2:16 Speaker 3: Okay, So I'll start it off by saying this. So

2:19 Speaker 3: one of my favorite musical artists is lou Reid from

2:22 Speaker 3: Velvet Underground. He's a huge inspiration on me. And there

2:27 Speaker 3: was one day where I was thinking about lou Reid

2:29 Speaker 3: and I feel like he was really good at kind

2:31 Speaker 3: of he was in the New York music scene, and

2:34 Speaker 3: he was really good at kind of like capturing certain

2:38 Speaker 3: vibes from New York and certain places and talking about

2:41 Speaker 3: like maybe the more dingier side of things. Not always

2:44 Speaker 3: the most PG stuff, especially at the time, but I

2:47 Speaker 3: really liked that idea how he would just kind of

2:50 Speaker 3: write about things that were around him and stuff like that. Yeah,

2:53 Speaker 3: so I was kind of inspired to write my kind

2:56 Speaker 3: of lou Reed inspired song. So okay, I was kind

3:00 Speaker 3: of thinking, like, well, what could I write about in

3:02 Speaker 3: Manchester where I could kind of have the same vibe

3:05 Speaker 3: as like a Lou Reed song. And for those listeners

3:08 Speaker 3: who don't know the Cadillac Motel, it's located on Chestnut Street.

3:15 Speaker 3: They have a slogan called stay a Night or a Lifetime,

3:19 Speaker 3: So that just kind of sets up the vibe for

3:21 Speaker 3: the place where maybe there's been some shady things that

3:25 Speaker 3: have gone down there in the past. And we figured

3:29 Speaker 3: it was a Manchester staple and it was a great

3:31 Speaker 3: thing to write about. So I immediately just got out my

3:34 Speaker 3: pen and pad a paper and that song literally just

3:38 Speaker 3: came out of me. It was almost like I feel

3:40 Speaker 3: like the best songs I write. I don't even think

3:42 Speaker 3: about them. They just kind of come out. And if

3:45 Speaker 3: you come to Manchester, you got to drive by it

3:47 Speaker 3: at least because it has a lot of character. You know,

3:50 Speaker 3: a lot of stories that have lived within those walls.

3:53 Speaker 3: This sure is a place to check out.

3:55 Speaker 1: And now have you approached the management there and said, hey,

10:57 Speaker 1: I'm dying to talk about this because again and Jimmy

10:59 Speaker 1: weren't here for this, but we had an off air

11:00 Speaker 1: conversation about this. So I learned something from Wes about

11:04 Speaker 1: well tell us about the backstory of UFO and the

11:06 Speaker 1: six O three.

11:07 Speaker 3: Okay, So, on the same lines as Cadillac Motel, I

11:12 Speaker 3: kind of wanted to start writing some lot of songs

11:14 Speaker 3: that were local and kind of true to people who

11:18 Speaker 3: listen to us who live around here and stuff like that.

11:22 Speaker 3: So another thing which I feel like puts New Hampshire

11:25 Speaker 3: kind of on the map is that the first alien

11:29 Speaker 3: abduction that was reported actually took place in New Hampshire

11:34 Speaker 3: and it was a couple, Betty and Barney Hill, and

11:39 Speaker 3: it was in the fifties, I believe, and they were

11:41 Speaker 3: driving up north and basically they saw a bunch of

11:45 Speaker 3: lights and spooky stuff going on, and they basically had

11:48 Speaker 3: a blackout period where they both kind of there's this

11:53 Speaker 3: time lapse where they can't account for and they don't

11:56 Speaker 3: really know what happened, and they started kind of having

11:59 Speaker 3: these like reoccurring dreams of aliens basically like examining them

12:04 Speaker 3: and taking them on their ship. And it's really interesting

12:08 Speaker 3: because they ended up actually getting a psychologist to basically

12:12 Speaker 3: hypnotize them and kind of try and have them recall

12:16 Speaker 3: some of these memories and things that happened. And the

12:20 Speaker 3: thing that was really crazy was that the psychologist actually

12:23 Speaker 3: got them to both share things of their experience, and

12:27 Speaker 3: a lot of what each part of the couple was

12:30 Speaker 3: saying actually corroborated what the other one was saying. So,

12:34 Speaker 3: I mean, I think UFOs are alive and well, especially

12:39 Speaker 3: in the six ZH three. And there's one little more

12:42 Speaker 3: bit to the story is that we have a lot

12:44 Speaker 3: of friends up north, so we play a lot of

12:47 Speaker 3: shows up north. The Unwells are a great band from

12:50 Speaker 3: up north. Timmy heist in the four five six. But

12:53 Speaker 3: every time we drive up north to play those shows,

12:56 Speaker 3: I always think about this alien abduction because it could

13:00 Speaker 3: happened to us, that could happen to anyone, and who knows.

13:03 Speaker 3: Maybe it did at one point with us, because I

13:05 Speaker 3: think there probably was, yeah, going through the notch. Yeah,

13:08 Speaker 3: I think there was one time that we were driving

13:10 Speaker 3: up and there actually is a moment of time that

13:13 Speaker 3: was actually unaccounted for for us.

13:15 Speaker 1: Really.

13:15 Speaker 3: Yeah, and the next thing we knew, we were at

13:17 Speaker 3: the Rock and Roll Show ready to play. So I

13:21 Speaker 3: have has a double meaning.

13:24 Speaker 1: Well, so I didn't know this. This is the part

13:27 Speaker 1: that I learned when we were talking off era that

13:30 Speaker 1: that was the first there's was the first documented alien

13:34 Speaker 1: abduction or the first reported however you want to say it.

17:47 Speaker 3: Have to throw a lot of props to Jim over

17:49 Speaker 3: here because it's still learning. Yeah, we're learning, we learn

17:54 Speaker 3: as we go, but he has a lot of great

17:55 Speaker 3: audio equipment so we can actually record at our practice space,

18:00 Speaker 3: and Jim's put a lot of work into perfecting the art.

18:56 Speaker 2: and you know, I've done a couple of businesses and whatnot.

18:58 Speaker 2: I've been upgrading the Whipminton yeah, set up to do

19:02 Speaker 2: you know, basic screen printing work. Yeah, you know yeah,

19:05 Speaker 2: and their quality shirts. Yeah, they come out really nice.

19:08 Speaker 2: People have been happy. I mean I've been at for

19:10 Speaker 2: about eight years now. Oh okay, it's eight years and

19:14 Speaker 2: you know I haven't had any problems.

28:50 Speaker 1: funny if one of you was actually allergic to cats

28:53 Speaker 1: or something, I am actually.

28:58 Speaker 5: Everybody has them.

28:59 Speaker 2: It started with I was in a band called Slow

29:02 Speaker 2: Coyote and we didn't have a bassist. So we for,

29:06 Speaker 2: you know, what's let's find a guitarist and have him

29:08 Speaker 2: played bass for us. So we found Wes Yeah, and

29:11 Speaker 2: you know, he went out and bought a bass, started

29:13 Speaker 2: playing bass, and then the lead singer guitarist for that band,

29:18 Speaker 2: you know, left for New Orleans and we were kind

29:20 Speaker 2: of stuck behind, and Wes had been doing a solo

29:23 Speaker 2: thing for quite a while, so it's like, hey, let's

29:25 Speaker 2: let's rock out my solo songs.

29:27 Speaker 1: So we started there.

29:30 Speaker 2: And then he's like, hey, you know a friend of

29:32 Speaker 2: mine that I used to be in a band with

29:34 Speaker 2: a long time ago and grew up with, Chris, would

29:36 Speaker 2: be interested.

29:37 Speaker 1: So Chris came on board, and it's just you know it,

29:40 Speaker 1: it worked from there. Yeah, you know, so it's been great.

29:44 Speaker 15: It worked out.

29:45 Speaker 3: Yeah, you want to share your origins bass and turbo cast, Yeah,

29:49 Speaker 3: because I remember I was well, I was not playing

29:53 Speaker 3: in a band at the time, and I saw your

29:57 Speaker 3: post on Facebook, I.

29:58 Speaker 4: Believe, saying, oh, looking for a B player, and I'm like, oh, well, dude,

30:07 Speaker 4: so yeah, and it's been love ever since. I love

30:12 Speaker 1: Yeah. I feel like they've made me a better musician

30:18 Speaker 4: Okay, that's also one thing I love with playing with them.

30:26 Speaker 4: whole life. Yeah, and I met Jim through Wes, through

30:31 Speaker 4: this band, and it's just been a really tight group since.
