Matt Connarton Unleashed 5-17-25 hour 2
Game Plan
Speaker 1: Let's escape the weather may run away for the winter,
Speaker 1: prolong the suffering, and delay the existential crisis, falling into
Speaker 1: paravel from that old story itself?
Speaker 2: What will remain of us when there's nothing but.
Speaker 3: Fisk?
Speaker 2: Why when it rains too?
Speaker 4: There's nothing laughing you to feel? When fell so much before?
Speaker 3: Left?
Speaker 2: Why there's great when.
Speaker 5: To follow?
Speaker 4: There's nothing leaf for you to feel?
Speaker 6: When it's sins running away?
Speaker 3: Enough?
Speaker 5: Where do we finally say?
Speaker 4: Shelter comedy and answer say you won't.
Speaker 2: Save us this time? The one side and the chats.
Speaker 5: Is that we still that.
Speaker 4: Three peoples don't say no, it's to you this is true, besca.
Speaker 5: Just get all say oh right.
Speaker 4: We race tomorrow. That's not their laugh for you to
Speaker 4: feel where you.
Speaker 2: Fail, some fust fall? Why's last? Why best price were
Speaker 2: to borrow? That's not their laugh for you to feed up?
Speaker 2: Way it's off shot.
Speaker 3: Made wet may yess west?
Speaker 2: Thence west?
Speaker 5: It's good?
Speaker 7: All faye a way when it ends used to buy.
Speaker 3: It's good?
Speaker 2: Say no way when.
Speaker 3: That's not bad?
Speaker 8: That serious?
Speaker 2: Wes that somebody past last? WoT this last week?
Speaker 9: Oh that is so cool and uh and a little
Speaker 9: ominous that is called Tomorrow. That is Ryan Redwood all
Speaker 9: the way from the UK. We did give the American
Speaker 9: radio premiere to that track a number of weeks ago.
Speaker 9: And I love that song, love that song. But we've
Speaker 9: got Ryan on with us via WhatsApp. I believe Hey, Ryan, Matt,
Speaker 9: how you doing mate? Good? How are you welcome to
Speaker 9: the program? I love that song, love that song.
Speaker 8: Thank you very much.
Speaker 10: I appreciate you and showing it some.
Speaker 9: School absolutely one of the things. And I did refer
Speaker 9: to the lyrics a little a little bit ominous. I
Speaker 9: noticed that because I was listening to some of your
Speaker 9: previous your work, and it seems like a little bit
Speaker 9: of a change in a direction for you, uh, in
Speaker 9: terms of lyrics. Maybe I'm maybe I'm wrong. You can
Speaker 9: you can tell me, but I feel like I feel
Speaker 9: like I said, this one has ah, it's got a
Speaker 9: message to it, right, and it's it's it's got a
Speaker 9: little bit of an ominous vibe. Whereas whereas your, uh,
Speaker 9: your other music seems a little more I don't know, happy, yeah,
Speaker 9: a little more a little more happy. Yeah, there you go,
Speaker 9: a little more happy.
Speaker 3: Uh.
Speaker 9: So, so tell us about Tomorrow. I'm really curious, uh,
Speaker 9: I'm curious to know more about this and and kind
Speaker 9: of what inspired you to write this.
Speaker 10: Yeah, man, I mean say, the old stuff a bit
Speaker 10: more about love and relationships and sort of a bit
Speaker 10: more happier and like the music itself is a bit
Speaker 10: more lifting, I think as well. With Tomorrow, I really
Speaker 10: want explore my darker side as well as like in
Speaker 10: more indie stuff that we have here in the UK,
Speaker 10: there is sort of like influences that since I was
Speaker 10: like a teenager, so I don't really want to get
Speaker 10: into that with especially guitars. And then like the subject
Speaker 10: matter with lyrics is sort of about climate change and
Speaker 10: how we are still ignoring it and like why we
Speaker 10: ignoring it when it's inevitable, like the world might end
Speaker 10: at less, like do something about it or.
Speaker 9: Try Yeah exactly, Yeah, there's that there's that light in there.
Speaker 9: What is it that you say they only listen when
Speaker 9: it's too late?
Speaker 11: Yeah, yeah exactly.
Speaker 10: That's literally how how at the moment, especially with everything
Speaker 10: going on. I don't want to get into too much,
Speaker 10: but like politically all over the world, we're in a really.
Speaker 8: Dark spot.
Speaker 4: M M.
Speaker 10: That's what I'm explaining. Yeah, I don't know, but yeah,
Speaker 10: but I feel like is still kind of a little
Speaker 10: bit uplifted with its chorus, like musically, yeah, because there's
Speaker 10: a little bit escapism in there as well. It's not
Speaker 10: all doom and gloom.
Speaker 9: But right, right, right, right right?
Speaker 8: Are you talking?
Speaker 9: Are you talking directly into your phone or are you
Speaker 9: on a computer.
Speaker 10: Or I'm straight to my phone?
Speaker 9: Oh right, okay, it sounds better. Now you're kind of
Speaker 9: we're kind of losing you a little I was getting
Speaker 9: most of what you were saying, but we were kind
Speaker 9: of losing you a little bit. Ah right, Oh that's
Speaker 9: oh that's perfect right there, right there is perfect. Yeah.
Speaker 9: But but but yeah, no, I really like the I
Speaker 9: like the vibe. I like the message. And is that
Speaker 9: the first thing that you've written that's kind of like that?
Speaker 9: It's it's like I said, your your previous material doesn't
Speaker 9: seem to have that that same vibe. But I'm curious
Speaker 9: if you've written other things like that.
Speaker 10: Yeah, so this will be like the first of many
Speaker 10: of that sort of like vibe sort of just yeah,
Speaker 10: like I said, a bit of a darker direction compared
Speaker 10: to previous stuff. Yeah, I feel like I've sort of
Speaker 10: not completed what I've already done. But I got to
Speaker 10: a point where it was like, not only save for
Speaker 10: me to write that sort of stuff, but probably a
Speaker 10: bit samey for the people who have been listening for
Speaker 10: a while, you know what I mean. So it was
Speaker 10: nicer to like get the guitars out, turn the amps
Speaker 10: up a little bit more, and like go for a
Speaker 10: bit more of an aggressive approach, I guess, But yeah,
Speaker 10: there's definitely more to come, like the next one we're
Speaker 10: already working on at the moment, which is called The
Speaker 10: back Room, which is again that's sort of big guitars,
Speaker 10: a bit more aggressive with the vocal approach, and the
Speaker 10: nice as well.
Speaker 9: So yeah, nice nice. What's the reaction been like to
Speaker 9: to the single from people who've who've been following you
Speaker 9: for a while, Like, do you get a lot of
Speaker 9: comments on it? Like Wow, this is this is different?
Speaker 9: I like this. I don't like this. I mean, what
Speaker 9: what's kind of been the reaction to it?
Speaker 10: It's been It's been pretty good, to be fair, which
Speaker 10: I think is sort of the sign that people are
Speaker 10: sort of into you for you. Yeah that makes sense. Yes,
Speaker 10: So I feel like I'm in a really nice spot
Speaker 10: where the people who have been listening for a while.
Speaker 10: I could sort of go into anything or like I
Speaker 10: could go into like a techno record at some point,
Speaker 10: and I feel like they'd still go, oh, it's still right.
Speaker 10: I still like that, you know. So yeah, yeah, it's
Speaker 10: been really good. We've had so much support from like
Speaker 10: you guys as well, like every like radio station who's
Speaker 10: plaid it have been really into it as well. It's
Speaker 10: probably been the single that's gone down the best out
Speaker 10: of all of them, which is weird because in my
Speaker 10: head it doesn't seem that radio friendly and stuff really,
Speaker 10: but yeah, some reasons people really getting into it, mate.
Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, No, I think it's uh. I think it's catchy.
Speaker 9: I think it's uh. I think it's got a good hook.
Speaker 9: I think no, I think you've got a hit. I
Speaker 9: just think it's really good. But again too, I also
Speaker 9: identify with the message, and some of what you're saying
Speaker 9: in the lyrics are the same kind of thoughts that
Speaker 9: I I have. Especially, like I said, I really latch
Speaker 9: onto that line about you know they'll only listen when
Speaker 9: it's too late, which is uh, you know, And that's
Speaker 9: the thing too, I mean, if you're gonna if you're
Speaker 9: gonna continue to go in that direction, You'll certainly never
Speaker 9: have a shortage of material to draw from. Uh, in
Speaker 9: the world that we live in, right, You're always gonna
Speaker 9: have You're always gonna have stuff to uh to write about.
Speaker 12: Uh.
Speaker 9: Certainly, where where do you record? I mean, because everything,
Speaker 9: everything that you've done it, I'm it sounds really good.
Speaker 9: I mean, do you have a do you have a
Speaker 9: producer that you work with consistently? Do you do it
Speaker 9: all yourself or what's the process?
Speaker 12: Like?
Speaker 10: So yeah, like the older stuff done with a guy
Speaker 10: called Sam Wilson, who is one of my childhood best mates,
Speaker 10: but this one of the most recent one, Tomorrow is
Speaker 10: done with another one of my childhood best mates. I'm
Speaker 10: very fortunate to have a lot of like talented people
Speaker 10: around me. We're really good at what they do. So yeah,
Speaker 10: tomorrow was done with as A Lambert, who was also
Speaker 10: in a band called a JHJ who was sort of
Speaker 10: a little bit heavier as well. So it sort of
Speaker 10: made sense to do this with him used to that
Speaker 10: sort of vibe because we share a lot of common
Speaker 10: interests anyway, but I normally sort of start to start
Speaker 10: the tune off recording wise in my back room, which
Speaker 10: is why the next song called so I start off,
Speaker 10: I'll get like a rough demo down and then we'll
Speaker 10: take it to whoever I'm working, whether it be Sam
Speaker 10: or we'll sort of just bash it out together and
Speaker 10: maybe change some parts and then and then take it
Speaker 10: to the studio.
Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, excellent, excellent. Do you plan to do you
Speaker 9: plan to release an album with with these songs that
Speaker 9: you're working on now? This this question comes up a
Speaker 9: lot on the show because of so many different ways
Speaker 9: to release music now, in different strategies to use. Uh,
Speaker 9: do you plan to just do singles for an hour?
Speaker 9: Are you gonna put these into an album eventually? Or
Speaker 9: maybe you haven't thought that far. I don't know, but.
Speaker 10: Well, I would love to do an album. I just
Speaker 10: like you say. I think there's so many different ways
Speaker 10: in which people are can assuming music nowadays. I feel
Speaker 10: like singles are the best way to sort of stay relevant,
Speaker 10: if that makes sense, because you can bring a year
Speaker 10: yeah more these days throughout either right, I feel like
Speaker 10: to do an album. I'd like to get to a
Speaker 10: point where I could just not disappear but not do
Speaker 10: as much for six seven months and really focus on
Speaker 10: getting the album right and then out and sort of
Speaker 10: have the hype around it. But an album is something
Speaker 10: I talk about with friends like regularly, like something that
Speaker 10: comes up like nearly on a weekly basis. They asked
Speaker 10: me the same thing, like I'm just doing an album, mate,
Speaker 10: and it's like, it's not just it's not just doing
Speaker 10: an album, guys, it's like everything else that has to
Speaker 10: go into it.
Speaker 9: You know, right, right, Yeah, nothing is as simple as
Speaker 9: it looks to someone who doesn't know who you know,
Speaker 9: who's never done this, right, It's not that it's not
Speaker 9: that simple. Are you do you play out a lot?
Speaker 9: Are you able to uh to gig out a lot
Speaker 9: and tour in your area?
Speaker 11: Yeah?
Speaker 10: Man, we're always busy with the gigs come in like
Speaker 10: thick and fast, especially this year. Good seems to have
Speaker 10: had a bit of like a quiet start for the year.
Speaker 10: But as the year's sort of gone on and the
Speaker 10: weather has been getting better, I think there's been yet
Speaker 10: more and more opt to get out there and play live.
Speaker 9: So now, now when you go out to play you
Speaker 9: are you bringing a full band or do you do
Speaker 9: do you do solo dates? Or why? What's a live
Speaker 9: situation like for you?
Speaker 10: So we saw the mix of things. Really, it's been
Speaker 10: predominantly on my own, like just me and the acoustic
Speaker 10: guitar for a little while. But we've done a few
Speaker 10: like full band dates and at the moment as of
Speaker 10: the producer is actually doing the gigs with me, so
Speaker 10: it's got like a duo vibe to it.
Speaker 9: Yeah.
Speaker 10: Well, I always say I am playing on my own.
Speaker 10: It's not like just the guy in the corner of
Speaker 10: the acoustic guitar. I'm kind of really loud to be
Speaker 10: and I will try to include as many people as
Speaker 10: possible into that vibe, do you know.
Speaker 9: What I mean?
Speaker 10: Yeah, Yeah, if anyone's listening, I have a play America
Speaker 10: at some point, don't worry. So I'm not just that
Speaker 10: quiet man in the corner.
Speaker 3: Yeah.
Speaker 9: I hope you. I hope you come here to play.
Speaker 9: We gotta we gotta get over here. Absolutely, very very cool,
Speaker 9: very cool. Do you when you have you done any
Speaker 9: festivals or or do you plan to do any like that?
Speaker 13: Or Yeah?
Speaker 10: Quite a few festivals over the sort of time. We've
Speaker 10: got a really cool one that's local to where I live,
Speaker 10: which is like kind of on a beach, okay, which
Speaker 10: First Light Festival, and I've done that a few years running.
Speaker 10: I'm not doing it this year unfortunately, but I have
Speaker 10: done in the past and there's been Like the thing
Speaker 10: is with the UK. I don't know what it's like
Speaker 10: in the US, but we have so many independent festivals
Speaker 10: all over the place. So if you if you don't
Speaker 10: see me on like a rednand Leeds or a Glastonbury lineup,
Speaker 10: I'm probably playing like not so blaston Brick or something
Speaker 10: like that, you know, I.
Speaker 9: Mean, yeah, yeah, okay, okay, very very cool. Now when
Speaker 9: you play out, I assume you play, uh, do you
Speaker 9: do all of you know, twenty something romance which has
Speaker 9: four tracks on it? I assume do you do all
Speaker 9: of those songs as well? Because I really like that.
Speaker 9: I was a listening to that last night. That's really good.
Speaker 10: Oh nice one. Thank you very much. Yeah, that the
Speaker 10: EP is sort of a bit more of an acoustice
Speaker 10: to it, I think, is it? So yeah as well, mate,
Speaker 10: thank you very much for listening.
Speaker 14: Yeah.
Speaker 10: So I play all really all the stuff that's not
Speaker 10: on Spotify and available where to get you. The only
Speaker 10: one I don't pay something Romance is the last track
Speaker 10: if you need me, because it's like a really down stick. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
Speaker 10: the rest of it. Yeah, always in the depth.
Speaker 9: Oh, very cool, very cool. And do you have any
Speaker 9: plans to I mean, what in terms of touring are
Speaker 9: you going to be getting out of the getting out
Speaker 9: of the UK at all. It's funny the in the
Speaker 9: first hour I talked with a band Killing Fly from
Speaker 9: Australia and and you know, they tell me they're going
Speaker 9: to Japan. It's like, oh wow, that's pretty cool. Yeah. Yeah,
Speaker 9: do you have any plans to, uh, to get out
Speaker 9: of there? Obviously, I know you want to come to
Speaker 9: America at some point, but uh, you got anything on
Speaker 9: the horizon immediately.
Speaker 10: I've been to be fair to get to Europe a
Speaker 10: bit more because like places like Germany and France and
Speaker 10: places like that really have a cool scene at the moment. Yeah,
Speaker 10: seem to be supporting like independent up becoming artists. Yeah,
Speaker 10: So trying to get into in the door over in
Speaker 10: Europe it's a bit difficult with like recent things that
Speaker 10: have happened. I don't want to bring it up too much.
Speaker 10: Oh yeah, yeah, and I'd like to go over to
Speaker 10: the Island and stuff as well. Yeah, it's all pipeline.
Speaker 10: It's just sort of trying to get the opportunities really,
Speaker 10: because I don't think i'd want to go over there
Speaker 10: and immediately like sort of headline. I'd like to sort
Speaker 10: of support a band and learn from them and how
Speaker 10: they do it before I do it on my own. Sure,
Speaker 10: but yeah, definitely. I was listening to that Australian band
Speaker 10: actually that you've had on before, and the guitar work
Speaker 10: in that tune reminded me of the guy who did
Speaker 10: The White Cliffs of Dover. I think Eric Johnson. Oh okay,
Speaker 10: I want to bring that up.
Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, Oh they're so good, aren't they? Killing Fly?
Speaker 9: What a great band. But by and by the way,
Speaker 9: Rob messaged me he wanted me to make sure I
Speaker 9: tell people it's Killing Fly f l a W. Not
Speaker 9: not Killing Floor, because I guess they run into that
Speaker 9: sometimes where people miss people misunderstand the name. But yeah, yeah, no,
Speaker 9: they are. They are so good.
Speaker 8: You know.
Speaker 9: I did talk to them about influences, and I'm curious
Speaker 9: about your influencers, like, like, who, uh you know, who
Speaker 9: who is really influenced you. I have I have to ask,
Speaker 9: just as an American, I just have to ask this
Speaker 9: Oasis Is Oasis a big influence on you big time, Okay.
Speaker 10: Big time. I'm actually fortunate enough to get a ticket
Speaker 10: to see them on the tour in Manchester in the UK.
Speaker 9: Nice.
Speaker 10: Yeah, honestly that's going to be like its be one
Speaker 10: of those things that's life performing for me. They've they've
Speaker 10: been a band of listening to since I was a kid,
Speaker 10: so yeah, then then together is like come true. Yeah,
Speaker 10: Oasis is one the early days I was really into
Speaker 10: like through Fighters in Green Bay, so more of like
Speaker 10: the American scene and had a big impact on me
Speaker 10: when I was a teenager. But as I've thought growing
Speaker 10: up and discovered the U case a bit more, I
Speaker 10: don't know why I was into like the West rock
Speaker 10: figure more readily available growing up, which is weird in
Speaker 10: the UK, I guess.
Speaker 3: Yeah.
Speaker 10: Yeah, we've got all the bands like Optic Monkeys they're
Speaker 10: massive obviously, and a band called Catfish at the Bottom Man,
Speaker 10: I don't know if you've heard of that.
Speaker 9: I don't know them.
Speaker 10: No, they're really good. I think they've toured America quite
Speaker 10: a lot actually, but they're not quite yet. Yeah yeah,
Speaker 10: but yeah they're a band to look out for if
Speaker 10: if they get their stuff back together and get back
Speaker 10: out on the road.
Speaker 9: Oh, very cool, Very cool. Do you have any shows
Speaker 9: this weekend? You played anywhere this weekend?
Speaker 10: No, I've got a Actually I'm literally sat at home
Speaker 10: at the moment, just watching a bit of golf on
Speaker 10: the Telly Mate.
Speaker 9: Oh wow, okay, good time. That's cool. That's cool. Well,
Speaker 9: we're gonna let you go in a moment, Ryan, and
Speaker 9: we're going to play I think to end the segment well,
Speaker 9: because we talked about it so much and I want
Speaker 9: to hear it again. We're going to play for anyone
Speaker 9: who miss it tomorrow. Such a great single. Love this track.
Speaker 9: Like I said, I love the message and and it's
Speaker 9: you know, it's a kind of message I wish I
Speaker 9: wish more people were paying attention to. But good on you,
Speaker 9: uh for for getting that out there. But what should
Speaker 9: people know Ryan for? For people who want to follow
Speaker 9: you online and keep up with everything that you're doing,
Speaker 9: especially as you're releasing new music, where's the best place
Speaker 9: for people to go?
Speaker 14: Instagram?
Speaker 10: It's probably where I'm most active, and I'm trying to
Speaker 10: be more active on TikTok as well. Everywhere at Ryan
Speaker 10: is like e free social media handles. It's really easy
Speaker 10: whatever platform I'm on the I'm on the is the
Speaker 10: best place, and yeah, look out spotfight for new music
Speaker 10: coming soon, probably in June.
Speaker 9: Next single, so oh cool. Okay, if you.
Speaker 10: Ever in the UK, hit me up. You've got a
Speaker 10: guest list spott very nice.
Speaker 9: Appreciate that. And the when the new single comes out,
Speaker 9: you know, we would love to be the first American
Speaker 9: radio station to give it a spin, So putting you
Speaker 9: on the spot there, but no, we'll make it happen definitely.
Speaker 9: So we're gonna all right, so in a moment, we're
Speaker 9: gonna hit that track one more time. Tomorrow is such
Speaker 9: a great song. But Ryan Redwood, thank you so much
Speaker 9: for joining us and look forward to look forward to
Speaker 9: doing this again in the future, and we'll continue to
Speaker 9: follow everything that you're doing and support the music and
Speaker 9: great stuff.
Speaker 10: So thanks Ryan, nice one, thank you very much.
Speaker 9: Absolutely all right, take care you too, thank you, Bye bye.
Speaker 9: All right, the great Ryan Redwood and let's give this
Speaker 9: another spin. This is called Tomorrow. And by the way,
Speaker 9: if you are listening live on Saturday coming up in
Speaker 9: just a few minutes, we're gonna be joined by the
Speaker 9: band Major moment. We're gonna get them on the WhatsApp
Speaker 9: and they've got a big show coming up and they've
Speaker 9: got a lot going on. They were a kind of
Speaker 9: a last minute edition to today's show, but they're doing
Speaker 9: some really big stuff. So looking forward to talking to
Speaker 9: them and I love their sound. But check it out
Speaker 9: once again. This is tomorrow. This is the newest single
Speaker 9: from Ryan Redwood.

Speaker 3: know you not that.
Speaker 9: The track is called Toxic. The band is a major Moment.
Speaker 9: They are from Boston. Love them, love their sound. And
Speaker 9: let's see who we have on the line with us
Speaker 9: via WhatsApp from a major moment. Hello, good morning, haod morning.
Speaker 8: How are you guys doing good?
Speaker 4: Good?
Speaker 9: So who do we have on the line with us?
Speaker 20: My name is Andre, and I'm Sasha.
Speaker 9: Hello, Andre and Sasha, welcome. Are you the two singers
Speaker 9: in the band? The two lead singers? That's right, very good,
Speaker 9: very good. Well, I'm glad we were able to do
Speaker 9: this because I know, you know, you were kind of
Speaker 9: a last minute edition to today's show. But Jenny messaged me.
Speaker 9: I was on the air last night doing a show
Speaker 9: that we do here on Friday nights, and Jenny messaged
Speaker 9: me and said, you're really going to like this band,
Speaker 9: and she was right. Love your sound. Jenny and I
Speaker 9: both love your sound. So it's good to have you
Speaker 9: on the show and.
Speaker 20: Thank you so much.
Speaker 18: Yeah.
Speaker 9: Yeah, I'm curious so with with a sound like yours.
Speaker 9: You know this isn't you know, this isn't simple three
Speaker 9: chord rock. What you're doing is pretty sophisticated. How is
Speaker 9: it to replicate that live? What you do in the studio?
Speaker 9: And I know you've got you've got a couple of
Speaker 9: big shows coming up that we're going to talk about too,
Speaker 9: But I'm curious. You know, I'm a studio nerd, but
Speaker 9: I'm also I played in a lot of bands, so
Speaker 9: I'm also really curious too about you know, when you're
Speaker 9: in the studio. Are you able to are you able
Speaker 9: to replicate live what you do in the studio exactly
Speaker 9: or do you even worry about it? But some bands,
Speaker 9: you know, they play live and it's more of a
Speaker 9: stripped down thing. But I'm curious how you approach that
Speaker 9: because what you do is is pretty sophisticated. Uh oh,
Speaker 9: I don't hear voice. Well, oh there you are. I
Speaker 9: heard a weird beep.
Speaker 20: Yeah, that was weird. Sorry, I'm not sure what it was.
Speaker 20: That's what I was saying.
Speaker 13: It's arguably a little too sophisticated, you know, to a
Speaker 13: pull of fly. But we do our best, and you know,
Speaker 13: we have life since we have sampler that we play live,
Speaker 13: so we try to play live as much as many
Speaker 13: instruments and as many sounds as we possibly can. We
Speaker 13: have a drum pad, actually two drum pads. Oh, one
Speaker 13: is played by the drummer, another one I play occasionally
Speaker 13: to launch some samples.
Speaker 14: Oh interesting, and then we switch off with the sincestation
Speaker 14: me and Andre.
Speaker 20: So yeah, we call it.
Speaker 13: We call it the since station. So it's a media
Speaker 13: keyboard that is connected to main stage. Main stage being
Speaker 13: the soft software problem. Oh, very different type of sins.
Speaker 9: Yeah, very interesting. Okay, so you have a unique setup too,
Speaker 9: very different than.
Speaker 13: What Yeah, like everybody, everybody's always given us the look
Speaker 13: when when we're trying to like bring bring all of
Speaker 13: this stuff up on stage and they're like, I've never
Speaker 13: seen anything like this before.
Speaker 9: That's what that was literally going to be my next question.
Speaker 9: I was curious, like, do you have funny looks from
Speaker 9: other bands at shows or from or from the sound,
Speaker 9: Like what's it like to interact with the sound at
Speaker 9: a show?
Speaker 13: Well, confured, But most of the sound guys that we
Speaker 13: came across, most of the front of house engineers, they're
Speaker 13: super friendly. Yeah, and they're super helpful and they try
Speaker 13: to accommodate whatever little nuances that we have going on,
Speaker 13: because like we have you know, not to get too
Speaker 13: deep into the details of the setup, but we have
Speaker 13: like medi that needs to be connected, you know, and
Speaker 13: we're working on the Whole Life light show, and we
Speaker 13: have a video show that is synced to our set.
Speaker 13: So it's it's a fairly large scale production for a smaller,
Speaker 13: independent band like ourselves.
Speaker 9: Oh that's really cool. No, I admire that and that
Speaker 9: How long how long did it take to get to
Speaker 9: a point where, well, let me ask you this, how
Speaker 9: long has the band been around? And then because I
Speaker 9: assume it's it's kind of changed and evolved over time.
Speaker 9: But you've been at this a while, right, because you're
Speaker 9: pretty well established in the scene.
Speaker 20: Yeah, so we're definitely.
Speaker 13: You know, we're like a work in progress constantly, you know.
Speaker 13: And we started seven years ago. Back then when we
Speaker 13: first played a few of our live shows, we didn't
Speaker 13: have a single song recorded in the studio, and for both.
Speaker 11: Of us, this is the first band, by the way,
Speaker 11: so oh wow, so learning how it works, what the.
Speaker 13: Industry is looking like, you know, and we're so deep
Speaker 13: in that it's safe to say that it's going to
Speaker 13: be our last band.
Speaker 20: We're already way too involved in it, understood, right.
Speaker 13: So we started playing like we didn't have any backing tracks,
Speaker 13: any samples, any keyboards, you know, So we started like
Speaker 13: we just drums, guitars, bass, But then we started adding
Speaker 13: stuff because we went to the studio and realized that,
Speaker 13: you know, in order to produce a live show that
Speaker 13: sounds like people would expect it to sound, right like
Speaker 13: from listening to the record, we need to make it
Speaker 13: you know a little more complex than just you know,
Speaker 13: strip down instruments or like whatever, the guitars and bass
Speaker 13: and like basic kind of a bend setup.
Speaker 9: Sure, sure, does anything anything ever go wrong with that?
Speaker 20: All the time, every single time? Thank you for asking men.
Speaker 14: Yeah, this is a problem solving business in the first place.
Speaker 9: So that's a that's a really good way of putting it, Sasha,
Speaker 9: You're right, this is yeah, yeah, absolutely absolutely, But that's
Speaker 9: that's part of the adventure of it too, right, you know,
Speaker 9: if if.
Speaker 13: You for sure you know, and like for example, right,
Speaker 13: like so we just got added to like a show
Speaker 13: like literally last minute, like and to your show last minute, right, yes,
Speaker 13: And it's a great problem to have, you know what
Speaker 13: I mean. So we're like, we're super happy to be
Speaker 13: here and thank you for having us. And you know,
Speaker 13: things come up last minute all the time, and it's
Speaker 13: it's it's our responsibility in our job to adjust and
Speaker 13: adapt to the you know, ever changing climate and you
Speaker 13: know all of that.
Speaker 9: Yeah, one hundred percent percent. We should mention too, and
Speaker 9: and we'll we'll circle back to it to it at
Speaker 9: the end of our conversation. But you've got a couple
Speaker 9: of big shows coming up. I know that on the twentieth. Uh,
Speaker 9: you're gonna be where are you gonna be at the
Speaker 9: on the twentieth in Boston? It says supporting the Rasmus,
Speaker 9: but I'm not sure.
Speaker 20: Yeah, we're at the the We're at Brighton Music Hall
Speaker 20: in Alton, mass.
Speaker 9: Oh, very cool, Okay, awesome, awesome, And.
Speaker 13: Then if venue is super excited to be there. That's
Speaker 13: gonna be our first time playing bright Music Hall. But
Speaker 13: we've been to a couple of shows there and it
Speaker 13: was always like, you know, it always sounds great, it
Speaker 13: always looks great. They have nice stage, nice lighting, So
Speaker 13: we're definitely looking forward to it. Not to mention we
Speaker 13: get to share the stage with the Rasmus themselves. I
Speaker 13: don't know if you guys are you know, aware of
Speaker 13: how big of a deal it is here in the States.
Speaker 13: But yeah, you know, g enormous, famous, famous band from
Speaker 13: Finland yep, Yeah, that played arenas and you know, major
Speaker 13: festivals like crock Emory in Germany and two like sold
Speaker 13: out crowds of millions of people and and this, and
Speaker 13: we grew up listening to them and going to their
Speaker 13: shows in Russia. Yeah, if they or not where we're
Speaker 13: originally from. So it's such a like a full circle
Speaker 13: moment for us.
Speaker 20: It just you know, was so excited for it.
Speaker 9: Oh that's extremely cool, very very cool. Congratulations and then
Speaker 9: uh and then on the twenty second, you got a
Speaker 9: big show in Hampton Hampton, New Hampshire.
Speaker 20: Yes, twenty second.
Speaker 13: We don't only get to play one show with the Rasmus,
Speaker 13: but we were so lucky that, you know, we get
Speaker 13: added to the second show where they're also supporting the
Speaker 13: Funeral Portrait, which is another up and coming band, but
Speaker 13: they're they're doing you know, phenomenally well. They had number
Speaker 13: one hit on Big Guns on Octane and and and
Speaker 13: you know millions of streams and millions of fans as well, so.
Speaker 11: And great deep people kind of like online buddies with them.
Speaker 13: Yeah, amazing show, amazing stage presence. So like we're looking
Speaker 13: forward to not only being a part of the show
Speaker 13: and sharing the stage with them, but we're also going
Speaker 13: to be in the crowd, like crowking out to their
Speaker 13: live sets, you know, to their show because like we're
Speaker 13: genuine fans of what they do. And also on the
Speaker 13: lineup is going to be Glass Waves, which is another
Speaker 13: up and coming band that we're excited to share the
Speaker 13: stage with.
Speaker 9: I was gonna say Glass Waves are not familiar with
Speaker 9: I'll have to check them out.
Speaker 20: Yeah, totally, they're they're amazing.
Speaker 1: You know.
Speaker 13: If you think of bands like bad Omens or Bring
Speaker 13: the Horizon or sleep Token, if you're if you're you know,
Speaker 13: a fan of those bands, Glass Waves, check those guys out,
Speaker 13: you know, and also check out the other bands as well.
Speaker 9: Oh very cool, Very cool. By the way, I also
Speaker 9: notice you're gonna be heading to Pennsylvania and then Washington,
Speaker 9: d C. Kind of looking at the tour itinerary that
Speaker 9: you sent us, so it's good.
Speaker 20: Yeah, totally. We'll call this we call this little tour,
Speaker 20: not a tour. Yeah, so because it's not a tour,
Speaker 20: it's like a little run.
Speaker 13: But like people, our fans and you know, our supporters
Speaker 13: have been asking us for the longest time, or where
Speaker 13: you guys, when are you guys gonna go on tour?
Speaker 20: Like when they come into like you.
Speaker 5: Know, my area and anywhere, like yeah, right, Like usually.
Speaker 13: It's like West Coast and we're like, uh, you know,
Speaker 13: not sure, like it might take us a little bit,
Speaker 13: but we're trying to branch out as much as possible.
Speaker 13: And this is our second run already, and we did
Speaker 13: for the first one in April, right, and then that
Speaker 13: we went to Pennsylvania, upstate New York and then.
Speaker 20: Two shows in Ohio. That was super cool.
Speaker 13: So we're you know, excited to do it all over
Speaker 13: again and we're hitting some you know, places that we
Speaker 13: haven't played before. Yeah, so super excited about it.
Speaker 9: Outstanding. We should mention too, The Pain that Makes Us Grow.
Speaker 9: That's your band's full length album that comes out June twentieth,
Speaker 9: twenty twenty five, and you've got four singles that have
Speaker 9: been plays on Serious XM's octane channel, Toxic, Overcome, Victim,
Speaker 9: and Ludacy. We played Toxic here just a few minutes ago.
Speaker 9: You also sent us a track that I really really love,
Speaker 9: what a Time and yeah, and that's brand new, correct.
Speaker 13: We just dropped it literally yesterday and it's already doing
Speaker 13: phenomenally well on streaming. And we've been listening to your
Speaker 13: show like for about an hour before we got on, right,
Speaker 13: So we you know, we're doing the same kind of
Speaker 13: waterfall thing a lot of bands are doing nowadays, but
Speaker 13: we're added a little twist to it where we are
Speaker 13: releasing songs on streaming, but we made the whole album
Speaker 13: available on CDs and vinyl, I think as soon as
Speaker 13: the first single was out, right now we're almost done
Speaker 13: with the release thing.
Speaker 14: So so people have been listening to this album for
Speaker 14: like over a year.
Speaker 13: Whoever wanted to direct directly support us, right, whoever was
Speaker 13: kind enough to pick up CD or vinyl. We thought,
Speaker 13: you know, it only makes sense to you know, make
Speaker 13: those people happy and give them the whole you know,
Speaker 13: the whole album ahead of everybody else.
Speaker 9: I think that's a really cool way to do it.
Speaker 9: I commend that. I think that's really really cool. By
Speaker 9: the way, this track, yeah, this track, what a time
Speaker 9: has that been played on the radio at all?
Speaker 13: We just released it and so it hasn't been played
Speaker 13: on the radio yet. I know another radio station just
Speaker 13: added it to rotation the sound too. It So shout
Speaker 13: out to those guys as well, super thankful for their
Speaker 13: support and obviously to Octane, you know, supporting our journey
Speaker 13: as an independent artists.
Speaker 20: This is you know, next to unheard of. Not many
Speaker 20: independent bands.
Speaker 13: Can can say that they've been so lucky to have
Speaker 13: like four singles in rotation and you know, needless to say,
Speaker 13: this exposure got us.
Speaker 20: So in front of a huge audience. Right.
Speaker 13: So, yeah, we get messages every single day saying I
Speaker 13: heard you guys here, I heard you guys there. I
Speaker 13: really love your sound and people are picking up Merged,
Speaker 13: people are picking up a full album to check it out,
Speaker 13: you know, and like we're you know, we're super grateful
Speaker 13: for that.
Speaker 9: That's outstanding. By the way, what is the meaning of that?
Speaker 9: I love the title of the upcoming album, the Pain
Speaker 9: that makes Us grow? Right, what can you talk a
Speaker 9: little bit about that about the time?
Speaker 20: Yeah, for sure, absolutely.
Speaker 13: So this is actually related to the line we have
Speaker 13: in one of our other singles called Overcome, and the
Speaker 13: line goes, if we overcome the pain, we will grow.
Speaker 14: Yeah, that's the line from the chorus.
Speaker 13: That's the line from the chorus, right. And we had
Speaker 13: quite a few titles that we were choosing from, but
Speaker 13: this one kind of stood out, and the graphic designer,
Speaker 13: Kevin Moore, that that was helping us to make the
Speaker 13: artwork for the album on the visual side and the branding.
Speaker 13: He was like, I really like this title, you guys,
Speaker 13: I think you should go with this, and I already
Speaker 13: have kind of a vision for the artwork and for
Speaker 13: you know, the whole album design, and so we listened
Speaker 13: and you know, never looked back and you were so
Speaker 13: happy about it.
Speaker 20: But you know, if you think.
Speaker 13: About it, if like when we thought of this title
Speaker 13: being one of the options with that, there's fourteen songs
Speaker 13: on the album, and each of them is kind of
Speaker 13: related to a point of.
Speaker 20: Like, you know, experiencing discomfort or pain.
Speaker 13: You know, they're they're like, not really that many happy
Speaker 13: songs on the album as far as from from the
Speaker 13: from the perspective of all like this guy is blue
Speaker 13: and you know, the sun is up and the life
Speaker 13: is beautiful. The life is beautiful, but it's also full
Speaker 13: of problems, you know. So we want to talk about
Speaker 13: those problems, and we want to talk and bring up
Speaker 13: issues that you know are happening in the world every day,
Speaker 13: you know.
Speaker 11: So I want to inspire people to never look back
Speaker 11: and keep doing what you're doing.
Speaker 13: Growing, Yeah, keep growing, keep overcoming the pain and discomfort,
Speaker 13: because we believe that's that's when you actually grow.
Speaker 9: Yeah. Oh, I love it. I love it. I think
Speaker 9: that's I think that's awesome. And I think I think
Speaker 9: a lot of people who I assume people who listen
Speaker 9: to your music who gravitate to what you're doing and
Speaker 9: have become fans. That that's probably something that really resonates
Speaker 9: with people. And I think that's awesome.
Speaker 20: Definitely.
Speaker 13: Yeah, a lot of people have expressed, you know, their
Speaker 13: gratitude for us talking about, you know, problems like mental
Speaker 13: health issues and you know, bring raising awareness about that
Speaker 13: and talking about anxiety and you know, being slightly paranoid
Speaker 13: that the world can be over at any moment in time,
Speaker 13: you know, because you know, we'll live in an interesting time, right,
Speaker 13: So so this is what what a time is actually about, correctly,
Speaker 13: this is this This was written about the fear of.
Speaker 20: Basically nuclear war. Yeah, and that happened after.
Speaker 13: You know, our motherland, Russia invaded Ukraine a couple of
Speaker 13: years ago, and we were very concerned about that whole
Speaker 13: situation and very concerned that you know, the escalation of
Speaker 13: the problem might let you know, might lead to the
Speaker 13: end of humanity.
Speaker 9: Is we know, Yeah, I can. I can really relate too,
Speaker 9: because I'm you know, I'm older, and I'm a Cold
Speaker 9: war kid and growing up growing up in the eighties,
Speaker 9: I was I had an obsession is too strong a word,
Speaker 9: but I definitely had an unhealthy preoccupation with the threat
Speaker 9: of that, and so I can no, I can relate.
Speaker 9: And you know, it's funny too because we had on
Speaker 9: you might have heard Ryan Redwood our previous guests. He's
Speaker 9: got that song Tomorrow, which is uh, you know which
Speaker 9: which kind of reference is that as well? So interesting,
Speaker 9: it's a it's a day of themes I suppose, uh,
Speaker 9: but yeah, I think that that's this is something too,
Speaker 9: because I do want to play that track at the
Speaker 9: end of our conversation because it's so good and I
Speaker 9: like all I like all the I like all the
Speaker 9: songs I listened to. They're they're really really good. But
Speaker 9: but no, I think it's it's something very relatable for people,
Speaker 9: and we should.
Speaker 12: Uh.
Speaker 9: The time goes the time goes quickly, but I want
Speaker 9: to make sure we remind people again, especially for people
Speaker 9: just too. And by the way, I do want to
Speaker 9: do this again. Uh, this was kind of last minute,
Speaker 9: but I do want to do this again when we
Speaker 9: have time to really, oh for sure, because I will
Speaker 9: be there, yeah, right next to absolutely. I want to
Speaker 9: learn about your backgrounds and and influences and all that
Speaker 9: kind of stuff. So but uh, so we will do
Speaker 9: that in the future for sure. But but I want
Speaker 9: to make sure we remind people before we run out
Speaker 9: of time too, because you've got the two big shows
Speaker 9: uh uh, You've got on the twentieth uh and the
Speaker 9: twenty second and and these are these are very important
Speaker 9: shows for you. Obviously, this is absolutely a big deal.
Speaker 13: Especially one of them is in New Hampshire area, right
Speaker 13: right in Hampton, New Hampshire. We're playing that Walleys with
Speaker 13: the Funeral Portrait and the Rasmus and Glass Waves, and
Speaker 13: this is gonna be an amazing show. And if you're
Speaker 13: listening and thinking, oh maybe I should come, or but
Speaker 13: I don't know, like I have a lot of things
Speaker 13: going on, definitely get there.
Speaker 20: It's a Thursday night, so Thursday night, it's almost Friday.
Speaker 20: You're gonna feel so great. You know, it's gonna be
Speaker 20: a huge party.
Speaker 9: There you go, there, you go, absolutely And by the way,
Speaker 9: where's the best place to go onlinehere should people go
Speaker 9: to keep up with everything that Major Moment is doing.
Speaker 14: Oh so we'll try to be everywhere possible. We have
Speaker 14: a website, Major Moment band dot com. We're on every
Speaker 14: single social.
Speaker 21: Media platform obviously Instagram, FACEBOOKIOK, streaming, Yeah, any streaming platform,
Speaker 21: so probably can find us everywhere.
Speaker 20: Yeah, wherever you are, we're there.
Speaker 9: Excellent. That's the way to do it. Yeah, that's the
Speaker 9: way to do it. All right. Well, Andre and Sasha,
Speaker 9: thank you both so much. Wonderful to meet you and
Speaker 9: and like I said, for having us. Absolutely and we'll
Speaker 9: we'll do it again in the future. We'll have an
Speaker 9: extended discussion and good luck with those shows. And I
Speaker 9: love the music, and uh, I'm really excited to share
Speaker 9: this track Major Moment with with our listeners. So we'll
Speaker 9: let you go for now and then I'm gonna hit
Speaker 9: that track. But thank you both so much, Thank you
Speaker 9: so much.
Speaker 20: Looking forward to having another conversation with you.
Speaker 9: Absolutely, absolutely, all right, take care, bye bye. All right,
Speaker 9: very cool. That was Andre and Sasha. They are the
Speaker 9: they are the vocalists, and you know, they do a
Speaker 9: co lead vocal thing which is really really cool for
Speaker 9: the band Major Moment and this is that's that's that's
Speaker 9: their band, that's their baby. H They're they're doing great
Speaker 9: things and having a lot of success, which is really cool.
Speaker 9: So I love their sound. We're gonna play this. We're
Speaker 9: gonna end this segment with this track Major from major moment.
Speaker 9: This is called what a Time? And if you are
Speaker 9: listening live on Saturday, make sure you stick around. I'm
Speaker 9: coming up in the third hour. I gotta see they
Speaker 9: might be here. In fact, I gotta go let them
Speaker 9: in if they are. Moonlight Ride is gonna be here
Speaker 9: a live in studio with us for our number three
Speaker 9: new Marrow trace of Matt Condorton unleashed on this Saturday.
