31:46 Speaker 17: So are the four of you like because we in fact, I asked before the show, do I introduce you as Cosmic Blossom or Cosmic Blossom Collective because it seems like there's like, is there a core band and then sort of ancillary people who are the collective?

32:01 Speaker 6: Or how does how how is this all working?

32:03 Speaker 31: Sure, So there's there's like I would say, probably like eight of us that are like the core group members. Okay, you know, we kind of split that up into like two little subgroups that like write songs like on their own, and then we kind of bring it to the larger group. Oh and then we have other musicians that are in the scene that kind of join on, you know, like horn players and stuff like that whenever we have like bigger gigs. But yeah, for the most part, we kind of stick to the core group of like eight of us.

32:28 Speaker 17: So so that that core configuration of eight, So what do you have covered in terms of instruments or is it a lot of singers or how does how does? Like I guess what I'm really asking is who are the other four of the eight?

32:40 Speaker 31: Sure? Yeah, absolutely, I would say the other four. Well, we have brad to Palm on guitar. You couldn't be here today, but he's the guy that I started this with lead guitar. We have Jimmy on keys, he's fantastic, Chuck on bass, we love Chuck and Anthony on drums, he's the other drummer that we have. I'd say that. And then we have singers on top of that too, you know, Amanda Vantayne, Sarah Bird, she's also when dog Eate Dogs, She'll be here a little bit later, okay, and you know, just too many people to name off off the rip out the rest of that.

33:05 Speaker 6: Yeah, is it?

33:07 Speaker 17: Is it challenging to manage all that in terms of playing live shows and figuring out who's available for what or or maybe it's maybe it makes it easier in some ways because you can kind of change up the configuration of the songs on the fly depending on who's there.

33:21 Speaker 6: I mean, what is that like what is that dynamic?

33:24 Speaker 29: Like, well, that's one of it.

33:25 Speaker 32: And definitely with like like there's a where or you guys are playing on March twenty first, I already had a gig. But you know, it's it's simple enough where we have like two drummers too, bassis and we're all cross trained, so we can kind of, yeah, if one of us can make it, we can still kind of make make the gigs work.

33:40 Speaker 29: Yeah, which is nice. But again, we tend to play like bigger, bigger shows.

33:44 Speaker 32: We're not doing a lot of smaller stuff, so it's usually make it worth it, I would say, are the shows.

33:49 Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, no, that makes sense.

33:51 Speaker 31: Yeah, with with smaller gigs and stuff, we'll usually stick to like a smaller group of us, you know, what I mean, Like, if we're just playing like a club downtown like say Lowell or something like that, you know we'll have probably just like the eight of us covered that we're playing like a bigger festival over the summer, we'll probably have we'll break out all the stops for that, so we'll have all what fifteen of us on stage or something like that. Yeah, at one time, and you know, people kind of jump in and out per song.

34:12 Speaker 31: It's not everybody's on the stage all at once. Everybody kind of just floats in and out as the songs kind of come okay. And yeah, like Gary said, having two of everything is really helpful. So if one person can't make it, someone can cover the entire base for one show.

34:24 Speaker 6: That it's like a Noah's Ark thing. You got two of Uh.

34:28 Speaker 31: I didn't look at it like that before.

34:30 Speaker 6: Yeah, No, that makes sense. So that that's so that's smart to do it that way. That totally makes sense.

34:36 Speaker 17: What is so do you know what, like, what is the maximum number of people you've had on stage at once for a Cosmic Blossom set.

34:43 Speaker 31: We have on for worm Town?

34:45 Speaker 32: Once that was probably like with the horn players and stuff. That's probably like twelve or thirteen out Wow, yeah.

34:51 Speaker 31: Thirteen of us probably on it once.

34:52 Speaker 6: Yeah, and what's the minimum, like, what is the small.

34:55 Speaker 31: The smallest we had was four. Yeah, and it's it's cool because we'll start with four, like for our last festival we played at Wormtown, we start with four, and then we add one person, and then we add another person and its just like grows to like the end of the show, all thirteen of us are on stage, all at once, so.

35:10 Speaker 31: Yeah, yeah, this guy's good your marketing, I got all. I want to be part of this. You want to join us?

35:26 Speaker 17: Now now when you so, how does that affect how you approach recording? Because you've got like we featured, uh that great studio track we opened with and we just played halfway there?

35:36 Speaker 6: How do how does that get figured out? Who's going to?

35:38 Speaker 17: Uh? I mean, do you try to get all fifteen people on a track or probably not, I wouldn't think.

35:43 Speaker 32: But yeah, I mean we uh we again try and kind of get a scratch track, you know, we use the well recently started using Pete, who I've used all for my Procrest Maintenance and Fox and flamingcos. So, like we kind of just lay the scratch track down with the four or five of us, and then the girls will come add the vocals after the fact and we.

36:00 Speaker 29: Try and get as many people on it.

36:02 Speaker 32: Obviously sometimes it doesn't always work out, but yeah, I mean, ultimately, you know, everyone, like I said, everyone can play everything, so that's half the battle. But yeah, recording wise, we it's pretty efficient. Like last song, we pretty much had it done in two days over the course of a week. We're recording again on March twenty eighth, recording our next song.

36:24 Speaker 32: To take your time, the one that we played solo, the first one, the acoustic one, So that's going to be recorded, uh, excellent down to Pete.

36:29 Speaker 29: So that yeah, and then we're working on a bunch of other stuff too.

36:33 Speaker 6: Is there a studio recording of the last one that you played that you sang on Meg not yet? No, I love that song, Oh right, thank you, thank you.

36:40 Speaker 8: Yeah, we do. Me and Amanda Vanteene do that one together. Usually kind of like a girl power song kind of stuff.

36:48 Speaker 18: But yeah, we're hoping on recording that soon.

36:49 Speaker 6: Too cool. Cool.

36:51 Speaker 17: Yeah, No, that's that's really good. So there Now is there an album or is there just singles for Cosmic Blossom up to now?

36:57 Speaker 31: I don't so right now, we just have I think what eight and that was over the course of like, you know, this has progressed in a crazy way that we've had even other members that have you know, like come and gone, and so we over the course of the last you know, two or three years, we've probably put out about eight singles. We're gearing up now to get like a full length album, probably about like fourteen songs. Oh on, one big album, and we hope to get that like pressed on the vinyl and stuff by the end of the summer.

37:23 Speaker 31: That's kind of nice. We're in the process of getting everything recorded and polished up now for that.

37:27 Speaker 6: Oh very cool.

37:28 Speaker 17: Yeah, that'll be good. It's cool that you're gonna do vinyl. A lot of people are doing vinyl now, that's awesome.

37:34 Speaker 31: He just pressed vinyl for his Percussive Maintenance album.

37:37 Speaker 31: Yeah, okay, one of those too cool?

37:40 Speaker 17: Well, I don't know, if you all notice and Gary, you've obviously been here before, but not I'm been here in a little while.

37:45 Speaker 31: We have a record player now, yeah, absolutely spend your vinyl on that.

37:49 Speaker 29: Yeah, right, Yeah.

37:50 Speaker 17: One of the guys, this belongs to Ryan Sherman, the erminator. He does a show here, a music show.

37:54 Speaker 6: But he brought this in. I know that guy, you know him.

37:56 Speaker 17: Yeah, he brought this in and he said anybody can use it, so we can. We can always plug it in and spend something on there. Sick my theory about you know, people who buy vinyl at this point, you know, unless they're they're buying you know, used vinyl, you know, like classic rock stuff. But I think when people buy brand new vinyl, most of the time they probably never even open it, or if they do open it, they never play it.

38:17 Speaker 6: Because it's just something that's cool to have.

38:19 Speaker 31: It's a collective piece. Yeah, absolutely, Yeah, It's not the only way that we listen to music to anymore. So that's more of a it's more of a novelty to have for sure.

38:25 Speaker 6: Yeah, it's cool to have it. You know, you can mount it on the wall, do whatever with it.

38:29 Speaker 17: But but yeah, but we do have the capability to play vinyl, and we also have a we actually have a CD player here too. I don't even have a CD player at home anymore, but we do have a CD player here. I think I think Rob as a Veto from Granted State of Mind is the only one who actually uses it, but we do have one here, so we have that capability as well. But it's nice to live in a digital age.

38:50 Speaker 31: Yeah, yeah, very nice to have for the summer. Absolutely.

38:52 Speaker 17: How long has Cosmic Blossom existed. It's been a number of years, right, but it sounds like it's changed a lot. It's it's morphed and grown.

38:58 Speaker 31: And absolutely yeah, I would say that me and Brad started this in twenty twenty when everything kind of shut down. We kind of just met up with our buddy Brian Lambers a lot. He's a core member of this took. He helps us a lot with our production and stuff. He's awesome. So we just met up with him and just like us three just started writing the original songs that we had for this. Later on we picked up drums and bass with Axel and Alfredo. Yeah, and then right after that we picked up Amanda Vantayne as like our lead singer, and then like just from there once that happened, like people started joining left and right, and okay, it just became what it became after that.

39:31 Speaker 31: Yeah, it kind of grew naturally too. It's not like, you know, we really actually planned for that. We kind of planned on being a band at first, and then just so many people just ended up coming through that were like, all right, let's see if we can make that like a trend. And yeah, it's been a lot, but it's been working for us. It's been really cool.

39:45 Speaker 17: Was there any was there any kind of resistance to that initially within the band? Like do we want to just let people sort of join or did you just did you just go with it instinctively? Like no, this is cool just if people want to become a part.

39:55 Speaker 31: Of it, honestly, And I'm so proud of this. Everybody who's joined this has been so like okay with making sure that everybody has their time in the spotlight. You know, we're really good about sharing it and making it as much of a collaboration as possible.

Okay, we have probably like eight right now that are in our like what we call our set, which we'll bring to anywhere, and then we're we've got probably about four more that we're writing, and then maybe even like two or three acoustic songs on top of that, So we have we have a lot. We've got about twenty twenty or twenty five oh that we've that we've got floating around.

41:48 Speaker 17: If you're in a situation where like say you've got an hour of time to fill, obviously you can't play all of those.

41:55 Speaker 31: Honestly, the biggest part of it is like who's there? You know, oh that makes there and who knows so, and then I may kind of create a set list based upon who shows up. We've spent a lot of time making sure that everybody knows a little bit of everything, but still it kind of we kind of run into that sometimes, so we gear our sets on on who's there and who's ready to show up that day.
