed that everything was
predetermined, and I was like, no, I don't think that. I
don't know. I don't know. I don't know how you would do that.
Well, all it takes is three bad calls in the Super Bowl.
If you look at the first time the Chiefs won, when it's like two
minutes to go, and all of a sudden there was getting holding, holding,
holding, due, over due, over due, over. It was
so obvious to anybody, well, well not to me because I'm completely and
really kind of turned me off. I don't even know how many innings are
in a football game. I have no idea what you're talking about. That
I'm that ignorant. There was some questionable called by the ref at the end
of okay that makes you think, okay, maybe the fixes in all right,
Well, okay, I can I can understand why someone might be suspicious
that that makes sense. We are the time goes quickly. We are already
approaching the top of hour. I have a song picked out though, that
I would like to finish with your with with your permission, I would like
to end our segment because it popped up on YouTube and I remembered how much
This isn't one of the ones you sent me for today, but I remember
how much I like this one. The soccer chance song is awesome, So
I would like to close with that. But before we do, where should
people go? Tell us what people need to know about where to go on?
Like I keep it very simple. Yeah, Ricky Mapleton right on Facebook.
All my songs are on YouTube, yes, under Ricky Mapleton and uh
sorry, really to look up and that will connect you right into scream of
sports songs. Oh coffee. And I found the video by the way,
I'm gonna watch it later of you because you you you titled the video very
just. It's a very descriptive drips down my face as I'm throwing an axe
or something. Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna watch that. I don't think
you guys would appreciate me squirting all over the studio this morning. That would
not go over well. I would figure it's my only in the last time.
Yeah, yeah, that that would probably be my only or my my
last time here if if I'm sketch up squirt most popular sport in the world,
okay, yeah, most popup in the world. Oh and do you
want to plug the because you do the television show too, mid Life Pop
Culture Show. Yeah, sure, you can check that out. And that's
on YouTube as well. Okay, and you do that right in this building,
right yeah, every other every couple of weeks. Okay, that's us.
I would say exhausting. But remember I used to call I used I
used to maybe the first time, and I had people calling in, but
it was my voice calling. Yes, yes, I do that kind of
freak you out when I did that a little bit, I didn't. It
took you a while to kind of catch on the scenario, is what I
was trying to do. Well, it was weird. Yeah yeah, yeah,
nothing wrong with that. So just Ricky Mableton, Scrimmel, sports songs.
There is all sorts of stuff on there, from coffee, furniture,
dog names, things you shouldn't do, things you should do. Yeah,
you've got a ton of music on there. I'm close to a thousand.
Oh really, Wow, okay, okay, cool, But I would like
to mention Matt Farley as my guardian. Matt Farley Multra Media has twenty five
thousand songs. He holds the world record, Oh my god, for a
number of songs. Oh right, that's right. You talked about him last
time. Yeah, he's done, he's supposed to call in, But right,
Matt, But I still think you're awesome. All right, So soccer
soccer. So we're gonna end with this, and if you're listening live,
stick around because after that we're gonna play once again. We've been Today has
been the world radio premiere of the new Chasing the Devil track Drowning, So
we're gonna spin that again at the top of the hour, and then we're
gonna go right into Eric Pilcher's classic film review. And then we've got the
band Already Dead. I assume they are in the building that's not heard in
the excellent Already Dead. They've got a big show tonight in Nashua, and
they're gonna talk about it today on the show, and we'll share some of
their music. But meantime, check this out again. This is one of
my favorites. We listen to this the last time Ricky was here. This
is soccer chant song. This is really cool Ricky Mapleton, Thank you again,
my pleasure, thank you for having me on. You got it.
Spoo foo polue bos slinging on the fitch, scribble down between my face,
