For for the uninitiated, let's uh, we'll start in the quarter here if you could each tell us who you are, what you do in the band, and then we'll talk about today, because today is obviously a very big day. But we'll start with you. Ed, I'm a I'm on guitar.

Welcome everybody, So we should uh well, let's talk first about what's going on tonight, and then we'll circle back and remind everybody because this is a big deal. You guys got a big show.

4:30 Speaker 2: The cool thing is is you're only allowed to I don't know if you know this. I don't know when this changed, but you're only allowed twenty two minutes per side now really, yeah, which is weird because I have some records that are longer than that.

4:43 Speaker 2: So the album barely fit. Oh maybe hadd it thirty seconds? Like none of the extra songs, like yeah, like we got three bonus tracks on the CD. Those wouldn't fit, but oh okay, the bonus tracks are just radio edit stuff. But yeah, yeah. And the other the other thing too is we're able to keep it in the sequence that it appears on, so that one's yours here.

6:44 Speaker 2: Or a couple of tracks from the first album? Yeah, you know, we want to represent because that's that album is available tonight too.

6:51 Speaker 2: Yeah, heavily on the Falling Awak stuff and then a fun cover too.

6:55 Speaker 1: Okay, okay, Now, is there anybody else on the show or is it just day to attend?

6:59 Speaker 2: And then ace there's a van called All Sinners. They'll be opening up the show. Okay, yep, they'll be there.

7:07 Speaker 4: The drummer owns purchase Street Records in New Bedford, Mass.

7:11 Speaker 1: Okay, purchase street records. It's called Yeah, okay, Killer Rock.

7:20 Speaker 3: Those guys put on a hell of a show.

7:22 Speaker 1: It's cool that there's still record stores around, you know. That's one of those things that people people have predicted would go away by now, you know, but there's there's still some and they're and they're doing a lot, you know, respectively in their local scenes.

7:35 Speaker 2: I just I started collecting vinyl, like six months ago. Oh no kidding, And I'm totally vinyl not now.

7:41 Speaker 3: Yeah, a lot of people do too.

7:43 Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah. My theory is that when people buy new vinyl, like a lot of it. We might have talked about this before, but I think a lot of people who buy brand new vinyl they never open it, like if they're really a fan, a big fan of a of an artist, that they just buy it to have it maybe, you know, maybe frame it or whatever they're going to do with it.

8:00 Speaker 3: Yeah, like Jeff's Kiss.

8:02 Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, anopened.

8:08 Speaker 2: I do open because I like to listen to it. Yeah, something about the sound, and it's awesome. Oh, nothing sounds better than vinyl. But I'm into the colored vinyl. Yeah, I almost won't buy it unless it's a colored one. But oh no kidding, I'm easing up on the colored vinyl thing.

8:23 Speaker 5: I tend to buy two copies sometimes because I want one to keep shut and then to open. And yeah, and I sometimes I have like a sign one, so like I don't want to open the sign one, I'll buy another copy.

8:33 Speaker 1: That's exactly yeah right right, yeah, no, that makes sense. Yeah, that that makes a lot of sense. I used to have uh, well, I didn't. I ended up with it. I don't know where it is now. It's probably my storage unit. But when Kiss came out with the single for Unholy back in ninety two, what a great song. Oh yeah, yeah, I have a a it's on white vinyl limited edition of just a single.

8:57 Speaker 2: Yeah, it was so cool. I remember the first time here in that song and just going. I saw the video, yeah, just going? What oh same same here?

9:07 Speaker 1: Yeah? So good, so good. What else have you guys now? Have you been playing a lot of shows or what else has been going on?

9:15 Speaker 2: As far as shows, we played pretty continuous.

9:18 Speaker 1: Yeah, like it seems like you've been busy.

9:20 Speaker 2: Yeah, we've been busy. We're starting to write work on some new music. Are you excellent? And we're up for anything. If anybody's got a good show they want us to do, let's go.

9:31 Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. Kind of is the new stuff kind of in the same vein as has Fallen Awake or.

9:36 Speaker 2: We got one new song which we got to get back to working on it because it's it's pretty awesome. Heavy, It's it's heavy. I think our new stuff is going to be pretty heavy. It's going to be heavier.

9:46 Speaker 1: I think, Oh cool, yeah, yeah, like the Falling Awake album heavy like that.

9:52 Speaker 3: Oh really, I think the one before that was it won't be like.

9:58 Speaker 2: It'll just kind of continue on what we and yet like more rocking.

10:02 Speaker 1: Yeah.

10:02 Speaker 4: So the difference between the new album and the last two albums, I think is that all the songs now are going to be collectively written by all five of us.

10:11 Speaker 2: Okay, we're doing it old school.

10:13 Speaker 4: Yeah, as opposed to like a couple of guys that have been writing like a bank of songs like Ed and Jeff, and then bringing them to the band. We're all like, he'll walk in, like Bruce will walk into the room and you know, play something, and then Ed shoots across the room like he does, Yeah, what.

10:29 Speaker 2: Was that that new song started?

10:32 Speaker 4: And then within fifteen minutes we're all, you know, playing it. Yeah, he starts coming lyrics how we wants them to go? And I miss you can't remember her name?

10:40 Speaker 2: Yeah, we used to do that back in the day, right as a band, and then yeah, things band members switching out so often that it got hard to be like, well, well we'll just work on stuff ourselves and whoever comes in can learn it, you know.

10:54 Speaker 4: But so arguably the third album is going to be the first true day to attend album.

11:00 Speaker 3: Okay from a.

11:00 Speaker 2: Certain collective perspective.

11:03 Speaker 1: Yeah, that's cool when uh, when it comes together quickly like that too. That's how you know you've got something when it just sort of organically just comes together. And yeah, yeah, I'm excited for you. Oh, thank you so much.

11:19 Speaker 1: Oh that's awesome.

11:19 Speaker 3: Yeah, back in the frame we can do.

11:21 Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll take a picture at the end and I'll hold it up. Yeah. Nice, beautiful, beautiful. Speaking of shirts too, we should mention Tom is wearing a wonderful paper Jam shirt. Uh, we've we've got to know them. We've had Chila and we love Jam. Yeah, very very cool.

11:37 Speaker 2: Yeah, very supportive of the band. Absolutely.

11:39 Speaker 1: Yeah. Last week we had on the show, not Lee Crue, the Molly Cruz. Yeah, that was a lot of fun. Yeah. We met them through paper Well, actually, well I shouldn't say we met them through paper Jam, because it turned out I knew two of the guys, but one of the guys I went to high school with. But but they didn't like it. Was kind of like they tried to keep it a surprise, like who was actually in the band, you know, because they showed up in full costume. But it was a lot. Yeah, that was a lot of fun.

12:03 Speaker 1: That was a lot of fun. Not we crew, Yeah, but yeah, Paper Jam is doing great things. Love what they're love what they're doing. Uh, you guys of course had that that big feature. That was great. Yeah, that was fantastic. Yeah, yeah, I've got that at home now. Uh who else? Uh? Who else are you playing with?

12:21 Speaker 1: What else do you have coming up? As far as after tonight? Do you have more shows booked?

12:25 Speaker 2: Or we have a March eighth at Charlie's Hill in Lebanon, Maine.

12:28 Speaker 1: That's a venue then a lot. Yeah, I've never been there, but that name comes up so much on the show Charlie's Hill.

12:35 Speaker 4: You'll never find a more friendly atmosphere and better sound than Charlie's Hill in Lloyd's.

12:43 Speaker 1: Okay, And that's oh, thank you so much. And where where is that again?

12:47 Speaker 2: So it's in Lebanon, Maine, in the middle of nowhere really yeah, And you drive in there and you're like, I'm gonna be killed and you walk in and it's like a nightclub from Boston. Oh god, it's really cool in nineteen seventy six.

13:05 Speaker 2: So once you walk in and realize you're not going to be murdered and your car is going to be buried out back, you realize this place is cool. Yeah, and we have a blast there. We just played there last weekend actually, okay, Yeah, Mike and Terry run it.

13:22 Speaker 2: Very supportive of the band that they're coming to the show tonight.

13:25 Speaker 1: Oh, very cool. Yeah, verty cool. Yeah. Everything I hear about Charlie still is is fantastic.

13:31 Speaker 2: It's great. It's good for just brocking out. Is there?

13:35 Speaker 1: Is it like kind of it sounds like it's pretty like this. Is there not any other venues around there or is that kind of?

13:44 Speaker 2: It's literally like food they they they don't serve out. They don't serve alcohol, so you can bring your own beer and we like when we can do that, right, but nothing.

13:59 Speaker 4: They got like the Yeah, sometimes they have a food truck. Yeah, magic vendors.

14:06 Speaker 2: They do a lot of death metal festivals there too, with you know, death metal bands with the logos you can't understand what it says.

14:12 Speaker 3: Yes, they have laugh love fast they do.

14:15 Speaker 2: Yeah, that's how we first were introduced to that place, playing one of those, not the death metal I was going to live fast.

14:23 Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what they do. Okay, No, it's funny. Way you were saying about the death metal bands. I've been complaining about that since the day is when I worked at when I worked at Strawberries back in the day, and i'd be putting like, you know, like some of them, like Cannibal Corpse, I could kind of read their logo, although their album covers would give me nightmares. Some of them would probably give Satan nightmares. But but yeah, a lot of the logos like you can't even read them, and it's like, I don't I've never understood, like from a branding in market, like why would you do that?

14:48 Speaker 2: And then when you see the poster with fifty of them together, like, oh my god, like the brain is gone.

14:54 Speaker 1: You're right right, yeah, no, it's uh yeah, it's it's pretty wild. So you've got yeah, so you've got Charlie's Hill. And then I imagine like once we get into spring, you'll be playing a lot, playing a lot more.

15:06 Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, we're kind of putting the feelers out there. We'd like to try. We want to get into some new venues, some new areas.

15:17 Speaker 3: The Looney Bin.

15:20 Speaker 4: Was that the Battle of the Bands where we won two spots for both Full Throttle?

15:24 Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, we'll be playing there in the summer, right, we have one guld do one show there is that we're doing.

15:30 Speaker 3: Yeah, I think they give us two shows for bike week.

15:32 Speaker 2: Yeah, where we won the battle band? Yeah?

15:36 Speaker 1: Where was that? Okay? Where you want?

15:41 Speaker 2: Is it the Full Throttle Saloon? Is that what it's called?

15:48 Speaker 2: You guys aren't playing.

15:57 Speaker 2: But we're open for business. I mean, yeah, well we should. We like sharing stuff with bands, so we're up for anything.

16:12 Speaker 2: I mean, we'll open for somebody, we'll close for you, we'll play in the middle. We just like to play. Yeah.

16:18 Speaker 1: Yeah, I should ask you too about so falling Awake? Where was that? I'm sure we talked about this last time you were here, But for those who are hearing you for the first time, where was that recorded? Because or oh, that's right. I remember now it's coming back to me.

16:32 Speaker 2: I was basically my basement in our jam space.

16:35 Speaker 1: I remember being surprised because it sounds like it was done at a million dollar recording studio.

16:40 Speaker 2: It really does, thank you because I spent a lot of time on that. So yeah, free to hear.

16:45 Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, what about the mastering, I do that too, You do that too? Yeah? Wow, yeah, it's it just sounds so good. Yeah.

16:51 Speaker 2: I tried paying people to master and I get them back and I'm like, I can do this better myself. So oh, no kidding, I just do it. I just do it. I mean to send it to the guys and then you know, they give me the yep it's good, and then yeah, then they usually mess with it some more and then try again.

17:09 Speaker 2: I just get to that point where I know it's done.

17:11 Speaker 1: Yeah. You have a talent for it, though, if you if you recorded other bands or mastered other bands.

17:17 Speaker 2: So I've I've done mastering for other bands. I've been asked to record for other bands. But the thing is is like I couldn't, like, like it would be too expensive, like a dollar fifty a Yeah, it was like, you know, like it's like for the time you got to make some money for it, but the time that I put into something because I want it to be quality, right, it just wouldn't benefit like it would benefit the band. But then i'd really be working for like pennies.

17:49 Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean it's more like a labor love thing. Like you're already you're so attached to the Yeah.

17:53 Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, it's like I would love to record bands, but yeah, it would just take it if I could do it for a job, and that's all I had to do. Yeah, sure, let's go.

18:04 Speaker 1: Right right, Yeah, no doubt.

18:06 Speaker 1: He was like I said, you definitely have a talent for it. Did that happen with Falling Away? You mentioned you've you've sent things out to others to master and not not been happy with it.

18:16 Speaker 2: Did you do that with Falling awakere But this was like the other you know, like older Oh okay, yeah that I did that. I tried some Yeah, I tried a Berkeley person once.

18:26 Speaker 1: Oh really yeah.

18:27 Speaker 2: It was horrible sounding. I'm like it was really low. I'm like, dude, he's I have a little like it so quiet? Oh, that's industry standard, he said. I go, no, it's not industry standard. Is cranking. Yeah, and then he sent it cranking and it was all distorted, and I'm like, I'm done. You're just like you're mocking me now Yeah. Yeah, Well I.

18:47 Speaker 1: Guess he's a student for a reason. Yea. Hopefully hopefully eventually figured oh we.

18:51 Speaker 2: Got better at it.

18:52 Speaker 3: He got his money back.

18:54 Speaker 1: Yeah, no kidding, But I like doing it. Yeah, yeah, no, that's that's great. Like I said, everything sounds so good, very professional.

19:02 Speaker 2: It's a double edged sword because it's like I can do it myself, but like sometimes I just takes do it. It takes so long to do it because I'm so picky. But then on the other end, I don't have to pay somebody this huge money to do it.

19:17 Speaker 1: Was continuous bloom downe all the same same thing. Yeah, yeah, right in the basement.

19:23 Speaker 3: Of the reasons why we put up with this boloney.

19:25 Speaker 2: Yeah, you want a record, you play with me.

19:33 Speaker 3: There you go.

19:33 Speaker 1: Well that's a pretty good selling point. You know, make yourself.

19:36 Speaker 2: But I would love to record of the bands. I just don't. It's a time issue. Yeah, and then i'd have to charge too much right right, ask these guys that Jesus Jeff, you sent us a track at one a m. Don't you got to get up for work?

19:50 Speaker 1: Yep?

19:51 Speaker 2: But I got up.

19:52 Speaker 1: Yeah, So caffeine's for right sleeping. I'm dead, So I know we're on. You guys are on a tight schedule because you got to get to uh, you got to get up to Portland. We get it roll Yeah, yeah, no, I'm I'm excited for you though. This is a great opportunity and if you are just joining in a day to attendants here with us in studio. They are opening tonight for Ace Frehley at the Aura. Yeah, and where direct support for Ace. Yeah, that means we go on right before him. That's fantastic.

20:21 Speaker 2: I gotta say I've been waiting since nineteen seventy eight for this moment.

20:25 Speaker 1: Yeah, when I first got in the kiss no kidding, Yeah, Yeah, that's very good.

20:29 Speaker 3: All comes to a head tonight.

20:31 Speaker 2: That's like your hero, Yeah it is?

20:33 Speaker 1: Yeah? Is he? Is he? Here? Is he what got you into playing guitar? Exactly? No kidding? Rock? Yeah, Yeah, it's funny. I saw an interview with him once, this wasn't long ago, where he said something about if he knew he was going to be such an influence on people, he would have practiced more. Yeah, because from a tech from a purely technical standpoint, he's not the greatest. But obviously, you know, Kiss is my favorite band, so I get it. It's not about he's got that. It's a feel he has when he plays.

21:04 Speaker 1: And just like I was saying, Tom, he doesn't have the he's not a great singer, but he just has a cool voice, right, you know. Yeah, and it's just like that's ace and it's like almost like cheesy kind of sounding.

21:18 Speaker 2: So amazing. Yeah, his new album ten Thousand Volts is fantastic.

21:24 Speaker 1: Yeah, it is really good. I like it a lot. I like it a lot. Yeah, And he's the ultimate rock star to me growing up, you know. Yeah, And he's got such a weird the way he picks, Yeah, the way he just pick it so strange. I've seen very few I feel like I've seen other guitar players who pick the way he does, but not many of them, you know what I mean. Yeah, like very very unusual, very unusual approach. But uh so, will we'll let you guys go in a minute. And of course we got to get a picture with with this wonderful, wonderful stuff that you brought.

22:37 Speaker 2: He's literally going to be sent like we they sent us an hour by hour schedule for tonight. Okay, he's literally going to be soundchecking when we load in and then we get an hour soundcheck, which is crazy.

You guys, you guys, are you guys have earned I agree, you guys have worked very hard. You've earned this opportunity. Nice, thank you and yeah, it's true. Yeah, we appreciate that.
