Turbo Cats | Matt Connarton Unleashed
Speaker 1: Let's get these mics on because Turbocats is in the house. Yeah, good,
Speaker 1: we got uh. Hello, Actually, let's do this, Jim. Let's
Speaker 1: start with you. Tell us who you are, what you
Speaker 1: do in the band, and any other pertinent information you
Speaker 1: want to If you want to mention your screen printing too,
Speaker 1: feel free. Thank you. I got this sexy new shirt
Speaker 1: that you gave me, but yeah, go ahead. Thanks.
Speaker 2: Hey, my name is Jim Hurley and I'm the drummer
Speaker 2: with the Turbocats. Gosh, how long we've been together, guys,
Speaker 2: like probably like five years or so. Yeah, push, it's
Speaker 2: been a wonderful journey. Yes, it's a very interesting journey.
Speaker 1: I'm just you know, the drummer in the band. Do
Speaker 1: my part.
Speaker 2: I do screen printing, simple stuff, mostly bands, but I
Speaker 2: guess it could really apply to anything. So if you
Speaker 2: need screenprinting, just check out the Turbocats on Facebook and
Speaker 2: you can message us.
Speaker 1: We'll take care of you. Yeah, very good, very good,
Speaker 1: and please follow us. Yes, yes, all right, and you sir.
Speaker 3: So I am WES. I play guitar and turbocats. I
Speaker 3: also write a lot of the music and also do vocals,
Speaker 3: and it's been a super fun time. I love playing
Speaker 3: with these guys and we all have a special part
Speaker 3: in the band.
Speaker 4: All right, very good, and you My name is Chris Bean.
Speaker 4: I play bass, I do vocals to written a song
Speaker 4: or two more to come, yeah, more to come to
Speaker 4: so that's really exciting.
Speaker 1: And yeah yeah, very good. Ready, very good, very good.
Speaker 1: So you've got some new uh, you got a couple
Speaker 1: of new songs actually that we're going to feature today.
Speaker 1: One of them I'm particularly excited about that. I I'd
Speaker 1: mentioned that I definitely wanted to play first on the
Speaker 1: show today. Now, local listeners in Manchester, New Hampshire, of course,
Speaker 1: will be very familiar with the subject matter of this song.
Speaker 1: But but but a Cadillac motel, which I love such
Speaker 1: a great the song. Not I've never actually been inside
Speaker 1: the building, but but tell us about this for for
Speaker 1: people who are not in the area who might not
Speaker 1: know about the Cadillac motel.
Speaker 3: Okay, So I'll start it off by saying this. So
Speaker 3: one of my favorite musical artists is lou Reid from
Speaker 3: Velvet Underground. He's a huge inspiration on me. And there
Speaker 3: was one day where I was thinking about lou Reid
Speaker 3: and I feel like he was really good at kind
Speaker 3: of he was in the New York music scene, and
Speaker 3: he was really good at kind of like capturing certain
Speaker 3: vibes from New York and certain places and talking about
Speaker 3: like maybe the more dingier side of things. Not always
Speaker 3: the most PG stuff, especially at the time, but I
Speaker 3: really liked that idea how he would just kind of
Speaker 3: write about things that were around him and stuff like that. Yeah,
Speaker 3: so I was kind of inspired to write my kind
Speaker 3: of lou Reed inspired song. So okay, I was kind
Speaker 3: of thinking, like, well, what could I write about in
Speaker 3: Manchester where I could kind of have the same vibe
Speaker 3: as like a Lou Reed song. And for those listeners
Speaker 3: who don't know the Cadillac Motel, it's located on Chestnut Street.
Speaker 3: They have a slogan called stay a Night or a Lifetime,
Speaker 3: So that just kind of sets up the vibe for
Speaker 3: the place where maybe there's been some shady things that
Speaker 3: have gone down there in the past. And we figured
Speaker 3: it was a Manchester staple and it was a great
Speaker 3: thing to write about. So I immediately just got out my
Speaker 3: pen and pad a paper and that song literally just
Speaker 3: came out of me. It was almost like I feel
Speaker 3: like the best songs I write. I don't even think
Speaker 3: about them. They just kind of come out. And if
Speaker 3: you come to Manchester, you got to drive by it
Speaker 3: at least because it has a lot of character. You know,
Speaker 3: a lot of stories that have lived within those walls.
Speaker 3: This sure is a place to check out.
Speaker 1: And now have you approached the management there and said, hey,
Speaker 1: do you want to uh use this song in some
Speaker 1: way to promote your establishment?
Speaker 3: So I haven't, but honestly, that would be super cool.
Speaker 3: I was totally thinking about it. Yeah, I mean we
Speaker 3: might as well. We've we've thought about, uh just renting
Speaker 3: a room there for maybe a few hours or a
Speaker 3: nighttime just to get.
Speaker 1: In the or a lifetime, yeah, or a lifetime for life.
Speaker 5: Maybe we'll like it so much we don't want to leave.
Speaker 1: Oh boy, Well, we should play this and then we'll
Speaker 1: come back in chat some more. I'm dying to play this.
Speaker 1: This is so good if you're just joining us. We've
Speaker 1: got Turbocats here with us in studio, and here it
Speaker 1: is brand new track from the turbot from see I
Speaker 1: keep doing it from Turboil Cat. We had a whole
Speaker 1: I should explain to the audience. We had a whole
Speaker 1: conversation off air about I was asking these guys, is
Speaker 1: it Turbocats or the Turbocats. Pretty sure it was just
Speaker 1: turbo CAATs. But yeh, there's there's a lot of bands
Speaker 1: that are plagued by that, you know, whether to include
Speaker 1: the the the you know, like, uh, you know, I
Speaker 1: told these guys U Jim that you weren't here yet.
Speaker 1: But I was talking about how growing up, talking Heads
Speaker 1: was always one of my favorite bands, but my entire
Speaker 1: childhood I thought it was the talking Heads, and then
Speaker 1: eventually I realized it was just talking Heads. So I'm
Speaker 1: trying to be very precise, but it is Turbocats, not
Speaker 1: the Turbocats. And check this out. I love this. This
Speaker 1: is called Cadillac Motel.
Speaker 6: I've been busted. I can discust it.
Speaker 7: I'd pick shot up, I ben down, Hotel, stay and night.
Speaker 8: For a lifetime, hunches a street in the six or three?
Speaker 8: How the cattle my hotel?
Speaker 9: Welcome?
Speaker 6: I haven't Boston. I've been discussed.
Speaker 9: I've been shut up. How hotel, hotel, hotel.
Speaker 10: Stand night or a light?
Speaker 1: I love it. I love it, got a lot. It's motel. Right, Yep.
Speaker 1: That was another thing we talked about off air as
Speaker 1: a motel or hotel. I love that you did capture
Speaker 1: that lou read vibe. I think, oh, thank you so much,
Speaker 1: well done, Well done, guys. Turbo Cats is here with
Speaker 1: us in studio and that's one of the brand new songs. Now,
Speaker 1: what's the plan for these because you've got you got
Speaker 1: two brand new songs that we're playing today, and then
Speaker 1: if you know, if we have time, we'll get in
Speaker 1: some of some of the older stuff too from the
Speaker 1: last time you were with us. But actually before before
Speaker 1: we talk about that, we have a call. Let's see
Speaker 1: who's on the line. Hello, caller, you're on the air.
Speaker 11: Oh snap, oh it's up Jim calling in to show
Speaker 11: my support for the Turbocats. I have a turbocat on
Speaker 11: top of me right now. It's very it's pretty cool
Speaker 11: and yeah, just decided to listen in to some Turbo
Speaker 11: CAATs on ninety point five three.
Speaker 10: Nice.
Speaker 5: What's the turbocat's name? We got to the area.
Speaker 11: He's like, he's one of those Orange guys.
Speaker 12: Nice.
Speaker 1: We love the Orange guys.
Speaker 11: Yeah, getting up the things what they do?
Speaker 1: Great?
Speaker 11: Oh yeah, good, that was a good try.
Speaker 5: Oh thank you cool.
Speaker 1: Yeah, thanks, we'll be playing it again this afternoon. You'll
Speaker 1: hear us.
Speaker 11: Well, awesome, all right, I'm gonna I think that was
Speaker 11: about it.
Speaker 5: Can we get a moo?
Speaker 1: Yeah before you hang up?
Speaker 11: All right?
Speaker 3: Oh, I guess request some people are modest about.
Speaker 1: Yeah, what is that a moo? Yeah?
Speaker 11: Moo?
Speaker 1: Yeah?
Speaker 3: Oh yeah yeah, so I'm pretty sure I unless if
Speaker 3: someone else that I don't know have coined it before me.
Speaker 3: But so I had a black and white cat. Unfortunately
Speaker 3: she's over the Rainbow bridge now okay, but I had
Speaker 3: her for over ten years. Her name was Pepperoni, my
Speaker 3: pep Cat. But I wrote a song called My Cat
Speaker 3: Looks Like a Cow, which is on our last album,
Speaker 3: and it's about my cat Pep in her looking like
Speaker 3: a cow. So in this song I coined the term
Speaker 3: moo yoo because I'm like, well, if a cat was
Speaker 3: actually mixed with the cow, what sound would it make?
Speaker 6: Right?
Speaker 10: Move?
Speaker 1: Yeah, that makes sense?
Speaker 11: So my job.
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah you're still there. Awesome, Maybe we could get.
Speaker 11: A mood Yeah, yeah, I realized I kind of missed
Speaker 11: that last part about the request.
Speaker 3: Oh yeah, we can we hear it now? Can you
Speaker 3: give us our best moo yoo.
Speaker 11: Oh yeah, moo yoo yeah.
Speaker 1: Well done. Yes later man, oh very nice. All right,
Speaker 1: So I want to talk about the other the other
Speaker 1: news song before we get caught up on everything you
Speaker 1: guys have been up to actually, and then we'll talk
Speaker 1: about what you're going to be doing with these But
Speaker 1: I'm dying to talk about this because again and Jimmy
Speaker 1: weren't here for this, but we had an off air
Speaker 1: conversation about this. So I learned something from Wes about
Speaker 1: well tell us about the backstory of UFO and the
Speaker 1: six O three.
Speaker 3: Okay, So, on the same lines as Cadillac Motel, I
Speaker 3: kind of wanted to start writing some lot of songs
Speaker 3: that were local and kind of true to people who
Speaker 3: listen to us who live around here and stuff like that.
Speaker 3: So another thing which I feel like puts New Hampshire
Speaker 3: kind of on the map is that the first alien
Speaker 3: abduction that was reported actually took place in New Hampshire
Speaker 3: and it was a couple, Betty and Barney Hill, and
Speaker 3: it was in the fifties, I believe, and they were
Speaker 3: driving up north and basically they saw a bunch of
Speaker 3: lights and spooky stuff going on, and they basically had
Speaker 3: a blackout period where they both kind of there's this
Speaker 3: time lapse where they can't account for and they don't
Speaker 3: really know what happened, and they started kind of having
Speaker 3: these like reoccurring dreams of aliens basically like examining them
Speaker 3: and taking them on their ship. And it's really interesting
Speaker 3: because they ended up actually getting a psychologist to basically
Speaker 3: hypnotize them and kind of try and have them recall
Speaker 3: some of these memories and things that happened. And the
Speaker 3: thing that was really crazy was that the psychologist actually
Speaker 3: got them to both share things of their experience, and
Speaker 3: a lot of what each part of the couple was
Speaker 3: saying actually corroborated what the other one was saying. So,
Speaker 3: I mean, I think UFOs are alive and well, especially
Speaker 3: in the six ZH three. And there's one little more
Speaker 3: bit to the story is that we have a lot
Speaker 3: of friends up north, so we play a lot of
Speaker 3: shows up north. The Unwells are a great band from
Speaker 3: up north. Timmy heist in the four five six. But
Speaker 3: every time we drive up north to play those shows,
Speaker 3: I always think about this alien abduction because it could
Speaker 3: happened to us, that could happen to anyone, and who knows.
Speaker 3: Maybe it did at one point with us, because I
Speaker 3: think there probably was, yeah, going through the notch. Yeah,
Speaker 3: I think there was one time that we were driving
Speaker 3: up and there actually is a moment of time that
Speaker 3: was actually unaccounted for for us.
Speaker 1: Really.
Speaker 3: Yeah, and the next thing we knew, we were at
Speaker 3: the Rock and Roll Show ready to play. So I
Speaker 3: have has a double meaning.
Speaker 1: Well, so I didn't know this. This is the part
Speaker 1: that I learned when we were talking off era that
Speaker 1: that was the first there's was the first documented alien
Speaker 1: abduction or the first reported however you want to say it.
Speaker 1: I didn't know that. Yeah, So very very interesting. Well,
Speaker 1: let's give this a listen, uh UFO and the six
Speaker 1: O three. You have the title right, yep, okay, yep,
Speaker 1: right here it is and this is Turbocats brand new
Speaker 1: from Turbocats.
Speaker 13: Lists lists.
Speaker 14: Sust so.
Speaker 15: M on the Cold Table, May seven, Name to Stay.
Speaker 9: South West Snow.
Speaker 14: Snow and six O.
Speaker 1: Six U f O and the six oh three brand
Speaker 1: new from Turbocats. And we have Turbocats here with us
Speaker 1: alive in studio. Yeah, it's another great track. Guys. Oh,
Speaker 1: thank you so much, you absolutely so. What is the
Speaker 1: what is the plan with with the new songs? It's
Speaker 1: the two new ones that we're featuring today.
Speaker 3: So I think basically our plan is that we were
Speaker 3: basically gonna release these two new tracks that everyone just
Speaker 3: heard on all our streaming plans, platforms and all of
Speaker 3: that sort of stuff as we continue to work on
Speaker 3: the new album kind of as a teaser, just to
Speaker 3: get people excited, just so they can kind of see
Speaker 3: where our new sound is going. Yeah, hopefully they enjoy it,
Speaker 3: and then when we finish our full length album, then
Speaker 3: we'll drop it as a whole in those two new
Speaker 3: songs will be on the new album.
Speaker 1: Outstanding, Outstanding. Well, I thought we had somebody on the line,
Speaker 1: but they're not there. Try again call er if you'd like.
Speaker 1: But no, very cool. Now do you have any kind
Speaker 1: of an eta on when?
Speaker 3: So it seems like it's going pretty quick. After recording
Speaker 3: our last album, where we were doing a lot of
Speaker 3: like trial and error sort of stuff, it seems like
Speaker 3: with the new one we have a very good method down.
Speaker 1: Which we do.
Speaker 3: Have to throw a lot of props to Jim over
Speaker 3: here because it's still learning. Yeah, we're learning, we learn
Speaker 3: as we go, but he has a lot of great
Speaker 3: audio equipment so we can actually record at our practice space,
Speaker 3: and Jim's put a lot of work into perfecting the art.
Speaker 3: I shall say, okay, and this recording process is going
Speaker 3: a lot quicker than the last one. Okay, so it
Speaker 3: should be it should be done pretty quickly. I think
Speaker 3: maybe like a couple of months.
Speaker 1: Talk Oh wow, yeah, oh cool, yeah, awesome.
Speaker 3: We do it all in house, so for us, it's
Speaker 3: you know, we can mix it, master it, do all
Speaker 3: that all ourselves.
Speaker 1: Oh that's that's great. Yeah, that's great.
Speaker 3: And it gives it that punk DIY ethos too, which we.
Speaker 5: All love so much.
Speaker 1: It does, it does, but it still sounds great too. Sonically,
Speaker 1: it sounds really really good. Thank you and Jim you also,
Speaker 1: so we should mention too. I think we alluded to
Speaker 1: it earlier. But the shirts, so you're you're screen screen
Speaker 1: screenprint all speaking a DIY, you screenprint all these yourself?
Speaker 16: Right?
Speaker 1: Yeah?
Speaker 2: Yeah, basically you know the studio where we're set up,
Speaker 2: I've got a room where you know, I've set up
Speaker 2: for screen printing. I just started doing our own work
Speaker 2: and then other bands would ask me to do work,
Speaker 2: and you know, I've done a couple of businesses and whatnot.
Speaker 1: Excellent.
Speaker 2: I've been upgrading the Whipminton yeah, set up to do
Speaker 2: you know, basic screen printing work. Yeah, you know yeah,
Speaker 2: and their quality shirts. Yeah, they come out really nice.
Speaker 2: People have been happy. I mean I've been at for
Speaker 2: about eight years now. Oh okay, it's eight years and
Speaker 2: you know I haven't had any problems.
Speaker 1: That's great. Thing, that's great. Now, are you guys doing
Speaker 1: anything from each other than shirts or just shirts so far?
Speaker 10: Stickers.
Speaker 2: I put some stuff up on Etsy, you know, it's
Speaker 2: some print on demand using our logo, So people want like,
Speaker 2: you know, coffee mugs, t shirts, hoodies.
Speaker 1: I've got some of those items up there. Yeah, print
Speaker 1: on demand excellent, excellent.
Speaker 3: And there is actually a new logo up on the
Speaker 3: Etsy side too, yeah, which is really cool.
Speaker 15: Yeah.
Speaker 3: We actually played a show recently at the Bungalow and
Speaker 3: one of the other bands that played gone in contact
Speaker 3: with us after and they liked our music so much
Speaker 3: and they ended up drying up this mock design almost
Speaker 3: like a new Turbocat's logo.
Speaker 1: Oh wow.
Speaker 3: So we ended up purchasing it from him because it
Speaker 3: was a super cool rad logo. So that's also up
Speaker 3: on our Etsy what Jim was talking about. So, okay,
Speaker 3: we have the classic logo which is on your shirt.
Speaker 5: And then we have the new logo too.
Speaker 3: Oh okay, there's many options, so check out our Etsy site.
Speaker 3: There's a lot of good stuff there.
Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, absolutely we should play one of the let's
Speaker 1: play one of the older ones. Do you guys want to?
Speaker 11: Oh?
Speaker 1: Should we play?
Speaker 16: You know?
Speaker 1: I feel like we should play My cat looks like
Speaker 1: a cow? Oh yeah, because we talked about it earlier.
Speaker 16: Yep.
Speaker 1: So uh and and what is it a move?
Speaker 13: Move? Yeah?
Speaker 5: Yeah, one, two three?
Speaker 1: Ye should have done that for the station. ID. Oh
Speaker 1: wait a minute, wait a minute, we have a call.
Speaker 1: Let's see see who's on the line here. Hello Coller,
Speaker 1: you're on the air.
Speaker 16: Hello is always thanks for hosting.
Speaker 1: You're welcome.
Speaker 16: Uh Chris, mister Hansen Barlow and Jim, my previous drummer
Speaker 16: from another Yeah, Jim, Jim knows me as Frank. I
Speaker 16: was Frank back in the day. I just want to
Speaker 16: I just want to say a couple of things. Number One,
Speaker 16: have you guys had your za?
Speaker 5: Oh my god, is a weekly part of my diet.
Speaker 1: I am always.
Speaker 16: Yeah, yeah, I love that, love that the other the
Speaker 16: other thing. I want to say, this is more directed
Speaker 16: towards the masses. Check these guys out live. So a
Speaker 16: quick little vignette from the cisco. I was at Keen
Speaker 16: Music Fest last year, my favorite events of all events
Speaker 16: every single year. I actually didn't know you guys were
Speaker 16: on the air this morning. I kind of wish I
Speaker 16: knew previously because I'm on the way to appointment at
Speaker 16: whatever so key Music Fest. I was actually Jim couldn't
Speaker 16: be there, and and I came to like support Jim because,
Speaker 16: like I said, he was my previous drummer. Guys Chris
Speaker 16: and mister Barlow held it down. I was supremely impressed
Speaker 16: to the point where there's another band on another station
Speaker 16: I wanted to see, and I would. I just stayed
Speaker 16: glued to that gazebo. I love you, let me tell
Speaker 16: you so obviously. I look forward to the day when
Speaker 16: I could see the entire lineup. And you know, I
Speaker 16: can't always make it to your shows, but I definitely
Speaker 16: want to make it to one of your next shows
Speaker 16: because these guys rock guys, and I'm glad. I can't wait.
Speaker 16: I don't know it's is I cantellct motel and uh,
Speaker 16: what's that other one? The six o three is that?
Speaker 16: Is that recording out?
Speaker 5: So it will be soon.
Speaker 3: So we debuted him on the radio show today. But
Speaker 3: this weekend, at some point I'm going to get them
Speaker 3: up on I think there's kind of a few days
Speaker 3: waiting period, but we're gonna get them right up on
Speaker 3: all the streaming platforms.
Speaker 5: So give it.
Speaker 16: Spread the spread the cheers.
Speaker 1: Oh for sure.
Speaker 3: Yeah, they should be up within a week. And then
Speaker 3: just keep checking turbocats on streaming platforms and you'll see
Speaker 3: them up here soon enough.
Speaker 16: And one more thing, and one more thing. This is
Speaker 16: for the masses and for you, Matt. Okay, I'm not
Speaker 16: even I'm a dog person and these guys my head
Speaker 16: songs about cats. Let's let me tell you. I'm a believer.
Speaker 16: So thank you, thank you for taking the call. Man.
Speaker 5: We need a move yefore you leave? Oh yeah yeah yeah,
Speaker 5: give us your best mood. Yeah before you leave, hey,
Speaker 5: so just go.
Speaker 1: You're still there, Yeah, I'm still here.
Speaker 16: So I mistakenly turned on the radio in my car.
Speaker 16: I didn't want to do that because I obviously feedback.
Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, these guys were asking for a mu
Speaker 1: yao before you.
Speaker 16: Go emi yow yea. Yeah, all right, take care.
Speaker 1: Guys, thank you, thank you. All right, very nice, very nice,
Speaker 1: nice here from Cisco. All right, so without further ado,
Speaker 1: speaking of mu yao, we will play. My cat looks
Speaker 1: like a cow, and this is turbocats.
Speaker 10: My cat is.
Speaker 13: Black and why she got spots like that cow?
Speaker 6: But she doesn't go.
Speaker 10: She goes yet you won't my my pussy cat and.
Speaker 17: Know my.
Speaker 10: She'll be out on safe playing with her batta gull.
Speaker 10: My cow looks like a cow.
Speaker 15: We a.
Speaker 9: We have we have.
Speaker 12: Horses huber though, excuse to the little ladies go only
Speaker 12: going she goes. M The cow's got confused. They don't
Speaker 12: know what to do.
Speaker 10: Well, she looks just like a cow, but she don't love.
Speaker 10: My cat looks like a cow.
Speaker 13: Who we are? Who we aw.
Speaker 10: W we a? My cat is black and why she
Speaker 10: got spots like a cat. But she doesn't go loves
Speaker 10: she goes?
Speaker 9: Now you five my pussy cat.
Speaker 13: They don't by.
Speaker 10: Show down.
Speaker 9: Same play with.
Speaker 10: My cat looks like a.
Speaker 1: My cat looks like a.
Speaker 10: My cat looks like a.
Speaker 13: My cat looks like a cat.
Speaker 1: My cat looks like a cow. The band is Turbo
Speaker 1: Cats and we've got the guys Jim West and Chris
Speaker 1: here from a Turbo Cats here with us in studio.
Speaker 1: And yeah, that's another that's another great song from you guys.
Speaker 1: Thank you by the way. So for those who are
Speaker 1: listening live, you guys have a show today, do you know?
Speaker 1: Oh you don't, okay, Oh, we're just it's a few
Speaker 1: people getting together. Oh gotcha, I gotcha. All right. So
Speaker 1: are you guys playing out a lot? Are you doing
Speaker 1: a lot of shows? It sounds like you've been busy.
Speaker 3: Yeah, well, yeah, we've been super busy. We've been playing
Speaker 3: a bunch of shows, a lot of shows up north.
Speaker 3: We played at the Bungalow. We do have some house
Speaker 3: shows coming up this summer.
Speaker 15: Yeah.
Speaker 3: Yeah, the spot and Nash was the super cool spot.
Speaker 3: If people haven't been there yet, that place is awesome, excellent.
Speaker 3: Right now, we're kind of focusing on getting our album
Speaker 3: out before we try and book like a bunch more
Speaker 3: shows and stuff like that.
Speaker 1: Yeah, house shows coming up in July. Yeah, very good,
Speaker 1: very good. So for people obviously you've been on the
Speaker 1: show before, but for people who are new to you,
Speaker 1: tell us about the turbo cats concept. Where does where
Speaker 1: does it come from? Obviously? I mean I assume all
Speaker 1: three of you enjoy cats. Yeah, so although it'd be
Speaker 1: funny if one of you was actually allergic to cats
Speaker 1: or something, I am actually.
Speaker 5: Everybody has them.
Speaker 2: It started with I was in a band called Slow
Speaker 2: Coyote and we didn't have a bassist. So we for,
Speaker 2: you know, what's let's find a guitarist and have him
Speaker 2: played bass for us. So we found Wes Yeah, and
Speaker 2: you know, he went out and bought a bass, started
Speaker 2: playing bass, and then the lead singer guitarist for that band,
Speaker 2: you know, left for New Orleans and we were kind
Speaker 2: of stuck behind, and Wes had been doing a solo
Speaker 2: thing for quite a while, so it's like, hey, let's
Speaker 2: let's rock out my solo songs.
Speaker 1: So we started there.
Speaker 2: And then he's like, hey, you know a friend of
Speaker 2: mine that I used to be in a band with
Speaker 2: a long time ago and grew up with, Chris, would
Speaker 2: be interested.
Speaker 1: So Chris came on board, and it's just you know it,
Speaker 1: it worked from there. Yeah, you know, so it's been great.
Speaker 15: It worked out.
Speaker 3: Yeah, you want to share your origins bass and turbo cast, Yeah,
Speaker 3: because I remember I was well, I was not playing
Speaker 3: in a band at the time, and I saw your
Speaker 3: post on Facebook, I.
Speaker 4: Believe, saying, oh, looking for a B player, and I'm like, oh, well, dude,
Speaker 4: hit me up, I'll play. You know, I love playing,
Speaker 4: so yeah, and it's been love ever since. I love
Speaker 4: playing with these guys.
Speaker 1: Yeah. I feel like they've made me a better musician
Speaker 1: for sure.
Speaker 4: Okay, that's also one thing I love with playing with them.
Speaker 1: Yeah.
Speaker 4: And yeah, I've known I've known Wes near like my
Speaker 4: whole life. Yeah, and I met Jim through Wes, through
Speaker 4: this band, and it's just been a really tight group since.
Speaker 3: Okay, Okay, Yeah, we're all very close friends, which helps
Speaker 3: just relaxed.
Speaker 2: There's never a tension. Yeah, we just get along so well,
Speaker 2: come up to you agree on things so easily. Yeah, no,
Speaker 2: that's a no cat fight.
Speaker 1: We should play because this also came up in the
Speaker 1: conversation with was it with Cisco yeah, or was it
Speaker 1: with my cruising for ZAO And you mentioned Zaza Wes.
Speaker 1: You said, I think Za's an important part of your
Speaker 1: Oh definitely.
Speaker 11: Yeah.
Speaker 3: So, and it's funny this this song actually has a
Speaker 3: little bit of a backstory, but I lived in Boston
Speaker 3: for a while in my early to mid twenties, and
Speaker 3: a lot of my friends that lived there. I don't
Speaker 3: know if they coined this term or where it came from,
Speaker 3: but they would always talk about pizza as za, okay,
Speaker 3: which I always thought sounded ridiculous, but I've always thought
Speaker 3: about it, So I kind of just started adopting that
Speaker 3: term aged because I thought it sounded ridiculous, yeah, calling
Speaker 3: pizza za, but that I grew to really like it.
Speaker 1: Yeah, And this.
Speaker 3: Song's also about when I played in a punk band
Speaker 3: when I was in high school. Uh, we just would
Speaker 3: basically eat nothing but pizza, and it was always a
Speaker 3: fun time. You know, think of like grabbing some pizza,
Speaker 3: going to punk shows, washing in the pit a little bit.
Speaker 3: So yeah, I feel like there's a lot of good
Speaker 3: memories tied to pizza, and this was kind of just
Speaker 3: a song about that.
Speaker 1: Pizza is my favorite food. Oh, I agree. We knew
Speaker 1: we liked you for a reason.
Speaker 5: Yes, Cats, I like all the same stuff.
Speaker 1: All the good things. Yeah, that's right. Some of it.
Speaker 1: I'm trying not to eat. The you know, the meat
Speaker 1: lovers is probably too much at some point. All that
Speaker 1: I know all that pepperoni, though, I'm trying to not
Speaker 1: eat pepperoni anymore. It's processed and it's bad for you.
Speaker 1: Oh my god.
Speaker 3: Before we played this song, we should each member of
Speaker 3: the band should share their favorite type of pizza. Oh
Speaker 3: there you go, Chris, what's your favorite type of pizza?
Speaker 3: Beach pizza?
Speaker 1: Yeah, I like beach pizza. Some people don't get it,
Speaker 1: but I like it.
Speaker 7: For me.
Speaker 3: I would honestly just say, like a New York style
Speaker 3: plain cheese or pepperoni is what I'm rocking.
Speaker 2: I was gonna say anchovies, but you know that brings
Speaker 2: back memory probably like a veggie, you know, Mediterranean style,
Speaker 2: and you know, pineapple pizza is pretty good.
Speaker 1: Don't do that to me. Look, I'm not a religious person,
Speaker 1: but I do feel that. I do feel that pineapple
Speaker 1: on pizza is a sin against pine that's my that's
Speaker 1: my making it worse. Oh god, oh god, oh my god.
Speaker 5: So funny.
Speaker 1: That is the ultimate debate. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it really is.
Speaker 1: I shouldn't be, it shouldn't be. All right, let's play this.
