Speaker 2: I love that. That is really really good. That is
Speaker 2: called Luna, and the band is the SERTs, And we
Speaker 2: don't haven't booked on the show yet. They will be
Speaker 2: on the show soon though, I'm sure. And that track
Speaker 2: is not out yet. You have heard it here first
Speaker 2: that is the world radio premiere of Luna by the
Speaker 2: SERTs courtesy of Matt Connerton Unleashed, and of course we
Speaker 2: opened with We Beat the British from our friends the
Speaker 2: Melted Chapsticks, who we saw recently at the Spot in
Speaker 2: Nashua for a great show. That's where we met those guys,
Speaker 2: Frankie Hollywood and those guys. They will be here in
Speaker 2: studio with us, I believe on August first, so we
Speaker 2: look forward to that. We Beat the British, the perfect
Speaker 2: way to open the show. With apologies to my British friends, Hi,
Speaker 2: Stacey and Jeff if you're listening, but I'm pretty sure
Speaker 2: you are. That's who I watched Fireworks with last night. Ironically,
Speaker 2: and another irony in all of this, We've got three
Speaker 2: musical guests for you today and they all happen to
Speaker 2: be from the UK. I did not plan it that way.
Speaker 2: It's just how it all worked out. But here we are,
Speaker 2: and yes we are live, even though it is a holiday.
Speaker 2: As I explained last week, since moving the show to Saturdays,
Speaker 2: we have not missed one single Saturday. We have been
Speaker 2: here fifty two Saturdays out of the year. So I
Speaker 2: asked the big boss. I said, hey, can I still
Speaker 2: come in even tho it's a holiday.
Speaker 3: It'll just be me.
Speaker 2: I'll be the only one in the studio. He'll just
Speaker 2: be remote guests. And he was cool with it. So
Speaker 2: here we are and it is cool.
Speaker 3: You know what.
Speaker 2: I just realized by the way the ceiling fan is
Speaker 2: on last I knew last summer. I think it had
Speaker 2: stopped working at one point. They must have gotten it fixed.
Speaker 2: But the ceiling fan is working. No wonder it's so
Speaker 2: comfortable in here because this hot outside, So good luck everybody,
Speaker 2: it is very very hot outside. But yes, this is
Speaker 2: Matt Connorton Unleashed and we are live from the studios
Speaker 2: of WMNH ninety five point three FM and Glorious Hot
Speaker 2: but Glorious, Manchester, New Hampshire. And of course you can
Speaker 2: stream the show from anywhere. Go to my website Matt

Speaker 2: find all your streaming options and social media links and
Speaker 2: contact info and show archives, etc. Etc. And don't forget
Speaker 2: about our new site too, Matt Connorton Unleashed dot com.
Speaker 2: Maybe I should stop saying it's new, but I don't know,
Speaker 2: it's just easy to say where you can also find
Speaker 2: the full archive of the show there and more information
Speaker 2: about the show and so on and so forth. So
Speaker 2: we do have a very busy show for you today also,
Speaker 2: and I will mention this throughout the show, but there's
Speaker 2: a big show happening today in Nashua, the fourth of
Speaker 2: July Rock Show, Thank you to our veterans and active
Speaker 2: duty service members. Happy two hundred and fiftieth America. Here
Speaker 2: is the lineup. Show starts at two pm, Six Minds Combined.
Speaker 2: At three pm, Aaron Billido will perform Aerin By the way,
Speaker 2: we'll be on the show with us too. He'll be
Speaker 2: here next week. He's been on a bunch of times.
Speaker 2: He's amazing. Four pm Super Child, five PM Sunset Electric,
Speaker 2: six pm, Born Fools and Dead Harrison headlining at seven pm.
Speaker 2: Also Airflow Projection Art and this will be happening at
Speaker 2: twenty six Sergeant's av in Nashua, twenty six Sergeants Ave.
Speaker 2: So the show starts at two pm, kicks off with
Speaker 2: six Minds Combined. Yeah, three of these no, I'm sorry four.
Speaker 2: Four of these artists in this lineup have all been
Speaker 2: on the show. Six Mindes. Aaron Billdo, Sunset Electric and
Speaker 2: Dead Harrison. I do not know Superchild or Born Fools,
Speaker 2: but if we can get there, perhaps I'll get them
Speaker 2: to meet them today. But yeah, so big show happening
Speaker 2: today again, I said, twenty six Sergeants Avenue in Nashua.
Speaker 2: It is a residential neighborhood. So if you're looking for
Speaker 2: it and you're thinking you're in the wrong place and
Speaker 2: maybe you got the address wrong or something, you did not,
Speaker 2: although I'm sure you know you'll see everything set up anyway,
Speaker 2: But twenty six Sergeants have in Nashua. Show starts today
Speaker 2: at two, the fourth of July Rock Show, and we're
Speaker 2: gonna have eleanor Luna. Speaking of Luna, it's funny the
Speaker 2: song that we played from the SARTs is called Luna.
Speaker 2: Eleanor Luna will be We were chatting via messenger earlier.
Speaker 2: She's obviously very busy today, but but she is going
Speaker 2: to be joining us on the show soon to talk
Speaker 2: about a lot of things going on in Nashua. So,
Speaker 2: without further ado, we need to get to our first guest,
Speaker 2: which means we need to go ahead and play the
Speaker 2: new single by the Way You heard the World radio
Speaker 2: premiere just a couple of weeks ago of this track.
Speaker 2: It's called Let's Party Like It's the nineties. You heard
Speaker 2: it here first on this show on WMNH. But now
Speaker 2: we're going to get to talk to I think I
Speaker 2: think we've got Luke from the band who's going to
Speaker 2: be joining us via WhatsApp. Oh, we had major problems
Speaker 2: with WhatsApp last week. Fingers crossed. Everything goes smooth this time.
Speaker 3: But check this out.
Speaker 2: If you missed it before, you'll hear it right now.
Speaker 2: Let's Party Like It's the nineties and the band is
Speaker 2: the radio addicts.
Speaker 6: Last, I try to stay from the back of the room.
Speaker 3: Let my must change.
Speaker 7: I'll see a strange to somebody will finally recognize me.

Speaker 13: O k yes, Jaspar, I love this cha yes, ch yes.
Speaker 5: I love it.
Speaker 2: Let's party like it's the nineties. The band is the
Speaker 2: Radio Addicts and we've got I think we have Luke Luke.
Speaker 5: Are you there?
Speaker 14: Nisuami amidos?
Speaker 3: Hello, Matts?
Speaker 5: How are you good?
Speaker 2: How are you doing?
Speaker 14: I am very very very very good, Matt. Now that
Speaker 14: I'm on your show, Matt, I'm feeling incredible right right now.
Speaker 14: Thank you so much for having me on.
Speaker 2: Oh that is wonderful I appreciate that validation and.
Speaker 5: That's good to hear.
Speaker 3: Now, is it just you?
Speaker 2: Are you the only band member with.
Speaker 14: Us well so far, yes, as me and Daniel in England.
Speaker 14: We've just been sitting at our exams and stuff like that,
Speaker 14: so we're all very, very, very tired. But you know what, Matt,
Speaker 14: I've not given up.
Speaker 5: Matt.
Speaker 14: I knew that it was your show and I would
Speaker 14: not miss this for the world.
Speaker 2: Oh my goodness, Wow, you're making me feel great. Well,
Speaker 2: thank you, Luke. I appreciate that. I appreciate you guys
Speaker 2: very much.
Speaker 14: To welcome my friends, very welcome.
Speaker 2: Love that song. Let's party like it's the nineties and
Speaker 2: I'm old enough to remember what it was like to
Speaker 2: party in the nineties, to the extent that I did
Speaker 2: actually party, which wasn't very much because I'm not a partier.
Speaker 2: But but I mean, let's start with the obvious question though,
Speaker 2: So what's what's that about? I mean, uh, what, or
Speaker 2: I guess it's obvious what's it about? But what was
Speaker 2: the genesis of that track? What what made you want
Speaker 2: to write that?
Speaker 14: So I remember being in school and I was in
Speaker 14: history class and I have these notes. Well, like I
Speaker 14: get bored, but I get so bored that I'm naturally
Speaker 14: just so now, and I remember feeling so bored. So
Speaker 14: I just went, you know what, I want to party.
Speaker 14: I want to go out with my friends. I'm sick
Speaker 14: of doing this. I want to just have a good time.
Speaker 14: And then the let's party like it's the nineties bit
Speaker 14: just hit me up my mind. And then history class
Speaker 14: was where I wrote the first ever chorus of that
Speaker 14: songwhere it's like, let's party like it's the nineties. So
Speaker 14: so it was all about me stuck in school, me
Speaker 14: stuck in real life and wanted to leave real life.
Speaker 14: And now the best nights out as humanly can.
Speaker 2: Very good, very good. So it sounds like the son
Speaker 2: came pretty quick, So was it? I mean, did you
Speaker 2: literally write the entire thing during history class or did
Speaker 2: you just get the chorus and you got the rest
Speaker 2: of it later.
Speaker 14: So when history class, I got the chorus, and then
Speaker 14: after that I went home. I had some lovely McDonald's
Speaker 14: when I got home, some lovely chitty no dots and fries. Yes,
Speaker 14: And after that I sat down and then the verses
Speaker 14: just came straight at me.
Speaker 2: Oh interesting, interesting, by the way, So I mentioned. I
Speaker 2: don't know if you were listening, but I mentioned at
Speaker 2: the top of the show. So I have a very
Speaker 2: close friend who is British who tells me that McDonald's
Speaker 2: is very different there and that it's much higher quality
Speaker 2: than in the United States.
Speaker 14: It is, it is. It is no offense. But I
Speaker 14: have been to America. I have been to what was
Speaker 14: the world's biggest McDonald's in Florida, and I must admit
Speaker 14: the English one I don't. I don't want to say
Speaker 14: it's more fancier, but like they put more efforts into
Speaker 14: the meals, which I don't really know. I mean, like
Speaker 14: McDonald's standards isn't quite high, but I must admit the
Speaker 14: meal quality fuels a lot better. So no offense to
Speaker 14: the American viewers. But if this, but if British McDonald's,
Speaker 14: like made to want or to would come to England,
Speaker 14: then absolutely go for it. Turn over and try ours
Speaker 14: at dot Donald's. Is it's absolutely lovely, very.
Speaker 2: Good, very good. Yeah, we eat a lot of Maybe
Speaker 2: I shouldn't say this. It's a very patriotic holiday in
Speaker 2: the United States, obviously, but we we do it a
Speaker 2: lot of that live for yes, yes, and I and
Speaker 2: I I did say at the top of the show,
Speaker 2: and because I have all all UK artists on the
Speaker 2: show today, which I did not plan it that way.
Speaker 2: It's just how it worked out. But so so you're
Speaker 2: the you're the first on the on the roster today.
Speaker 2: But God bless God.
Speaker 14: Bless England and God bless America.
Speaker 2: Yes, yes, well you know, I mean obviously, uh you guys,
Speaker 2: there have been a huge influence in our music, you know,
Speaker 2: without the you know, we talked about the British invasion,
Speaker 2: British invasion bands, you know, all those bands that helped
Speaker 2: shape American music. So we owe you that.
Speaker 14: Well, you are very very welcome. We're welcomed. She's not
Speaker 14: Paul John Ringo and all of those those we almost
Speaker 14: of America. Oh wait, sorry, not right. So in England,
Speaker 14: Jelyot is a bit different here as July, the four
Speaker 14: favorites actually celebrate in the one year anniversary of Oasis
Speaker 14: coming back. Oh so for us, it's like National Oasists
Speaker 14: Day here. So I'm celebrating.
Speaker 2: Now, how do you feel about Oasis? They're one of
Speaker 2: my favorite bands. But you know, when I when I
Speaker 2: talk to people from uh that that side of the pond,
Speaker 2: shall we say, I get mixed reactions. Some people are
Speaker 2: kind of sick of them and some people love them obviously,
Speaker 2: I mean, how do you feel about Oasis?
Speaker 14: I mean personally for me, they're one of the most
Speaker 14: influential bands on the planet. And the thing is, what
Speaker 14: I find is that people who say that, oh no,
Speaker 14: I don't really like Oasis have only listened to Underwall
Speaker 14: and called it a day, like did you actually go
Speaker 14: into the details? And obviously like I was there when
Speaker 14: they're told the UK and and died from Manchester, But
Speaker 14: but I went to London, which is like a sit
Speaker 14: to drive seem and I generally I bursted it into
Speaker 14: tears my song live. It was one of the greatest
Speaker 14: days of my life. So were people who say they
Speaker 14: don't like a waste. I guess they're a bit like
Speaker 14: poses in a way, well, like pretend to know stuff,
Speaker 14: but really listen to to Wonder Wall and and and
Speaker 14: and don't know Basnanga. So if it's not truly listen
Speaker 14: to them, go into their back catalog, listen to the
Speaker 14: master plan, which is all their B sides, yes, and
Speaker 14: truly getting into them. As no offense to people who
Speaker 14: don't like Oasis, but actually listen to them, it's incredible.
Speaker 14: I agree, yeah, at least that's my thoughts on it.
Speaker 2: My my my favorite Oasis song is ach Wei Switch
Speaker 2: as you know, was the B side?
Speaker 14: Oh well, that was actually the songs that I started
Speaker 14: crying and actually.
Speaker 2: Nodding the song.
Speaker 14: I was like, yes, no, loved yes, it's actually happened
Speaker 14: in and just burst into turms. That was actual on that.
Speaker 2: Side, crying on Oh, that's awesome. Was that on the
Speaker 2: reunion tour that they did over there or was that before?
Speaker 14: Yes?
Speaker 2: It was, yes, it was.
Speaker 14: It was the second song von of the A set list.
Speaker 2: Okay, okay, yeah, oh that's awesome. I'm so jealous. I've
Speaker 2: never seen them, never seen them live. So so what
Speaker 2: artists influenced that song? That's party like it's the nineties,
Speaker 2: Like did you have were there any particular artists that
Speaker 2: you had in mind, like maybe nineties artists or artists
Speaker 2: from any time period that influenced the song or did
Speaker 2: the song just kind of form in your brain and
Speaker 2: it came out how it came out?
Speaker 14: Well, I think it's a it's a bit strange. It's
Speaker 14: obviously in my brain like sometimes it it does just
Speaker 14: flow out, but there's a brick. But there's a British
Speaker 14: band called the Wombats and they have a song called
Speaker 14: Let's Stance to Joy Division Oh, which is basically like
Speaker 14: Let's Party Line the nineties, but ten times better and
Speaker 14: so like, so like I was listening to that and
Speaker 14: I was like, Wow, that's great and the song sort
Speaker 14: of feels like if the Wombats and the Buzzcocks had
Speaker 14: kids and then that kids could perform like Robbie Williams.
Speaker 14: Like that's the kind of vibe like the sort of
Speaker 14: gives so yeah, to be honest, the music that sort
Speaker 14: of inspires me is sort of like more modern music,
Speaker 14: like like Life. I tried to think of some American
Speaker 14: bands which with which like have inspired me, liked T
Speaker 14: two to like I love Like they're like my different alternative.
Speaker 14: But like, the British indie scene at the moment is incredible.
Speaker 14: We've got bands like The Roys and Club the Key,
Speaker 14: so you've probably never ever heard of, but there should
Speaker 14: be so much bigger as they are incredible. So the
Speaker 14: music that's bagging the most is like the New Ones.
Speaker 14: It's it's almost like it's almost like we're all friends
Speaker 14: and we're all like taking our ideas which other and
Speaker 14: turn it into our own. So the song sort of
Speaker 14: came from like my brain just wanting to be partying
Speaker 14: and so just all of the modern new music that's
Speaker 14: out now.
Speaker 2: Yeah, that makes sense. I imagine it gets a good
Speaker 2: response live too. People probably sing along.
Speaker 14: Oh yeah, I mean, like I remember, it was like
Speaker 14: a few days be before the song like actually came out.
Speaker 14: We played a gig and obviously with bittasing it to
Speaker 14: like four weeks with the tours and stuff like that,
Speaker 14: and people and people started like proper sending it back
Speaker 14: to us. And to be completely honest, I pried like
Speaker 14: life an absolute baby. But when it happened, because it's
Speaker 14: never ever happened before. Yeah, and and yet honestly, it
Speaker 14: was just one of the It was honestly just one
Speaker 14: of the greatest moments of my life and that I
Speaker 14: can never ever ever thank those people who changed that gid.
Speaker 2: You know, yeah, I mean it's you know, I'm a musician,
Speaker 2: and I know that it's when when you see people
Speaker 2: reacting to your music and jumping around and whatever, that's
Speaker 2: that's obviously very validating, But when they actually know the
Speaker 2: words and they start singing or they learn the words
Speaker 2: because obviously you can learn that chorus pretty quickly, you know,
Speaker 2: and they're so engaged and involved in it that they're
Speaker 2: actually singing along. I mean, that's that is an incredible feeling,
Speaker 2: no doubt, no doubt.
Speaker 14: Show. Well, my ego got boosted so oft. I mean
Speaker 14: I went from like being like a teenage kid to
Speaker 14: acting like Liam Gallagher and like ten seconds, like Maido
Speaker 14: went from zero to a thousand and then came straight
Speaker 14: down again. When we played I was on and no
Speaker 14: one knew the words. It was just such a great moment.
Speaker 2: Yeah, no doubt. Are you guys playing a lot of shows?
Speaker 14: Uh yeah yeah, yeah, yeah yeah yeah, Like we're Honestly,
Speaker 14: I love being in this band so much as every
Speaker 14: weekend almost we'd go out and we play outside of
Speaker 14: our hometown of Bolton, which I know for some people
Speaker 14: sound sounds like the norm, but really it isn't. Like
Speaker 14: we have lots of friends and musicians who we were
Speaker 14: in Bolton who like once a year they might go
Speaker 14: to Sheffield, which is like an hour to hour try
Speaker 14: from Bolton. Judjo just your American listeners, and it's incredible,
Speaker 14: Like we make new fans, we meet new people, and
Speaker 14: we actually have our biggest head headline show at a
Speaker 14: venue in Manchester called the Death Institute, and we're so
Speaker 14: close to selling it out and that's going to be
Speaker 14: like a really big party for us. So every week
Speaker 14: weekend we're playing in new cities, new places and making
Speaker 14: new friends and it's the best job in the entire world,
Speaker 14: and I cannot be more grateful that on this earth,
Speaker 14: I'm given this life to do this job and it's
Speaker 14: the best feeling ever and I wouldn't change it for anything.
Speaker 14: So every week it's constant gigs and gigs and I'll
Speaker 14: love it.
Speaker 2: Oh that's awesome, that's fantastic. And how long have you
Speaker 2: guys been around, because I know you're very young, right,
Speaker 2: has this has this span been around for long or
Speaker 2: is it relatively new?
Speaker 14: I mean it depends what your early classes knew was
Speaker 14: we've been technically if we've been around for two years,
Speaker 14: but we released that first single last year, so I
Speaker 14: would say that definitely in the Bolton scene in our home,
Speaker 14: we've been around for a decent bit. But I think
Speaker 14: to some people, like two years are still quite new. Yeah,
Speaker 14: So I think it just depends what you define you as.
Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, did the set like when you when you
Speaker 2: formed the band? I mean, did the sound come together
Speaker 2: pretty quickly? I mean, as it changed in that short
Speaker 2: period of time, or did you sound like you sound
Speaker 2: from the beginning?
Speaker 14: Oh my goodness, it has changed. I cannot watch some
Speaker 14: of those old videos really. I mean, like, I mean,
Speaker 14: like we used to do like ten Green Day covers
Speaker 14: in one set, and I was like, what we're doing?
Speaker 14: So like people who saw to say, like, oh, no,
Speaker 14: you're born with talent. You're not. You need to work
Speaker 14: on that talent, like like yeah, So, like we've worked
Speaker 14: hard and we've tried to like craft our own hunique sound.
Speaker 14: There's a lot of bands, Oh I want to sound
Speaker 14: like the Rolling Stones, I want to sound like t
Speaker 14: X two. But like, we don't want to be the
Speaker 14: second Green Day. We want to be the first Radio Yeah,
Speaker 14: and that's all we want to be. So yeah, it's
Speaker 14: definitely taken work, Like you have to work to find
Speaker 14: your sound. If it comes naturally, then I envy you
Speaker 14: so much. As it's taken a lot of hard work
Speaker 14: to try and find our sound.
Speaker 2: Right right, And where does the name come from? By
Speaker 2: the way, the radio addicts. I mean, you know, I
Speaker 2: don't know if there's a story behind it or if
Speaker 2: it's just I know.
Speaker 14: There is a story behind it, my friend story behind it. Right,
Speaker 14: So my mom, right, I love her obviously, so so,
Speaker 14: so so much. But in the car she listens to
Speaker 14: this radio station. Now I won't say the name of
Speaker 14: this radio station, but it is not good. Like, honestly,
Speaker 14: it's utterly terrible. It's the same ten pop songs.
Speaker 2: On loop and.
Speaker 14: Then they have Throwback Thursday and stuff like that where
Speaker 14: it's just another of those same pop songs repeated on loop.
Speaker 14: And honestly it's it's honestly awful, right, And so like
Speaker 14: when I form the band's like, I got in my
Speaker 14: mum's car and I was like, oh, not this radio
Speaker 14: station again, And in my mind I went, I really
Speaker 14: wish I could be addicted to the radio, and then went,
Speaker 14: oh my goodness. So it was almost like like you
Speaker 14: know how in like Disney Channel movies that they have
Speaker 14: like light bulb moments, it's like really over dramatic like that.
Speaker 14: Oh yeah, yeah, I was like, I wish I'd addicted
Speaker 14: to the radio. Praise one, It's that's it. So yeah,
Speaker 14: so that's how the name came.
Speaker 3: It's such a cool name.
Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's such a cool name. It's it's almost
Speaker 2: surprising that somebody didn't already have it, you know, but
Speaker 2: that's great, thank you.
Speaker 15: Yeah.
Speaker 14: Well, well the radio is so is is so important
Speaker 14: and that's the reason why, like like like stream of
Speaker 14: music is good and we get like a bunch of
Speaker 14: music at our fit fit fingertips. But I don't want
Speaker 14: to lose radio, like genuinely now that I found like
Speaker 14: my favorite radio station, like yours, Matt, like like like,
Speaker 14: i don't want it to go. It's why I'm always
Speaker 14: on the radio doing interviews. I'm always its about local
Speaker 14: radio station. I'm always listening to Radio X in Manchester.
Speaker 6: Is.
Speaker 14: I don't want these radio stations to go. They're so important,
Speaker 14: and people don't realize how much of our lives are
Speaker 14: made up from radio.
Speaker 2: Absolutely, uh you know. And there's some people who thought
Speaker 2: that radio would be dead by now, you know, because
Speaker 2: that's technology, you know, because of streaming and podcasts and everything.
Speaker 2: But it's still thriving. It's definitely changed, you know, and
Speaker 2: and obviously the radio has had to adapt, you know,
Speaker 2: like like all the shows now like this show for example,
Speaker 2: obviously we're you know, we're live on FM radio in
Speaker 2: our area, but we're also streaming, you know, and then
Speaker 2: it goes up as a podcast and but you know,
Speaker 2: you just it's just a matter of adapting. But but
Speaker 2: I agree with you, radio is very important.
Speaker 1: Yeah.
Speaker 14: Yeah. One thing I found with like radio stations is
Speaker 14: that like it's now like listen online or watch online now, yeah,
Speaker 14: to type in the website and with some life, which
Speaker 14: I thought was quite cool. But yeah, I don't want
Speaker 14: videos soever. It should not be become a niche. It
Speaker 14: should stay mainstream.
Speaker 2: But that's just my opinion obviously, Yeah, one hundred percent,
Speaker 2: And obviously I'm biased, but I don't I don't want
Speaker 2: all this to go away ever. But yeah, no I don't.
Speaker 2: I don't think it's going anywhere. So I want to
Speaker 2: ask you about so in a in a moment, we're
Speaker 2: going to app well, after we wrap up our conversation,
Speaker 2: I am going to play another song from yours. I'm
Speaker 2: gonna play this song scroll My Life Away, at the
Speaker 2: conclusion of our our conversation. But oh absolutely, this is
Speaker 2: another great song. But I want to know more about
Speaker 2: this song and what inspired it because it sounds like
Speaker 2: it's very uh, you know, I take it as as
Speaker 2: kind of a critique of of because obviously this is
Speaker 2: a global problem, not just in the US, but there
Speaker 2: as well. You know, people kind of addicted to their
Speaker 2: phones and social media and all of that and and scrolling.
Speaker 2: You know, we call it doom scrolling. I don't know
Speaker 2: if that's the term you use over there.
Speaker 14: It's definitely a term here that is that is not
Speaker 14: just just just America. Do do doom scrolling is in England,
Speaker 14: in the UK. Don't don't worry, it's the same.
Speaker 2: So I mean, I assume that's what inspired the songs
Speaker 2: Scroll My Life Away.
Speaker 14: Oh yeah. Well, the thing is is that, like I
Speaker 14: remember one time I was a bit younger, but but
Speaker 14: I was in like a restaurant and I saw like
Speaker 14: three tables of like families and like all of them,
Speaker 14: I'd liked these like four year olds with these big
Speaker 14: iPads and these big cases holding it up and now
Speaker 14: just like just scrolling and watching videos and like tapping
Speaker 14: the streams and not like getting invested into real life.
Speaker 14: And then and then, and then, like the more I
Speaker 14: look I looked around, I saw teenagers strolling I saw
Speaker 14: that you had to order on a screen, and I
Speaker 14: was like, what what what, what's like happening and stuff
Speaker 14: like that and now and that was just like and
Speaker 14: I'm stunned as obviously, like when the phone first came out,
Speaker 14: nobody thought thought it would be this bid. And there
Speaker 14: are positives to the Internet, like like like the raids
Speaker 14: have grown because of the Internet with made new fans
Speaker 14: clays the Internet. But it's it steals time, that's the
Speaker 14: main thing. It steals time from younger kids to live
Speaker 14: their life. And it scares me on how much it's
Speaker 14: changed and how much worse. It's sort of getting so
Speaker 14: strong My life way is sort of like me just
Speaker 14: venting on what is going on? And with the there's
Speaker 14: nothing interesting anymore. But it's almost like a character almost
Speaker 14: going like like there's nothing interest anymore. I've done so much,
Speaker 14: I've strong so much, there's literally nothing, like my brain's fried.
Speaker 14: So it's so it's sort of like it's sort of
Speaker 14: like me voicing through a character, what is going on here?
Speaker 14: Come on, let let let's sort of grow, touch some glass,
Speaker 14: go outside. Yeah, like it's sort of just doing come on, guys, just.
Speaker 2: Grow, come on right, right, well, it's to your credit
Speaker 2: to you know, the because I know you guys are young,
Speaker 2: that you know someone your age, uh perceives that, and
Speaker 2: and because you know, it's easy for me to see it,
Speaker 2: like because I'm I'm Generation X. My generation was the
Speaker 2: last generation to really kind of grow up without the Internet,
Speaker 2: and so so I remember, I sort of remember. It's
Speaker 2: almost kind of surreal remembering life pre Internet. And don't
Speaker 2: get me wrong, I love what we have now. You know,
Speaker 2: I don't so much of what I do I wouldn't
Speaker 2: be able to do without the Internet. So and I
Speaker 2: love that I can access music, you know, easily, and
Speaker 2: every everything about it is wonderful. But but yeah, you
Speaker 2: do see you see people with their heads and their phones,
Speaker 2: you know, or or a common problem here is I'll
Speaker 2: be uh, I'll be at an intersection and the light
Speaker 2: will turn from red to green, but the car in
Speaker 2: front of me isn't moving, and and you know, a
Speaker 2: few seconds. You know, I'm a patient guy, so I'll
Speaker 2: give them a few seconds. But then I end up
Speaker 2: having to hank that horn because and I know what
Speaker 2: it is. They're looking at their phone. Oh yeah, Oh.
Speaker 14: That issue is also here in England's my my friends,
Speaker 14: but do not worry me.
Speaker 8: Yeah, don't worry In England it's the same thing, like
Speaker 8: like white people on their phones while driving and like,
Speaker 8: come on, there's a road in front of you, there's
Speaker 8: track it lights.
Speaker 14: In front of your what are you doing?
Speaker 2: Yeah come on?
Speaker 14: Yeah she was also here in England.
Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, no doubt.
Speaker 2: Well, look, this has been wonderful. Thank you so much
Speaker 2: for joining us.
Speaker 14: And you just let me come on and let me
Speaker 14: speak with your new audience. It's utterly incredible to you
Speaker 14: having me. I'm so grateful that. Thank you, Matt. I
Speaker 14: really appreciate it. Oh.
Speaker 2: Oh, absolutely, very glad to do it, and we'll definitely
Speaker 2: do it again in the future and in a moment
Speaker 2: where please, in a moment, we're going to hit that track.
Speaker 2: But before we let you go, one other thing. Where's
Speaker 2: the best place to go online for people to keep
Speaker 2: up with everything that the Radio Addicts is doing?
Speaker 14: Oh okay, so online on everything? It is at the
Speaker 14: Radio Addicts. So that's on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, it is
Speaker 14: at the Rage Addicts. No spaces, no under stores, everything
Speaker 14: is lowercase at the Rage Addicts. Shoot and find tickets, videos,
Speaker 14: interviews everything there. Oh yeah, and we also have our
Speaker 14: website with which is the Radio Addicts dot Com and
Speaker 14: and that has our merch on there as well and
Speaker 14: exclusive photos and videos. So at the radio its on
Speaker 14: on social media and our website, The radios dot Com.
Speaker 2: Okay, okay, very good, very good. Well Luke again, thank
Speaker 2: you so much, my friend. We will definitely do it
Speaker 2: again in the future. We're going to hit that track,
Speaker 2: so we'll let you go for now. But happy, So
Speaker 2: what do you call it there? Happy Oasis Day? What
Speaker 2: do you called July fourth.
Speaker 14: Day?
Speaker 3: A copy fought for July to.
Speaker 14: Our American friends, But.
Speaker 2: It's Oasis Day, all right, Happy Oasis Day, my friend.
Speaker 2: All right, Luke, thank you so much. We'll talk again soon.
Speaker 2: You gotta take care, bye bye.
Speaker 5: All right, wonderful.
Speaker 2: That was Luke from the Radio Addicts. And right now,
Speaker 2: as promised, this is another great track and again you know,
Speaker 2: enjoy the social commentary of it. This is called Scroll
Speaker 2: My Life Away and the band is the Radio Addicts.
Speaker 3: I'm so sad.
Speaker 13: I wanted Joe sleep Good at chance half tad chest today,
Speaker 13: but here be a ah I watch enough and day
Speaker 13: in but then on your God you want. There's not
Speaker 13: say interesting anymore. Nothing from a trapper, span lass well,
Speaker 13: Joe outside, stay side, so my life's away?
Speaker 3: Ohay, oh.
Speaker 5: Wow? Why you are?
Speaker 13: Would be so good right, but don't want to change
Speaker 13: in the world days Joe to hell and I'm watching.
Speaker 5: Your good but I go oh daring.
Speaker 13: I'm telling me.
Speaker 3: Something new and I don't know what to do.
Speaker 13: There's not sick interested anymore, don't be more much trying
Speaker 13: potentials fans to last.
Speaker 3: To Wow well, then.
Speaker 13: Joe outside, I was staying side drum my life's way.
Speaker 3: Ohkay, okay, oh oh.
Speaker 5: Wow? Who are.
Speaker 3: You are?
Speaker 5: Oh oh who who you are? Oh oh.
Speaker 14: Whoa.
Speaker 13: There's nothing interesting anymore. Nothing from a tramp you spend
Speaker 13: last to Wow well, then jo outside, stay inside tram
Speaker 13: my life away? Oha, ohay, there's not a same interesting
Speaker 13: any more. Nothing from a trapetent you spin last to
Speaker 13: Wow they drove outside. I'll stay inside tram my life away.
Speaker 16: Ohay, oh.
Speaker 5: Wow, scroll my life away.
Speaker 2: Very relatable song from the radio Addicts, and again thank
Speaker 2: you to Luke for joining us. I really enjoyed talking
Speaker 2: with him. That was great and of course welcome everybody
Speaker 2: if you are listening live. Yes, we are live. This
Speaker 2: week's show is not pre recorded, even though it is
Speaker 2: a holiday, July fourth, Independence Day, Happy Independence Day. We
Speaker 2: are live from the studios of wm NH ninety five
Speaker 2: point three FM in Glorious Manchester, New Hampshire. This is
Speaker 2: Matt Connorton Unleashed and I think right now, well, first
Speaker 2: let's say hello to everybody in the chat. We've got
Speaker 2: a little bit of time left in the first hour.
Speaker 2: Let's see who we have in here. Loud Entertainment joins
Speaker 2: us and says, good morning, Matt. Super Child is great.
Speaker 2: Super Child one of the bands that is playing today
Speaker 2: at the big event in Nashua. Loud Entertainment says, next
Speaker 2: Friday at Jewel, Pulsifier, Stale Fate, Fourth King, Found Slay,
Speaker 2: the Giant and Exception the only one of those bands
Speaker 2: I'm familiar with. I mean, I've heard of several of them,
Speaker 2: but Pulsifier, Jenny and I actually had dinner with those
Speaker 2: guys once, really really great love Pulsifier. Loud Entertainment also says,
Speaker 2: let's get Loud Entertainment back in the studio. Yes, we
Speaker 2: definitely message me please on Facebook if you can, We'll
Speaker 2: get you back on be Pinard who's always a big
Speaker 2: supporter of the show, says good morning everyone. Isaac Banks
Speaker 2: is in the chat. Isaac Banks, our friend from Greensboro,
Speaker 2: South Carolina, says good morning, Matt and Jen coffee. Happy
Speaker 2: fourth of July, replying to Loud Entertainment, Loud Entertainment, good
Speaker 2: morning and happy fourth of July. Yes, yes, and of
Speaker 2: course for our UK listeners, it is Oasis Day, as
Speaker 2: we learned from our friend Luke from the Radio Addicts,
Speaker 2: So of course we've got if you're just joining us,
Speaker 2: if you didn't hear me to say at the top
Speaker 2: of the show, we've got a three musical guests today.
Speaker 2: Radio Addicts was the first one. We also have the
Speaker 2: Azua Zen Oh sorry, the Azures I think that's how
Speaker 2: you say it. The Azuresins will be with us in
Speaker 2: the second hour. In the third hour, we have Million Years.
Speaker 2: They're all UK bands today, so in the interest of balance,
Speaker 2: because we are an American radio show on an American
Speaker 2: radio station. And by the way, I didn't plan it
Speaker 2: that way that we would have all British bands on
Speaker 2: the show. It just worked out that way. But we
Speaker 2: did open with a new song we beat the British
Speaker 2: from our friends the Melted Chapsticks, great band from Boston,
Speaker 2: and we'll play that again later in the show, probably
Speaker 2: in the second hour. But right now this has become
Speaker 2: an unofficial annual tradition on the show. I like to
Speaker 2: share with you every Fourth of July, or well, it's
Speaker 2: rare that the show actually falls on the fourth itself,
Speaker 2: around the fourth of July. My favorite patriotic song of
Speaker 2: all time. Some people might not think I'm patriotic, but
Speaker 2: I can assure you I am. By the way, I'm
Speaker 2: even wearing my I wanted to wear a shirt today
Speaker 2: that said America on it, but I also wanted to
Speaker 2: wear a shirt from one of the bands that we've
Speaker 2: had on the show that brings us merch. So I'm
Speaker 2: wearing my Heavy America shirt. Heavy America, great band. We
Speaker 2: haven't had them on in like three years. We had
Speaker 2: to get them back on, but I thought, oh, this
Speaker 2: shirt says America and it I'll Heavy America shirt. I
Speaker 2: even have a Heavy America track I'll play later in
Speaker 2: the show. But anyway, but what I would like to
Speaker 2: do now again this has become an unofficial tradition. My
Speaker 2: favorite patriotic song, and it's been my patriotic, My favorite
Speaker 2: patriotic song since I was a kid. And some people
Speaker 2: make fun of me for this, but to me, this song,
Speaker 2: there's nothing more American than this song. This song encapsulates
Speaker 2: what America is about. Yes, my friends, longtime listeners already
Speaker 2: know I'm talking about Yankee Rose by David Lee Roth.
Speaker 10: Why well, let me roll a buck to the sidewalk
Speaker 10: and take a look.
Speaker 3: Is whoa, whoa?
Speaker 17: She's beautiful talking about a Yankey Rose.
Speaker 3: And she loves wow Wow? Are you ready about it?
Speaker 3: The same same shine, while.
Speaker 6: Here's a shot round wild all your bathroom bosolute wearing
Speaker 6: a back of brose.
Speaker 3: Guess who's back? Answer your lay Shine.
Speaker 6: Now, I don't know what you may back way right now,
Speaker 6: He'll win, Get off the job.
Speaker 11: Go.
Speaker 3: At the beginning, says a visit done comes the couse the.
Speaker 17: Co stady, see see the shady, See sister, you're the
Speaker 17: player the t listen toes show me one line by
Speaker 17: city Light, I'm.
Speaker 6: Talking about the Yankee Roles by SETI line.
Speaker 3: I'm talking about it.
Speaker 6: When she both watch the stocks the flock while cracking
Speaker 6: up the butter.
Speaker 3: Tonight non't say song said night? Something said hell? Then
Speaker 3: at me the CANSO, I will stay fucking in their pay,
Speaker 3: saying song, bread and win. A rocking clown, still browing
Speaker 3: out his night battle fox still man.
Speaker 6: He's a basic tells to come, he said, yourself and sister,
Speaker 6: you see you seth, you see.
Speaker 3: The birthday, telling me to time, show me out trying.
Speaker 6: All right, I'm talking about the games about.
Speaker 3: Coming about with me a gay Rose. She's beautiful like
Speaker 3: I'm being like down old ye, she's down time.
Speaker 6: I'm on the case. We got the phone, no time
Speaker 6: to wist. She got the baby, and there's a little
Speaker 6: ben coming. No way.
Speaker 3: Let's see.
Speaker 10: A little bit, little bit, a little bit high. I
Speaker 10: want a little bit at.
Speaker 2: What is more American than Yankee Rose? By David Lee Roth,
Speaker 2: I ask you my favorite patriotic song.
Speaker 3: Welcome everybody.
Speaker 2: This is Matt Connorton, Unleashed and yes we are live
Speaker 2: from the studios of w m n H ninety five
Speaker 2: point three FM and Glorious man Chester, New Hampshire. Thank
Speaker 2: you again to Luke from the radio Addicts for joining
Speaker 2: us and of course coming up. In the second hour
Speaker 2: we have the Azuzins. In the third hour we have
Speaker 2: million years. And right now I'm gonna sneak this into
Speaker 2: one other patriotic thing because we have a lot of
Speaker 2: British bands on the show today, so just kind of
Speaker 2: balance things out, I'm gonna play one other patriotic thing
Speaker 2: that I do love. My favorite band Kiss, their third
Speaker 2: live album called appropriately Enough A Live three, which came
Speaker 2: out in ninety three, they would do, and I saw
Speaker 2: them on this tour on the Revenge Tour, they would
Speaker 2: do at the end of the show, the star Spangled Banner.
Speaker 2: I'm not sure why they chose that specific tour to
Speaker 2: do that, but that's how they would end the show. See,
Speaker 2: they didn't end with rock and roll all night for
Speaker 2: once on that tour. They would end with their rendition
Speaker 2: of the star Spangled banner. So this is the other
Speaker 2: thing that I kind of make it an unofficial tradition
Speaker 2: to play every year around the fourth of July, or
Speaker 2: in this case, literally on the fourth of July. Here
Speaker 2: it is from A Live three Kiss, star Spangled Banners.
Speaker 18: S.
Speaker 3: Now name what bad?
Speaker 2: So that's my favorite version. All right, Well, everybody, we
Speaker 2: are approaching the top of the hour. We gotta take
Speaker 2: a break, So some love to our amazing sponsors here
Speaker 2: at WMNH and when we come back in the second hour,
Speaker 2: the Azaesens will be with us. Stick around. We got
Speaker 2: plenty more to come.
