Speaker 12: Oh what a great great track. I love that so
Speaker 12: much and that's a great way to kick off this
Speaker 12: week's Matt Connorton Unleashed. Hello everybody, We are live from
Speaker 12: the studios of WMNH ninety five point three FM in
Speaker 12: glorious but very wet and rainy Manchester, New Hampshire. The
Speaker 12: song you just heard is called Max Scene and the
Speaker 12: band is The Forensics. They are from the UK, and
Speaker 12: that is the American radio premiere of that track. You
Speaker 12: have not heard that anywhere else in the United States.
Speaker 12: The song will be released, of course, officially on all
Speaker 12: the stream streaming platforms and everything on the twenty third
Speaker 12: of May this month, so soon soon, and then the
Speaker 12: band is going to be here on the show, not
Speaker 12: here in person, of course, but joining us from across
Speaker 12: the pond on the thirty first of May. So really
Speaker 12: looking forward to talking to them. But that is the
Speaker 12: American radio premiere of the new track from the Forensics.
Speaker 12: It's called Max Scene. And we'll probably hit that again
Speaker 12: in the second and third hour two just to make
Speaker 12: sure that no matter when you tune into the show,
Speaker 12: you get to hear it. Because that is a great,
Speaker 12: great track. I love that so much and really looking
Speaker 12: forward to talking with those But you heard it here
Speaker 12: first on Matt connorton Unleashed here on WM and H
Speaker 12: ninety five point three FM. So today is Saturday, May ten,
Speaker 12: twenty twenty five, flying solo this morning. But Jenny will
Speaker 12: be back next week. She is in the chat room
Speaker 12: though I did see her in there. So but we've
Speaker 12: got a great show ahead for you. In just a
Speaker 12: couple of moments, we're gonna be joined by Awaiting Abigail.
Speaker 12: We did talk to James from the band briefly a
Speaker 12: little bit a few weeks ago. But if you are
Speaker 12: watching live, if you're watching the video feed on Facebook
Speaker 12: or YouTube or wherever you might see it, I do
Speaker 12: have my Awaiting Abigail shirt. They sent us a package
Speaker 12: of stuff, which is so much fun. And I'll tell
Speaker 12: you what these Texas bands especially, they do that, or
Speaker 12: Grim from Pennsylvania obviously, artists that we have joining us
Speaker 12: in studio who are from the area, they'll they'll bring
Speaker 12: stuff with them. But we always appreciate that a little
Speaker 12: bit of extra effort that it takes to actually put
Speaker 12: something in the mail and send it to us. So
Speaker 12: Awaiting Abigail sent us an amazing package of stuff, and
Speaker 12: they sent shirts for Jenny and I and a bunch
Speaker 12: of cool stuff. So we love getting We love getting
Speaker 12: stuff from our guests, and it's not something that we
Speaker 12: in any way require or request. They just do it
Speaker 12: and we love it and we appreciate it and appreciate
Speaker 12: them and looking forward to getting to talk to members
Speaker 12: of Awaiting Abigail. I'm not sure how many members are
Speaker 12: going to be joining us on the line. We are
Speaker 12: going to be doing a little bit of an experiment
Speaker 12: this morning. So if you listen to the show last week,
Speaker 12: we made radio history here or Matt Connerton on Leashed History.
Speaker 12: Sorry if I'm stumbling a little bit here. My full disclosure.
Speaker 12: I'll just say this right up front. My allergies have
Speaker 12: been brutal lately, so I need a gulp of water.
Speaker 12: It'll probably be having many many gulps of water to
Speaker 12: get me through the show today because I've just got
Speaker 12: all this congestion and you know, the pollen's been really bad.
Speaker 12: And then it rains, and I don't like the rainy
Speaker 12: weather because it's dreary and it makes me tired, but
Speaker 12: as it does affect a lot of us. But then
Speaker 12: I hope, well, at least it'll wash away at the pollen,
Speaker 12: some of the pollen, but I don't think it actually
Speaker 12: works out because I still feel very congested and allergy ish,
Speaker 12: if that's a word, which it's not. Anyway, Last week
Speaker 12: on the show, because Skype has been discontinued, so we
Speaker 12: used WhatsApp for the first time on Matt Connerton Unleashed
Speaker 12: our friend at Charles Richardson, host of The Charles Richardson Show,
Speaker 12: joined us from Florida using WhatsApp. Went okay. The only
Speaker 12: problem with WhatsApp is if you're using it on the desktop.
Speaker 12: I haven't figured out yet how to because it's really
Speaker 12: it's designed to be a phone app. I haven't figured
Speaker 12: out how to answer on the desktop. So there's probably
Speaker 12: a way to do it. But when I called so
Speaker 12: I had to call Charles, but he wasn't able to
Speaker 12: answer on his computer. He had to use his phone
Speaker 12: to answer, and he wanted to use his computer because
Speaker 12: he's got his professional mic setup and everything that he
Speaker 12: uses for his show. Sounded really good anyway, The sound
Speaker 12: quality was great, but would have sounded even better if
Speaker 12: he was able to actually use his microphone instead of
Speaker 12: his phone. But there doesn't seem to be a way.
Speaker 12: I'm sure, there's a way. I just haven't figured it
Speaker 12: out yet to use WhatsApp where you can just answer
Speaker 12: it on your computer, so it's a little trickier. So
Speaker 12: I came up with another solution, another service. I don't
Speaker 12: want to say what it is. I don't want to
Speaker 12: give away too much proprietary information, but it is something
Speaker 12: that I'm already used to using. And I sent James
Speaker 12: a link to this other service. Will we'll see if
Speaker 12: that works. He has the studio line number, so if
Speaker 12: that doesn't work, he can call the studio line. But
Speaker 12: we're gonna kind of use Awaiting Abigail as our guinea
Speaker 12: pig to make sure that the way we're doing it
Speaker 12: now works. Because Skype is no more. This little notification
Speaker 12: popped up that said Skype is discontinued or being discontinued,
Speaker 12: and now you can use Google Teams. But that's that's
Speaker 12: not what we need for this. So anyway, so we'll
Speaker 12: see what happens. We'll see what happens. But so Awaiting
Speaker 12: Abigail is going to be joining us. I got to
Speaker 12: keep an eye on that for when they pop in
Speaker 12: to the I think I'll hear I think I'll hear
Speaker 12: something in my headphones, a chime or something when they arrive.
Speaker 12: Coming up in the second hour, we have Trawl from Portland, Maine.
Speaker 12: These guys I've been aware of for a while, saw
Speaker 12: them live once. Great great band. They're driving down. I hope,
Speaker 12: I hope they travel safely in the rain. It's pouring outside,
Speaker 12: but they're coming down from Portland, so really looking forward
Speaker 12: to meeting them. And then in the third hour, we
Speaker 12: have Mike Frasier, who is driving here all the way
Speaker 12: from Seattle. No, I'm kidding, he is from Seattle, but
Speaker 12: he's actually on tour right now, but the way the
Speaker 12: tour routing worked out, he's able to come and join
Speaker 12: us here on the program. Jenny and I met Mike
Speaker 12: might have been a year ago at the shas Skiene
Speaker 12: in Manchester. He was playing a show there, and he's
Speaker 12: got a fascinating backstory. He's really been through a lot,
Speaker 12: but I think he's well play. We actually did a
Speaker 12: world premiere of his newest single, April Days here on
Speaker 12: the show a couple of months ago. But really looking
Speaker 12: forward to having him and talking to him. Some more
Speaker 12: really interesting guy and a very talented musician. Oh h
Speaker 12: we've got him coming on in the third hour, So
Speaker 12: lots to do today on the show. We've got a
Speaker 12: very busy show ahead of us. But welcome everybody if
Speaker 12: you are just joining. This is Matt Condorton Unleashed and
Speaker 12: we are live from the studios of w m n
Speaker 12: H ninety five point three FM. And of course, for
Speaker 12: all your streaming options, you can go to my website
Speaker 12: Matt conorton dot com slash live and you can join
Speaker 12: the audio stream there. You can click a link to
Speaker 12: join the video stream if you'd like to.
Speaker 9: Uh.
Speaker 12: Oh, I just heard a chime. That's a good sign.
Speaker 12: That's a good sign. I think this is gonna work. Okay,
Speaker 12: let's see now I have to add. I just clicked
Speaker 12: add to the stream and I hear I hear things.
Speaker 12: That's a good sign. I think this is gonna work.
Speaker 12: Can you hear me?
Speaker 13: Yes, I can hear you.
Speaker 12: Hey, all right, it works. It works. We're using uh,
Speaker 12: we're using some different software than we're used to using
Speaker 12: because Skype is Skype is, Skype is no more. Okay, wonderful,
Speaker 12: wonderful awaiting abigail, Ladies and gentlemen, who do we have uh,
Speaker 12: who do we have? Joined us? On the on the
Speaker 12: line here.
Speaker 13: Yeah, so this is Abigail Hill.
Speaker 12: I'm the singer of Awaiting, okay, and who and and is.
Speaker 13: Just I think James is supposed to join as well.
Speaker 12: Hm hmm okay, wonderful. So if I hear another chime,
Speaker 12: I'll know to uh, I'll know to add him. Okay, excellent, excellent.
Speaker 12: I'm just gonna adjust something here. I'm sorry I'm doing
Speaker 12: this live on the air, but I just want to
Speaker 12: make sure this is working, okay, because we're doing a
Speaker 12: little bit doing this a little bit different. So Abigail, Yeah,
Speaker 12: so welcome to the program. I became well. First of all,
Speaker 12: thank you for the wonderful package that that the band
Speaker 12: sent us. And I wear my uh waiting Jenny and
Speaker 12: I we wear our Awaiting Abigail shirts proudly and tell
Speaker 12: us about you know, we kind of got when James
Speaker 12: was on with us. Oh, I heard another chime. Let's see.
Speaker 9: What's going on up James?
Speaker 12: Welcome?
Speaker 9: What's up? Hey?
Speaker 12: This new software I'm working see I'm using seems to
Speaker 12: be working great. So thank you for thank you for
Speaker 12: kind of being our guinea pigs with us this morning.
Speaker 9: Hey man, we don't ever mind it. We're guinea pigs
Speaker 9: for a lot of stuff. We dig it.
Speaker 12: There you go, there you go. I'm relieved that it
Speaker 12: works and we're all able to talk. So yeah, I
Speaker 12: was about to ask, Abigail, can you kind of tell
Speaker 12: us now you told us when we had you on before,
Speaker 12: kind of the history of the band how it all
Speaker 12: came together and uh, But I'd like to hear a
Speaker 12: little more too, from Abigail's perspective, because it's a unique
Speaker 12: project in the sense that you know, it's multi generational
Speaker 12: and there's even a father and a daughter combination in
Speaker 12: the band, I believe, and the whole deal. So it's
Speaker 12: really interesting how this band uh formed, And Abigail, I'd
Speaker 12: like to learn a little bit more about you and
Speaker 12: how you became a part of the band that is
Speaker 12: now awaiting Abigail.
Speaker 14: Yeah, so I started off in musical theater when I
Speaker 14: was four, and when I was a little bit older,
Speaker 14: I went to this like in town in Tomball was
Speaker 14: this rock club thing.
Speaker 13: It is called all about.
Speaker 14: Music and Arts, and I actually got into a rock
Speaker 14: band with that, but it wasn't like a like a
Speaker 14: big rock band.
Speaker 13: We would just like practice covers just so we get
Speaker 13: the feel of it.
Speaker 14: And then I now am then college at ET Arlington,
Speaker 14: and I was like really wanting a band because I
Speaker 14: also make my own music. I do pop as well,
Speaker 14: but I kind of wanted a band to like help
Speaker 14: me out and like collaborate because I love collaborating. And
Speaker 14: so I got on this app called band Mix, and
Speaker 14: that's actually where I found James and he messaged me
Speaker 14: and I did an audition from the Pretty Reckless.
Speaker 13: We just did a video audition.
Speaker 14: He liked it, and then we he ended up flying
Speaker 14: me out to do a band rehearsal because I was
Speaker 14: in Houston for the summer, and.
Speaker 13: We did a band rehearsal with the full band. They
Speaker 13: liked me. So then there was the last test.
Speaker 14: The last test was to see if I could songwrite
Speaker 14: and then do in the studio to make sure, like
Speaker 14: you know, I was the one because he had a
Speaker 14: couple of other options, and.
Speaker 13: So I song wrote. I worked with my boyfriend, he's
Speaker 13: actually right here.
Speaker 14: We worked at meals on wheels together, so I would
Speaker 14: songwrite like in between the routes and stuff, and I
Speaker 14: ended up songwriting all four of the EPs, all four
Speaker 14: of the songs off of the EP of Bad Mind
Speaker 14: and he liked it.
Speaker 13: So we went into the studio and I guess the
Speaker 13: studio person he said that he liked me. So that's
Speaker 13: kind of what got me into the band.
Speaker 12: And yeah, so it's interesting that you mentioned so you
Speaker 12: had initially you had auditioned for the Pretty Reckless, and
Speaker 12: then you were able to use that audition to show
Speaker 12: that to James.
Speaker 14: I did it, auditioned for the Pretty Reckless, but he
Speaker 14: wanted me to sing a pretty reckless song.
Speaker 12: Oh I got you, okay, Yeah.
Speaker 7: Yeah, I just gave it.
Speaker 9: I just gave her a cover, a couple of cover
Speaker 9: songs to learn.
Speaker 15: You know.
Speaker 9: That was kind of like our initial screening is like
Speaker 9: and then you know, she made the she made a
Speaker 9: short order because those were you know, we could tell
Speaker 9: she really had some chops from that, and so I
Speaker 9: was like, well, the next real test is gonna be,
Speaker 9: you know, can she write songs? So we had four
Speaker 9: tracks already, the four tracks are on the EP. Those
Speaker 9: already existed before Abby was around, and uh, we were
Speaker 9: just kind of struggling to find a singer. I mean
Speaker 9: we were pretty selective, so we turned a couple of
Speaker 9: people away. But anyways, it's crazy because you know that
Speaker 9: music's uh everywhere, at least for a small band. And uh,
Speaker 9: that those four songs, she laid those down and just
Speaker 9: a couple hours, Uh after only rehearsing with us one time.
Speaker 12: Yeah, when something, when something comes together quickly like that,
Speaker 12: that's how you know you've really got something when it's
Speaker 12: you know, it just makes it kind of seem like
Speaker 12: it's fate.
Speaker 9: Yeah, totally, So, so.
Speaker 12: That's very cool. Are you working on You've got the
Speaker 12: four tracks that you've released from the the ep Bad Mind.
Speaker 12: Do you have more stuff you're already working on?
Speaker 14: Yeah, we do, actually, so we're actually doing a couple
Speaker 14: from my actual originals from my pop stuff. One is
Speaker 14: called Anxiety, so we transformed that into a rock song,
Speaker 14: and then they also had another rock song that they
Speaker 14: kind of wrote together, and so I just made lyrics
Speaker 14: to that, and you've been performing that live.
Speaker 13: It's called left Out.
Speaker 14: So we're gonna go in the studio and get that
Speaker 14: ready and then tonight actually we have a performance as Kida.
Speaker 13: So we're actually doing a new one that was also
Speaker 13: from my pop stuff. It's called fun House. So we're
Speaker 13: kind of getting new tracks out as well.
Speaker 12: Yeah, excellent. And where did you the ep? Bad mind?
Speaker 12: Where did you record this? Because it sounds phenomenal.
Speaker 9: Yeah, Alex Gerst in Empire Sounds Studio and Dallas. He's
Speaker 9: absolutely a legend and the production is top quality. And
Speaker 9: to be honest with you, we had originally gone in
Speaker 9: there with a different vocalist and he and I have
Speaker 9: been friends for a long time. We recorded with his
Speaker 9: dad and we're kids and we were playing and vocal bands,
Speaker 9: and you know, making the CD was a huge deal.
Speaker 9: So we've known him for a long time. But he's like, dude,
Speaker 9: this music's too good. You got to find the right person.
Speaker 9: But he's absolutely a legend. I mean, he does a
Speaker 9: lot of a lot of stuff that people can google
Speaker 9: him and check him out. He definitely he's definitely like
Speaker 9: an additional member of the band when we're working on stuff.
Speaker 12: Yeah, oh that's great. And what's the what's the live situation? Like,
Speaker 12: are you able to uh, are you able to do
Speaker 12: some live shows or because when you've got a you've
Speaker 12: got a large lineup of people and obviously it's you know,
Speaker 12: like we said, it's multi generational. I'm sure everyone has
Speaker 12: different levels of commitments and obligations that they have to fulfill.
Speaker 12: So I'm really curious about the touring situation.
Speaker 9: Yeah, so we're we're playing tonight actually here locally and
Speaker 9: for worth. Actually, yeah, we're Everybody is very easy to
Speaker 9: work with and it is a multi uh generational. It's
Speaker 9: pretty funny. We've got we've got pretty much every decade covered.
Speaker 9: But yeah, it's something that we all enjoy and so
Speaker 9: we're able to make time for it. We rehearse sometimes
Speaker 9: every week, sometimes every other week, but uh, we have
Speaker 9: our shows basically scheduled a month apart. As far as
Speaker 9: the touring situation will probably be like Weekend Warriors for
Speaker 9: a while. On that we've got. I wish that I
Speaker 9: could break it right now because it'd be kind of
Speaker 9: a huge deal. But we've got a little mini tour. Yeah,
Speaker 9: we've got. I just can't I asked, Uh, I asked
Speaker 9: the person that's putting it on, and I can't do
Speaker 9: it yet, but uh, stand by for a huge announcement
Speaker 9: for a little mini tour down in Florida coming up
Speaker 9: in September.
Speaker 12: Oh, very cool, very cool. Yeah, is that where you're from?
Speaker 12: Are you all in Florida?
Speaker 13: We're from We're based in Dallas, tex Oh.
Speaker 12: That's right, right, yeah, but to get to Florida's probably
Speaker 12: not not too bad. What what's the scene like in
Speaker 12: Dallas right now? From what I've heard from other guests,
Speaker 12: it's pretty good. There's a lot of really good bands
Speaker 12: there is that. Is that true?
Speaker 13: Yeah? I would say that's pretty true. There's definitely a
Speaker 13: lot of live music down there, and there's different genres too,
Speaker 13: which is really cool.
Speaker 12: Excellent, excellent. Do you have other do you have other
Speaker 12: bands that you kind of you know, it tempts to
Speaker 12: happen organically. Are there other bands in the area that
Speaker 12: you've kind of teamed up with as far as playing out.
Speaker 9: For sure? Yeah, for sure. Initially your buddy Mike from
Speaker 9: Moonfallen we played their first show, was our first show
Speaker 9: also back in December.
Speaker 12: Yeah, oh, very cool.
Speaker 9: Yeah, so we kicked that. We kicked the whole thing
Speaker 9: off with a women and metal show that was five
Speaker 9: female fronted bands, and man, it really set the tone
Speaker 9: for everything that we have done because we hung out beforehand,
Speaker 9: did like a pre show photoshet and like seeing the
Speaker 9: girls with Abby and like, it was just really cool.
Speaker 9: It's like a networking type of thing that I think
Speaker 9: has really paid dividends for you know, the whole, the
Speaker 9: whole thing so far.
Speaker 12: Well, I can tell you ever since we met Mike Woolsey,
Speaker 12: he's been He's sent us so many We've met so
Speaker 12: many great Texas bands and artists through him. You know,
Speaker 12: he refers people to us, and and it's it's been
Speaker 12: really great. You know, he's a great guy, and it's
Speaker 12: we've met so much great talent through him. I mean,
Speaker 12: Jenny can attest to that too. You know, she does
Speaker 12: all the booking, and you know, we love whenever Mike
Speaker 12: refers anyone to us, we know it's going to be
Speaker 12: someone of great quality. I can't remember if we talked
Speaker 12: about this, h when you were on the show with
Speaker 12: us before, James, But you've also got and I referenced
Speaker 12: a father daughter duo in the band, which is pretty
Speaker 12: unusual Mike and Corey.
Speaker 9: Yeah, it's super funny. Man Like. So, Corey actually was
Speaker 9: a former student of mine when I was teaching school
Speaker 9: public school band. So she was a percussionist in one
Speaker 9: of my early bands. I was like, I don't know,
Speaker 9: maybe four years out of college or something, and she
Speaker 9: was a great percussion student. And I didn't really stay
Speaker 9: in touch with her. But I connected with her dad
Speaker 9: through a local flying club, like a general aviation club,
Speaker 9: and we kind of made the connection and it was like, what, like,
Speaker 9: your last name is Tulfa. That's a unique name. And
Speaker 9: he's like, oh my gosh, you're mister Smith from whatever.
Speaker 9: But both but both of them are super cool, like
Speaker 9: they're literally down for anything. Like I could call them
Speaker 9: up today and say, hey, you know, y'all want to
Speaker 9: go to jump in the car and go to road
Speaker 9: trip or something, and they'd be like, yeah, we're in.
Speaker 9: And I knew Corey's background. You know, the percussionists in
Speaker 9: a public school at least around here have to learn
Speaker 9: a lot of keyboarding skills, not just drums, so I
Speaker 9: knew that. I knew she would be perfect for or
Speaker 9: you know, to put behind a keyboard for samples and
Speaker 9: different stuff like that. And then Mike has played guitar.
Speaker 9: He's the oldest. I'm gonna out him on this. He's
Speaker 9: the oldest. He I think he's sixty two right now,
Speaker 9: but he looks like he's like like in his forties.
Speaker 9: But yeah, anyways, yeah, so he's the oldest sixty two,
Speaker 9: and Abby's youngest twenty. But anyways, Mike had Put has
Speaker 9: played guitar for a long time, huge kiss fan to
Speaker 9: the Freest Guy, and so yeah, so I knew I
Speaker 9: could wrangle him in, Like he's kind of like you
Speaker 9: just say the word, and both of them are like that.
Speaker 9: They just show up and they're down through anything.
Speaker 12: Mm hmmm, Oh excellent. Now, so who's responsible primarily for
Speaker 12: the songwriting? Because the songs are really good? You had
Speaker 12: sent us a couple of singles which we did play
Speaker 12: the last time we talked to you, James, but but
Speaker 12: then I ended up playing an extra song. I played
Speaker 12: that song I Hate You, which I love that is
Speaker 12: so so catchy. But who wrote these primarily? Like, who's
Speaker 12: the print songwriter around these?
Speaker 13: Yeah, I would say I do.
Speaker 14: James kind of gave me. He gave me the like
Speaker 14: the soundtracks. Yeah, And what I did was I would
Speaker 14: just songwrite over them. And since I used to do
Speaker 14: like well, I still do pop music. But since I
Speaker 14: do pop music, I.
Speaker 12: Kind of know how to make it kind of catchy,
Speaker 12: makes sense.
Speaker 13: I think that's why it's fun to like transform it
Speaker 13: into a rock song. It's really fun.
Speaker 12: Oh yeah, yeah, especially like I said, I Hate You
Speaker 12: as such a great hook. You know, it's infectious and
Speaker 12: uh no, really good stuff that makes sense. I mean,
Speaker 12: is that is that kind of your prior to being
Speaker 12: in A Waiting Abigail? Did did you ever you know,
Speaker 12: because obviously you you've written a lot of pop music,
Speaker 12: but had you ever written anything quite like this where
Speaker 12: you're going into it with that sort of rock sensibility
Speaker 12: or is this kind of new for you?
Speaker 13: This is kind of new for me, So.
Speaker 14: I think it's kind of cool to to met in
Speaker 14: what I've known and I'm kind of of learning.
Speaker 13: More as I go.
Speaker 12: Yeah. Yeah, well you're off to a great start. So
Speaker 12: that's excellent. That's excellent. And have you done any videos?
Speaker 12: Does A Waiting Abigail have any videos yet? Any music videos?
Speaker 13: Yeah?
Speaker 6: We do.
Speaker 14: We actually have two out. We have Bad Minds and
Speaker 14: then we also have Falling Under, which actually just came out.
Speaker 12: Okay, I gotta check that out. Yeah it out? Yeah,
Speaker 12: very cool, very cool. So what what is the what's
Speaker 12: kind of the future trajectory as far as new music?
Speaker 12: I know you've got some stuff you're working on, but
Speaker 12: this EP is relatively new, right, so you probably you
Speaker 12: probably aren't in a big hurry to get new stuff out,
Speaker 12: I would assume, but maybe not.
Speaker 9: Well, it's funny, Matt, because as you know, like the
Speaker 9: social media monster and you know, just the scene as
Speaker 9: it is, it's hungry and like if you feed it
Speaker 9: it once more and yeah, so we actually yeah, and
Speaker 9: so we've got like four or five.
Speaker 16: New originals and uh, I don't have an exact plan yet,
Speaker 16: but there definitely will will be more music in the
Speaker 16: next couple of months, probably like a single, A side
Speaker 16: B side thing and then maybe another EP before the
Speaker 16: end of the year.
Speaker 9: We write music really fast. It's just a matter of
Speaker 9: you know, getting into the studio. And we even work
Speaker 9: pretty quickly in the studio because uh, we go in
Speaker 9: there with a click track already with the scratch parts down.
Speaker 9: I use the same software as Alex, so we're able
Speaker 9: to Yeah, we're able to move. We're able to move
Speaker 9: pretty quickly. It's just a matter of actually balancing that
Speaker 9: with supporting it live. But yeah, it's definitely like, gosh,
Speaker 9: that thing's only been out since December, but like everybody
Speaker 9: digs all four songs and it's like we've got to
Speaker 9: get we've got to feed the monster.
Speaker 12: Yeah, yeah, exactly, Yeah, that is a big challenge in
Speaker 12: the social media environment that we're in. You're right, and
Speaker 12: it's it's it's hard to keep up with it all too,
Speaker 12: you know, with so many different social media services and
Speaker 12: and so many different ways now that you can connect
Speaker 12: with fans, which is great in the sense that there
Speaker 12: are many ways that you can connect with fans, but
Speaker 12: also it can be a little overwhelming at times and
Speaker 12: trying to figure out how to navigate well, how do
Speaker 12: we how do we keep people interested? How do we
Speaker 12: keep people engaged? You know, engagement is a word that
Speaker 12: you hear a lot when we're talking about social media
Speaker 12: and marketing anything really, but but especially music, and how
Speaker 12: do you balance that with you also don't want to
Speaker 12: oversaturate and you want to make sure that whatever you're
Speaker 12: putting out isn't rushed, that it's of quality. So it's
Speaker 12: a lot too, it's a lot to kind of navigate through.
Speaker 12: But uh, you know, but but so far, it seems
Speaker 12: like you're doing great. You've definitely got some some momentum
Speaker 12: behind you. And I'm really excited to see what awaiting
Speaker 12: a gap. Uh, I can't say it all of a sudden,
Speaker 12: awaiting Abigail I'm excited to see, uh, to see what
Speaker 12: you have in the future and and you've got and
Speaker 12: I'm really excited too to hear what this big announcement
Speaker 12: is that you can't tell us yet, but can you
Speaker 12: give us a hint, any any hints you can offer.
Speaker 9: I could say, just it's gonna be Florida, it's gonna
Speaker 9: be September, and it's going to be a national act. Okay, yeah, yeah,
Speaker 9: little four day mini tour with them, and it'll definitely
Speaker 9: be somebody. It's somebody that people will definitely know, and
Speaker 9: it'll it's a great matchup for.
Speaker 12: Us, not a not a not a national act you
Speaker 12: might have mentioned earlier in the conversation by any chance, No,
Speaker 12: okay yet, Okay, okay, it's it's coming though, I'm sure
Speaker 12: it's coming.
Speaker 9: It's it's our goal.
Speaker 12: Yeah, yeah, yeah, very good. Well listen, it's wonderful to
Speaker 12: speak to you both this morning. James, of course we
Speaker 12: had talked before, and Abigail, it's nice to meet you.
Speaker 12: And uh, absolutely, we'll definitely do this again in the
Speaker 12: future as you have more music coming out or and
Speaker 12: and if you want to come back on to when
Speaker 12: you can make make that announcement formally, Uh, you know,
Speaker 12: we we Jenny and I are both big fans and
Speaker 12: we want to support what you're doing. And I did
Speaker 12: get a lot of positive feedback too from from before
Speaker 12: when I played those songs on the show and I
Speaker 12: was thinking about ending the segment with I'm gonna let
Speaker 12: I told you what my personal favorite is, but I
Speaker 12: want to let the two of you choose, because I
Speaker 12: don't know if there's something you're pushing more than more
Speaker 12: than something else from the EP bad mind. But what
Speaker 12: would your what would your preference be, James and Abigail,
Speaker 12: what would your preference be that I that I closed
Speaker 12: the segment with.
Speaker 9: I'll let the little lady pick.
Speaker 12: Okay, I guess I.
Speaker 13: Hate you such your favorite?
Speaker 12: I would yeah, perfect, perfect, Yeah, I I hate you
Speaker 12: as my favorite. That is so catchy, Like I said,
Speaker 12: I you know, after I played it on the show,
Speaker 12: I played it a bunch of times after we got
Speaker 12: off the air that day. I was just like, this
Speaker 12: is just such a great track, so so wonderful. All right,
Speaker 12: well listen, we'll uh, we'll wrap up with that. We'll
Speaker 12: let you go and then I'm gonna hit that track.
Speaker 12: But Abigail and James so nice to talk with. Thank
Speaker 12: you both this morning on Matt connorton Unleashed. I wish
Speaker 12: you continued success and I'm sure we'll talk again soon.
Speaker 9: Thank you.
Speaker 12: Okay, thank you, Okay, you got it. Thank you. Take care,
Speaker 12: bye bye bye.
Speaker 9: All right.
Speaker 12: Wonderful. So that is James, of course had been on
Speaker 12: the show. We talked with him a few weeks ago,
Speaker 12: and I was wonderful to get to speak with Abigail
Speaker 12: as well, the lead singer of Awaiting Abigail, and we're
Speaker 12: gonna play this track again. This is this is so
Speaker 12: so good. This is called I Hate You. This is
Speaker 12: from the EP called Bad Mind. And we might actually
Speaker 12: we might actually sneak another one into We might play
Speaker 12: a couple of these. If you are listening live on
Speaker 12: Saturday morning. Trall is coming up next. I've been notified
Speaker 12: that they have arrived, so we're going to get them
Speaker 12: in the building. I'm really excited to talk to those
Speaker 12: guys as well. And of course in the third hour,
Speaker 12: we have Mike Frazier joining us, so we've got a
Speaker 12: lot of show left to go. But check this out.
Speaker 12: This is catchy as hell. This is called I Hate You,
Speaker 12: and the band is awaiting Abigail, Oh.
Speaker 17: Good fear cheez, what's weird? I hate her so much?
Speaker 17: I'm not doing this today.
Speaker 1: Let's go a long way quick, let's go.
Speaker 15: Whatever you show up, you always happen by your fingers

Speaker 12: Oh that is so good. That is Braggadocio and the
Speaker 12: band is Trall and we've got Troll here with us
Speaker 12: live in studio. This is Matt Connorton Unleashed and we
Speaker 12: are live from the studios of w MNH ninety five
Speaker 12: point three FM and glorious, very rainy and wet, Manchester,
Speaker 12: New Hampshire, if you are listening live on Saturday May ten,
Speaker 12: twenty twenty five, and so happy to have you with us.
Speaker 12: That is a world radio premiere of that track, by
Speaker 12: the way, that has not been heard on the radio
Speaker 12: prior to today. So we do love the world radio premieres.
Speaker 12: And we've got the members of Trall all four guys
Speaker 12: are here with us live in studio. Welcome, gentlemen. Hello,
Speaker 12: let's do this. Let's start with you, sir. We'll go
Speaker 12: around the room and tell us who you are and
Speaker 12: what you do in the band.
Speaker 5: I am Sean. I am the singer of Well. I
Speaker 5: make mouth noises. Let me get that right, I make
Speaker 5: mouth noises for troll all right, welcome shot.
Speaker 12: I'm Adam. I hit things, Adam, you hit.
Speaker 28: Things, okay. I played guitar, justin you play guitar. Very good, seth.
Speaker 28: I play the big guitar or also known as the bass.
Speaker 12: The bass. Yes, yes, well, welcome, by the way, I
Speaker 12: did enjoy we were talking off here. I really like
Speaker 12: that that bass solo there and braggadocio. That's really good.
Speaker 28: Thank you so much.
Speaker 12: That was fun to do that every band has to
Speaker 12: have a bass solo song. Well actually a lot of
Speaker 12: bands would disagree with that, but I'm all for.
Speaker 28: It anytime I can sneak one in there, I'm always psych.
Speaker 12: Absolutely absolutely man. And by the way, so I appreciate
Speaker 12: you guys traveling too. You know, we have a lot
Speaker 12: of artists on the show from various parts. We just
Speaker 12: talked to awaiting Abigail from Texas, of course, and they
Speaker 12: skyped in or what we're using in place of Skype
Speaker 12: now because Skype is apparently away. But usually you know,
Speaker 12: when people are joining us live in studio, they're usually
Speaker 12: you know, maybe within within an hour max. But you
Speaker 12: guys drove all the way down from Portland on a
Speaker 12: rainy Saturday morning. So I really appreciate that you're here.
Speaker 28: Yeah, absolutely pleasure.
Speaker 12: And of course our friend Nathan Hill, he's in the
Speaker 12: chat room. He was, he drove a long way too
Speaker 12: to get here. He was on the show recently, and
Speaker 12: uh so I think he's the one who actually connected
Speaker 12: us with you guys, who connected Jenny. Yes, but we've
Speaker 12: been aware of you for a long time. I certainly
Speaker 12: have in fact, j Bellow from Chasing the Devil he
Speaker 12: had said something about you guys in the chat room
Speaker 12: I think a couple weeks ago, and he might be listening,
Speaker 12: HJ And yeah, he said, because I think they did
Speaker 12: they play a show with you. Yeah, we resent with them.
Speaker 28: That was the last summer show.
Speaker 12: Yeah, no, Chasing the Devil's last July. Yeah, oh very cool. Great,
Speaker 12: dudes love Chasing the Devil.
Speaker 5: Would love to get, you know, hooked up with them
Speaker 5: again because they put on a hell of a show.
Speaker 12: So oh absolutely absolutely, Yeah, They're incredible. And I've known
Speaker 12: Jay forever, uh since back in his purge d I days. Yeah,
Speaker 12: long time, long time. But yeah, so I've been and uh,
Speaker 12: forgive me, my allergies have been out of control. And
Speaker 12: then I hope the rain washes away to the pollend,
Speaker 12: but it doesn't seem to work that way. So if
Speaker 12: I a couple of times, that's why I'm sorry. I'm
Speaker 12: not sick. I'm just uh, it's a it's a rough spring.
Speaker 12: But uh but yeah, so I've been aware of you
Speaker 12: guys for a while. I've seen you live. I can't
Speaker 12: remember where it was. It might have been a few
Speaker 12: years ago.
Speaker 28: Oh yeah, if you played a few years ago, we
Speaker 28: played We've played a couple of places in Manchester. We've
Speaker 28: played at Jewel right up the street, that's where it was, Okay, yeah,
Speaker 28: I remember.
Speaker 5: Jewel, And then last time we were down here we
Speaker 5: played at the Goat. We played with the Blackstone Cherry.
Speaker 5: It was a little mini run we did for we
Speaker 5: had our CD release, and then we played two shows
Speaker 5: back to back with Blackstone Cherry once in the Goat
Speaker 5: down here, and then we went to Wally's in.
Speaker 12: Hampton Beach to you know, oh, very cool, finish that out.
Speaker 12: So yeah, yeah, yeah, I remember seeing you guys a Jewel.
Speaker 12: That's that's the show I was at, and yeah, we
Speaker 12: were just very impressed. But you've been around for a while,
Speaker 12: like right, Parl's been around for at least five or
Speaker 12: six years.
Speaker 28: Right, Yeah, we started in about I think June of
Speaker 28: twenty eighteen, so it's been next month will be seven
Speaker 28: years for trial, So.
Speaker 12: Okay, yeah, same lineup or has that changed over the years.
Speaker 28: It just changed a little. Sean and I have been
Speaker 28: in the entire time, and we've known Adam and Justin
Speaker 28: for for a very long time and they've been friends
Speaker 28: and fellow musicians, and Adam and I were in a
Speaker 28: band together for a long time. But Justin on guitar
Speaker 28: came in almost five years ago, and then and then
Speaker 28: Adam came in three years ago. So we've been the
Speaker 28: same lineup for three years and I really feel like we've,
Speaker 28: in my opinion, kind of hit our stride with the
Speaker 28: line I feel like this is the lineup. Yeah.
Speaker 12: Yeah. In terms of your live shows, does any of
Speaker 12: the early material survives that carried forth?
Speaker 9: Oh? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 5: We play a lot of you know, everything that we've written.
Speaker 5: We pretty much play okay, kind of in a rotation
Speaker 5: depending on you know, where we are, who we're playing with.
Speaker 5: We try to cater to the set, you know, who's there.
Speaker 5: You know, if it's heavier, we might tend to push
Speaker 5: ourselves a little bit in the heavier direction. But we
Speaker 5: play pretty much everything. I think there's two songs that
Speaker 5: we just kind of retired based on we wrote them
Speaker 5: and we like them, and then it's like, yeah, kind
Speaker 5: of outgrew it. It's just not it doesn't hit the
Speaker 5: way it hit when we wrote it.
Speaker 12: Yeah. I'm always curious because I've been in bands where
Speaker 12: sometimes if there's a change in members, you know, there's
Speaker 12: sometimes there might be somebody in the band who's like, ah,
Speaker 12: that's from before, we shouldn't do that, which which I
Speaker 12: would always fight against because I was always like I
Speaker 12: was in a band called My Life Crisis, which went
Speaker 12: through a lot of different permutations through through the years,
Speaker 12: and I was always like, well, I know these songs
Speaker 12: are from a from an old lineup, but still, you
Speaker 12: know these are songs that we made. I mean, we
Speaker 12: made this music. It's our music.
Speaker 18: A good song is a good song exactly worth it
Speaker 18: didn't play it exactly, and it's heartbreaking to have to
Speaker 18: retire something just because you know, like if you've got
Speaker 18: one guy in the band who's like, a, I don't
Speaker 18: want to play that anymore because you know that's tied
Speaker 18: to a previous lineup, and it's like, oh come on man.
Speaker 12: I've done that a few times.
Speaker 18: And it's like if the guy who left actually wrote
Speaker 18: the song like that was his baby, yeah kind of
Speaker 18: understand it.
Speaker 12: Yeah, I yeah, I can kind of understand. Although that
Speaker 12: ended up in the band I was talking about that
Speaker 12: I was in that that did become a big point
Speaker 12: of contention. It all worked out in the end, but yeah.
Speaker 28: Yeah, and we kind of like let the the people
Speaker 28: tell us what they want to hear too, because a
Speaker 28: lot of times we'll reach out and say, hey, what
Speaker 28: do you want to what do you want to see
Speaker 28: this weekend? And and some of our older songs people
Speaker 28: want want to see live. So we're you know, we
Speaker 28: actually close with car chard on and it's like it
Speaker 28: was one of the first songs we ever wrote, and
Speaker 28: it's literally been our closer for.
Speaker 12: Like our entirety of the band.
Speaker 5: Yeah really, yeah, yeah, it was the first song we
Speaker 5: recorded and put out, and honestly, like when we got
Speaker 5: it going, it was just a hey, we got to
Speaker 5: have something to show what we're doing, like we are
Speaker 5: playing shows. But car Chardon was the first one we recorded,
Speaker 5: and Seth sold like a bunch of comic books to
Speaker 5: help pay for it and stuff like that. Yeah, Like
Speaker 5: it was funny because the conversation we had the songs
Speaker 5: about a shark from the point of view of a shark. Yeah,
Speaker 5: and Seth sould the Batman comic book that had a
Speaker 5: shark on the cover, and we were about it was.
Speaker 28: Like Batman two fifty one there it is, Batman fights
Speaker 28: a Shark. It's the one with Joker on the cover
Speaker 28: with the with the actual playing card really and it's
Speaker 28: an iconic cover and I ended up parting ways with
Speaker 28: it to get the money to to go record that song. Yeah,
Speaker 28: but I don't regret it. I don't regret it, and
Speaker 28: I'll buy it back some days.
Speaker 12: Yeah, yeah, exactly. You can always get it back later.
Speaker 5: First there we recorded, and it's been our closer ever since,
Speaker 5: just because we feel like it's just a fun song. Yeah,
Speaker 5: it always is a good time and people when we
Speaker 5: first played it. I remember the faces. People were like, Okay,
Speaker 5: they were getting into all the stuff we'd done and
Speaker 5: this song came on and they weren't anticipating what would
Speaker 5: happen towards the end of it, and they were like,
Speaker 5: what just occurred was not in my purview of what
Speaker 5: was going on this entire set. And so it's it's
Speaker 5: been one of those fun surprises. If you've never seen
Speaker 5: us and you come see this and you hear that song,
Speaker 5: you're like, what was that?
Speaker 12: Yeah, yeah, that's pretty cool. Is it being a band
Speaker 12: from Portland?
Speaker 9: Is it? Uh?
Speaker 27: Is it?
Speaker 12: This might be a strange question. I don't know. Is
Speaker 12: it hard to stand out there when you're first starting
Speaker 12: to build a following because people say this about Boston, like,
Speaker 12: if you're a Boston band, there's so many Boston bands,
Speaker 12: it's hard to stand out, and like up here it's
Speaker 12: a little easier. But but Portland, for as long as
Speaker 12: I can remember, has always had a pretty incredible music
Speaker 12: scene too. It seems like there's a lot of really
Speaker 12: good bands in Portland. I mean, is that is it competitive?
Speaker 12: Like what's the I haven't I used to do a
Speaker 12: lot in Portland. I used to promote shows and stuff
Speaker 12: when I was more into that part of the business.
Speaker 12: But but but I've been kind of disengaged from Portland
Speaker 12: as a city for a long time, so I don't
Speaker 12: really know, like what the vibe is there now.
Speaker 28: Yeah, i'd say it is. It is tough to stand out.
Speaker 28: I think it's just about kind of finding your other peers,
Speaker 28: your other bands that like you fit well with, yeah,
Speaker 28: and kind of trying to create critical mass with like
Speaker 28: two or three bands that like everyone will come out
Speaker 28: and see and the and the audience makes sense, which
Speaker 28: has been a rotating cast over the years because a
Speaker 28: lot of bands, you know, fall off and break up
Speaker 28: and new bands are always popping up, so we're always
Speaker 28: trying to find new bands to play with that that
Speaker 28: are exciting to us, that we like their sound. But
Speaker 28: Portland in general is is tough because you've got a
Speaker 28: lot of tourism and you kind of got this whole
Speaker 28: upper end rising up with all the you know, luxury
Speaker 28: condos and whatnot, and so you've got you've got kind
Speaker 28: of two Portland's. You know, you got the the sort
Speaker 28: of the tourists and and sort of higher priced end,
Speaker 28: and then you've got your your bars and clubs and
Speaker 28: you know, sort of the local scene end. And and
Speaker 28: there's a lot of clubs that don't cater to rock
Speaker 28: and metal, and there's a there's a few that do,
Speaker 28: and those are always a moving target. And uh, it's
Speaker 28: it's been tough through the pandemic, like
