twenty twenty four, and I am not alone. Jend Good morning, sunshine.
Jenny is here at the news table, the table which resembles my table,
so I feel very comfortable. I have the same table. Yes,
yes, this is only our What is this our third fourth show here at
the new studio third right, third, I think, yeah, our third
week here we're still babies at Canal Street. Love this, yeah, absolutely,
so it's so awesome and cleaning here. I love it absolutely. We
have a great guest. Jesse Coffee is here that let me bring that Mike
up. I don't know he has the same last name. You're dare you
probably related somehow, sir, that's what That's what she tells me. Yeah,
this is your Yeah, and this is your Is this your third time
on the show or a second? I think it actually might be the third
time. I think I think probably your third. Yeah. Well, plus,
uh you made appearances on the podcast version of the show way back in
the day. Oh god, remember that, Yeah, back when I felt
a little bit less practy and you were actually you were podcasting back then a
little bit too, right, I remember. I think we still have those
recordings. Oh absolutely, yeah. It so much has changed from that point.
I know. I didn't want to go back to hear all you no,
no, and I'm sure he doesn't either, but it all still exists.
Yes, yes, the archives. Nothing on the internet ever actually goes
away now once it's there. Jesse brought his guitar and he's gonna play for
us and we're gonna talk a little bit. We'll get to that in a
couple of minutes. Also too, coming up in the third hour today at
eleven am, we've got Ricky Mapleton returning and he's got some Now I'm not
a sports fan, as you know, but he's got a bunch of new
songs about sports, and I do like the songs very much. So he'll
be he'll be he is, Yeah, no, he's Uh. Actually it'll
be his third time on the show, but his first time here in this
Uh. In the new digs. You should get special jackets, right,
isn't that what you do at like five get jacket? Uh? That's essen
l Yeah, not for here. I don't think. I don't think we
have the budget for jackets. I want a shirt? What a shirt?
You get shirts? Yeah? Well maybe at some point we'll have new shirts.
Who knows. Don't you paint? You could paint the shirt? Yeah,
why don't you pay the shirt? Yeah? I don't think what they
made us do in like elementary school, you'd like stop it? No?
Yeah, I think you still have some of those painted church somewhere deep within
the Hope chests. Oh yes, I do have. I actually have a
cutout of you when you were It rolls out you made it in No,
you made it at pre school. It's in there so you may recreate like
a murder scene. I guess maybe. Yeah, they traced all of you
kids and they made these little miniature us and it's rolled up in the hope
chest memory. Weird. This is why I never had this. This is
why I never had children, because all kinds of weird stuff happens. Nothing
weird about that I kept just do you see why I'm weird. No,
the apple did not fall off from the tree. Uh. By the way,
so before we get rolling, we should mention. Uh, we did
something. A couple of days ago we visited the Mosaic Art Collective. We
did? Or why were we there to drop off my painting to be hung
on the gallery wall? Mm hmm ah. That's so insanely cool your first
one. I couldn't stop grinning, like it was amazing just to be able
to go there and be like, I'm leaving a piece of me here and
it really and now I feel kind of naked now that now it's like,
oh my god, it's going to be on this wall. People are going
to be looking at it. What did they all hate it? No?
No, I'm nervy. I'm nervy. But yeah, that was a lot
of fun. I love that place, I really do. Me The getting
to hear Abner the second there was phenomenal to me. I just loved the
room myself as a place to listen to him was just perfect. So yeah,
and the art show is next weekend on the tenth, from four pm
to eight pm. Is the show opening for the All Hats Status Show,
which is what I am a part of arts All Hearts Status Show. What
did I say, hats? I said, hats looking at your hat?
Oh okay, I'm wearing might be a hero hat. Yeah, yes,
you are wearing your be a hero hates and I like it because you try
to be a hero. I try. Ah. But yes, the opening
of the All Hearts Status Show is going to be next Saturday at the time
four to eight pm. I will be there. I hope to see many
of you there. I would be honored by your presence at my first show.
Nervous, hell, yeah, terrified. There's a lot of amazing,
like the art. The last time we went, I was looking around and
I'm like, I, I can't hang on the walls with these people,
like, yeah, this is way beyond me. It's just yeah, it's
it's scary. It's scary. It's a part of myself that's going to be
in a place of judgment. Almost I'm not judgment I shouldn't say it that
way, but yeah, it is people go to galleries and they look and
they judge, and it's like are they gonna like it? Do I fit
in? Or are they going? Why is that there? Well, when
they were here, they were here for our first show here in the new
studio, and they were talking about the process. What is it. It's
it's three of them and they you have judge. Yeah, you submit your
work to be juried and if you make it through the juried product process,
then you're a part of the gallery for that show. Yeah. So,
and each show has a different theme, like they just announced a new one
I believe it's for April, which is Rock Paper Scissors and it's a mixed
media art show that's going to be going on. So people who love to
do mixed media, this might be something you might want to get involved with.
And you can go to the Mosaic Art Collective dot com. You can
see the upcoming events and if you would like to, you can submit your
work to be juried for an upcoming show. Yep, yeah, so that's
going to be So the show is the tenth from four to eight pm.
Yes, and it's right on Hanover Street, right above the Palace Theater.
Yeah, it's right in the Oh goodness, what let me, I can't
remember the Oh it's in the Daily Mirror building. Yeah, which is sixty
six Hanover Street. It's in Sweet two oh one. I encourage you to
go there. It's an amazing it's an amazing piece of gallery in the city.
The more and deeper I get involved, the more excited I get at
how much is really there in the city that I have just not known,
are not been aware of. And we have an incredible amount of art in
our city and music, and it's just we're really lucky in this area to
have so much. Well, it's like we're always talking about, you know,
and we talk about it a lot with music and more recently with visual
art because of Mosaic and you know, having them on the show. It's
like there's there's a lot more going going on in terms of art and you
know, music, music of course being art as well, and that then
a lot of people probably realize, and it's just a matter of engaging a
little bit and getting out there or just going online and looking at what's going
on, you know, and there's so much creativity going on around us.
I love the uniqueness of the venue because you have the arts, the visual
arts and the but you also have the musical arts. Every month they bring
in musicians yea, and you can enjoy you know, independent artists while you're
looking at beautiful pieces of art. So it's really nea a unique venue to
the city. Yeah. On the seventeenth, February seventeenth, they've got another
big, big show that will be at obviously yes, oh absolutely, A
Day Without Love. Yeah, on February seventeenth, the doors are going to
open at six forty five twenty one. Plus if you get advanced tickets at
ten dollars a piece online, just go to Mosaic Artcollective dot com. Absolutely
very good, very good. So we're gonna get to Jesse in a moment.
I just want to say hello everybody in the Facebook live chat, our
loyal listeners. Oh g. Girl Jackie Brown is in the Facebook live chat,
says good morning from the Icy Show, the online show that she does.
B Pinardo joins us and says good morning everyone. Also, we have

Of course, our great friend joins us and says good morning. Melanie
Liberty from the Great State of Vermont says, hey, guys, I promise
to stay on the rails today. I don't know if we believe that one.
We like you off the rails, Melanie. We like uh, we
like a challenge. We like yeah, yeah, we like uh. We
like when there's some interesting things going on in the chat room. My favorite
thing about the chat room is when something goes on so interesting that I have
to go back and look at all the comments I missed during the live show.
I think that's fun. And Jay Fed of course from the Great State
of Vermont obviously as well. Hello, and you can join us in there
to interact with the program, or we do have a live studio line of
course six oh three two five six seven. If you have any questions or
feedback at all for our guests, Jesse Coffee, who's going to play for

but you can also call us live six O three two five six seven.
Hello to Tom Blanchard in the Facebook live chat, says Hi, Matt
and Jenny, Hello Tom. One other thing to our amazing sponsor, the
Hopnot I believe tonight. Uh, they've got a big event. I think
it's tonight. I'm double checking the website. The they've got another gender blender.
Oh that is tonight. Yes, let's see. It starts at ten
pm. And those are very popular events there, and you want to show
up. You want to make sure you get there kind of early because they
tend to fill up and when they do, uh you know, they they
can't let anybody else in. So but but those are a lot of fun.
So that is tonight at the hopnot beginning at ten pm. And uh,
let's see. Well, so Jesse, do you want to Now you've
got obviously you do some cover songs and uh, but you also you have
an original write a brand new original song. I do, Yeah, did
you want to? Why don't we have you play a cover first? Though,
because that way I can I do need to warm up a little bit.
I don't usually sing this earlier. Yeah, yeah, that's what I
was singing, and that and that'll that'll be. That'll give me a chance
to well, we'll kind of treat it as a live sound check because I
can fix. I can ride the faders a little bit to make sure the
mix is good. And one sip of coffee, so that that's that's asking
a lot. Yeah yeah, well what uh what are you gonna play for
us for? Uh? Figure something? Start up a little upbeat before going
something a little slower. Uh, it's better days by Citizen King. All
right, very good? Yeah? Why not? All right? Here he
is Jesse Coffee. Did we any any now you are related? Right,
we talked about that. I'm still trying to figure that out. Well we'll
let you know. Yeah, very good, Jesse Coffee, live in studio.
In my shoes, my toes are busted. In the kitchen says,
my bread is molding. I got a good job at the dollar store.
One foot in the hole, worn foot getting deeper, with a broken mirror
and a blown out speaker, and and I ain't got much absolutes. I'm
feeded, black, busted, been cheated. I've been dusted. I know
that I've seen batter days. One foot in the whole, worn foot getting
deeper, drank at two eleven, blown on the speaker in. I ain't
got I ain't got my flues, and I've seen better days. I'm in
the star of many place. I've seen better days, and the bottom drops
out, I've seen batter days. I'm in the store a many place.
I've seen better days, and the bottom drops sound. Now my guff's filled
up with five buck one. I find myself here all the time, another
rib in the glass, and on the chip in my tooth, rained on.
I've been stained on, founding on the goat. I tried to put
the blame on, and now I'm stepping on all the cracks, so against
the ring. No use, because I've seen better days. I've been in
the star of many place. I've seen better days, and the bottom drops
out. I've seen better days. I've been the star of many place.
I've seen better days. In the bottom drops sound check it, check it,
check it out, and been like last second hand, like Glorie missed
the bus bottom in no hurry, molasses fast, no business born, one
foot in the hall, one foot getting deeper, ranking two eleven blown on
the speaker hand. I God ain't come up, Looscus. I've seen better
days. I've been the star of many place. I've seen better days,
and the bottom drops out. I've seen better days, been the star of
many plays. I've seen better days. I've seen better days. I know
that I've seen better days. I've been stuff love so many plays, knocked
on the edge with that bobo way because I know I know that I've seen
better better days. Very nice, very nice. We have Jesse Coffee live
in studio with us. Uh yeah, I mean you know this early in
the morning. You sound pretty good. Yeah, your voice, it sounds
sounds pretty opened up, stretching it out. That's great. That's great,
like doing yoga. Yeah, there you go, there you go. Who
do that song? Citizen King, Citizen Kane, King King King King,
Citizen Kane is the movie you know, which is I'm sure where they got
the name from, but a derivative of uh, hello, hello to Isaac
Banks, our friends from North Wait, no, hey, how do you
get this wrong? Greensboro, North North Carolina. Finally showing up. I
was wondering if they were going to follow us a Saturdays. He says,
good morning. Hashtag Matt Conderton and hashtag gen coffee. Good morning, Jesse
Coffee, go for it? Uh hashtag Matt Connorton. This is Isaac Banks,
a k A. Iichman Breezy, and I am lead singer vocals of
a pop singing group quartet called En Saturn I Sing and Dance. I picked
the name of my singing group of En Saturn. Yes, yes, we
know all this. We remember you, we remember you, we love you
too. And uh, of course U jy fed never believes that it's really
Isaac Banks. So there's already already hashtag arguing over that hashtag Isaac. Oh
are they gonna fight again? I think they already are. Oh, I
think they already are. Yes, yes, Uh, well, if you're
just joining us, we do have Jesse Coffee with us live in studio.
And yeah, you want to play it? You sound great? You want
to play another one? Oh? Why not? I'll slow it down a
bit and go a little out of the genre I normally don't play. And
I learned this. Have a couple of friends that I like to harass me
when I go over their place and like, hey, you should sing this,
and then they make me sing without a guitar, which I hate,
except for karaoke that there's something different about karaoke. So it's a it's a
country song. It is better as a duet, I would say. But
I'm gonna try and sound as pretty as I feel. Maybe your maybe your
mom can sing with you if he knows the Zach Bryan song. You know,
not prepared? Oh okay, I would need to do that with him
out of the thousands thousands listening. No niceee okay, Jesse coffee live in
studio, So technical difficulties, no worries. Okay, there you go.
Rock cut whist is gonna ease my mind? Beach towel rests on the drying
line. Do I remind you of your daddy and his dady? A thorn
the labbordor hanging out the passenger doing saying from your hair is blowing in my
eyes, blaming on the beach. Don't then, don't cry? Do I
remember that beach down the basement couch singing my love songs. You need to
tell me about how your mama ran off and pondering. I remember, I
remember everything. Don't shudder. At closing time, you will beckon me to
stay till the sun rose. Strange words come on out of a grown man's
mouth and his mind's broke. The pictures in passing time, you all smile
a lot back when you drinking. I don't wish I didn't bought. I
do remember every morning when the nuts with him, you're drinking everything just to
ease your mind. But when the hell are you gonna ease mind? Got
concrete feet in the summer, he the birds, I he went too songs
more. No, you'll never be the man that you onways saw. I
remember you singing in that eighty eight born gold Shoulder It closing times. You
were begging me to say till the sun roams. Strange words come on out
of a grown man's mouth when it's brine's broke, the pictures in passing time.
You only fire that time and drinking. I don't wish it didn't,
but I do remember every moment in the nights with him gold Shoulder and closing
time, and it would fifty estaye till the summer roads. Strange words come
on out of a grown man's mouth when it's mine's broke. Pictures and passing
time. You want to see a lad drink and we should be. But
I do remember every morning on the next with you Rock good Wish, he's
going on. He's my mind beach rests on the drying line. I remind
you of your daddy in his eighty eight phone Laborador hanging out the passenger door.
Jesse co with us live in studio. That's awesome. That was awesome.
Well well done, well done. Now we should mention, uh,
now we should talk a little bit about where you work because you do a
lot of events there right, a lot of Oh definitely, I love it.
Yeah, so I work at you might have heard of it, you
might have seen to be around at a Great North Ale. We're located on
ten to fifteen. I d I got around ten to fifty. Please don't
kill me, Lisa. I've never been asked to give directions, so that
also helps. I just kind of know where I'm driving. But we also
have lovely signs to direct you and you drive down there. That's a street
that's kind of off where Candy Road is if you're familiar in that area.
But they've been around for eight years. They have a lot of popular beers
like tied I, RVP IPA Trail, Juice, Grateful North. There there's
a whole bunch and We also have a lot of special ones that you want
to get, you have to come there to get. In terms of events,
we have tons of stuff that happens all the time, like today,
especially for music from four to six. We're the Upright Dogs playing for us,
very popular duo. They're awesome, wicked fun. They play songs of
all decades. So we always have live music every Saturday between four to six.
On Thursdays other than I think it's the third Thursday of the month,
we always have an event. So the first Thursday is always cribbage Night.
It starts right around like six six thirty. I want to say where people
start to sign up around six kind of get it going around six point thirty.
We alternate between singles and doubles. So next month will be a singles
month. The next Thursday, which is something that I host. Coming up
next week is a video game night. We've been alternating right now between Mario
Kart and Super Smash Brothers on the Switch. This one is going to be
Smash Brothers because of course, what's better to do the week before Valentine's Day
than get into a fight with the person you love? Oh, you know
perfect right? I know someone out there is going boo, probably the people
at Hallmark. But on the end of the month, on Thursday, we
also have in person trivia from Dulphoitt Presents, always a fantastically fun time.
It's actually something to stay open a little bit even later for. And that
goes from seven to nine and it's we do it classic too, No phones,
none of that. It's all on paper. You gotta bet some points
in there between points systems from one to three, five and seven, so
if you really know it, throw the seven in. If you don't know
it, that's where your one pointer comes in. So it's really fun.
But events all the time, we host private events. There's funny. I
could continue going on saying, but it's a very fun atmosphere, very relaxed
area, great space in the tasting room, and once the patio starts getting
opened back up, we do allow dogs on the patio so you can have
your beer and your buddy all at the same time and fun, very nice,
very nice. And where is that again, It's in Manche. You
know what, I'm gonna do my due diligence so I'm not screwing up.
I was thank you because I could tell because I just looked up and left.
Thank you. See ten fifty I was, and I thought fifteen and
fifty. When you pull in there, you'll see a sign that says bingo.
Go past that sign and right on the last one on the left is
the Great North al War. Let me usually have a fun little parking thing
that says, hey, parking for the Brewers, so you'll know when you're
there. Oh, very good. Yeah, they actually have it marked,
so you know, you know you're in the right spot. Very good if
you're just joining us. Jesse Coffee is with us Alive and studio and uh,
let's see. Uh we've got a lot of again, lot of a
lot of love. In the Facebook live chat, Melanie law Liberty is asking
if you play birthday parties. I will, well, his first actual public
thing was a wedding. Oh was it? Yeah? Yeah, but then
I played Don't Fear the Reaper and they you said, I shouldn't have played
that. Yeah, know that for a wedding, but they like the Blue
Oyster Cult. Yeah, it was just a little wrong. Pick I would
have gone young, I would have gone you were you would have gone with
Godzilla. That's that's my favorite. That's definitely my favorite. Yeah, yeah,
absolutely, Uh, let's see. Uh. Melanie says, hey,
Matt, did you notice the red thing on the mic, Babe makes it
look super dirty? Stop it? I did notice that. Isaac Banks says,
uh, Matt connorton, what's Jesse Coffee's favorite song by Matchbox twenty three
am? Or These Hard Times? Or rest Stop or bent? So he's
giving you four options for your favorite match Box twenties. Do you need me
to repeat the options? I'll just say three am, three am. Not
that I know how to play it. I just I think that's the only
one I really heard. Don't hate me, h j Fad says Jesse.
Have you ever considered the possibility of increasing the length of your beard. I've
never seen you with a big beard. He had a good, bushy one.
I mean, we all try to forget the COVID times, but that's
when I did it, and that's the only time that I might like.
The curly part of my hair shows in the beard. So I just,
oh, it got really curly. I hated it, but I have let
it go before I like it. Yeah, I don't want the reverse far
Oh it's not for me. I have grown it out. Sometimes they let
it go for a little bit, usually when I'm feeling like it. But
I've just been kind of enjoying the shorter beard for now. Yeah, Jason
believes all beards should be like zz Top. When they can look as good
as that, then I I would agree. Sure, there you go,
There you go. Melanie said, I didn't think you were going to read
that one. Let's see. Oh uh. Certain. Matthew Saviano, who
we know as Huey the Gecko, is in the Facebook live chat, and
Huey the Gecko says, you keep rocking that, don't fear the reaper.
That's a love song. Romeo and Juliet are together in Eternity, tough crowd.
I like it. Yeah, thank you. That is one understands that
that is a good He's got a good point, Huey the Gecko. Yeah,
let's see. Oh my goodness, oh jeez. Oh, Miriam says,
love it. Yeah, any of your music, Miriam? Really?
Uh? And Melody is accusing us of grand theft. Why she thinks that
we took the thermometer in the room from a pool. Oh no, speaking
of which, what is the temperature? Jesse? So that hasn't changed.
I think it's busted. Oh oh, maybe that might be there that consider
that that thermometer was given to the station. It was a gift kind of
to the station, but really to the morning show from our friend Brooklyn Mike.
Oh. He a few years ago he presented that, he presented that
to Peter White. Of course, the Morning Show with Peter White weekdays seven
to nine am, with a replay from two to four pm. But yeah,
he presented that one holiday season a few years ago to Peter and Uh
it's been a part of the station ever since. Tom Blanchard in the chat
says, good to see the sun. Enjoying your new show today, I'm
waiting for my old change to be done, trying to be trying to ignore
the misbehaving kids in the waiting room. Lol. Well, we're glad you're
We're glad you took us along. Tom. Uh. If you have any
questions or anything at all for our guests this morning, Jesse coffee. Uh,
the studio line has opened six three two five six seven. I I'm
very curious to hear the new original that you've written that I've never heard.
Yes, yes, I am super excited. I'm very curious to hear us.
Oh. Sure, Sorry I did that. Sorry, sorry, all
right, I'm a lefty and it's on the wrong side. Oh, Jay
bellow from uh of course, Chasing the Devil. Great band. We sometimes
we still have that song in rotation. Sometimes I spend that Beautiful Nightmare such
a great trap. Yeah, you know what, we'll play that at the
break today. Oh, that's a good idea. We'll play Beautiful Beautiful Nightmare
by Chasing the Devil at the break. That song is so stuck in my
head. It still just randomly pops into my head. And they're working on
more music too. We'll definitely get those guys back. But Jay says,
morning, peeps, love the show. Thank you, Jay, thank you,
appreciate it. Appreciate you whenever you're ready. Jesse, what's what's the
Oh yeah, Jay says, new songs coming to you soon. Awesome.
That is excellent to hear. H What what's the name of the song?
Cloudy Days, Cloudy Days? Yeah, all right, yeah, we'll give
it a whirl one all right, go for it, Cloudy Days, Jesse
Coffee Live in studio. Was that to mean to you, my dear?
Ah? You right now, loud and clear, My you're still that cost
and sign. It took me too on a realize I'm trying my best,
please to believe, to keep a good path free from me the rage and
still that cos and sign. Best believe Kyda get bye. Give me that
this is enough. I can't keep this up. I won't in this up.
No. No, I'm starting to see myselffer real been by for so
long again, appeal people around me streaming side because my actions I can't recide.
Give me slid that this is enough. No, I can't keep the
sort I won gave sup No, give me solid that this is enough.
No, I can't keepers how long damn this up? No? No?
Thank you? Very nice, gorgeous, very nice. Wow, I'm so
proud of you. That was gorgeous. Thanks Mom. Do you remember the
uh? I ask everyone this? I've probably asked you this before, but
do you remember the first song you ever wrote? Honestly? No, it
was probably when I was sixteen and embarrassed, and I just I knew I
was Probably It's part of why I didn't. I mean, I still hate
writing, but I'm doing it now. I'm kind of forcing it. I'm
at that point now, are you just got to do it? Yeah?
I think it's every artist. They always say it, like you hate hearing
yourself, you don't like hearing what you write and all that, And this
is the only one where I've been like I can deal with it in terms
of like if people like it or hate it. So it's it's it's a
journey. I'm excited to just go for at this point. So I'm hoping
to then, you know, next time, have a lot more written.
I have stuff that I'm working on. I'm just needing time to kind of
sit down, either write it out acoustically or not. And now you know,
I don't have like a studio, I don't have recording stuff, so
I'm I'm mostly just doing it in my head as I go, right,
And so that's kind of just how I've always written. Either do the lyrics
first, or I do the guitar part first, and then I think of
the melody in my head and then I just kind of write with it and
go with it. Yeah, are you playing out a lot or I've been
trying to. I don't have any gigs yet book me, but I've been
doing open mic at the shaskiing every Monday night because I learned that that was
happening. I'm sure someone had told me before, but I live under a
rock. But Hal Heavy actually is one who let me know because I ran
into him as Strange Brow and he comes all the time with Polly Stone.
So knowing that there's something on a Monday, which is perfect since it's my
day off, is great. And I hope I don't put your his last
name. But it's hosted by Scotti clout here. He is a awesome guitarist,
great Tom Petty cover guy as well, but he's a fantastic host,
super high energy, always positive, keeps the room going, and it's just
it's just a really fun, positive time. I see a lot of the
same people, whether they're playing or not playing, a lot of people just
go just simply to watch, which is really fun. So and I always
love the shasking. It's just one of my favorite, Like if I'm going
out, that's kind of my go to. Other other than Strange Crew,
there's just like those are my top picks. I like places that start with
the letter S. Apparently wasn't intentional, but right. Jay Bellow from Chasing
the Devil says, great job, Jesse, I appreciate it, Thank you.
Some love their Isaac's awesome clapping. And Ronda Faverro, one of our
great friends from the West Coast, California, says, Hi everyone, good
morning, Ronda and uh And by the way, Jesse, you mentioned a
couple of members of the w M and H family. Kyle Heavy, of
course, who hosts Off the Mark Sports here on Sunday mornings here live on
w M and H, and Polly Stone, who is of course Rob as
a Veto's co host on Granted State of Mind. Yes, and they feature
a lot of musicians from the area on Friday nights from six to seven pm
here on w M and H. I forget how long it was when I
did a grand Estate of mine once. Oh right, maybe it was a
may but it was a blast. Yeah. You guys are wicked fun.
Absolutely absolutely, Huey the Gecko says, you mentioned Scott. I think it's
pronounced Clutier from Strange Brew. He does the open mics, he says.
Huey the Gecko says Scott. He's got a great rhythm when he's on the
kit too, so really, apparently he's a talented drummer. It makes sense.
The first open mic I actually did there and because it's been forever since
I had played out because this is more like a recent thing for me to
really try and get you know, involved and stuff. I hadn't changed my
strengths for months. Yeah, and I played I'm doing this, and you
know, after the'se like, you know, it sound great, it's like
your string's going kind of old though, and I'm like, yeah, yeah,
you're not wrong at all. He totally called me out on it,
but it was totally faiirs, like I'm going to change my strengths the next
time I play. Yeah, it was like the which was the week I
went before I went to a bachelor party, so I was like, I
gotta squeeze that in there somewhere. Yeah, which was fun, but it
was great tips and even suggested a certain string because I play, I have
my mind's indeed standard and I like that because I can use the capole to
kind of change my tuning around a lot easier. So I have to kind
of relearn a lot of the songs I like to play so I can have
more freedom, I guess with with the guitar, so lower strings is better
with like a fatter sound. So yeah, it's definitely was a great tip.
So I was like, I'm going to take his advice, and he
says, hey, what do you think? Like, yeah, I like
it? Yeah? Yeah? Do you ever? Do you break strings ever
when you're live? Hasn't happened yet. Knock gone guitar would here, But
it's part of why I almost never play the twelve string out every time I
get it restrung, because I will admit I am lazy with that guitar.
I hate stringing that one because because there's twelve of them. Yeah yeah,
it takes twice as long and you got to get the octaves and it's just
a pain. I always end up turning it into eleven string the day I
bring home. Really Yeah, So I just I just accepted, just like
you know what John Butler does it, I will too, Like that's totally
fine. I'm just gonna accept it. Yeah, Isaac Banks is asking Jesse
Coffee. Have you never listen? This is this is a familiar This is
a familiar theme with Isaac Have you never listened to Jamie Walter's song hold On
and See? Jamie Walters is a actor, singer, musician. He has
in a TV. He was in a TV in a nineties TV show of
a band called The Heights was a hit song how do you Talk to an
Angel? It was the number one song. Do you know that song?
Do you think he didn't put an he didn't put an s on the ninety
I would definitely have to hear it. It's been it's been quite a while.
How's that go? How do you talk to an angel? If he's
talking about nineteen ninety? Jesse wasn't born yet, right right, that's the
only thing. Well, you wrote ninety, not nineties. The thing is
with with Isaac Banks, and I think this is this is probably with everybody
in Greensborough. Not only do they use hashtags excessively, but very fixated on
Jamie Walters and Matchbox twenty definitely the Maxbox twenty. Yeah, that one comes
up a lot, but he goes out of his way to mention Jamie Walters
a lot. Also, Oh you got to you gotta have love for something.
That's that's totally fair. That's right. Yes, Tim Donovan Jr.
In the Facebook latch at another very talented musician. I need to affward you
his information. We need to get him very absolutely. He's got very unique
and interesting Yeah, we were was when we were on the break where he
and I were talking about getting him on, but definitely want to want to
get him on. Do you want to you want to play another song?
Sure? All right, why not? I'm having fun If you're just joining
us, We have Jesse Coffee live in studio with us here on w M
and H ninety five point three FM on this glorious Saturday morning here from the
new studio on a Canal Street. Uh oh, Miriam Banish says, Isaac
Banks is an interesting character. Yes, you probably remember that song Miriam from
uh Jamie Walters. All right, whenever you're whenever you're ready, sir,
So I'll do uh throw back to the first talent show I ever did eighth
grade, and I'll play some wicked game all right? Will was on fire
and no one can save me by you? Strange? What desire? Who
make foolish people do? And none ever dream that I meet somebody like you?
Not never dream that I lose somebody like you? No, do'ta falling
alone? No, do'ta falling alone with you? With you? What a
wicked game to play to make me feel this way? What a wicked thing
to do to make me dream? How you? What do wicked thee to
say you never felt that away? What a wicked thing to do to make
me dream of you and don't want to fall in love? No, don't
want to falling off with you? With you, world was on fire and
no one can save me, but you strange What desire make foolish people do?
And not ever dream that I meet somebody like you, Not ever dream
that I'd lose somebody like you. No, don't avolling, No, don'ta
vollume loved No, No, nobody loved no. Wow, very good?
Very good? Is that? Uh? Jesse coffee? Everybody? Is that
the most challenging song to sing? That you do? Because I would,
I would imagine that's challenging. Actually, no, you played the most the
hardest stuff to sing. And it's only because I was obsessed with him and
still am. R I p Chris Cornell anything he does. Oh, okay,
he is the four octave singer. I know, I am, not
even even on my good days. Uh, some of his stuff is just
so up there. I have to really relearn how to sing some of his
things. So there are some songs of his that I'm comfortable doing, ye,
but I got to really stretch for for some of those, because you
know, it's it's hard to bring everything down because he just has such raw
power and that rasp in his voice and everything and and anything, audio slaves,
sound guarden anything from them. They're just that my favorites to sing,
but the hardest the things. But I know I can't hit all of them.
So there certain songs, as much as I love them, I'm never
gonna do what what what do you do for? For Chris Corner? You
know it's been it's been a little bit, But be yourself as one I
do when when when I'm feeling good for it, I am. The Highway
is probably one of my absolute follow So those are ones that I've I've always
enjoyed doing very good. By the way, whenever I hear a Wicked game,
whoops, what's you think of? Jack Black? Something's playing here that
I don't want to be playing. No, I don't know where that audio.
I know where that audio is coming from. No, whenever I hear
Wicked game, here we go, I think of I think of this?
Was that just stevis my head? His name is Isaac still makes me laugh?
Oh yeah, away, wait as much I let him, please,
never thought about doing your entire show with someone just pattering with your as Jesus,
you wouldn't do anything. I would check this out. I don't think
that caught your I wouldn't either. I would be in fance. Watch James
anyway, Yeah where when Buttead makes fun of the way Chris Isaac sings.
It's pretty good, so I miss I mean, I know they had like
a newer version of the show, but it just it isn't quite the same.
There's something about that era where yeah, like I love Mike Judge,
super funny. Yeah yeah, and even the new stuff was good, but
it just doesn't hit quite the same. I've never seen any of the It's
it's all right. I kind of forgot about it. It's one of the
like for me, one of the few reasons I picked up Paramount Plus was
just to watch that all the South Park specials they had there because it was
only exclusive to that, and I was like, all right, yeah,
but that was definitely one of them. I haven't watched all of it,
but there is some funny stuff in there where they just make fun of like
like modern day issues. But the videos are different because they're not doing just
music anymore right right, Like they're making fun of people that do like ASMR
videos and I'm like, all right, you know that's it's entertaining. But
you know, I always think of the Beabs and butt Head one where they're
making fun of Pantera. Yeah, like it's like Terra's cool, and then
and it's just them like raging out and he's like, oh, he's a
yelling at me right right, Isaac bangs and the chat says hashtag Jesse coffee,
what's your favorite Savage Garden song? Truly Madly Deeply or to the Moon
and Back. I want him to tell me what his favorite song is so
I can listen to it. I actually like switched it up on him.
Nobody's ever switched it up on Isaac. I oh, I don't want to
pretend I know it, like at least like Matchbox, I could kind of
like I know, three am sure this one. I'm like, I probably
have heard it, but I'm not always good with all of it. To
the Moon and Back is okay. I do not like Truly Madly Deeply.
I think those are their only hits. Don't know, it's not ringing a
bell for me. Jay Fed wants to know if you do any Rick Astley
covers, you know, I can try and figure something out for the obvious
one son that I'm sure he's probably gosh, well, if you want to,
yeah, we have we have time. We can do one or two
more if you want. All right, this is gonna be a total first
time. So I like because I've never played this, So okay, if
it sucks, I'm sorry. It's live radio. It's the adventure of it.
I don't I don't even know if I'm gonna be able to like never,
I've never played it acoustically. I'm only ever saying this as a joke.
I even had. I used to have a QR code shirt. Oh
I remember that. Unfortunately, bleached stains took it away from me. But
it was the best QR code shirt you could wear when you go to either
protests or concerts because people scan it and it directed you to never gonna give
you up. The only thing that sucked, though, is if you have
ads on YouTube, then you would see the title first, but at least
in your head, you still got Rick rolled. So I did appreciate that.
That's pretty cool. Uh. Huey the Gecko says, my favorite is
Chris Cornell's song is right turn that's a good one. Yeah. J Fed
says you can do it. Yeah, Jay Fed's giving you encouragement. You
got this, all right, Well we'll get We'll give it a chat,
all right, Jesse Coffee live. H I gotta figure out the chords.
That's that's the part. M hm mm hmm. Huh. Hold on.
This is what you get when you're trying to first learn a song you've never
played live radio as it should be. Are you what is it? It's
this is one chord? Okay, mhm, I know what he should play?
What? No, I'm not gonna do that one, all right.
You know I'm gonna come back to that one just I want to. I
want to figure it out and I want to do it the proper way,
So I won't do it, but we'll leave the future. And also,
because I have that shirt, I feel inspired. I'm gonna I'm gonna make
an effort to learn that song. Okay, all right, I'm gonna absolutely
make an effort. I feel like you should know that one if you if
you do, like Rick Astley, well we'll uh, we're approaching at the
top of the hour, so let's do one more and and just whatever whatever
you want, We'll bet you we'll go in the complete same direction and play
Nirvana. How's that all right, Jesse, Coffee is with us live in
studio. If you're just joining us, all right, whenever you're ready.
I'm not letting them, but I can pretend the sun is gone. I
have a line good days. But I'm having fun. I think I'm dumb,
maybe just sappy. Think I'm just happy. Think I'm just happy.
Think I'm just happy. My heart is broke, but I have some glue.
Help me hail and then do with you. We float around and hang
out of clouds. Then we come down and have a hangover, have a
hangover, have a hangover, have a hangover. It's in the sun fall
sleep, wish away, he solo, sheep lesson, learn, wish me,
lak suthan burn wake me. I'm not love them, but I can
present the sunny gone to. But I have line good days done too.
But I'm having fun. I think I'm dumned, maybe just happy. I
think I'm just happy. I think I'm just happy. Think I'm just happy.
I think I'm dumb. I think I'm dumb. I think I'm dumb.
I think I'm dumb. I think I'm dumb. I think I think
I think I think I think m dumb. Very good, very good,
Jesse coffee with us a live in studio in a moment. We're gonna take
our break and then we're gonna come back and do some more stuff. And
of course we have Ricky Mapleton coming up in the third hour. But Jesse,
you're sticking around for a bit. I'll stick around for a little bit.
I don't have work for at least a couple of hours. I'm so
gonna have to leave a little early because I got we got some prep to
do. Gotcha, Yeah, very good. Great chicken dip doesn't make itself,
that's right. Let's plug right there. Yeah, and well Buffalo chicken
dip. Oh yes, Buffalo chicken. Let's expand the plug for a moment.
Remind everybody the place you're talking about, because you got all kinds of
great live events going on there, great north Ale works. If you are
free today, which will be well after the show from four to six,
we the Upright Dogs playing today, fantastic duo. Love hearing them play,
and great name of course, and then late later next week for some recent
stuff. We will also have a video game night that I'm hosting. It
starts roughly around six o'clock. Signups a five thirty for Super Smash Brothers tournament,
Fight your heart out, have fun, of course, have great beer,
great bruise, and good times. And it's and every Saturday. Of
course, we do always have live music from four to six rotating artists,
some that you've also had I have had on here, like Kevin Horn.
So we have a lot a lot of great acts that we have come through.
And we'll also have an open mic as well. Believe it's February sixteenth,
which is a Friday, that's from six to eight as well. I
occasionally play, depends on how busy we are and if I have time to,
because if there's a ten plus people on the list, I'd rather hear
a lot of these new, newer people. We get people from all ages
that have never played out before, which is great. It's a it's a
nice dynamic. Like there was like a seventeen or eighteen year old kid who
never played before coming out, and then there's a few people that were like
a lot older that had played out and it was their first go around and
I love that. It's always fun to seeing people get out have a good
time, and it's always like a supporting space with that. So well,
yeah, because a lot of times open mics happen in bars type atmosphere.
Yeah, and you can't necessarily go there with you know, with your sixteen
seventeen year own crew. Then you know you can you can come, you
know, because parents need drinks too, So right, It's one of the
things I love about the Great North. It's just it's such a wonderful interior
and it doesn't have that. We're a calm spot and I like, yeah,
yeah, they have. They have a lot of good stuff. You
still make. You make your own humus too, don't you, Yes,
we do. And then you you guys made a beer that tastes like peanut
butter. Oh yes, it's a peanut butter Black Bear Imperial Stout, And
we're on our last log of it now we have we have cans left,
but if you want to get it on draft, you can only get it
in the tasting room. There's a lot of exclusive stuff in the tasting room,
so you won't see it out in the world. You will only see
it, and that is one of them, So that's definitely something I would
recommend coming to get down. It's definitely one of my favorites. I like
peanut butter and I like beer, so who knew I'd like them both together.
But it's great at ten fifty holt out. Yes, and I did
have one question for you. I saw an image somebody was holding up Great
Northwoods passport. Ah, yes, you know that. It is very good
to talk about. So the passport, it's twenty bucks, but you get
a dollar off for every beer that you get that's new to the stamp or
you get so like, if you get a new beer, there's ten spots
that if you never had in that stamp, we'll get a dollar off that
beer. So you know it kind of pays for itself in that sense.
Yeah. Yeah, but it's also a kind of a bragging rights thing and
you get a exclusive party if you complete your passport, you're invited and you
also get a prize for that. So this one is kind of special because
we changed up a few aspects to it. So it's not just coming in
and getting a different beer thirty times. Now it's you have to come at
least once a month. You will get one freebie month, but that's to
kind of push that out. If you really want a passport, you kind
of want to come either this month or next month, earlier the better to
get started. And there's other ones like a tend a special event, send
us a picture of you having a good time with a great North beer.
Of course you can even have one with a picture of your dog because we
love dogs there, and god, there's just so many other things to look
at, and you know, I can talk more about it, but I'd
rather show you at the brewery, which you should come and visit me there
today, and you can harass me for why I didn't play Matchbox twenty or
the botch Rick Astley attempt because I got to figure out that one court,
you know, all that fun stuff. I love it right right, all
right, very good, Jesse, thank you so much, Thank you so
much for having me. It's been great, absolutely, and we have plenty
more show to come. But it's a little past stop of the r Let's
take a break, and as promised, we're gonna play a little Chasing the
Devil. Our friend Jay Bellow in the Facebook live chat. This is such
a great track. This is
Podbean
