9:30 Speaker 10: Like I feel like we haven't been doing many shows

9:33 Speaker 10: as of recently. We've been kind of focusing on recording

9:35 Speaker 10: new music. Yeah, we've got a music video coming out

9:39 Speaker 10: somewhat soon as well. Oh, so we've had a lot

9:43 Speaker 10: of focus on writing and everything, but uh, yeah, we're

9:45 Speaker 10: probably gonna try to book a lot more shows for

9:47 Speaker 10: the summer.

11:45 Speaker 10: Yeah, they're gonna be an upcoming EP.

11:47 Speaker 9: Oh so the EP is upcoming? Uh? Any idea when

11:51 Speaker 9: any kind of an et a?

11:52 Speaker 10: So we uh, we plan on releasing a single next Friday,

11:58 Speaker 10: and uh we we figure that, you know, may as

12:01 Speaker 10: well start plugging it here on the radio show. We

12:03 Speaker 10: haven't really talked about it much. Yeah, the EP is

12:07 Speaker 10: gonna be called the lunch Box EPA. And yeah, we're

12:11 Speaker 10: gonna be putting a single out. We don't have a

12:13 Speaker 10: release date quite yet for the actual EP itself. We're

12:18 Speaker 10: gonna start we're gonna start pushing that.

12:20 Speaker 9: What's the single?

12:22 Speaker 10: The single? It's gonna be freaking me out?

12:25 Speaker 9: Oh right, right right, okay, yes, yes, I have I

12:37 Speaker 9: When I was listening to these, like I said, you

12:38 Speaker 9: know earlier, like I said at the end of Pretty Girl,

12:41 Speaker 9: you know, your songs are heavy, but they're catchy. And

12:43 Speaker 9: I really like that because, like I said, you know,

12:46 Speaker 9: most bands they try to kind of be one or

12:48 Speaker 9: the other, you know, and and so you got I

12:51 Speaker 9: mean it sounds like, you know, really a lot of effort,

12:53 Speaker 9: like who are the songwriters in the band? Because it's

12:55 Speaker 9: it's it sounds like you really put like you think

12:58 Speaker 9: about the craft of songwriting and it shows in your music,

13:01 Speaker 9: like who writes the songs? Or do you all right together?

13:03 Speaker 18: All?

13:03 Speaker 3: Yeah?

13:04 Speaker 13: Yeah, yeah, all this stuff on the EP has been

13:07 Speaker 13: pretty much written by everybody at the same time.

13:11 Speaker 9: Yeah.

13:11 Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah, we have a pretty big hand in it.

13:14 Speaker 12: No, that's great, that's great, I do. I will give

13:17 Speaker 12: credit where credit is due. Rob comes up with incredible

13:19 Speaker 12: melodies right out the jump. We y, we come up

13:22 Speaker 12: with a riff idea and the rest of us are

13:24 Speaker 12: jamming it out and he just sings gibberish the first

13:27 Speaker 12: time around. But he always gets an awesome melody right

13:32 Speaker 12: out the jump. So we always where we we videotape

13:35 Speaker 12: ourselves practicing. Yeah, so we can come back to that

13:37 Speaker 12: and make sure we don't lose that melody, you know.

13:40 Speaker 9: That's that's a smart thing. I was in a band.

13:42 Speaker 9: This was a long time ago. I was in a

13:44 Speaker 9: band called First Shove, and we had we had a

13:46 Speaker 9: couple of songs that we were trying to work on

13:48 Speaker 9: one day at practice and like we we found ourselves

13:51 Speaker 9: actually forgetting parts to one of them, and it was

13:54 Speaker 9: a conversation. There was a conversation about maybe we should

13:56 Speaker 9: start recording, you know, because we would tend to write

13:58 Speaker 9: at our rehearsals and kind of be you know, we'd

14:00 Speaker 9: practice if we had shows, but we'd also write stuff

14:03 Speaker 9: at the same time. And and uh yeah, there was

14:05 Speaker 9: a point where we were actually forgetting things and it's like, oh,

14:07 Speaker 9: that's really bad.

14:09 Speaker 11: Yeah. Yeah, that's why we always do some sort of

14:12 Speaker 11: a video.

14:12 Speaker 12: Yeah, and we have a shared Google drive too, so

14:15 Speaker 12: we we always post up those. Every one of the

14:19 Speaker 12: songs that we've ever written has like fifteen different versions

14:22 Speaker 12: on video of the progression towards you know, the finished product.

14:26 Speaker 9: Yeah. That's a really good idea. Yeah, that's really smart.

14:29 Speaker 9: It helps, Yeah, definitely. You guys want to play another song,

15:35 Speaker 11: It's all consistent. Yeah, and it just came out so

15:38 Speaker 13: We learned a lesson there, which would be, if we

15:42 Speaker 13: think we're not going to just do three songs, we

15:43 Speaker 13: might as well just do it all at once.

19:47 Speaker 13: Yeah, we had a there was a previous iteration that

19:49 Speaker 13: were me and Rob singer Rob, and we released a

19:53 Speaker 13: four song EP with a couple guys back in twenty twenty.

20:43 Speaker 9: The doldrums?

20:46 Speaker 10: It's like al I came up with it. I mean

20:49 Speaker 10: like twenty eighteen when I started the bands, I like

20:52 Speaker 10: heard of the word and I was like, that would

20:55 Speaker 10: make a cool band name. It's like the the meaning

20:57 Speaker 10: of doldrums is like the part of the ocean where

21:00 Speaker 10: like boats like can't win there's like no wind, so

21:04 Speaker 10: they kind of sink.

21:06 Speaker 15: Stuck in place.

21:07 Speaker 9: I didn't know that was the etymology of the term. Yeah.

21:09 Speaker 10: So it's kind of like people say like I'm in

21:11 Speaker 10: the dol rooms, meaning like you know, they're almost like

21:14 Speaker 10: being like depressed.

21:15 Speaker 11: No progress yeaeah, okay, just a bunch of sad boys.

21:21 Speaker 15: A fitting uting name.

21:22 Speaker 9: Yeah yeah, yeah. I mean, while I don't know, the

21:25 Speaker 9: music's pretty high energy now, it's not like I didn't.

21:28 Speaker 9: I didn't know quite what to expect when I saw

21:30 Speaker 9: the name of the Doldrums. I thought it might be punk.

21:32 Speaker 9: I thought it might be like, you know, kind of

21:34 Speaker 9: more stoner metal. I don't know, how do you guys

21:36 Speaker 9: describe for people who haven't heard heard your sound? Like,

21:38 Speaker 9: how do you how do you describe it?

21:40 Speaker 15: That's really I don't think we know anything difficult.

21:42 Speaker 10: It's like its like I, at least personally have a

21:47 Speaker 10: lot of like garage rock influence. Yeah, so I kind

21:50 Speaker 10: of like try to show that in the band. I

21:52 Speaker 10: think we have some of that sound in there.

21:53 Speaker 21: Yeah.

21:55 Speaker 11: Yeah, it's really hard, but it kind of like started

21:57 Speaker 11: off as it was supposed to be, like funk.

22:00 Speaker 17: When I joined the band, that was kind of metal drummer. Yeah,

22:05 Speaker 17: I was a very heavy drummer and they were looking

22:07 Speaker 17: for that. And I think when I joined the band,

22:09 Speaker 17: I kind of got away from the surf punk thing,

22:12 Speaker 17: and I think we just kind of meshed.

22:13 Speaker 12: Yeah, so I do think we still dip back into

22:16 Speaker 12: the surf punk surf punk roots every once in a while.

22:18 Speaker 9: But yeah, yeah, I mean I can hear that. I

22:21 Speaker 9: can hear that mix of influences, and I can actually

22:24 Speaker 9: imagine you guys doing a surf punk song, you know.

22:27 Speaker 11: Yeah, yeah, I can hear that, and.

22:29 Speaker 17: I think that's why it's it's so like, you know,

22:31 Speaker 17: we have some tracks that are very heavy and then

22:32 Speaker 17: they're very melodic. Yeah, like we we kind of just

22:36 Speaker 17: thrive off each other with that.

22:37 Speaker 5: Yeah.

22:37 Speaker 9: So is there anybody in the area that you guys

22:40 Speaker 9: play a lot of shows with, you know, it kind

22:42 Speaker 9: of happens organically sometimes, yeahs yeah.

22:49 Speaker 12: Definitely, granitears okay, yeah yeah, but I mean, honestly, we

22:55 Speaker 12: haven't played that many live shows overall. Yeah, it's we

23:00 Speaker 12: we We've spent a lot of time on this EP. Yeah, yeah,

23:04 Speaker 12: going into the studio and getting these recordings.

23:06 Speaker 5: Yeah.

23:07 Speaker 9: What's interesting about you guys doing a lot of shows

23:08 Speaker 9: with the Regels is obviously they have a very different
