in the sun. I can tell you the absolutely the humidity. The humidity
is a killer. There's no place that'd rather be than right here at this
desk. Nice. Well, it is the news desk, after all,
it's very prestigious. It's not you guys. That's just I just want the
desk. That's fair. That is a nice check. The same thing about
this chair is like all right, yeah, yeah, the chairs okay,
but the desks, the news desk is the best. The desk is the
best. I would sleep on my desk for sure. Yeah, I'd sleep
under that desk. We'll see what happens after the desk where Kyle goes under
the desk. What song we're playing right way? Yeah? Yeah, yeah,
this is the song my brother wrote. Check out his band Sonny Rude.
Uh for you bro, It's so black time. I'm gonna talk up

The try combs are here everybody, if you're just joining us. Dank
Sinatra in the ed chat room. Of course, I helmed by our friend.
Fredo says, we here at dank Sinatra fully approve of this try Coombs
transmission. Yes, yes, Uh, Nate Pajari says tell Ian. Nate
says, what's up? All right? So these guys have everybody's playing differentness
from it? Sound very cool. Well, I'm not everybody, not everybody,
but to two people, very good. So you guys got what do
you have? One more? Yeah? Alright, So these guys are gonna
play one more and then we're gonna we're gonna talk for a bit. But
uh guess, all right, whenever, whenever, you guys are ready cowboys
struck not cowboys all right, just got into town, my horse, it's
time to get down saloon door swinging as a brown and I don't hear the
sound the chair of boxing. You know why he gott and it's with him.
Tell me it's sin spend the way to win. I'm spending my mancause
I'm a cowboy and I'm dancing across the wild wild wins and I'm dancing to
be wearing pantsul a dress. I guess I'm a cowboy and I'm dancing across
the wild biss. When I'm dancing, I could be wearing and so dress.
I'm a sharing thing. I stand over bookings, a dancing man,
and I'm shared of those things I don't understands. Guess I'm a share rithing.
I stand up bookings and dancing, and I'm far those things. I
don't under dame sharing, free love or freezy. I don't go in a
line, you know, wheel. I saw the seals muscreen stuff the time,
but it doesn't take the deal. I'm a cowboy and I'm dancing across
the wild wild West. When I'm dancing, I could be wearing and so
dress because I'm a cowboy and I'm dancing across the wild wild Miss. When
I'm dancing, I could be wearings. I'm a cowboy and I'm dancing across
the wild wild Wins. When I'm dancing, I do be wearing dance so
dreams us. I'm a cowboy and I'm dancing across the wild wild wings.
When I'm dancing, I could be wearing so dream Yeah, very nice,
very nice. The try combs everybody, We're gonna take a quick break and
then we're gonna we're gonna talk with these guys so there is more to come.
Don't go anywhere. And of course we have with us in studio the
try Combs, who just did a killer set for us and really appreciate it.
Guys, you sound amazing, Thank you. That was fun. Absolutely
absolutely. Now let's let's start with you, sir. Can you each tell
us your names and what you do in the band. I'm Stefan. I'm
the front man. I guess I'm that guy. But I played a guitar
and sing and then Shane and I will switch and I'll play drums and I'll
take Ian's bass sometimes just for a song. Yeah, yeah, that's what
I do. You know, it's it's a good time. We like it,
okay, all right, and you sir, I'm Ian. I played
bass and synthesizer. Okay. Stefan also like books all of our shows.
He forgot to mention that he's great and records all of our songs. Well
yeah, he does every cool. Cool, that's good, that's good.
I do that. I didn't want to talk myself up too much. I
understand, very humble. Nothing wrong with that. You show the desk,
dude right to come here, come and take the death, you know,
sure, sure, sure, I thought we were there, but all right,
and you my name is Eric Sobzinski and I play guitar in the band.
Is that it? Because everybody else does like a million different things.
You just played guitar. Oh and you singes sing I've been trying out on
other instruments so slowly, Betroy, Yes, yeah, I don't have me
on other things. At point we gotta can you can you pull that mic
up closer? Yeah, just having a little trouble. Uh, I'm glad.
Oh there we go. Yeah, and finally you, sir, I'm
Shane. I'm predominantly drumming, but the rest of the time I'm singing playing
guitar. Very good, very good. Yeah, that was a surprise to
see you guys switch instruments. But that's uh, that's cool. Um,
how long have you guys been around? How long has uh the try Combs
been a band? As a band has existed since twenty fourteen. Um,
so we're almost in the ten year mark. But this crew of of homies
has been about three is shears? Yeah? Yeah, we're missing one our
keyboardist. He's uh he teaches piano. Oh okay, he had to teach
piano, you know. Yeah, yea, his job, you know,
other than being in the band, right, Yeah, he does come to
the gigs. That's that's what matters. That's good. Yeah, that's the
important thing. Um, where does the name come from? The try combs?
What does that mean? It's the hairs on plants. Oh okay,
if you look up try coombs you'll see a bunch of weed. But you'll
also see that in Latin it means hairs. So I was actually like touching
a tomato plant. I was like, hmm, that smells good. Why
is that? Technically it's slowing down transpirations, so when air is going over
the plant, it is releasing less, losing less of its water to the
air through its leaves and it helps it stay hydrated. Oh, it's all
like science hydrated with tunes. Just do with that. And I mean,
I mean, we grow CBD. So if anybody needs any check out New
Hampshire hamp COO. Yeah, it's pretty it's pretty cool. So you have
an actual company, yeah, that company. Yeah, we're license to the
state and everything CBD flower and tinctures. Yeah, we sell it out our
gigs. Wow. Wow, are you guys all all of you do that
together? Or Eric does his own thing with with the real stuff, but
you know where it's legal, right yeah? Yeah? Is that? Um,
how much of a hassle is it to set something like that up in
the state? Is it is a difficult It's not terribly difficult other than just
doing like a background check and now you're supposed to say it's super difficult.
Nobody else for one of the only Hampshire's definitely not many. There's there's thirteen
licenses out or something, but oh wow, it's it's not profitable. I
wouldn't I wouldn't tell you anybody should do it. Really, there you go.
It's smart, but it's cool. No musician just plays music like they
got some side hustles right right, gigs every day. It's like, yeah,
man, I'll just be on the side of the street, be really
hot right now. When you guys, Um, when you play out,
do the songs change because it seems like the way the way your music is,
you know, it kind of lends itself to that you can kind of
experiment and improvise. I would think is there a lot of that with the
with your songs the structure stays mostly the same, but we definitely don't play
the same like solos or jam sections. Yeah, and sometimes we'll add like
different teases of different songs, different covers or something in there, funny little
things. Sometimes we'll take a song and split it in half and then take
two songs to them together. Yeah, and then we'll play them at completely
different parts. So then all sudden you're like, wait, is it that
song again? You know, right right, It's like every show is not
the same, because otherwise we'd be boring, you know, yeah, yeah,
I get bored. Yeah, we have to play the song, so
we have to continue to trying to make new music and add new parts of
the performance every time. You know. Yeah, that makes sense. Um,
So you guys must be able to like do do full nights, like
do do like three hour shows at places. There's some of that, but
like a lot of the times festivals so we're just yeah, they'll be like,
hey, come play this festival, and then the next weekend they're like,
hey, we have another festival. And then eventually after the past like
five years has gone by, we're like literally playing every festival that happens.
Yeah, yeah, Northeast at least, you know, what, do we
have like eight weeks in a row for the next couple. Yeah, we're
not wow, weekend off for a while, but you know it could be
worse. Yeah, I could have to work at my real job. Right,
Yeah, there you go, there you go. Um, So when
you're not obviously the summertime, there's a lot of festivals. What about the
rest of the year. Do you guys stay pretty busy or do you ever
have points in the year where you're not as busy. It's like the winners
kind of like, let's record, so like you have a home studio,
we have more time. We take time to record or right on tour,
you know, so we'll tour for usually a month, try to get somewhere
warm. Yeah. Booking is honestly hard in the winter in New England because
it could snow at any point. Yeah, all a sudden, you're about
to play a gig and you really canceled. Yeah, or you have band
practice is canceled, right, it's right. So yeah, we take the
winner to be creative and go south. Yeah, and there's just less venues
around here. You know, there are a handful of bars and stuff you
can play, but it's you know, summer is just nice. You can
play outdoors anywhere or you can play indoors anywhere. So yeah, is um,
do you guys do any covers or or do you have reduced stick to
originals? So we do like a handful of covers this because like sometimes you
show up to a new city and nobody's seen you guys yet. Yeah,
to check it out. You like this song, you know, so now
you like this song song? Predominantly originals for the most part. Yeah,
yeah, and we definitely like change our covers up from what they were originally,
yeah than like ours. Yeah, yeah, I definitely put our flavor
into it. Do you do you ever do covers whereas somebody doesn't know it's
a cover and then they come up to you and they're like, yeah I
really like that song, and yeah a lot of them. We've definitely done
some pretty obscure covers to like the theme song to the show Doug and stuff
like ye things like that into turtles, Like, yeah, we do themes
for every show, so we'll be oh, the theme for this is this,
so we're like really, yeah, well we'll try to think of songs
that have to do with that, you know, as a intro or something
like that. Yeah, Like we're supposed to play Cisco Brewery last summer,
so we learned Cisco Kid Ben War. Yeah, we're like, oh right,
Cisco Cisco brewals were like Disco Kid. You know. We're like,
I'll bring us to that, pa, Like what the actual words are?
Right? You know? We want to we like to make people laugh and
dance. Yeah, that's usually our goal. Yeah. Um, how does
the songwriting process work with you guys? You all write together or is there
some spontaneity to it where he's just kind of jams. We're like, hey,
man, it's your turn to write, Like you have a song,
right, Like we all have what one on the back burner and I'm like,
yeah, man, I got like eight riffs and twenty core regressions and
then we just kind of take that and just cut out the fat and make
it into something good. It takes a while. Yeah, Usually one guy
comes with an idea and then everyone else helps finish him and put his thoughts
together type of deal, right, because we'll just one of us will be
like, not that doesn't sound good, screw that, you know, yeah?
Or that sounds great? Well? Usually yeah, like in a practice
we can have a new song. So it just takes, you know,
wow, the criticism of each other and also just thinking of like, how
are we going to take the segue from this part to this part? Yeah,
basically like, oh, that's a really cool riff. If we did
it slower and heavier, it'd be a really cool breakdown, right Yeah.
Yeah, and we do. We have a buddy who will like he'll come
over and like just drink some beers and whiskey and be like, oh yeah,
man, I got some lyrics frere like the Cowboys song. We wrote
all those like We've got We've Got drunk. That night we were like buying
the lyrics, are like, no way, man, that's so funny,
like just like going like such an authentic pure song. Because of that's like
you can feel like how funny and great of a time it was. Yeah,
just remember that evening. Yeah, and Kyle, how do you know
these guys? Um? I was my first band I was ever in was
with Ian Um and I said I could play the bass, but I lied.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's why I play bass. It's funny.
I did my best, but yeah, he's obviously substantially better. Um.
Also, how long have I known you? Twenty? I don't don't.
I don't think. I don't know. We met in elementary school.
I think, oh wow, I got grounded and so I wasn't allowed to
hang out with my friends, but I could hang out with my sisters friends.
And Kyle was the coolest one of my sisters. Yeah, right that
that but yeah it's UM's but it's way too long. But yeah, in
finding my first party, he introduced me to all the cool stuff. Yeah,
shout outs Ian. He's not punk anymore, but I still love his
Who was the last time he went? I got a job, bro,
grow up? You know it's funny. We were talking about dreadlocks earlier.
Remember I told you as they wait till the hair comes. Yeah, yeah,
you go anywhere and they're just like, so you guys with the band,
You're like, how did you know? Right? What was the band
you guys were in together? What was it called Battle Royal? Yeah?
I think and externally was it external use Only? And then and fake Scotch
tape before that? I think, no, that was you in Nate and
oh that's right, it's right away. It doesn't matter. Externally use only.
That's a cool man, Like, yeah, yeah, you should be
sixteen and play at milies. They really love you there milies anymore? Never
mind? Yeah, no, not anymore. They can go back there now.
Yeah, some controversial children's songs written by children's it's fun, right right
exactly? Is any of that stuff online? I hope not. I don't
think so. If not, no, I think I've asked you, you
know, gonna find it? Yeah? Yeah, And if it's on my
Space, it is still there because you can't. You can't get things removed
from my Space. I have. I can't remember your password. No,
no, but somehow I figured it out and and uh I did I have
gotten in Yeah to my like within the last couple of years. I think
I did remember it and then but I've had people have told me that you
can't, like, if you want to remove your A profile from my Space,
you can't. No, it's uh MySpace dot com backslash bannit tree left
because I misspelled bananas. So if you want to look me up two thousand
and four Kyle Super sad and depressing. Really yeah, you can't get rid
of it? Yeah yeah, still on there? Like you know how you
you would have like the songs that you really like? Oh yeah, and
I top top six ye, it was elite. I didn't know a top
eight. I cut you very exclusive, well, because you knew that someday
you would be at the news desk. I have that sixth right here.
It's perfect. That's right. I'm including myself. Without my Space, you
wouldn't be here, would be nothing, that's right without Without Tom, you
wouldn't be here where. How's that dude? Dude? You know Tom?
Well? Yeah, I mean like I know that Elon Musk and the other
guy are fighting, Like Facebook guy, he's gonna be the referee for their
match. Yeah, I'll be like w w E and he just comes in
with a chair. I would pay top dollars for that, honestly, if
you're just joining us, the try combs are here with us in studio.
So what do you guys? What do you guys have coming up? Are
you? Um? You have? You got to have a gig coming up?
Okay, we're gonna have free hot dogs. It's July fifteenth at the
Shaky This this Friday is this Friday fourteen fifty Oh my god, it is
the fourteenth, fourteenth, fourteenth. We're playing with our buddies. It's a
pre party for the Homie Collective camp Out Festival. It's like it's second public
here, but it's been a festival for quite some time. Okay, it's
gonna slap super hard. Yeah, that's gonna be a good time. What
what time do you guys go on? We're going on right, Yeah,
play at nine Okay, then they got they got their set, and then
we play at ten thirty. Um, yeah at the Shaskying and we're gonna
do some raffles and stuff like that for ticket giveaways for the home Collective camp
Out. So cool, cool, very good, very good. Um,
where should people go online? Where? What should people uh know to find
you guys online? And how to keep up with all your shows and everything.
Tricombs Music dot com. Tricombs Music dot com remember that forever? And
then like we have a Facebook and an Instagram, We're on Spotify, Apple
Music everywhere. Okay, Yeah, you guys are easy to find. But
yeah, if you just do a Google search, you gotta search Tricomes band
because otherwise there's gonna be a bunch of pictures, right Dick Coombs Music,
Yeah, there's no The tri Combs was already stolen, so I had to
do tri Combs Music. Oh I got you. Yeah, and then we
have a new album coming out to Stay Tuned early fall September issue. Yeah,
Okay, we'll be doing a little like some touring at that time too,
so it'll be a good time to catch us do some more festivals or
playing Wormtown trout Stock. Trout Stock is actually yeah, August clo hard,
next weeks hard as the next weekend after it's up in Harmony, Maine.
Okay, July twenty first. That one's gonna be fun. It's like an
EDM festival and we're the only bandits and Ian's playing with that band too.
Oh wow. So like we're like, we're the we're the band people at
the at the DJ festivals, so it should be pretty fun. Yeah.
Yeah, people are like, whoa this is people playing instruments. Where do
you guys record? By the way, because the studio stuff sounds really good,
thanks man um. So most of it we did, like Jazz Capastuaire
was all at Mojo's studio. Other than Spooky Lady, I recorded out of
my house. I recorded a lot of the new album, like Intermission to
Another Dimension, Danny Danko, all that stuff has been recorded at our house.
Yeah, I call it a SOS studio, so Snake Oil Studios because
I recorded Snake Oil at our house too. Oh okay, yeah, but
that's been the common theme now. It's like I just worked at Guitar Center
for Wilem's bought everything. Yeah thanks Guitar Center. Yeah, I quit after
working one day a week for like a year. But if you think about
it, I gave them way more money than I made, so they made
out right right, And I'm not selling it. We just recorded our albums
or an upcoming one with it, so yeah. Yeah. And Ian's girlfriend
Brook did the fiance Rook did the art for it for the back half and
it's looking awesome. Half did it. She's still working on it. She
should be drawing right now. I hope she is engaged. Oh my,
well, very good. By the way, you guys Worry from the Sea
Coast YEP live in like the lead area, okay, lead over a lot
of good bands that way. Yeah, there's a lot of good bands up
too. But isn't another band stopped Tito Collective Oh okay. And then we
have like our friends like Harror Shamadillo. Those guys are really good yet Clandestine's
awesome. They were having a sax player. Actually he's playing with we're having
a sax player this Friday too. Oh no kidding, Yeah, he's just
not here because we were hanging out with him at Galactic. But you know,
he's probably playing sax right now, so he has to practice, is
uh for first time? Is his first time playing with you? Guys are
probably like five four or five joins us for festivals, but like we're kind
of like, yo, man, you're in the band. Yeah, so
now we're like kind of just all the game to come every time. Yeah,
yeah, he's gonna be working. We make sure every time feels like
the first time. Yeah, that's good. Girls would definitely like you man,
there's certain things he doesn't like to do. Though. If you're like,
hey man, go go play like as the sexy sacks man the crowd,
he won't have it. No, you'll be like you know, but
yeah, if you as long as you play Super Smash Bros With him,
like once a week, he'll stay with the band. Like he let's call
you up at like midnight, be like hey man, you want to like
play some Super Smash Bros. Like all right, yeah, I guess nice,
nice, very good, very good. Well, I'm really glad you
guys came in today and you sound phenomenal time. Yeah, absolutely, thank
you for coming in and Kyle Clayton, wonderful to see you. I wonderful
to see all of you. I'm happy to do a double header today.
Back for more and then are you working a night? No? No,
I'm not even tired though. Wow, I mix it up. Go the
Wild Rover Pub. Yeah down, yeah, it's it's new, it just
came out, So I buy me a drink please. I'm not musically inclined,
but just right right, that's my that's my pitch. Well, you've
I know you've been missed. I missed you, and thank you for letting
me out again. Well, guys, thank you again. The try Combs
wonderful to have you in.
