Field Dispatch
Matt Connarton Unleashed: The Jerritones
We've got as promise. We have a couple of musicians here in studio with
us. The Jaritones are here. Hey, hey, all right, I'm
gonna we gotta kind of check check the mics on the fly here. So,
um, why don't you guys kind of introduce ourselves. Tell us your
name is, what you do in the group and whatnot. Now I'll help
make sure everything's coming through here. Yeah. Well, oh he's got no
signal? Are we go? Oh wait, hang on there we go?
Oh hey, what's going on? I know we were there somewhere. Um,
so, my name's Jack, I'm one of the halves of the Jaritones
here, and my name's Eban. I take care of the other half.
Yeah. So it's a very equal part to ship. Yeah, we all
chip in. Yeah. Yeah, and you guys have an unusual setup.
Do you want to tell us a little bit about with the lap This is
kind of a first Actually this is kind of a joke, isn't it.
But yeah, we got a little back and track going on. It keeps
the draw machine down. Yeah, it's like our robot third member and then
we're the two humans is keeping it in line. Yeah, Robots of the
future anyways. So we're just trying to get ahead of that. Right,
it's soon, we're it's just gonna take over for us and it'll be just
the laptop, right, well, it is, uh is all inevitable.
I suppose that's what I'm thinking. Anyway, let's see. Um okay,
why can you play something on the U or is it easy to play something
on the computer resolutely without without actually starting? I just want to make sure.
I just want to make sure we're go ahead and start a song.
I'm sure it'll be fine, and I can boost it. Let me give
you I can give you a little count in see if that sounds good.
Yeah, yeah, man, I just want to make sure that I heard
it in the headphones. Yeah I heard that too. Okay, up a
little bit, all right. I think I think we're in working order here.
Yeah, okay, all right, that's great, all right, great,
all right, we're ready to tear into it. So, uh,
first song, right, first song? Songs about being in love? Yeah,
I wrote this back when I was ripe age of sixteen years old.
We were like eighteen or something. We weren't really it was, well,
it was like sixteen, all right. It's called I'm in love all right.
The Jeritones live in studio. A Ben, you never thought a bad
love song? Don't re flame it? Yeah, not wrong. I must
admit I neverming bowking hut in. That's why I'm being a rust to get
it started. I will the ideal opening and then by mind open mind.
You know I see them every day, Chocolate's kisses, holding up boot can
can't someone sweep me up my feet and take us away so we can retreat?
I make myself seem crazy. I already know the idea is hazy.
The reason I believe is because I had so much the game. I knew
it is rushing ome, but I didn't. You should explain. I mean
of being mine, mean well, being in mind? Me in mind will
be mine mine me baby. You guys sound great, Thanks man. If
you're just joining us, we've got the Jeritones here in studio, Jack and
Eben. Is that easy? Yeah, that's right. That been like ebony
kind of ironic since we're both stark wife. That's right, that's a Yeah,
that's an unusual name. I've never I've never met an ebbing creative with
that one. Yeah, is it short? I tell restaurants over the phone
that it's Evan and that's just that's easier. Yeah, yeah, no,
I can imagine and purpose. That's Jack was asking though. That's a good
question. Is it short for eben eas not at all? Just e that's
the assumption usually. Yeah, yeah, no, I like it. That's
it's cool. It's cool. I don't think his parents ever read the Christmas
story. That pass more obscure stuff. Yeah, hey, do you want
to sing that song about soup? Oh yeah, we get a song about
soup. We want to play for you guys. This is this is very
appropriate. We had I don't know if you guys know Ricky Mapleton. He
was on the show recently and he really he's got all these songs about food,
songs about recipes and stuff. So yeah, we love we love writing
love songs about food. Man, and you gotta in your shirt has a
big chocolate chip cookie. Yeah, so I got this bad Boy in Colorado.
Yeah, it's important. It's that kind of cookie. I understand even
better better, all right, let's hear it. The Jertones are here with
us in studio. They get a song about soup, all right, someone,
it's called thirty two Fresh City. Way Gonna take it away right now.
Absolutely, how you doing? Hey? Uh is this your soup shot?
Man? Yeah? Okome? Uh so uh what do you guys serve
here? Let me tell you a little about it. So you got you
got soup back there. Yeah, that's kind of our specialty. Oh okay,
so you got like cups pulls, yep, that sort of thing.
More importantly, we fill it all with soup. Oh yeah, yeah,
altful doesn't get as full as you want. Man, do you want me
to fetch you a bowl? Oh yeah, ain't that's something you lantils and
pea. Ain't that it soup? Oh that's something you tomatoes, potatos,
everything under the sun? All right? So does that give you an idea?
Wow? So you guys got like a lot of stupid guy guys.
Well yeah, that's kind of what I was trying to get across. Oh
okay, so you guys got like chicken, new so bone bro, Italian
wedding, Irish dream, all of that good stuff. You know, we
get one of everything, study too, lentils and you please ain't nut it.
That's up by you, Tomatos potatus, everything under the sun. All
right? Oh man, just se liking when I'm picking up what I'm putting
down. Oh yeah, I'm liking it all right. It looks like over
the horizon, I see a storm brewing. It looks like a shiny bowl
of soup over the horizon, a hurricane soup, a tsunami soup. Oh
look at this. The radio station room is filling up with soups. Oh
my goodness, we're neck deep in soup right now. Let me tell you,
ain't donea two my soup for you, ain't gonna two? What a
freshwo for you? Eight thta two, eight thirty two, eight thirty two
with a fresh I said, eight thirt two, eight thirty two, ain't
gonna two with a fresh I do? Eight th two? What you're gonna
do? E can't do? What's you gonna do? Eight thirty two,
eight thirty two? What you're gonna do when the food compute ain't tht two?
Eight thirt two? What you're gonna do with the super comfute? Ain't
got two at the two? Ain't gonna do what you're gonna do? Baby?
What are you gonna I'll tell you, ain't dirt in two, bristo,
plentils and peace, ain't done in two. That's so bad you ain't
done in two the Funky supid. No, that's right, fantastic, fantastic,
Thank you if you're just joining us. The Jaritones are here with us
live in studio, and uh, this is really cool. You guys are
one of the more unique artists that we found on the show. And I
like it. Oh, well, thank you very much. Yeah, yeah,
I dig it. What what where does the name come from? By
the way, is there a meaning behind the name of the assumption? Usually,
but I think the answer is a resounding no. Well, I I
have a theory that I that I like to tell people, So I think
I think it came from when we were just joking around and we were talking
about band names, and uh, I was thinking about the Baritones, and
I was like, oh, everyone likes the Baritones. What about his brother
the Jeritones. Oh that was it. Yeah. I thought the name Jerry
just sounded funny. I mean it does. That has a lot We were
going to call ourselves Jerry's kids. That's the name of an actual like um
like benefit program or something for like people with some sort of condition. We
didn't want to use that. Yeah, he probably ended up to steer clear
end up trademark issues with that. Yeah, yeah, we almost ended up
with trademark issues with jar at all. But yeah, yeah we elderly medication
right right now? Has it always been just the two of you? Because
I thought I saw a picture online with three people. We did have a
third, We had a third. Um he decided to get a life,
so we wish him. Well, that was soup for him. Yeah,
he's welcome to h he wants to come by. He can't get soup whenever
he want. He's just not making it anymore. He's not. I got
you. So it was amicable, man. So he's so allowed to come
by. Oh yeah, yeah. He actually wrote one of the songs off
of our new album, Monkey Habitat he helped write with Boston to Bengus,
Yeah we have that. Don't tell him, it'll be a surprise. I
mean, maybe exactly what I just said. Forget exactly what I just said,
right right? All right? How about another kind of love song here.
Let's keep the love, Let's keep the love, Let's keep the love
rolling, keep the love flowing, all right? This is about a very
special woman's sort of This one's uh, this one's called Bernie m M.
I know I they can't have Banny. When her lips touched, they bun
me. Her head is red like defire. She turns my heart into it
byer. She's got the BASTI batty green light those fairsky. When I see
her, I fly with. When I see her, I buy with?
Why when I see her? I fly with? I want to love you?
How day? How day? I know? I they call her money.
She's a real life. Why you hurt me? She's like the sun
on the earth. She'll take your brother joel you. She moves just like
a golden You make it so hard to me. When I I see her,
I fly with. When I I see her, I fly awa whare
When I I see her, I fly with. I want to love you?
Halt halt when my heart when that it sound? Cause you b it
doesn't mind that A long you had my heart and stuck it a long.
Oh my darling, I'm gonna be a wrong. Oh I know it's wrong.
Oh my darling, How gonna we be so wrong? How could we
be so long? Ah? Man, I got a little heavy. I
was kind of heavy. I feel like you just let some demons out.
Yeah that's that's good. But let's get back to the verse. Lighten it
up three. I know I they call her bunny because she had to a
going to hunt me. All that just left now is turning with a dull
sensession of burning. She moved me into blinding lights. Now she leaves me
cold dark night. When I see her, I fly with When when nicey
huh bye? When? Where when nicey huh bye? When when I don't
want to love you? No where, no where? And now you know
very nice. That is Bernie from the Jeritones who are with us live in
studio Bernie nine, by the way, always forward. Of course, Sam
Beechard is in the Facebook live chat. He says, love me some Jaritones,
come see them on July twenty ninth at the Strand in Dover us that
show. Yeah, thank you man, We owe you your life. Yeah,
we are so excited for that show. Definitely, if you don't have
plans that day, come on down to the Strand Theater. Even if you
do, I mean cancel, yeah if you if we really mean anything to
you, you'll We need it. We need this one. We Yeah,
the attention and everything. So Sam is great. So you've worked with him
before, Well, he booked us a few shows out of the blue that
we were like externally grateful for that. We didn't even deserve. We hadn't
been doing anything for a while. And then he just kind of reached out
and we were like, yes, sir, yes, sir, So we're
very grateful, thank you. Sammy. Um, we have a song here
about air travel. Oh, very very topical. Yeah, yes, yeah,
about that airline Jack Jack. I just thought of this. We can't
swear. We have to say freaking okay, and we have to say we
have to say freaking jerk okay instead of the other thing. Okay, we're
gonna say that you got that, got it? Yeah, we're we are
on an eight second delay, so if the worst happens, I can catch
it. But yeah, I just but you want to just we're gonna we're
to okay, Okay, heard one. It's a good one. Boston A

got the Jaritones here with us live in studio and uh yeah, Jenny just
got back today from Washington, DC. She almost thought she was gonna be
stuck there until Friday. So the airline industry is having a lot of products.
Got back from Ohio. I was at punkin trouble want seeing no effects
on lest and geeke, oh no kidding? How was it? I was
good. It gave me a refresher and how much I hate air travel and
how much I don't want to do it again. Yeah. Yeah. Oh
by the way, Sam and the chat room from Always Forward said you're welcome,
my dudes. Not many bands can truly be described as original anymore,
so keep doing you, thank you can be described as the Jaritones either,
that's right for us. How do you guys describe what you do like?
If somebody asks you, hasn't heard minimally yeah, I try to avoid describing.
Yeah. I like to say that we were a silly rock band,
a silly little rock band, because I really do genuinely believe that there's a
lack of silliness and modern music today. Yeah, Like I think it's all
way too serious and got a goof around. Yeah, we're just we're just
trying to goof around. Where's where's the goof? Yeah? Remember that ad
campaign? Remember that? Yeah? All right, Hey, we want to
sing about a high school friend of ours. Okay, and by friend we
mean enemy, enemy arch enemy. Oh okay, this one. This next
one's called Fauna Stuck dies tonight. He's okay with this, Okay, okay,
And this isn't a legally binding death thread, but not at all.
F DG. Here it comes. He came from a Laskoy's name is Jacob.
He's got a lot of friends, but I don't really like him.
He's six foot five and he drives to damn. Now, let me tell
you why I hate that man. F DG tripped me off the floor on
the way to the store. He took my Davin card and got in his
card. He drove to a secret place I would never find. And that's
why I want him to die. FDT Dona Stock dies tonight, gonostop Dieto
Stock dies tonight, FNA stop he's gonna die tonight, Sicko. He dies
tonight, sick He's all out a light chick He's gonna pay chicken die.
Hold on, hold on, hold on, Well, the owner of a
priestly step outside, Jacob. That means you it's time to die, all
right? Did I tell you about the time that he stole my wife?
Don't swear on this one, or how about the time he betne high?
But I heard he's in trouble with the irs. He's wanted for arson in
seven states. Fftt gonta stock dice to night bistock dies banu stock dice tonight
finastock. He's gonna die tonight. Chio he dies tonight. Checkop. He's
all out of line. Chake up. He's gonna face chicken dies Chakeob.
He's a cool cool man now, chicko. Tho she died, chicko,
he's gotta pay somehow. I don't know why, and I don't know how.
But he died. He died, but not legally. Dad. Very
nice, gentlemen, Thank you, very well done, very well. More
truthful version. There probably was a time when Jacob fed you pie versus he
did. He did feed me dog food too. Actually, oh my goodness,
I can see why you would want him to die. I mean not
really of course. Oh no, no, no, no, no really
not right right, Mariam Banish says on that the previous song there, she
says, they did a great job of replacing the sweares. Also like the
goofing around vibe. Thank you so much. I tell you, where's the
goof? She found the goof? She found it, she pointed it out.
Even, yeah, excellent. Who are you? Can you guys tell
me a little bit about influences. I'm wondering, like, um, okay,
Ween Different huge huge influence. Yeah, we both like Ween Devo huge
influence. A lot of like eighties rock groups. That's like, but you're
bad. You like the older stuff. I I like to go way back.
I go. I go back as far as like some of the fifties
stuff like Chuck Berry, Marty Robbins. Jack brings all the folk to the
table and then he's you got the punkin Scott. Yeah, yeah exactly,
and that that comes together to make a nice broth. I have an insufferable
love for electric guitars and brass sections. There you go, there you go?
Oh yeah, Jack, you reminded me to a little bit of on
that last song of Fred Schneider from the B fifty twos. Oh, thank
you, yeah, the B fifty two. Sorry got when he got that
comparison from my mom about five years ago. Yeah, you were right you
writing that song. Yeah, the bedroom when is great Peter White from the
Morning Show. That's like his favorite band. And that's the giant. That's
the giant cardboard Peter whitehead in the corner there, hey man. And he
also loves ween In addition to actual Peter White looking smile at me with a
the watercolor smile, yea crilic or whatever. He likes to sit in with
all the bands. Well that well, thank you for sitting in. And
you've got great taste. I've been staring at your giant head this whole time.
Yes, it's filling me with hope and ambition. Makes me want to
sing this song we got. It's about a working at a fry cook job.
This is about a fry cook job. It's called frying. We've all
been there. Oh boy, yep. No matter what you do, no
matter what you're saying, it's happening in today. Don't flip, don't fall,
but don't quit you keep on trying, trying, keep on crying,
keep on cry. Squitch your crying, scut your cry, Low Panchip,
don't stop, no fright, quitch your crying, squt your Marya and not
dying. You're not try. Keep on crys, keep on try, Low
pan Chip, don't stop, no fright co y'all eighty six ten ers,
and it's a clue. I need rice going downs the sweet ash on the
flood. As long as you fry, you're not gonna die. As long
as you try, you're not gonna prize. Long as you try, you're
not Don't stop, don't fall, don't quit. You got a job,
do it. You keep on trying. He keep on crying, You keep
on pryers. Quit your lying, just quit your lying, Low pan Shot,
don't stop, no fricer, quit your cryings, put your lying and
not dying. You're not dying. Just keep on pryers, keep on Friday,
low pand job, don't sup no fricer right now, pay job,
don't stop, no friker. Can I get a burger? I quit?
I quit, not my job. I like that song because until you get
to the end, of course, it seems like it really encourages a strong
work ethic. You know, keep on frying, keep on trying. But
at a certain point, at a certain point. But you see, the
burger is that's not the fried. It's mightier than the sword. I thought
you were gonna get the burger. He is mightier than the sword. Yes,
it's a better to reach the heart through a burger than through a sword.
That's the that's an old fry cook. Keep prop to keep clipping this
mic. I sound like the guy from the Strokes up to eleven. If
you're us joining us, we've got the jaritones here with us in studio.
Eban and Jack are here. Who you guys are amazing? Thank you.
We're so happy to be here. This is awesome. You trust us to
play another good one? I do? Wow? Oh yeah, you got
a good one. This is a song about trust, all right. I
trusted you. The Son's a cover from mister Andy Kaufman. Now we wrote
this. I trusted you. I trusted you. I trusted you. I
trusted you. I trusted you. I trusted you. I trusted you.
I trusted you. I trusted you. I trusted you. I trusted you.
I trusted you. I trusted you. I trusted you who. I
trusted you. I trusted you, I trusted you, I trusted you,
I trusted you, I trusted you, I trusted you, I trusted you,
I trusted you, I trusted you. I trust you. Thank you,
Thanks did you? I trusted you, I trusted you, and I
trusted you. And I trusted you, and I trusted you, and I
trusted you, and I trusted you, and I trusted you. And I
trusted you, and I trusted you, and I trustin you, and I
trusted you. I trusted you, I trusted you, and I trusted you,
and I trusted you, and I trusted you, and I trusted you.
I truntinue and I trusted you. I trusted you, I trusted you,
I trusted you, I trusted you, I trusted you, I trusted
you, I trusted you, I trusted you, I trusted you. Did
you really? I did not cool? I trusted you, I trusted you,
I trusted you, I trusted you, I trusted you, I trusted
you, I trusted you, and I trusted you. I trusted you,
I trusted you, I trust did you. I trusted you. I just
what I trusted. I just did what. I just did it. I
trusted you, what I trusted you, I trust did what I trust?
Did? I just trusted? I trusted you. I trusted you what I
trusted you? I trust you. I trusted you, and I trusted you.
I trusted you trust did you trusted you? And I trusted you,
and I trusted you, and I trusted you, and you thank you?
Very good, very good. Trust? Is that what that's called? Or
I trusted you, I trusted you, It's called I trusted you. Yeah.
It's a song about the thing you just lost in us trust trust.
It's very catchy, very catchy. Jenny is in the chatroom and says,
loving this. Oh yeah, I'm glad. She's thinking any absolutely. Uh
so, Hue the gecko has a question. Ok, yes, he says,
uh do you purpose purposefully switch from West coast East coast styles? First
song was West dream pop, then East Soup, then West punk reggae,
then East Ska, then West psych pop, and then East punk. We
wrote a psych pop song. You're gonna have to tell us what that was.
M I try to keep that out out of our out of our discos.
We don't usually look at the compass too much. Composing my own one
also soup East coast, I mean shower right fine? Oh yeah, good
point, Yeah, John Bealaia wasn't made here, was it? That was
somewhere else? Now that I think that's yeah, that's Knowlins in the quarter.
You had to pick a Carnel direction. I guess it's east, isn't
it. Yeah? Well, shoot, I don't know, man, what's
his name, like Gumby the Gecko or I don't know? Oh no,
oh no, oh, you're thinking of Gumbo because you're thinking of Knowlins.
No, no, you were the gecko. He's gonna be here. He's
gonna be here Friday. Actually, yeah, sorry, man, I he'll
tune in. I didn't know that you. Oh yeah, he got your
name. He's amazing. Yeah he does that a lot. Thank you so
much. I'm bad with names. It's not it's you, it's not me.
I mean another way. This one's about. This one's actually about a
true story. This one's a true story. In college, a man showed
up to work in our septic system and he was on our front lawn for
a very long time and we were staring at him at the window, and
we wrote a song about him. And he doesn't know our names. Or
likenesses, or probably that the song exists. It's just some so that so
standing the man this goes out to you. Yeah, all right. It's
called man on the lawn. The jaritones there's a man on my lawn,
and I don't know what to do. There's a man on my lawn,
and I don't know what to do. My lord, my lord, my
lord, my god, my lord, my lord, my lord, my
love. How's it going on my front lawn? I didn't send you an
invitation? What you doing in the backyard? In the garden with the noose?
There's a man of the line. There's a man on the line.
There's a man of my line. What's he doing? Ut down? There
is a man of my line. There's a man of my lord. There's
a man of my lord? What's he doing out there? All right?
I can tell that you think you're smart because you're standing on my property.
You know, I've gotten nice grass, nice grass. That's you can say
if you want. I don't care, Hey, man, let me ask
you something. Can't ask me something real quick? What's up? Do you
care? Wait? Let wait ask me? Actually? I mean yeah,
that will give me time to think of my answer. Yeah, do you
care? No, you don't care that there's a god? No, no,
no, I don't even at all. I think that was my answer
too. I just wanted to make sure. Yeah, but do you want
to write whole sorry about it's just in case, just in case we care?
Yeah, yeah, well yeah, let's do it. We go somewhere.
There's a man on my lane. There's a man of my land.
There's a man on by law. What's he doing out there? There's a
man of my love. There's a man on my lawn. There's a man
on by lawn. What's he doing out there? There's a man on my
lawn. There's a man on my law. There's a man on my lawn,
and what's he doing out there? There's a man on by law.
Then's a man on there's a man on my lawn. What's he doing out
there? That's my favorite so far? Thank you? All right? That's
that's one of my coast? Was that because that was definitely East coast.
I think you think Hue cannot tell us Hue again, what's gonna be Hue?
Now? That that one is my very very catchy thank you. Really,
that's one of them. I think my second favorite, my favorite.
Uh, there's definitely Boston the Bengus. Yeah, yeah, that's a good
one. I made you like a SKA song. I made you like,
I made you like if you're just joining us, what's happened one day?
The jaritones are here and lie this is this is? This is great?
Yeah yeah, it's great to be here. Yeah, thank you guys.
Yeah, this song is about I can't read the song title. Hold on,
Oh yeah, get in there. Oh I know what this one is.
Oh yeah, this one's about a little figurine that we got. It's
about a monkey statue that brings good luck. It's called monkey figurine, something
like this. It goes exactly like this. Actually, I got this breakfast
on the teaber. Those leaves are blowing in the breeze. I got this
beat up KEI you CenTra, I got a super room. I got this
monkey figuring who a little blastolo sigarrilla making all my dreams come true true.
Just make a wishing way a year or two and maybe more, and he'll
have something there for you. Who I am the monkey and disperses time and
you're not distrilled because it was setting a rise. That's right, and I
will tell you the truth of my flowers. Shut a little monkey if you
give me two East payments, tiny monkey nine, I can't be grant you
wish well, a little bunky, as Lumby said, you want tuning into
budget of two payments of fifteen ninety nine. I got this money in the
budger bult just passing overhead, be standing on my poison navy tail. The
sky came in or whatever's come in next. Don't come around looking for no
trouble. You don't want none of this. Sometimes it smacks you in the
see. But I gotta clearhead, sweet spot in the jungle when I got
this monkey figuring. Yeah, and maybe if you're looking for like some example
like wishes like you can wish for life, match spots, a book of
matches to get dad some dunkee daughter speak gets noted you out of the way.
Um, I can pick you up for six back. Listen to this,
like all right, tell him it's gonna be all right. I think
it's gotta be all right. I think it's gotta be all right. I
