Speaker 5: I was falling, gently, settled in the silence, frozen dark,
Speaker 5: an empty hibernation. You were there to catch me, drawn
Speaker 5: in by the wildness of broken heart, whole kind of
Speaker 5: patience in your hands.
Speaker 2: My world does the world, the scream, all the world
Speaker 2: of light.
Speaker 6: On the branches, open leg side, grass caps.
Speaker 5: Shearing, a light stole in second chances at the light,
Speaker 5: and you're right. There's no wrong right, no one wrong
Speaker 5: or right. It's only ever always in Queen running from
Speaker 5: the heartache, certain in the distance, we had put behinde.
Speaker 5: The best could only change us. Love was like an earthquake,
Speaker 5: overwhelming and es capable and violent.
Speaker 2: So we let itto cuz some worlds and forelights everything
Speaker 2: screamed all the world light.
Speaker 6: Was on the branches over and like the sky COAXI
Speaker 6: capturing a light stole in the second chances having them
Speaker 6: a nine, And you're right.
Speaker 2: There's no wrong. You're right, no more not you're right.
Speaker 2: Only I've always.
Speaker 7: That's a place where the bottles go down, and then
Speaker 7: that's me.
Speaker 8: I'm from all of the same people strive to remind.
Speaker 9: You how we're so look go first, wata all how
Speaker 9: we feel?
Speaker 8: Every day people fall apart the.
Speaker 9: Well, see it all the time.
Speaker 2: But I don't care.
Speaker 8: I don't care.
Speaker 10: I don't care what they'll say.
Speaker 9: There's our do And.
Speaker 8: In my own work.
Speaker 7: If I'm asking go on the streets, ny, Jill you to,
Speaker 7: I'm let all right, tell only on the side we're
Speaker 7: all down and out over every way where the people said,
Speaker 7: why oh, why should I really check your this?
Speaker 11: Jo stover side, that's a place where the storm goes
Speaker 11: down and go.
Speaker 8: Go b Well, I wonder where we're.
Speaker 12: But I'll be fine in my mind trying to make
Speaker 12: a loose was right, ignore it on the outside once again.
Speaker 10: In the end, I'll be in the back.
Speaker 13: Of a.
Speaker 9: Lesson about just what I don't.
Speaker 2: I'm a beef of the stationer and.
Speaker 9: I you jill us to go home.
Speaker 8: I'm not a right down on the other side of.
Speaker 14: The falling yet.
Speaker 8: Oh, let's bring away. We got you guys.
Speaker 9: While should I really check your it's Joe not.
Speaker 8: To say.
Speaker 9: Last came to the Chaser killed us.
Speaker 11: Down on the other side with falling.
Speaker 8: Yeah, we got chah.
Speaker 15: Why why should I really Jack chases juic.
Speaker 1: Snop that is not the same by John Denton, who
Speaker 1: we're going to be speaking with in just a moment.
Speaker 1: Welcome everybody. It is Matt Connorton Unleashed. It is a Saturday,
Speaker 1: March one, two thy twenty five. Jenny is here, of
Speaker 1: course at the news table. And let's see we've got
Speaker 1: them on skype here, John, are you there? Hello, Hey,
Speaker 1: John Denton. Welcome to Matt Connorton Unleashed, our number one
Speaker 1: on this Saturday morning. We just heard, of course, your
Speaker 1: great track, not the same your debut single. And uh,
Speaker 1: by the way, so you are you are a very
Speaker 1: young man.
Speaker 7: Correct, Yeah, fourteen years old.
Speaker 1: So so it started off your career very strong. I
Speaker 1: mean that is uh, that is such a great track.
Speaker 1: And I was reading a little bit about it too,
Speaker 1: and and what the lyrics are about and everything. So
Speaker 1: so congratulations on that. And you've already made it to
Speaker 1: American radio, so that's pretty cool.
Speaker 14: That's good day. Yeah, yeah, thanks forming me.
Speaker 1: Now, so tell us tell us a little bit about
Speaker 1: the song first and then we'll you know, we'll talk
Speaker 1: about your background and stuff. But because I was reading
Speaker 1: about how the song is, uh, tell me if I
Speaker 1: understand this correctly. Uh, And it's a subject that is
Speaker 1: very near and dear to me of course, talking about
Speaker 1: mental health and and what what different people are dealing
Speaker 1: with and how we're not all the same in terms
Speaker 1: of what we as individuals have to deal with, uh,
Speaker 1: you know, mentally and emotionally and all of that. Is
Speaker 1: that Am I on the right track?
Speaker 14: Yeah?
Speaker 16: So I think, But I think I think when I
Speaker 16: was writing the song, I just sort of I don't know,
Speaker 16: it was just I think it was that time where
Speaker 16: I was thinking a lot about, you know, because there's
Speaker 16: some pretty bad stuff going on in my country and
Speaker 16: obviously around the world and obviously you know, I'm just
Speaker 16: I'm just love from a small town who you know
Speaker 16: doesn't really well it doesn't you know, experience any of that.
Speaker 16: So just sort of like, I don't know, just sort
Speaker 16: of a right down my thoughts about like how you know,
Speaker 16: you know other songs says you know, we're not the same. Sorry,
Speaker 16: I'm so about I'm so about interviews me by Isolate.
Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that I was. I was reading too
Speaker 1: about you know, some of your your influences in terms
Speaker 1: of of the style of the song. I mean, it
Speaker 1: reminded me a little bit of The Killers and maybe
Speaker 1: The Strokes, and I was reading online, Uh, someone was
Speaker 1: comparing it to something by the Smiths. I mean, is
Speaker 1: that is that kind of your influence? I don't know,
Speaker 1: I don't like, I don't know what your broader influence
Speaker 1: influences are yet because you're just starting out. This is
Speaker 1: your first uh, this is your first big single. But
Speaker 1: but can you tell me about some of your musical
Speaker 1: inspirations for for writing a song like this? And I'm
Speaker 1: also curious to know if some of the other music
Speaker 1: that you're working on if it's similar or or if
Speaker 1: it has a different vibe and some different influences.
Speaker 16: Yeah, so I'd say I've always been quite inspired by, like,
Speaker 16: you know, the the sounds of my city, you know,
Speaker 16: because I'm from Sulford.
Speaker 14: I'm from a time called sulf It.
Speaker 16: And it's it's in Manchester, okay, you know, way it
Speaker 16: close to the cities, and so you know, I've got
Speaker 16: you know, i'd say I've got a lot of access
Speaker 16: to you know, like well obviously you obviously center and
Speaker 16: the culture and yeh, so i'd say just to know
Speaker 16: my hometownd stuff really like look like you know, like
Speaker 16: Stone Roses and Smith's an Oasis.
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, oh yeah, the Stone Roses. That's another band
Speaker 1: I was thinking of. It didn't come to mind when
Speaker 1: I was talking about it, but when I was listening
Speaker 1: to the song the first time because we actually played
Speaker 1: it on the show last week for the first time,
Speaker 1: and yeah, yeah, Stone Roses, that's I can definitely, I
Speaker 1: can definitely hear that. Are you working on obviously this
Speaker 1: is the first single, so this is the immediate focus.
Speaker 1: But do you have something lined up for a second
Speaker 1: single already or are you working on something? Where are
Speaker 1: you in the process?
Speaker 16: I mean listening to them yeah. I mean, you know,
Speaker 16: because I'm mostly wrapping zones all the time. So yeah,
Speaker 16: I've always got you know, stuff, stuff going on. I
Speaker 16: will be honest, there's a few, like there's a few
Speaker 16: specific songs that I prefer to not the same, you know,
Speaker 16: just sell you know, I say selfish like, you know,
Speaker 16: just for myself, I prefer you know, I prefer it.
Speaker 16: So you know, of course I'm right all the time.
Speaker 16: So I'm probably quite know in a few months. So
Speaker 16: obviously you know, doing second single and yeah.
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, we look forward to hearing more from more
Speaker 1: from you in the future in terms of your musical output.
Speaker 1: And like I said, you're off to such a great start.
Speaker 1: Where was this recorded? Did you did you record not
Speaker 1: the same uh? On your own? Or did you go
Speaker 1: to a studio? Did you work with a producer? Because
Speaker 1: it sounds great?
Speaker 16: Yes, I went to I went to Olive Studios any
Speaker 16: time called witness it's not too far from Manchester and
Speaker 16: you got called JOHNO.
Speaker 14: List name John Oltringo. Okay, so I added.
Speaker 16: The bass and all the all the guitars and up
Speaker 16: to the vocals and ate it jumps.
Speaker 1: Oh wow, that's great when you can do the bulk
Speaker 1: of it yourself, right, because then you you can be
Speaker 1: assured that it's going to really be kind of your
Speaker 1: vision of what the song should be, you know, instead
Speaker 1: of being in a situation where maybe you go to
Speaker 1: a studio and you've got studio musicians who are playing
Speaker 1: these parts that you kind of have in mind. When
Speaker 1: you have the ability to do it all yourself, that's
Speaker 1: that's fantastic. And you said John did the drums and
Speaker 1: obviously produce it.
Speaker 16: Yeah, So it was funny though, So so I think
Speaker 16: I I think you have like a guide track, you know,
Speaker 16: just with a metronomonic that I've done at home. Yeah,
Speaker 16: And he literally just went on stairs and just did
Speaker 16: a deal thing without putting much art into it.
Speaker 14: It was amazing, really yeah. He just yeah, I mean
Speaker 14: the great.
Speaker 1: Your drums aren't like it's nice when it when it
Speaker 1: comes together that quickly like that, and it's sort of
Speaker 1: organic and intuitive, and you know, you know then that
Speaker 1: you've got something really good and really strong when it
Speaker 1: when it comes together the other quickly and you can say, wow,
Speaker 1: this sounds great that. Do you intend to work with
Speaker 1: him going forward? Are you going to uh? Are you
Speaker 1: going to work with him on on future tracks. Are
Speaker 1: you going to kind of maybe shop around a little
Speaker 1: bit or do you have that part planned out yet?
Speaker 16: Yeah, so I think I'll I think most likely, you know,
Speaker 16: for the next for the next few singers, I'll just
Speaker 16: be working with him, I think.
Speaker 1: I think.
Speaker 16: I think the one thing that I really like about
Speaker 16: me is like, like one of the first things that
Speaker 16: he said to me before before recording this.
Speaker 14: Song was that he wanted it sound real.
Speaker 16: And so that's like my main like what's the word,
Speaker 16: that's my main sort of aspiration with it, you know,
Speaker 16: with regarding songs.
Speaker 14: Definitely, so so yeah.
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, excellent. And now what about performing live? Do
Speaker 1: you perform live in your area? I saw, I thought
Speaker 1: I saw a couple of pictures that looked like they
Speaker 1: were taken from a live show. But I don't know.
Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know if at your age. I know,
Speaker 1: here in America, when you're you know, if you're fourteen,
Speaker 1: you're a little bit limited as far as places you
Speaker 1: can play. I mean, you know, you can do coffee
Speaker 1: houses and stuff like that, but you know, you certainly
Speaker 1: can't do bars or pubs. I guess you would, you
Speaker 1: would call them, But what what is your situation as
Speaker 1: far as playing live? Are you able to do a
Speaker 1: lot of live shows?
Speaker 14: Yeah, so I am.
Speaker 16: I've been geting so I've been thinking pretty much every
Speaker 16: weekend for about like three years.
Speaker 1: Right, Oh, excellent, excellent.
Speaker 16: Yeah, So I mean, I'll be honest back so at
Speaker 16: the moment, like I look about eighteen and I've been
Speaker 16: told that by by a lot of people.
Speaker 1: So that's good.
Speaker 14: Yeah, so just a I get any places.
Speaker 1: Oh that's oh, that's great, that's great. Yeah, that's that's
Speaker 1: definitely to your advantage.
Speaker 16: Yes, I've begins around like Manchester, Liverpool. I'm doing your
Speaker 16: first like proper, like a like long way gig. I'm
Speaker 16: going to London in April and then that's gonna be
Speaker 16: So it's my first international gig. Well i'd say, so, yeah, international.
Speaker 16: I'm going to Scotland. I'm going to Glasgow this year
Speaker 16: at one point. Yeah, there's no date, there's no date. Yeah, yeah,
Speaker 16: exactly happening here. So yeah, I'm looking forward to that definitely.
Speaker 1: Oh that's excellent. Okay. So, so in addition to obviously
Speaker 1: so the single, you're getting some traction with and and
Speaker 1: you're sounds like you've got a lot of good traction
Speaker 1: too as far as playing out. You know, you're playing
Speaker 1: every weekend. That's fantastic. Good for you. Also, I'm curious
Speaker 1: to know more about your connection to Johnny Marr. You've
Speaker 1: got Johnny Mar's stamp of approval, but can you tell
Speaker 1: us a little bit about that.
Speaker 16: Yeah, so about about three years ago, Yes, about three
Speaker 16: years ago, I just met I just met him by
Speaker 16: chance in Manchester at this record signing and then the
Speaker 16: year after he put this light application form and it
Speaker 16: was targeted at Salford to aviously my owntown, like you know,
Speaker 16: and yes, so it was it was it was called
Speaker 16: it the Johnny marrow Ard, and it was a basically
Speaker 16: I'm trying to find a work the right way to
Speaker 16: explain it. So it was like a fun not one raiser, sorry,
Speaker 16: it was like a bit of funding for like a
Speaker 16: for one musician. So obviously you know that it was
Speaker 16: joined with this foundation, the Sulfur Foundation, which is my owntown,
Speaker 16: and they were going to pick one musician to like,
Speaker 16: you know, help out of it. And and yes, right
Speaker 16: I applied and I got it and I met him
Speaker 16: again and it was greater the hero.
Speaker 14: So it was amazing. Fami yea, because he because I
Speaker 14: got the ord like he really is.
Speaker 1: So yeah, yeah, no, that's that's fantastic. And uh, you
Speaker 1: just never know where something like that will lead. Is
Speaker 1: that was it because of him that you connected with
Speaker 1: that producer that you're working with or did that happen separately?
Speaker 16: So I'm working with this this management compant well I
Speaker 16: say company, but like this management group, and they've let
Speaker 16: me up with him.
Speaker 14: And yeah, it's been good.
Speaker 1: That's excellent. Yeah, so you've got you've got a lot
Speaker 1: of power behind you. That's great, that's great. Any idea
Speaker 1: when the next single will be out? We're already, like
Speaker 1: I said, we played we played not the same last
Speaker 1: week on the show, and all the response that we've heard,
Speaker 1: all the feedback has been very positive. So people want
Speaker 1: to hear more from you, obviously, and you're you're just
Speaker 1: starting out. But do you know when the next single
Speaker 1: might be?
Speaker 16: I don't know, no, Yeah, but i'd say like maybe
Speaker 16: like near the end of this year somewhere obviously, I guess. Obviously,
Speaker 16: you know, you've got to pick the right song because
Speaker 16: when you like it all depends on your financial situation,
Speaker 16: if you know what I mean. I've got a bit
Speaker 16: of saving up to do, so.
Speaker 1: So yeah, you've probably got a lot of Yeah, I'm
Speaker 1: sure you've already written a lot of music, and it
Speaker 1: probably some of it comes down to just kind of
Speaker 1: figuring out what the next song is that you want
Speaker 1: to record, right because you've you've probably got quite a
Speaker 1: few that you have ready to go. Just a matter
Speaker 1: of making decisions about what to do next, I would assume, yeah, yeah, definitely, Yeah, absolutely, Well, John,
Speaker 1: like I said, we love the track. Uh, where should
Speaker 1: people know to? Where should they go to find you online?
Speaker 1: What is the best place for people to go online
Speaker 1: to keep track with everything that John Denton is doing
Speaker 1: in terms of your music? And you know, if we
Speaker 1: have listeners over there who want to know where they
Speaker 1: can see you live, et cetera. Hopefully someday you'll be
Speaker 1: able to come to America too to play live. But
Speaker 1: but where should people go online to keep up with
Speaker 1: everything that you're doing?
Speaker 14: Yes?
Speaker 16: So social mediais I'm on Instagram. I'll tell you this
Speaker 16: comes like the main platform just because you know, that's
Speaker 16: where've got the most people sort of interaction with me.
Speaker 16: So Instagram and Twitter, TikTok, TikTok. Great, for musicians, isn't it?
Speaker 1: Yes?
Speaker 14: Is it not bud in your country?
Speaker 1: I thought it was TikTok was banned and then quickly unbanned,
Speaker 1: and I think that was probably it. I don't think
Speaker 1: it's going to get banned again. But the the political
Speaker 1: situation here is so strange. Anything can happen and uh,
Speaker 1: I mean almost literally anything can happen here, John. But
Speaker 1: but right now, right now, TikTok Is is not banned
Speaker 1: in the United States. But we'll see what the future holds.
Speaker 1: And yeah, TikTok is a great resource for musicians absolutely.
Speaker 16: Absolutely all the dreaming platforms. And do you listen to
Speaker 16: his own?
Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah, yeah, very cool, very cool. So, John, it's
Speaker 1: been wonderful speaking with you. We're going to actually close
Speaker 1: out the segment with We're gonna give this another spin,
Speaker 1: not the same. It's such a great song, very very catchy.
Speaker 1: We love it here. Like I said, a lot of
Speaker 1: great feedback here. And hopefully this is only the beginning
Speaker 1: of your you know, your your beginnings with on American radio, uh,
Speaker 1: because we think you have a great sound and uh,
Speaker 1: and I wish you continued success. And when the next
Speaker 1: single is ready, let's definitely have you back and we
Speaker 1: can talk some more then and we will look forward
Speaker 1: to hearing new music from you.
Speaker 16: I've noticed that I've noticed that American radio presenters up,
Speaker 16: I know what's the words, they're a lot more hsiastic
Speaker 16: compared to the British ones.
Speaker 14: So yeah, yeah, well wonderful.
Speaker 1: Perhaps we're a little bit less reserved, but yes, no,
Speaker 1: we we love what you're doing.
Speaker 5: John.
Speaker 1: We'll let you go so we can give this another spin.
Speaker 1: But thank you so much for joining us today. We
Speaker 1: appreciate it, and we will talk again soon. All right,
Speaker 1: you got it, John, take care, bye bye. All right.
Speaker 1: That was John Denton skyping in from the UK. Very
Speaker 1: young man, very impressive, fourteen years old, but just starting out.
Speaker 1: So it's nice to kind of be in at ground
Speaker 1: zero of his career and see him from from very early.
Speaker 1: But let's give this another spin. If you missed it,
Speaker 1: not the same, and then we've got a great show.
Speaker 1: I'll plan for you for the rest of the show
Speaker 1: as well. We are we are only speaking of only
Speaker 1: getting started. We are in the early stages of this
Speaker 1: approach ram today here on Matt Connorton Unleashed. But if
Speaker 1: you miss it, here it is again, or if you
Speaker 1: heard it and you just want to hear it again,
Speaker 1: this is not the same John Denton.
Speaker 8: That's the place where the bottles go.
Speaker 10: Down, and then that's me.
Speaker 17: I'm from.
Speaker 9: All of the same.
Speaker 1: People's rides are in my yah.
Speaker 9: How is so look Kip go first, I wanta know.
Speaker 18: I it field.
Speaker 8: Every day people fall above the.
Speaker 9: Well see it all side, But I don't care. I
Speaker 9: don't cat.
Speaker 10: I don't care what they'll say because I do it
Speaker 10: in my own work.
Speaker 19: Five nice people fall off the street shirt.
Speaker 8: N Jill said, don't I'm not al right down on.
Speaker 9: The other side. We're all down and out.
Speaker 8: Over every well.
Speaker 9: People who said.
Speaker 11: Why why should I really check your this jo start side.
Speaker 10: That's a place where the song goes down and.
Speaker 8: Go go b Well, I won't know where, but.
Speaker 10: I'll be fine in my mind trying to make go loose.
Speaker 2: Worse right, ignore it all.
Speaker 8: The outside.
Speaker 9: Once again in the end, ally in the back of.
Speaker 8: A joy about to do.
Speaker 7: People say, say to jail, just to go.
Speaker 19: Down on the up the side of the follow Yeah,
Speaker 19: oh break away, we got you that a while.
Speaker 8: So I really checked against Joe stop say.
Speaker 9: Chase chill, mister.
Speaker 19: Fat you.
Speaker 2: Stop.
Speaker 1: That is not the same. That is the debut single
Speaker 1: from fourteen year old John Denton from the UK and
Speaker 1: I was wonderful speaking with him and we look forward
Speaker 1: to more from him in the future. This is Matt

Speaker 1: Today is March first, twenty to twenty five. Jenny of
Speaker 1: course is here at the news table. Oh you know what,
Speaker 1: I didn't load it up. I didn't load it up
Speaker 1: because we did things in kind of a different order today.
Speaker 20: Well fine, jeez, that was a lackluster Well good morning.
Speaker 20: Now that's better, Jenny, Morning Sun.
Speaker 1: It just seems weird playing it. It's almost nine thirty
Speaker 1: weird to say it, I know, I know. Hey, we
Speaker 1: should mention the art show coming up. Do you have
Speaker 1: the it's the matter you don't have that ready. I
Speaker 1: wanted to give that a plug early, I know, and
Speaker 1: we'll mention it again later too that it's very exciting.
Speaker 1: It's it's at top of mind for me because of
Speaker 1: course yesterday I dropped off some of your art.
Speaker 21: So it's been a fun week for me for art.
Speaker 21: This you were at one gallery picking up art and
Speaker 21: you're at another gallery dropping off art, all in the
Speaker 21: same week.
Speaker 22: It's fun.
Speaker 1: This will be and this is the third place right
Speaker 1: that your art will have been featured because there's there's Mosaic, yeah,
Speaker 1: and then and then of course before it became New
Speaker 1: Hampshire Underground, when it was still the Midnight Creatives Collective. Yeah,
Speaker 1: in Nashua, Eleanora and Andre they featured your art there.
Speaker 21: Wonder if they do a black line and and now.
Speaker 1: Now you have a third place feature in your artwork.
Speaker 21: I'm super excited too. I never would have thought that
Speaker 21: this was going I know, right, So what's going to happen.
Speaker 20: What's gonna happen right here in the Queens City on
Speaker 20: March fifty, there's going to be a unique art show.
Speaker 21: This is called the Uncensored Underground.
Speaker 20: Art Experience and it's going to be how the twenty
Speaker 20: garden Way, excuse me, twenty garden Walk for give me
Speaker 20: right here in the Queen City from six to nine pm.
Speaker 21: And this show is uncensored, it's for adults.
Speaker 20: It's political, it's ugly, it's beautiful, it's amazing, and you
Speaker 20: really really get to come see it. They actually fell
Speaker 20: in love with my insurance collection, and they've actually requested
Speaker 20: that I bring all of the paintings in, even though
Speaker 20: they don't think they're going to be able to hang
Speaker 20: all of them, all five of them, but they wanted
Speaker 20: to see all of them. So you actually brought all
Speaker 20: of them in and one of them you can play
Speaker 20: with with some three D glasses which I also sent
Speaker 20: in as well.
Speaker 21: For those that don't know.
Speaker 20: The insurance collection was my outlet of fighting with insurance
Speaker 20: companies for coverage and for the things I'm supposed to
Speaker 20: be able to have, and that ended up coming out
Speaker 20: in my artwork.
Speaker 21: So it started with the illustrious agent.
Speaker 20: And how wonderful they treated me, and it went on
Speaker 20: from there to you know, dealing with the vice President

Speaker 21: Yeah yes, yeah, really they've been on my playlist now
Speaker 21: for well over a year.
Speaker 1: Really great, really great. By the way, we'll say hello
Speaker 1: to a few people in the chat room too. In
Speaker 1: the Facebook chat I see Chris Porrier better known as Chrispy,
Speaker 1: a great local comedian who's been on the show. He says, Hi,
Speaker 1: Matt and Jenny, I love your art. Oh, very nice,
Speaker 1: very nice. Our friend Ricky Mapleton in the chat room
Speaker 1: and said hello. That's why I decided to open with
Speaker 1: a Ricky Mapleton song today at the beginning of the show,
Speaker 1: the cross contamination song food safety very important, very important,
Speaker 1: very important. So no, we love that song and we
Speaker 1: played it in Ian Gallipo track, and then of course
Speaker 1: played not the Same by John Denton to open our conversation.
Speaker 1: Also Eric Lesniak in the chat room. Eric does a
Speaker 1: lot for the city here, for Manchester and very important
Speaker 1: part of things here and is on the morning show.
Speaker 1: I believe every Friday. He is on the morning show
Speaker 1: with Peter White here in the studio and actually one
Speaker 1: of the oh wow, was a while ago now, it
Speaker 1: must have been like a year and a half ago
Speaker 1: at least, but there was a morning show that I
Speaker 1: was on, not here, it was in the old studio.
Speaker 1: That's how I know it was a while ago that
Speaker 1: Eric was also on a Friday morning. Oh, it was
Speaker 1: when we were making the format change with this show
Speaker 1: and we were kind of announcing everything. So it's great
Speaker 1: to actually get to sit with Eric on the morning show.
Speaker 1: That was a while ago though, But yeah, Eric Lesniak
Speaker 1: does a lot of great things. Let's see. Also, we've
Speaker 1: got bfraid, Boston's Final Raid in the chat room. H
Speaker 1: And we haven't done this in a while, but our
Speaker 1: old friend Isaac Banks from from Greensboro, North Carolina in
Speaker 1: the chat room. Let's see, Isaac says, good morning, Matt.
Speaker 1: What's happening Matt. Yesterday my friend Pete ives rube Ly

Speaker 1: on YouTube is Aikman Breezy back on the block GSO
Speaker 1: Generation Socially six for the singing quartet mixed group. Of
Speaker 1: the lineup is Jeff Pegari, Valerie Biller, Johnny McKee five,

Speaker 1: manager is Joshua Walker and producer is me Isaac Banks.

Speaker 1: North Carela. Very good. Well, It's wonderful to get caught
Speaker 1: up with Isaac Banks from Iikman breezy. Yes, yes, very nice,
Speaker 1: very nice.
Speaker 22: Hey.
Speaker 1: So something we started to do recently too on the
Speaker 1: show and we didn't get we didn't get far with
Speaker 1: it because we just ran out of time. But uh,
Speaker 1: you know, because we talk about AI and we do
Speaker 1: have a couple of news stories involving AI and music
Speaker 1: and so forth that we might get to. But we
Speaker 1: also started to I thought it would be fun. And
Speaker 1: this is something I've kind of had in the back
Speaker 1: of my mind for months and months and months, and
Speaker 1: we've just ever had time to get to it. But
Speaker 1: we might do it right now. And this could be
Speaker 1: This could be a lot of fun. This could be
Speaker 1: a disaster. I don't know what's going to happen. But
Speaker 1: Sono is one of the services where you can create
Speaker 1: AI music AI generated music, and I thought it would
Speaker 1: be fun because they do have a free version, because
Speaker 1: I don't like to pay for things, especially if I
Speaker 1: don't think I'm ever going to use them again, although
Speaker 1: who knows, I might use this again in the future.
Speaker 1: We shall see. But Souno Suno dot com. I did
Speaker 1: set up a free account. This was a few weeks ago.
Speaker 1: We had started to do this and then, like I said,
Speaker 1: we just ran out of time, but I thought it
Speaker 1: would be interesting if we create an AI generated song
Speaker 1: live on the air and just see what happens and
Speaker 1: see what all the fuss is about. So I created
Speaker 1: an account and didn't get very far. But one of
Speaker 1: the options is so song description, and they give you
Speaker 1: an example of a song description that you can use
Speaker 1: a prompt if you will an AI prompt. So the
Speaker 1: first song description, well, here's what it says. Describe the
Speaker 1: style of music and topic you want. For example, acoustic
Speaker 1: pop about the holidays. Use genres in vibes instead of
Speaker 1: specific artists and songs, So they don't want examples of
Speaker 1: artists and songs that you want to sound like, but
Speaker 1: they want they want a description of what the vibe
Speaker 1: should be. And an example that they give is an
Speaker 1: emotional classical song about a faded photo on the mantle.
Speaker 1: So what should we Jenny, what should we prompt it
Speaker 1: to to write about? What should be?
Speaker 8: Uh?
Speaker 21: Death destruction?
Speaker 1: K okay? So I'm going to type that I'm channeling
Speaker 1: Melanie death destruction. De kay. Now let's see, and then
Speaker 1: you can you can select a lyrics model. Uh, you
Speaker 1: know what I think? So there's two options here. There's
Speaker 1: uh remy, which is our newest, most creative model, may
Speaker 1: generate content that some find offensive. Okay, so we don't
Speaker 1: want that because.
Speaker 21: One, because we need to uh it's Saturday morning.
Speaker 1: We don't want to create something that I can't actually
Speaker 1: play on the air. Or the other option is that
Speaker 1: we can stick with classic follows prompts closely and takes
Speaker 1: fewer risks. But you know what, I'm also too because
Speaker 1: I just to be sure. I mean, we are on
Speaker 1: a delay. I can always set the dump button, but
Speaker 1: I don't want to have to do that. So I'm
Speaker 1: going to Okay, so I typed death, destruction, decay, but
Speaker 1: I'm also going to say with clean lyrics, no profanity,
Speaker 1: because we don't want it to spit out something I
Speaker 1: can't even play on the air. Okay, So, well, it
Speaker 1: doesn't want it doesn't want specific. It wants vibes, not
Speaker 1: I don't. That might be that might be getting too
Speaker 1: specific if I say that. Okay, So now, so now
Speaker 1: I'm going to click create.
Speaker 21: And does it tell you it doesn't give you, like
Speaker 21: the ability to pick like John.
Speaker 1: Well no, I oh no, oh no, I could have,
Speaker 1: but I just typed. I mean we can we can always.
Speaker 1: I just I just typed death, destruction, decay, and then
Speaker 1: I also said with clean lyrics, no profanity. Okay. So
Speaker 1: it is generating. It looks like it is generating more
Speaker 1: than one option. It's it's given. Oh okay, it's created
Speaker 1: a couple of files. So they both have the same
Speaker 1: name though. Walts of the Shadows is the name of
Speaker 1: the song, and there's a descriptor underneath it. It says clean,
Speaker 1: haunting orchestral dark. It's called Walts of the Shadows. But
Speaker 1: it looks like it's created two of them. Okay, So
Speaker 1: I'm gonna click the first one and let's see what happens.
Speaker 1: This is we're doing this live on the air. I
Speaker 1: never done this before. This is AI generated by this
Speaker 1: service Souno dot com. So I'm going to go ahead
Speaker 1: and click this and I'm gonna click play and let's
Speaker 1: just see what happens. Sounds like the beginning of an
Speaker 1: Evanescence song so far.
Speaker 23: In Blood for Shadows dotre Oh, it's kind of nice.
Speaker 18: Whispers of vended.
Speaker 21: We can't see.
Speaker 23: The care of said songs around time as dusk transforms into.
Speaker 18: Nice, what sings a quiet beneath the song for.
Speaker 23: Destruction writes letters in a dreams turn to dust in
Speaker 23: a flash.
Speaker 1: Well I can see, well, I can see why people
Speaker 1: are worried because this is this is AI generated. But
Speaker 1: it's also really yeah, it's it's good. It's it's legitimately good.
Speaker 1: It's not even like, oh, this is good for AI.
Speaker 1: I guess no, this is like, this sounds legit. I'm
Speaker 1: understanding song.
Speaker 21: It really does.
Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm understanding on a new level why people are
Speaker 1: legitimately worried, you know what I mean.
Speaker 21: And it just did that in a split second.
Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a couple of prompts.
Speaker 21: It's disturbing.
Speaker 1: Okay, Rather than listening to the whole song, though, let's
Speaker 1: pick because it gave us it. Well, it gave us
Speaker 1: two options, so let's listen to the second option and
Speaker 1: see what this is, and it might be similar. We'll see.
Speaker 2: Through the land where shadows dance.
Speaker 1: Oh, now we have a male vocalist.
Speaker 2: Whispers of endings. We can see.
Speaker 13: Dka wraps its arms around time his dust transforms into nine.
Speaker 2: All things a quiet to.
Speaker 18: Beneath the sord.
Speaker 1: So now we have acause, Jenny, you had to leave
Speaker 1: the room for a moment. Now we have a male
Speaker 1: vocalist on the On the second example.
Speaker 2: Dreams turned to dust In a.
Speaker 1: What's really good? It's really good? Oh boy? But why
Speaker 1: is it good?
Speaker 8: Stories I have and it's just.
Speaker 15: And steagetation times.
Speaker 8: I just.
Speaker 1: This is so much better than I expected. Really, yeah
Speaker 1: it is. I didn't expect it to be this quality.
Speaker 2: Whos trees so embrace?
Speaker 1: Yeah, that's that's really good. Now I do want to
Speaker 1: just for the heck of it. Uh, this is not
Speaker 1: something that we've This is a subject we haven't visited
Speaker 1: in a while. But I just want to see what
Speaker 1: it does, so you know how of course, you know,
Speaker 1: last week we were talking about Kendrick Lamar super Bowl
Speaker 1: appearance and everything during the halftime show, and of course
Speaker 1: you know we're talking about you know, the great hip
Speaker 1: hop beefs of all time. Now, I had a hip
Speaker 1: hop beef which we haven't mentioned in a long time
Speaker 1: because I hate to poke that bear because I do
Speaker 1: fear for my life. But well, of course mc Hammer
Speaker 1: for for uh. This was quite a few years ago now,
Speaker 1: but I was concerned MC hammer was going to uh
Speaker 1: to come here and harm me. I would like to
Speaker 1: ask this program, soono to create a disc track about
Speaker 1: MC Hammer that my alter ego M Sizzle could perhaps
Speaker 1: a death lyrics. Yes, yes, I'm going.
Speaker 21: To I don't have to hit the dump, right.
Speaker 24: I don't know if this will even this might be
Speaker 24: if this works, Oh my god. Okay, so will it
Speaker 24: tell you to not going to go there?
Speaker 1: Okay? This track it did because it did say not
Speaker 1: to mention specific artists, but this is about a specific artist. Okay,
Speaker 1: So this track about uh about MC hammer, clean lyrics only,
Speaker 1: no offensive words. Uh, and let's just see what happens. Okay,
Speaker 1: So I'm gonna click create. Yeah. For those who don't
Speaker 1: know what I'm referring to, if you if you go
Speaker 1: on YouTube and just type in Matt Connerton mc Hammer,
Speaker 1: you can find the whole saga. I was in fear
Speaker 1: for my life. Okay, so we're gonna.
Speaker 21: Start trouble again to change my phone number again.
Speaker 1: People who are new to the show are like, what
Speaker 1: are you talking about? And people who know and people
Speaker 1: who are not new to the show are also like,
Speaker 1: what are you talking about? But but yeah, just go
Speaker 1: on YouTube and just okay. So it has created a
Speaker 1: song called Hammer Time out Out. Yes, oh, my God,
Speaker 1: and the uh and the description and the description it
Speaker 1: says hip hop, funky, clean and great news. It has
Speaker 1: also given us two It says, yeah, yeah, It has
Speaker 1: also given us two examples. So well, all right, let's
Speaker 1: play the first one. I hope Hammers not listening. He's
Speaker 1: going to be angry with me all over again. All right,
Speaker 1: here's the first one.
Speaker 15: Always told us, can't just this do that, dude, this
Speaker 15: now for them shine it. Parachute pants thought she was
Speaker 15: so fly wow, But now you're just a memory dancing
Speaker 15: in the swing past, faded from the lime like beust.
Speaker 8: Good things never last.
Speaker 2: It's hell of time out.
Speaker 8: You couldn't keep the beat.
Speaker 2: Dance your way to the top.
Speaker 15: Now you're off your feet something you had your moment.
Speaker 2: Now it's sitting away.
Speaker 15: Hamming time out.
Speaker 2: Looks like you're yes, oh.
Speaker 1: Wow, Wow, what's the wow?
Speaker 2: Soul?
Speaker 15: Millions like hotcakes, But those fans moved on. Now they
Speaker 15: vibe with new steaks. Your moves were sling, but transchange
Speaker 15: real quick, cause it's tough when the time don't match
Speaker 15: the track.
Speaker 2: Wow, it's ham and time out. You couldn't keep the beat.
Speaker 2: Dance your way to the top. Now you're off your
Speaker 2: old feet.
Speaker 9: You had your moment.
Speaker 2: Now it's slipping way Hamlet sime out looks like you're yesterday.
Speaker 15: You had the flash, the cash, a mansion, soul grand,
Speaker 15: But fame is a fickle frame things getting out a
Speaker 15: head came and swinging hard. I thought you'd always stand toll.
Speaker 15: Now it's Hammo time out. Ain't we see it?
Speaker 2: Oh my good? But it ain't no denying.
Speaker 9: You rocked.
Speaker 2: That Golden Age brought some fun and.
Speaker 8: Flare to the concert stage. Know the curtain clues. Damn,
Speaker 8: the crowds moved on.
Speaker 15: Can't erase the groove of your classics, son of sime.
Speaker 1: Out there deep the beat as.
Speaker 15: Your way to the top.
Speaker 2: Now you're off your feet.
Speaker 9: You had a moment.
Speaker 15: Now it's say.
Speaker 2: He looks like you were yesterday.
Speaker 1: Wow, it's hamn same out.
Speaker 2: It's heaven sad out.
Speaker 1: It's not quite what I expected though in the sunset
Speaker 1: poppy because I said distrack, so I thought it would
Speaker 1: be somebody rapping instead of singing. There's more.
Speaker 15: Wow, that Golden Age brought some fun to the concert stage.
Speaker 15: The curtain clothes and the crowds moved on.
Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it's repeating the first verse. Yeah, all right,
Speaker 1: let's check. Let's check the other one.
Speaker 21: Let's see. Well this female around.
Speaker 8: Can't touch this?
Speaker 5: Do that?
Speaker 24: Do this?
Speaker 2: Now them shining parachute pants.
Speaker 8: Thought you were so fly wow, But.
Speaker 1: Now the one dancing in the swank sort.
Speaker 2: Of faded from the limelight. I guess good things. Never less,
Speaker 2: it's had a time out.
Speaker 21: You couldn't keep the beating.
Speaker 1: Dance your way, Yeah, your feet. You had a moment.
Speaker 2: Now it's being away.
Speaker 15: Hammer sound looks like you yesterday once upon a time
Speaker 15: sold millions like hot cakes, but those fans moved on.
Speaker 9: Now they've vib.
Speaker 2: Your mapples were slick, but trans changed. Real.
Speaker 1: What's that? What's that?
Speaker 21: Maybe you have to tell it for you around?
Speaker 1: Maybe?
Speaker 21: Yeah, the lyrics is the first one. Yeah, they're both
Speaker 21: poppy yea bubble gum pop.
Speaker 1: All right, let me uh, let me say rapping disc
Speaker 1: track and that by the way, So for anyone listening,
Speaker 1: if you're listening to the show and you want to
Speaker 1: hear the full versions of this, I will put these
Speaker 1: on YouTube. I'll put the full things on YouTube because
Speaker 1: I know we gotta Yeah, yeah, and uh is our
Speaker 1: is our? Is he in here? Yes, okay, and our
Speaker 1: next guest is here, so we want to get them
Speaker 1: in shortly because we're already approaching the top of the
Speaker 1: r But I just want to try this really quick,
Speaker 1: so I I changed the prompt. I put rapping in
Speaker 1: the prompt and let's just see if this works, and
Speaker 1: we'll just listen to a little bit of it and
Speaker 1: then we'll move on.
Speaker 8: And uh.
Speaker 1: But like I said, I'll put these all on YouTube later.
Speaker 1: I'll put them up on the i PM Nation YouTube
Speaker 1: channel and I'll share them out so you can see. Okay,
Speaker 1: oh okay, So this one is called and again it
Speaker 1: made two versions, can't touch your missteps.
Speaker 7: And uh.
Speaker 1: In the uh description it says rap clean, rhythmic, edgy,
Speaker 1: hip hop edgy. Okay, but Cleen is in there. All right,
Speaker 1: let's see what we got.
Speaker 15: Yeah yeah, uh uh pencil baggy looking like hot air balloons.
Speaker 1: Dancing on TV.
Speaker 15: But your career popping soon through saxic cash inside.
Speaker 8: A golden room.
Speaker 1: Now your bank account emptier than.
Speaker 7: A monsoon chasing trend's hard, saw your flaws on display,
Speaker 7: paid for your fame.
Speaker 21: Now you can't afford to stay used to be a star,
Speaker 21: Now you're in disarray.
Speaker 1: Can't touch success when it slips away.
Speaker 17: Can't touch your missteps, man, it's of it, falling from
Speaker 17: grace pass so relevant, yeah, can't touch your future, man,
Speaker 17: it has it.
Speaker 2: One s the king now a.
Speaker 15: Broken testinent, spent all that dough on a lavish throne,
Speaker 15: built up an empire.
Speaker 2: Now you're all alone.
Speaker 1: Thought you were on touched a bullet now all right,
Speaker 1: I'm gonna pause out on. Let's just check the other
Speaker 1: one really quick, Like I said, if you want to
Speaker 1: hear the whole thing, I'll put it on YouTube later,
Speaker 1: I promise. Yeah.
Speaker 25: Pay so baggy looking like high air balloons dancing on TV.
Speaker 2: But your career, puppy soon.
Speaker 25: Sex and catch is not a golden room. Now you
Speaker 25: bake account emptier than a month soon. He's in trend's
Speaker 25: hard saw your flaws on display. Paid for your fame, man,
Speaker 25: you can't afford to stay. Used to be a star now.
Speaker 8: Your wind disarray.
Speaker 1: Can't touch success when it slips.
Speaker 25: Away, can't touch your missteps, man, it's of it and.
Speaker 21: Fallen from grace past, so relevant.
Speaker 1: Can't touch your future.
Speaker 21: Man, it's hesitant.
Speaker 1: Once a king now a.
Speaker 2: Broken testament, spent all that dole on the Lavish throng.
Speaker 1: These are really good?
Speaker 21: Why are they really good?
Speaker 1: I don't know. I mean, I'm extremely impressed. Well, we
Speaker 1: know why because you know generative AI. We know how
Speaker 1: it works, and it sucks up everything and and.
Speaker 21: Uh because it learned it all from real artist.
Speaker 1: Right exactly exactly. But but what it's what it's giving us.
Speaker 1: This is so this, this far far exceeds my expectations
Speaker 1: as good. I didn't think it.
Speaker 21: I didn't think it would be good.
Speaker 1: I didn't think it would be this good.
Speaker 21: So but then, you know, you think about it.
Speaker 20: There's so much talent in the world and how many
Speaker 20: millions or billions of data that has it sucked in
Speaker 20: every potential artist out there, every yeah, you know, from
Speaker 20: from the the person who's at home in their closet.
Speaker 21: It's her in it. Yeah, and it's putting all that
Speaker 21: data into this.
Speaker 1: Yeah, it's too easy. It is, it's very I mean,
Speaker 1: we created these with a simple prompt, a prompt like
Speaker 1: one prompt, and and this is what we got. So
Speaker 1: I don't know, is this it is this the end
Speaker 1: of music? Is music dead?
Speaker 2: Now?
Speaker 21: You don't protect the artists.
Speaker 1: I don't know what to I don't know what.
Speaker 21: Don't protect the artist, you won't be able to know
Speaker 21: which ones what.
Speaker 1: I'm just I'm I'm amazed.
Speaker 26: I mean this is uh, I mean, Testament spent all
Speaker 26: that toe on eleve stroll, built up in the empire.
Speaker 8: Now you're all alone.
Speaker 15: Thought you were run such a bullnell over Blowncastle turned
Speaker 15: to say, left with just a tone orsement.
Speaker 1: I mean, I'm I'm more impressed with the beat than anything, really,
Speaker 1: I mean, the lyrics are clever, but I'm but I'm
Speaker 1: impressed with the but the beat to the production, you know,
Speaker 1: I mean it's like, oh my god, what have we
Speaker 1: gotten ourselves into? Well, this is I'm glad we finally
Speaker 1: had a chance to do this so on the show.
Speaker 1: This is fun and this is interesting, but it's also terrifying,
Speaker 1: you know, I mean, and uh, I don't know. I'm
Speaker 1: kind of almost speechless. But anyway, all right, so we're
Speaker 1: gonna fade that out than I thought.
Speaker 21: We're even more concerned than I heard he was.
Speaker 1: Yeah.
Speaker 20: Yeah, for artists to protect their work, I mean, if
Speaker 20: it's learning off of everybody else's.
Speaker 21: Work, yeah, it's not coming up with something unique in
Speaker 21: that way.
Speaker 20: Yeah, it's repurposing everything it's learned from something else, the
Speaker 20: human something else.
Speaker 1: But let's not lose track of what I think is
Speaker 1: ultimately the most important thing here in this moment, and
Speaker 1: that is just like Kendrick Lamar with the final nail
Speaker 1: in Drake's coffin, with that halftime show performance. I, by
Speaker 1: creating these disc tracks using AI, within seconds, Peter have
Speaker 1: emerged triumphant in my long standing beef with mc hammer.
Speaker 1: I don't know, yes, And if I look at my
Speaker 1: Google Analytics.
Speaker 21: Again, you're gonna be sleeping on the couch.
Speaker 1: If I look at my Google Analytics for my website
Speaker 1: later and I see Oakland, California showing up again, I'll
Speaker 1: know that he knows that once again he has been
Speaker 1: bested by his arch nemesis M sizzle. Oh God, yes, effortlessly.
Speaker 1: So all right, well here we're going to end the
Speaker 1: hour with UH. We're gonna play another one of these
Speaker 1: great studio tracks from a real, living, breathing musician, Ian
Speaker 1: Gallipo and UH, And then we'll show some love to
Speaker 1: our amazing sponsors. And then when we come back in
Speaker 1: the second hour in just a few minutes, Ian Gallipo
Speaker 1: will be here with us alive, in studio. This is
Speaker 1: Matt Connorton unleashed, and we have a lot more show
Speaker 1: to go, so don't go anywhere. I didn't. I didn't
Speaker 1: mute the still playing. Now it's away, all right, okay,
Speaker 1: I close that out. All right, here we go. This
Speaker 1: is uh, this is Ian Gallipo. Check this out.
