Speaker 3: some articles and some additional podcasts that will be outside
Speaker 3: of what we do here at WMNH, so there's a
Speaker 3: lot coming up, so please keep a close eye on
Speaker 3: all of that today is Saturday, July eleven, twenty twenty six,
Speaker 3: and let's get this up. So we have joining us
Speaker 3: in studio. Aaron Billideo is here. He is back hello
Speaker 3: erin Hello.
Speaker 4: Let's see can you hear me?
Speaker 3: Oh? I can? Let me turn this up a little bit.
Speaker 3: Just want to make sure we've got a good level here.
Speaker 3: So Aaron has his entire rig and I did take
Speaker 3: a picture of it. But if you're watching, let's see
Speaker 3: if you happen to be watching the show on YouTube
Speaker 3: or wherever we stream Facebook and all that you can see, Aaron,
Speaker 3: can you describe because you're I hate to use the
Speaker 3: term one man band, it sounds a cliche, but can
Speaker 3: you describe this whole thing you got here before you part?
Speaker 2: Right?
Speaker 4: I have my pedal board with all my effects for
Speaker 4: my base down below. I have a mixer off to
Speaker 4: the side. Yep. I have an air synth which I
Speaker 4: waved my hands over like a magician. Yep. Right, and
Speaker 4: then I have uh, this is the Devin Town's in
Speaker 4: ocean machine. It's a dual delays and reverb built in.
Speaker 4: It's a nice pedal. And then I have my b
Speaker 4: beat right here. It's an Italian machine, and it hosts
Speaker 4: all my backing tracks and I can control all my
Speaker 4: tracks separately. So wow, I send out, I send out
Speaker 4: my drums, my keyboards, my organs and synths and all
Speaker 4: my special effects all on separate channels through this thing.
Speaker 4: So okay, that's like my latest thing since I've seen
Speaker 4: you last.
Speaker 3: Wow. Yeah, No, it's impressive in this technology. I mean,
Speaker 3: I assume some of this is uh not of this
Speaker 3: world because I noticed you have an alien with you
Speaker 3: who I assume she.
Speaker 4: Came down to help me out. I could. I can't
Speaker 4: do this all by myself. I'm not, that's mort right right.
Speaker 3: Yes, well, well very good, so trying to trying to
Speaker 3: make sure we get her in the shot for people
Speaker 3: watching online, right, well excellent. So Aaron, of course you're
Speaker 3: gonna play what is it, five songs for us.
Speaker 4: I'm gonna play five songs off my new album, Lid Liquor.
Speaker 3: Five songs live, and then Aaron will just like they
Speaker 3: used to do uh on Carson, Aaron will then go
Speaker 3: over to the chair and we'll uh and we'll talk
Speaker 3: for a bit about the new album Lid Liquor. But
Speaker 3: I'm going to hear you play and uh We're just
Speaker 3: gonna let you uh yeah, whenever you're ready, let her rip.
Speaker 4: All right, let's see if it all work.

Speaker 3: Lid Liquor. This is called one Drop at a Time.
Speaker 3: And then when we come back, we're gonna talk with
Speaker 3: a Here it comes.
Speaker 4: Now you want they came to.
Speaker 6: Create a day with everything on my place.
Speaker 3: Give me to once drop at a time.
Speaker 8: Don't stop, you're almost said.
Speaker 5: On that line the second gather almost sing the podcast one.
Speaker 8: Job adver time, don't stop, You're almost there.

Speaker 7: And I think not that?
Speaker 8: I what drop that time?
Speaker 7: Don't stop?
Speaker 8: You're almost.
Speaker 6: A snail.
Speaker 3: All right? That is one Drop at a Time. The
Speaker 3: album is Lid Liquor, and we have Aaron Billdo here
Speaker 3: with us live in studio, who just played live. Let
Speaker 3: me get those uh oh, Aaron's got to get something.
Speaker 3: But yeah, we're gonna we're gonna talk with Aaron. And
Speaker 3: of course for those of you who are listening live,
Speaker 3: if you if you are only listening and you do
Speaker 3: not happen to see the video of this. You should,
Speaker 3: I suggest you go and check it out because Aaron
Speaker 3: has brought Ah, I assume a Martian with them who
Speaker 3: is dancing dancing during this set. But let me get
Speaker 3: those mics up because uh and by the way, you're
Speaker 3: getting some very positive feedback in the chat room Loud Entertainment.
Speaker 3: Larry from Loud Entertainment says the little Martian while in
Speaker 3: costume free entry to any Loud Entertainment shows love it.
Speaker 3: Jenny's in the chatroom and was also really enjoying that.
Speaker 3: Also sepsis in the chat room. Hello, and and some
Speaker 3: of our other friends in there be Pinart is in
Speaker 3: the chat room and hello to everybody. So Aaron, Oh
Speaker 3: what have you got there?
Speaker 4: I got my tea sheet.
Speaker 3: Oh okay, I'm gonna put the put the camera on you.
Speaker 3: Oh and the alien too, Yes, I've your Mica on
Speaker 3: as well. Now, by the way, I do have to ask,
Speaker 3: as a practical matter, in terms of the alien, are
Speaker 3: we in any danger?
Speaker 4: I don't think so. Okay, she hasn't done anything weird
Speaker 4: yet except for that.
Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I can't I can't understand her, but.
Speaker 4: I can't either. But maybe for all we know, she
Speaker 4: just follows me around for all we know.
Speaker 3: Though, See, here's the problem. She could be talking about
Speaker 3: how you know, her Martians or whoever are going.
Speaker 4: To come, and you could be asking for help, and
Speaker 4: we're interpreting it as jud.
Speaker 3: Well I was thinking something more sinister. I mean, you know,
Speaker 3: she could be planning to destroy us. There could be
Speaker 3: there could be an invasion underway. And I noticed how
Speaker 3: she reacted when I said that. She seemed excited by
Speaker 3: the idea of destroying us.
Speaker 4: Yeah, you could be like the Silver Surfer and telling
Speaker 4: telling us destructions is on it on its way.
Speaker 3: Yeah. So that so that's deeply concerning. But if that
Speaker 3: is in fact, what ends up happening. Just remember everybody,
Speaker 3: you heard it here first on Matt con Unleashed. So
Speaker 3: very good, very good.
Speaker 4: I have Oh yes, I have stickers for you and Jenny.
Speaker 3: Oh wonderful, Jenny love stickers.
Speaker 4: Is you know so I don't I don't have any
Speaker 4: new T shirts. I just got the same old T shirts.
Speaker 3: We'll put the camera back on me for a moment
Speaker 3: so I can hold the whole bag of full bag
Speaker 3: of stickers here. That's awesome, Thank you. Yes, wonderful, wonderful. Oh, yes,
Speaker 3: you're on. I don't know what you're saying, but h
Speaker 3: but I almost don't want to it could be very frightening.
Speaker 3: So well, very good, very good. So tell us about
Speaker 3: the album. Tell us about Lid Liquor.
Speaker 4: All right, Lid Liquor is my first album that I've
Speaker 4: done one hundred percent all by myself. I didn't have
Speaker 4: any help. I didn't have any guests musicians this time around. None,
Speaker 4: none at all.
Speaker 6: Wow.
Speaker 4: Okay, No, I did the whole thing myself, and I
Speaker 4: wanted to try something different from everything else I've done
Speaker 4: so far, so I went for the Oregon Trio distorted
Speaker 4: bass sound. Yeah you know, yeah, I said, bunch of
Speaker 4: rules at the beginning of the album. I usually do
Speaker 4: that at the beginning of each album. Set a bunch
Speaker 4: of rules uh to follow and uh stay by and
Speaker 4: it kind of like it changes the album and it
Speaker 4: crafts it like that weird way that you're looking for.
Speaker 3: Do you find that doing that doing it that way,
Speaker 3: like setting rules? Does it help you? Because I would
Speaker 3: imagine when you're doing see I've never done anything like that,
Speaker 3: but I would imagine when you're doing something all yourself
Speaker 3: where it's literally all you. It's probably easy to get
Speaker 3: distracted or kind of wander off into different directions with
Speaker 3: it as you're going and maybe get away from your
Speaker 3: original vision.
Speaker 7: Does it?
Speaker 4: Also, like in my past work, I've I've used everything
Speaker 4: I could find under the sun. Yeah, you know, synthesizers,
Speaker 4: special effects, contact mics, just like, uh everything, you know,
Speaker 4: all these different sounds, anything I could think of, anything
Speaker 4: I could find I used to use i've in the past. Yeah,
Speaker 4: And I didn't want that. I didn't want a bunch
Speaker 4: of samples. I wanted something that would be like more
Speaker 4: attractive towards other musicians to come and play with me
Speaker 4: because I've been trying to build a live band. I've
Speaker 4: been trying to build a live band for a long time,
Speaker 4: and I was trying to do that in my last album.
Speaker 4: And I had my friend Jason on drums, but he
Speaker 4: doesn't want to go out live, okay, you know, so
Speaker 4: like that's why I didn't have him on the new album. Really,
Speaker 4: that's like the only reason I didn't have because I
Speaker 4: wanted anybody I was I was searching for a drummer,
Speaker 4: so like I wanted it to be open in case
Speaker 4: I found one while I was during the recording session.
Speaker 4: Because this took me two years to make this. Wow,
Speaker 4: that way longer than anything else I've ever done. You know,
Speaker 4: it's it's way more minimalist, but it took me so
Speaker 4: much longer.
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, is it?
Speaker 7: Uh?
Speaker 3: Is it something that you think you'll do again? Like, like,
Speaker 3: I don't know if you're already thinking ahead to the
Speaker 3: next album.
Speaker 4: With the I don't know. See. Okay, So I found
Speaker 4: a drummer. Yes, it's not her though, No, no, no,
Speaker 4: I don't think she plays any instruments. Just oh right right,
Speaker 4: you know, yeah, yeah, I might give her a shaker
Speaker 4: or something sometimes.
Speaker 3: Sure, sure, okay, you know, but yeah, I thought I.
Speaker 4: Found a drummer. I've been playing with him for the
Speaker 4: past couple of months, and the sounds already changing. Oh
Speaker 4: really yeaeah, so like I have no idea what it's
Speaker 4: gonna sound like moving forward.
Speaker 3: Oh, by the way, you're getting some love in the
Speaker 3: chat from Adam Jocelyn of course, from the band Avid Blood.
Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, yeah, Adam, he's a.
Speaker 4: Good friend of mine. Yeah yeah, yeah, I felt so.
Speaker 4: I filmed a video for this album, The Passenger, that song,
Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, yeah, I filmed a video at Adam's house.
Speaker 4: Oh okiddy, Yeah, so that like that cool like airplane
Speaker 4: hangar thing that he has. Yeah, that's at his house.
Speaker 3: Oh no, kiddy, Oh very cool, very cool.
Speaker 4: Where is that temple somewhere out there?
Speaker 3: Okay?
Speaker 4: Out west?
Speaker 3: Is that is that up by Keane?
Speaker 4: Like in like so I'm in Milford, So it's like
Speaker 4: I would say, it's like in between Keen and Milfi.
Speaker 3: Okayay, okay, gotcha, gotcha? And then so what how has
Speaker 3: the live situation been becau is? Obviously what you're doing
Speaker 3: is unique with your your whole setup and everything. Have
Speaker 3: you been playing out?
Speaker 4: Oh yeah, I've been playing tons of shows. I just
Speaker 4: played Illinois Show. Oh yeah last week? Oh yeah, yeah yeah, yeah,
Speaker 4: you know, I played everywhere like I played the Button Factory.
Speaker 4: I've played, uh where if I played. I've just played
Speaker 4: a lot of shows. Yeah I don't, but I don't
Speaker 4: have anything planned for moving forward for a while. I yeah, uh,
Speaker 4: I got I got Terminus in October, okay, and then
Speaker 4: I'm I'm putting on Okay, so I'm putting on a
Speaker 4: show myself that I'm not going to play and unless
Speaker 4: I have to, it's called thank you bass player. Oh
Speaker 4: there is a sticker in there. Uh that packet that
Speaker 4: glows in the dark. Really that says yeah, thank you
Speaker 4: bass player on it. See.
Speaker 3: I like that kind of thing because I'm a bass
Speaker 3: player anymore.
Speaker 4: But I knew you had appreciate it.
Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely, I gotta find this and and uh, I
Speaker 3: gotta find this. Oh yes, basically, so I'm gonna put
Speaker 3: the camera back for those watching on video.
Speaker 4: Yeah, this is big.
Speaker 3: You can see the sticker there. Oh, very cool.
Speaker 6: I like that.
Speaker 4: I actually just got a bunch of shirts in the
Speaker 4: mail for that.
Speaker 3: Like, well, because you have you have a whole series
Speaker 3: on YouTube right right, So that that's what it was.
Speaker 4: It was a series on YouTube last year in twenty five. Yeah,
Speaker 4: that I was doing it, and the month of November
Speaker 4: was dedicated to bass players and I called it thank
Speaker 4: You bass Player. And I had nine bass players like
Speaker 4: twice a week, yep, for the whole month. So every
Speaker 4: Wednesday and Saturday, I posted a song from a different
Speaker 4: person or or or a few songs. Yeah, like Darryl
Speaker 4: Barnes played like three songs, you know, there was a
Speaker 4: few people that played more than one. But every every
Speaker 4: Wednesday and every Saturday, I had a different bass player
Speaker 4: come and perform, and I filmed it and edited it
Speaker 4: all together and posted it edit like I was working
Speaker 4: on it for almost like I would say, almost a year. Yeah,
Speaker 4: maybe maybe eight months before before November.
Speaker 3: It's really good. I encourage people to check it out.
Speaker 4: It took a long time. Yeah, but I don't I
Speaker 4: don't have access to that particular space before that I
Speaker 4: was using for the studio.
Speaker 3: Yeah.
Speaker 4: So to h I figured, like, I do a live event.
Speaker 4: Oh so I'm doing a thank you bass player live
Speaker 4: September nineteenth at the Spot in Nashville.
Speaker 1: Oh wow.
Speaker 4: Yeah. It kind of start at six o'clock and I
Speaker 4: have eight bass players okay, uh, and they're all they're
Speaker 4: all going to be doing twenty minute sets. Some of
Speaker 4: them are bringing a drummer. A lot of them are
Speaker 4: cheating and bringing a drummer. But that's okay.
Speaker 3: Yeah.
Speaker 4: I had I had a lot of like really strict
Speaker 4: rules on the internet show. Really yeah, and I'm like
Speaker 4: way more open to this, like I don't care, like, uh,
Speaker 4: they weren't allowed to do covers before, they weren't allowed
Speaker 4: to bring other people, like some some people you don't
Speaker 4: wanted to bring guitar players some people want, you know,
Speaker 4: and yeah, I mean that's cool like for like a like,
Speaker 4: because that was on another show called Live from the
Speaker 4: Chateau Billadeau Studio. Oh yes, yeah, I was doing that
Speaker 4: for like a year and a half and that was
Speaker 4: every single week. Yeah, sixty three episodes they did, and
Speaker 4: I was doing that. So the Thank You bass Player
Speaker 4: was just a segment.
Speaker 3: Yeah.
Speaker 4: I had all kinds of bands and duos and trios
Speaker 4: come in as a guest so on that one. Yeah,
Speaker 4: but uh so I'm having the show. I got eight
Speaker 4: bass players because I just don't want to mess up
Speaker 4: their names, all right. I got Tim Ducett starting. I
Speaker 4: got Jason Skulls you know him. Of course I'm dead
Speaker 4: Harris Well, yeah, I got h forgive me if I
Speaker 4: messed this up. Kelsey bramag him, okay, okay. Michael Mendonza
Speaker 4: and he oh yeah, yeah. He was from Atlanta Corvette
Speaker 4: what is else. He's in Boom Lava and he's uh,
Speaker 4: he's very active in the Manchester James scene. Let's see here.
Speaker 4: I got Nathan Sonnel from the Faith and Band. I
Speaker 4: got Christopher Beaton, you know you know who that is
Speaker 4: from the turbocats. Of course. Let's see here. I got
Speaker 4: Shane McWilliams and I got John Clifford.
Speaker 3: Okay, you know that's great. That's a great lineup.
Speaker 4: Yeah. So it's gonna be a good show. And I'm
Speaker 4: not gonna be playing this one, I don't think. I mean,
Speaker 4: if one of them, you know, doesn't make it for
Speaker 4: whatever reason, then I'll be prepared to play. Okay, but
Speaker 4: I'm gonna be hosting the Night you know, presented by.
Speaker 3: Aaron Billoo, and that is September nineteenth.
Speaker 4: September nineteenth at the Spot at the same it's a
Speaker 4: free show. We're taking donations. If you want to give donations,
Speaker 4: I'll just whatever we get. We're gonna split it up
Speaker 4: between the musicians. I'm gonna have T shirts there, I
Speaker 4: got stickers, and you know, I'm really hoping to be
Speaker 4: able to do this every year. If I can't do
Speaker 4: the show, I want to at least do the live show.
Speaker 4: Right that's not Mike can really do. Oh yeah, yeah, absolutely,
Speaker 4: So that's that. Yeah, that's that's excellent. Who did you have?
Speaker 3: Like some of these people I assume were you pad
Speaker 3: on the thank you base.
Speaker 4: Most of them were guests, on the Thank You bass Player.
Speaker 4: That bringing back okay, bringing it back, Yeah, that bringing
Speaker 4: back so some of some of them, let's see, like
Speaker 4: so Tim, Jason, Kelsey, Michael, Uh, Chrispy, these are all people.
Speaker 4: John Clifford he was like John Clifford was the first
Speaker 4: one really to uh come and do my show.
Speaker 3: Yeah all right, well very good. So so you're gonna
Speaker 3: bring it back on YouTube as well, that is what
Speaker 3: you're saying.
Speaker 4: Or no, no, well I'm going to post the show, okay, gotcha.
Speaker 4: So like this year, it's only going to be one
Speaker 4: episode of Thank You bass Player, the live live episode,
Speaker 4: you know.
Speaker 3: Or or if you've got eight bass players, it could
Speaker 3: be right, I will be splitting it all up.
Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, you know.
Speaker 3: Yeah. Oh that's fantastic.
Speaker 4: Good for you, Thank you, Good for you.
Speaker 3: September nineteenth at the Spot, The Spot.
Speaker 4: This is great non alcoholic kava bar, all ages. Yep,
Speaker 4: it doesn't matter if you have aliens, it doesn't matter
Speaker 4: who you are, right, They're very welcoming there.
Speaker 3: Right right, all inclusive? Yeah, very good. Now when is
Speaker 3: your next show that you're playing live?
Speaker 2: You?
Speaker 4: Like I said, so I might I might get like
Speaker 4: some gigs coming in you know there's some festivals that
Speaker 4: have Yeah, like I apply to everything. I apply to
Speaker 4: everything that's out there undo the time. I'm always pretty open,
Speaker 4: yeah and available. But so I don't have any gigs
Speaker 4: until October tenth at the at Terminus. Oh okay, I
Speaker 4: can't remember all the bands. One of the band is
Speaker 4: called the Magic Thinking eep.
Speaker 3: Oh really I'd be.
Speaker 4: Playing with yeah and there I think they on them
Speaker 4: like Rhode Island or Connecticut or something down south.
Speaker 3: Okay, okay there, yeah, very good, very good. Are is
Speaker 3: anyone ever surprised? Like have you ever played a show
Speaker 3: where you book the show and then you show up
Speaker 3: with your your whole setup and and uh maybe the
Speaker 3: owner of the manager of the place is like like
Speaker 3: not that.
Speaker 4: No, Like the people at the venue, like whoever booked
Speaker 4: me know what they're getting? Usually right, right, you know,
Speaker 4: it's the surprise is usually from like you know, the patreons. Yeah, yeah,
Speaker 4: the people that are just there right, you know. Like, So,
Speaker 4: I like, I like to videotape everything. I like to
Speaker 4: film everything, and I usually bring two three cameras. Uh
Speaker 4: so you always you put care I put cameras in
Speaker 4: the back of the room on the side of the
Speaker 4: room and you pick up people talking about you. Oh yeah,
Speaker 4: and that's that's where you hear people are surprised. They
Speaker 4: they're like, it's just a guy with a base. Yeah,
Speaker 4: that's what I That's what I usually hear.
Speaker 3: That's fun.
Speaker 4: It's just a guy with a base. You know, I
Speaker 4: don't know what he's gonna do.
Speaker 3: Oh, that's that's cool though, that's really cool.
Speaker 4: Yeah.
Speaker 3: You must have people who who come up to you
Speaker 3: afterward and they're like, wow, that you know, I didn't
Speaker 3: expect that. Yeah, that was that was more than I
Speaker 3: thought it was gonna be.
Speaker 4: People generally like it. Yeah, yeah, you know when I
Speaker 4: when I when I can get a crowd, you know,
Speaker 4: that's the hard part, you know, getting people out. When
Speaker 4: I do like people genuinely, Like everybody comes up and
Speaker 4: talks to me afterwards, and they all like it, and
Speaker 4: they're surprised, and they tell me the songs that they like. Yeah,
Speaker 4: I'm always surprised because like I'm thinking, like, oh, it's
Speaker 4: gonna be the Passenger is going to be the song,
Speaker 4: and everybody likes mister Greenpeace Live.
Speaker 3: Yep.
Speaker 4: You know, so yeah, I don't know. You never know, right, right,
Speaker 4: the public's gonna pick it now?
Speaker 3: Are you when you play live?
Speaker 4: Now?
Speaker 3: Are you just playing stuff from the new album? Are
Speaker 3: you still play?
Speaker 4: It depends on how long my set is. Yeah, you know,
Speaker 4: so if it's uh, if it's like thirty five minutes,
Speaker 4: I'm just playing the album okay. If it's anything over,
Speaker 4: I'm going to put in other tracks. Gotcha all the hits? Yeah?
Speaker 3: And does anything ever go wrong with this this whole Yeah, they're.
Speaker 4: So like okay of course last so I uh, and
Speaker 4: today's setup, I barely I heard the backing track. Something
Speaker 4: was wrong. I couldn't get the volume up. At one
Speaker 4: point they were completely off, so I was only playing
Speaker 4: so the Passenger. I didn't hear the song at all.
Speaker 7: Oh.
Speaker 4: I didn't hear the song. I didn't hear my bass,
Speaker 4: I didn't hear the vocals. All I heard while playing
Speaker 4: The Passenger today was the click.
Speaker 3: Oh no kidding, So.
Speaker 4: I had to just play it in the click and
Speaker 4: that's it and count in my head.
Speaker 8: Wow.
Speaker 4: So I'm gonna hear it later on when I go
Speaker 4: home for the first time. Because so that's some stuff
Speaker 4: that went wrong. My g string was completely out of
Speaker 4: to it. It was all stepped up. Yeah, so like
Speaker 4: that was throwing me way off, especially at the end.
Speaker 3: Oh yeah, you got it out though, you got through it.
Speaker 4: Yeah, the show must go on. You gotta you just
Speaker 4: gotta go through it. You can't really stop. Yeah, and
Speaker 4: you know, don't apologize.
Speaker 3: Do you ever have you ever done a show where
Speaker 3: everything goes just just flawless.
Speaker 4: Where like, no, not one, not one. Really there's always something.
Speaker 4: There's always something always with all that is, there's so
Speaker 4: many cables. One of them is broken along the way. Well,
Speaker 4: I've forgotten power supplies to my mixer, which completely shuts
Speaker 4: everything down. So I was at another show, Uh what
Speaker 4: is it? Uh down in Cambridge. I was at a
Speaker 4: radio station down in Cambridge and uh uh Somerville was
Speaker 4: Somerville And I forgot the mixer cable and Joel h
Speaker 4: had a power supply for me. Really it worked, Oh wow,
Speaker 4: and he came through for me. It blew my mind
Speaker 4: because I thought the whole like I drove all the
Speaker 4: way down there.
Speaker 3: Yep.
Speaker 4: Uh, the radio show segment was about to start. That
Speaker 4: show is like, uh I played for forty five minutes.
