Today is Saturday, May fourth, twenty to twenty four, and I am
not alone. Jenny is here at the news table reading Sunshine said that wrong?
What do you mean it is? What did I say the fourth with
you? Oh? Yes, yes, the Star Wars reference more of a
more of a treky myself. I go, I like, yeah, I
don't know. I like, I never kept up. Well, I haven't
kept up with either one of them. There's just way too much content to
keep up with. But I'm the early years of Rich so the latter years
of Star Wars. I have no idea. I remember when I was a
kid. You know, my dad listens to the show, so he'll I'm
sure he'll remember this. I remember uh freaking out one time, throwing a
terrible temper tantrum because uh uh, for some reason, he wanted to maybe
we weren't going to be able to go on Sunday. He wanted to bring
me to church. It was a Saturday night and Star Trek was on,
and I was very upset. I did not want to uh miss Star Trek
for church. So I think he gave it and brought me home. From
what I remember, because really because I was you were that much of a
brat? Huh, well, not generally, not generally. I was actually
very well behaved as a child. But for some reason, I just remember
that night just freaking out. I was very angry. Why did you have
to go on a church on a Saturday Why? I don't know what the
reason was. Maybe we weren't going to be able to go the next day
for some reason, because we always went on Sunday. But but I remember
it being at night. Oh and so I think it was going to Saturday
night Mass and at Saint John's and conquered, and I just remember I was
freaking out. I was very upset. Well, now, yes, I
think you started the show by saying something like the fourth of May, which
is just wrong. I don't know what I said. I don't remember.
I forgot all about that. Well, we get to do it once a
year. Yeah, that's true, that is true. We've got a great
show for you today. Coming up in the second hour, the band Choshek
is joining us from Pittsburgh, PA. They're gonna be skyping in. Really
looking forward to talking with them. I was they sent us some music to
play and uh, and then last night I was up listening to some of
their other music that they hadn't sent us. They've got an album on band
Camp called seven, and I was listening to the other songs. I'm really
fascinated with that band, so looking forward to talking with them. So they're
gonna be joining us in the second hour via skype, and then in the
third hour our friend Ray Coates will be skyping in from the UK. Yes,
and uh, this is kind of a special one because one of the
tracks that we're going to be playing and discussing I happen to be on I
know, so I know. Yeah, he actually I am. And he
just did a live fuse. He did a live special. We listen four
songs. I'm sure he'll talk about it, but I got to actually watch
the entire thing and the songs were excellent. Yeah. He did it in
conjunction with another gentleman, Yes, John Cheatham. Yeah, because the uh,
the songs are from a soundtrack called, uh, The Fall Guy,
The Story of John Chatham. Yes, I think I have the title right,
Yes, I do. I think you do have it right. And
John John Sheatham sent me his book, which I've not had a chance to
read yet. Unfortunately, I will get It's hard with my schedule to get
to all these things, but I do want to read it because, uh,
you might remember and listeners might recall. The last time Ray was on
with us. He told us the story and you know, not only of
how they met and began collaborating on this project, because the book then became
you know, this soundtrack for it. But but John Chatham's story is pretty
fascinating. He wrote the lyrics, yeah, yeah, he wrote, and
then Ray turned it all into music, and incredible music. The songs are
excellent, excellent, and I was very honored that I was asked to contribute
my voice to one of the songs called Horsepower, which was which is really
called I Hear You, which we will we will play today. Is not
your first four way into music. Of course you've done many, many,
many songs, but this was really cool to hear you. I've been in
I counted it the other day. I've been in one hundred and seventeen different
bands. But uh, are you really serious? Oh no, no,
no, I'm sorry. I forgot one one hundred eighteen Yeah, yeah,
which one did you forget? Uh? I don't remember now, there's too
many to keep track of Yeah, No, was it that rap thing you
did a while back, you know, the one that started all the trouble?
Oh when I was M Sizzle my alter ego. Oh yeah, that
one M Sizzle might have been I might have been beef in that. That's
right, that's right. Yes, they we're gonna come get you. So
the first hour we've got a couple of things that we'll try to get to,
some subjects related to music. But if you would like to join the
discussion at any point, you can uh six oh three two five six seven.
The studio line is open six O three two five six seven. You
can also text us at six one seven nine one seven four four seven six
h hit me on social media at Matt Connerton. You can email me Matt
at Matt connorton dot com, and of course you can interact onto Opine in
the Facebook live chat. But the best thing to do so that we can
hear and enjoy your Dulca tones is to give us a call at six O
three two five six seven. By the way, I see textas Mic is
in the Facebook chat. He says good morning, folks, Uh listening from
work, very he posted he went twelve Tacos at Tacotorious. Oh, yes,
the Taco Tour, which was apparently very very well attended. Well.
Speaking of attending good events, the Mosaic Arn't Collective is another show coming up.
I was just thinking about that because I dropped off your Uh. I
dropped off your painting while Taco Tour was going on, so those which is
crazy that you actually did that. I didn't. I didn't expect you to
try and grow way through the Elm Street, but you made it. Oh,
it wasn't hard. I parked in the Uh. Yeah, I just
I parked a couple of twenty thousand people walk not even exaggerating rock. Yeah,
but I didn't well, I didn't have to actually go like. I
didn't try to park on Elm Street obviously, No, I just parked.
I parked a few I parked like four blocks away from Mosaic. It wasn't
a big deal and it hadn't started raining yet. But yes, I did
drop off your painting during Taco Tour, which is called joy Bubbles. Mm
hmm. It was actually a really fun painting to do. But there is
a jeried art show coming up called The Resurgence of Arts of the Botanical Resurgence
art of the Botanical I said that a little bit twisted, didn't I sorry
about that. The mosaic Are Collective's opening reception will be held on Saturday,
May eleventh, from four to eight pm. I of course will be there
as I am honored to be hanging on their wall for my second show with
them, which is excellent. The gallery is located on Hanover Street here in
Manchester, next door to the Palace Theater in the Daily Mirror building that is
at sixty six Hanover Street, Sweet two one here in Manch, Vegas.
I hope to see you there. Really honored to be able to hang on
their walls with a lot of incredible artists. It's an amazing gallery, it
really is. If you haven't been there, you should absolutely go check it
out. It was kind of funny too, because you thought at one point
that you hadn't gotten in because you hadn't you hadn't received no. I didn't
think any I had actually submitted more than one painting, yeah, and the
I thought that the notifications were going out on Sunday and I didn't hear anything
at all, and I'm like, oh, yeah, none of them made
it well. You know, I tried, none of them made it.
And then the next morning, Monday, I woke up, two, congratulations,
you've made it through the during process to be in the show. Oh
my god, I did it. Yeah yeah, no, that was pretty
cool. That was pretty cool. I really didn't think that I had made
it, which is you know, it's fine. I mean, yeah,
you know, you never know. It's not easy to get into two art
shows. So right, Yeah, pretty excited, feeling like I was a
five just given a new bicycle when I read that email. Yeah, yeah,
no doubt, no doubt. Oh I am excited about it. Jay
Bellow is in the Facebook live chat, of course, from the band Chasing
the Devil. So Jay, I don't know if you heard the opening of
the show, but I played from I found it on Spotify. Yeah,
we had never played this one, the track Loco from Chasing the Devil,
because I was poking around on Spotify and because they never promoted that unless I
missed it, they never promoted that as a single. So I found that
song on Spotify. I was like, Hey, what's this. That's really
good. So we were listening to it before the show and we were like,
we have to play this so if you missed it. Of course,
last week was the world radio premiere of the brand new Chasing the Devil track
Drowning. But then I found Loco, so that might have been a world
radio premiere. I don't know if Loco has been playing on the radio at
all. Like I said, they didn't promote it as a single that I
that I'm aware of. But great, great song, great song, another
song to add into rotation on my playlist. Oh yeah, yeah, really
good. So and they've got from what I saw on social media, they've
got more music coming and uh and some live dates coming to Yeah. Excellent
band, excellent fans if you get a chance to see them, or at
least give them a listen on Spotify or your chosen musical source. Uh sure,
go with that. Yeah, I kind of lost. I wasn't sure
where I was going with that one. Spotify is the big one. You
had just said it, So it's an easy Carol's z the Warwitz joins us
in the chat and says, good morning, Good morning, Carol, morning
sunshine. It is sunny out today. Yes, there's some people out there.
I saw graduates all around in caps and gowns. Graduation. Yeah,
yes, yes, oh, more young ends off into the world. Yes,
absolutely, absolutely, I think we should, uh, I think we
should talk about this Drake thing and Drake and Kendrick Lamar. You know,
I didn't know about this, by the way, I didn't know. I
didn't know this was going on either. Apparently they're beefan. We hear that
word a lot on the show back when, you know, back in the
day, back in the day we were talking about Plus it's a fun word
to say, beefin. I like to say, with a deep voice,
beefin. They've got beef. But somewhat I think it will go a little
lower now what what it reminded me of though long time listeners might recall,
and this this goes back several years now, but long time listeners might recall
or even if or if you've been following me on social media for many years,
that I once had a beef with mc hammer. Of course, yes,
the mc hammer. Uh. For for several months I lived in constant
fear that mc hammer was going to come to New Hampshire and murder me.
It was very frightening. He called the show one day. He was very
threatening, you know, and of course location on the id too. Yeah,
yeah, so yeah, that's right. They were coming to get you.
That's right. It was where does he live? Trying to remember now
Oakland, Oakland, California. And it started showing up quite a bit on
your your top locals for listening. That actually is true. That really,
that actually is true on on my uh my web analytics. I was I
was getting web traffic out of Oakland, California. That part, that part's
not a not a bit an. I wonder if they remember you, well,
I don't know. I worry about that. Maybe if you make that
up, maybe they've been letting me. I mean it's been a number of
years now, maybe they've just been letting me get Now we will remember you
for certain, because he was really upset with you whom hammer. Yeah,
yeah, he was very upset with you. Put his peepsy I might have
new peeps. They might not pick up on it. That's what I worry
about. He might slide under the radar this time. And of course there's
my alter ego M Sizzle and even the People's mayor got him back. No,
I'm not going to I think I think M. Sizzle's retired some of
his too much. Yeah, yes, yes, M Sizzle thought he was
the greatest rapper alive. All that in the baggage chip mm hmmmm. So
but I was reminded of that. And of course, if you're interested in
the uh, the saga uh that I had with mc hammer, if you
go on YouTube, actually, if you go to my YouTube channel, i
PM nation, you can you can find all of that. Just to a
search, just to uh to search em C Hammer, Matt Connorton, it'll
all come up and just uh it will wait, do you see, and
you'll understand why I was spending my days living in fear and quivering with the
uh anticipation and dread of of what I thought was going to be my impending
doom at the hands of mc hammer. Anyway, so apparently. But the
the other thing that that struck me about this uh Drake and Kendrick Lamar beef.
I feel that this whole concept of beefs and hip hop has changed over
the years, because I seem to recall and those of you who are old
enough to remember, of course, back in the nineties, you know,
we lost a couple of big you know, we had the whole East coast
West Coast thing, and we lost Biggie and we lost Tupac and Hails of
Gunfire. And but what you're talking about like Kendrick Lamar and Drake, you
know, there's not gonna be any violence here. So I would be very
shocked. These don't seem like violent maybe not nat, they're not violent people.
But what I was interested, I mean, Drake is Canadian. I
don't think they even like this all started. You know how long ago this
started? No, you know, I was shocked about that. You know
more about this than me. I didn't even know about this until you brought
it to my attention. Well it's it's really high. I mean it's like
it's like trending number one on Billboard. Everybody's talking about this. This started
back in twenty twelve. And you know what, It started with d MX.
I was very very upset at his passing a couple of years ago.
Yep, yep, yep. I guess he went after Drake's character in his
fashion sense, and boy, they really went at it. This is so,
this has been going on for twelve years. Hang on, we have
a call and the caller idea is not showing me who this is. Oh
boy, this could be MC hammer. I could be in trouble all over
again, started it all up again. Hi, welcome to Matt Connor to
unleash. Who's this? It's virtual Dave Ridley, Virtual Daviridley. Oh my
god, I thought you were mc hammer calling to kill me. Nope,
I was calling to do something worse. I was calling to change the subject.
Well, Dave, the format of the show has changed a bit,
so go ahead and tell me what the subject is and I'll tell you if
we can get into that or not. Yeah. Bitcoin Pizza Day, Bitcoin
Pizza Day, are all pizzas free? You probably have to use bitcoin to
pay for him? No, I that the bitcoin people would pay for it.
Oh, I don't know, but I do like coin. See,
sorry, David, go ahead. Yeah, it's going to be a celebration
in Keene on May twenty second. I guess the details are at free king
dot com. But we celebrate how well our currency, you know, sort
of, the libertarian currency is doing against the government currency, outperforming it by
a factor of sixty thousand to one. Well, what I am most concerned
with in an instance like this is, of course pizza. How much of
that is influenced by the people paying ransoms? With bitcoin. Oh, I
don't know. We can't get we can't get in that in any detail,
Dave, Like I said, the is there a bitcoin song? The format,
Oh, the format has changed a bit on this iteration of the program,
although we are going to be there is going to be a podcast version
completely separate from w M and H, where we can get get back into
some of these these issues. Dave. But uh, but but anything involving
pizza, though, is is always of relevance on any format of any show
that I do. Because uh, as I like to say, and Jenny
knows this, of course, it's my stomach's world. You all just live
in it. As long as the plan will be in the future. In
the future, what I'll do when I call, I'll just call about pizza,
and I'll tell you. I'll complain about how the government is affected the
price of pizza, and then I will tell you how freedom is a solution
still the wrong show as long as I have the freedom to ingest pizza with
pineapple. No, no pineapple, Dave, pineapple or no, I believe
and as pepperoni. We'll get Dave's opinion because Dave, I think, uh,
I think you're a somewhat reasonable man. But no, we love you,
Dave. You know that, but but I do need to know,
and this will affect how I feel about you as a person. Pineapple or
no pineapple, no pineapples, all right, Dave? Good with pine pepperino.
I can't say it pepperino pepperoni, As I often say, Dave,
I'm not myself a religious man, but I do believe pineapple on pizza is
a sin against God. I firmly believe that I'd still eat it. Oh
God, really? Why it's pizza? Yeah, icy and sweet. It's
tastes so good together. You know what. You know, what's the worst
thing about it to me is you can't even like you can pick Sometimes,
if you don't like a topping, right, you can just pick it off
and still eat it. And I've done that. But with pineapple, you
really can't because you pick it off and it still leaves all this pineapple residue.
It's so good you can still taste it melts into the pepperoni, spicy,
sweety, numbiness. So no pineapple, but you would still eat it.
I feel like you're you're kind of, you know, riding the fence
there, David. You know, but that's all right. But at least
you at least you don't. You wouldn't go, You wouldn't ask for it.
If you were ordering pizza, you wouldn't ask for pineapple though. Correct,
No, okay, But the salient point here is that you know,
in roughly twenty ten, when that when the first person ever bought first bitcoin
transaction, guy bought a pizza and it cost him thousands of bitcoin. Now
you can buy thousands of pizza with a bitcoin, but over the same time,
the federal government's currency has gone down in value. Thousands of pizzas.
I like the way you're thinking that might be a bit much. I don't
know. I think I at storage space for that. I might get into
the cryptocurrency if I can buy thousands of pizzas with it, didn't have to
roll you down the street. Ah, that's true. It won't work.
Yeah, that might not work. Am I going to get you in the
house? He can't push you up the stairs. That's true. Maybe I
roll back down on my head. Maybe just hundreds of pizza. That'd be
a good compromise. My metabolism will abide that. I think now I want
pineapple and pepperoni pizza no pineapple, yes, ninus all right, Dave.
Well, David, is wonderful to hear from you. Like I said,
we don't there's certain things we used to do on our afternoon drive show that
we don't really do anymore. This is more you know, we interview a
lot of musicians and other creative people and so forth, so we don't really
get into the political stuff in this format. But there will be another venue
to do that separate. I mean, this show will continue, of course,
this will always be our flagship, but we're also going to do something
separate online, and we will certainly love to have you on for some discussions
on that iteration of the program when that happens at some point in the future.
Good. Thanks, Yeah, I was just waiting. I knew you're
on on Saturday mornings, and I just waited to make sure you didn't have
any guests before calling in. But I was never able to find a point
where you were talking to politics, so I just yeah, I want to
ahead and called. I hope that's all right. Absolutely, no, Dave,
you are always you are all welcome to call us. We do enjoy
hearing from you. Absolutely. Thank all right, Dave. Thanks for the
call. Oh do you want to plug the Ridley Report before you go report
dot com? Very good? All right, Dave, we'll talk to you
soon. I'm sure. Take care man, Okay, bye, all right,
bye bye. Yeah. I haven't heard from Dave Ridley in a long
time. True, I'm excited. Why because Jay said that really was a
world premiere. Oh good, good good, yeah, excellent, excellent,
very happy love it. I love the World Premium. That's a great track.
It's really it's it's just like three minutes of adrenaline, really really good,
really good. Oh. By the way, hello to a Mariam Banish
who has joined us in the Facebook las chat, as well as Melanie la
Liberte from the great state of Vermont. Uh, if you would like to
join us, uh six O three two five O six oh seven. The
studio line is open six O three two five O six o seven. But
yeah, we were just talking about before Dave's call this Uh oh, yes,
you were going to tell us where this started, something to do with
DMX, this feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar. So I guess this all
started. Really, it doesn't sound like it started from something that was intended
to be bad. In that there was a guy named katot Okay who did
like he fired off, respectfully threatening a barrage against the biggest rappers at the
time. So he pretty much named everybody j Cole, Big, kr It
t Will and started to just kind of taget everybody. But my understanding is
it wasn't taken well. So he was trying to So this guy, what's
his name, Katot, he was trying to get publicity. Yeah, I
believe the young people call that clout chasing. Well, they were like a
name mentioning slung shot on Lam's twenty thirteen Control, on which kay Dot fired
this off. So he guested on Lamar's and they fired off all these different
names and made comments and I don't it doesn't sound like it was intended to
be anything hard, but apparently that was the start. Drake took offense he
was mentioned and they've been beefing ever since. Ever since. Well, what
does that have to do with Kendrick Lamar and DMX, I'm confused. So
it was, by the way, I would never do the cloud chase Lamar.
Yeah, it was Lamar's album and the song Control where kay Dot guested,
I guess. Oh, and then he fired off a barrage and named
a bunch of people. So Kendrick Lamar gave Ka Dot the venue, right,
they were like, they collabed, Yeah, collab Is this this this
track? Yes? Yes, and that started it all apparently, and apparently,
uh, somehow or another, DMX is involved in all of this,
and I'm not exactly This is like trying to read the script of a soap
opera, not even kidding, I'm not even remotely kidding, trying to follow
this. There's an article on vulture dot com if you want to to look
it up. It's extensive. Okay, I mean this is extensive. I
guess DMX at one point hopped on a radio show that was called The Breakfast
Club on Power one oh five point one. Very familiar with it. That's
a very successful show. Yes, Charlemagne the God is the host, stand
a couple other people. So I guess on that interview, DJ Envy pressed
DMX about, you know, what was going on with Drake and Lamar,
and I guess DMX kind of shrugged his shoulders and said, uh, I
don't like anything about Drake. I don't like his voice, I don't like
what he talks about I don't like his face, I don't like the way
he walks like nothing, I don't like his haircut. I'm gonna let me
stop right there. Oh my goodness. Yeah, DMX he went in.
I think they say that he went way wow. Yeah wow. M hm.
So that wasn't taken too well. Yeah yeah. So then I guess
when DJ DMX rather did another appearance. He went on Woollywood and he told
dj wu Kid that his issues with Drake ain't that serious, and then started
telling a story about a girl who had gone on tour with him, and
then curiously decided against durring Moore drama and kind of dropped the subject. So
there's a girl involved here. Of course, there's always got to be a
Yoko in there. So most people, I guess thought that the interviews were
kind of funny or fun Yeah. And then I guess there were collab continuing
collaborations with Kendrick Lamar and DMX, and I guess Kendrick did something called poetic
Justice, and somehow that gets involved in this. I kind of lost with
that. Some of this language. I'm trying to skip around here, because
let's just say that Vulture doesn't cut out any bad words. There are words
we just cannot use in this venue, to use the I'm trying to appeal
to the French people. So oh my gosh, this is just it's kind
of hard to follow it all. So I guess all right, so DMX.
Both of the DMX interviews were hilarious enough for rap fans with a sense
of humor. DMX was legitimately funny now to appreciate the sad boy being taken
down a peg among those people. Well, Kendrick Lamar, despite collaborations in
twenty eleven twenty twelve on Drake's Buried Live and Kendrick's Poetic Justice, Respectfully,
Kendrick would pop in on the show and joyously tell the story of first hearing
Ex's breakfast club interview. After a long night on tour, Lamar was woken
up by his crew losing their minds. I'm wondering why these and in the
front of the bus just cracking up, hitting walls and stuff, he said,
swinging his arms. I'm like, dog, what the you know?
You you know talking about? They muted the stop laughing, and I just
hear X going off on the laptop, just spassing. Yep. That was
it. After the moment, the two would never make music together again.
Oh my, yeah. You know. The thing about it is and people
need to remember, you know, words, words can hurt. Now they
can also heal, but they can hurt. And these guys have been tossing
words at each other apparently for twelve years, and there are artists, and
artists are very sensitive. It just goes and there's more people asap gets involved
in this, and then everybody's writing about everybody else. Yeah, well how
do you say it? It says A and then a money sign and then
ap, oh okay, I might be thinking of somebody. That's why I
was thinking it was a sad might yeah, yeah, yeah, okay,
I know who you're talking about. The thing is, I always wonder,
you know, how much of this is uh, how much of it is
people being legitimately mad, and how much of it is people just trying to
keep the beef going because the thing is and and there are This is not
only a hip hop, of course, there are other examples of this too,
where sometimes if there's conflict it it actually helps everybody involved because it's you
know, it's like like when you do a radio show or a podcast and
you have some sort of a feud, you know, And I'm thinking of
somebody's specific whose name we don't mention anymore on the show, but let's just
say he's, you know, the guy from New York. Yeah sometimes or
or I'd like to get something out of my conflict with Tom Gully, but
he won't play with me like you he No, he despises me, Tom
Gully, And it's all one way because I have no problem with him,
but he hates me anyway. But the thing is, though, with these
kinds of feuds, if you play it right, everyone benefits because it creates
inentrist, it creates buzz, it gets people talking, it's it's you know,
free publicity. So I always wonder, like, especially like with Drake
and Kendrick Lamar, like these are smart guys. Are I cannot help?
But wonder are either of them genuinely angry with the other or do they just
keep this going because it's actually good for them? Like you said, you
know, this is a big story, and really all it is it's just
two guys and and some other ancillary players who are upset with each other.
But are they really or are they just playing the game? You know?
Yeah? And then they just seem to like to fire things off back and
forth to each other in their song, so there's always that crazy connection going
on. But I wonder, if this has been going on for twelve years,
if they actually really don't like you know what I mean? Yeah,
I mean, it's possible fight with so many for twelve years and not end
up disliking them. You can't fake it for that long, can you.
I sure couldn't. I don't mean, I'm not someone who holds grudges anyway,
So it's hard to even imagine like holding on especially because of something somebody
says in a song or something you know, like. But but then again,
I mean I come at it from the standpoint of I actually, as
you know, I enjoy having a few haters. It's fine. I think
it's kind of fun, you know what I mean. I think I've always
had haters. No, I mean, I don't know. If you got
you gotta lean into it. Melanie in the chat room says, sure,
words can hurt, but crowbars hurt more. That's what my That's what my
grandma used to say. Well, I hope there's no crowbars involved in this
beef. And Grandma didn't hit you with the crow bars. Yes, that
would be sounds bad. Frankly, that would be unacceptable. I would say,
I don't think, uh, I don't think, you know, I
wanted to be a peaceful world. I don't think anyone should be any anybody
with crowbars. Uh. To be honest, you know, I don't even
like you know, we're big wrestling fans, but I don't even like when
the you know, matches with weapons in them. I don't. I don't
like that very much. I like to see people wrestle, you know what
I mean. No, but but uh, but but this whole thing,
I mean, you know, it's it's helping both of them. I'm sure
it's it's generating interest. Well. The person of this that wrote the Vultures
article seems to think that it's like two worlds colliding. Has an interesting way
of describing them, says, uh, these guys at the top of the
mountain couldn't be on are different paths. Drake, if he came from dots
World, wouldn't have survived given his slinky backbone. While Drake believes that Kato's
greatness is illegitimate because of how long he takes between albums, one is Abacrovi
and Fitch and boat shoes. The other is white tank tops and Nike Cortes.
Neither are really putting it on for real, but it still clashes.
Hmmm, interesting way of writing that. Yes, I like that. Uh
who wrote the Well, Drake Drake is very you know, he'st Canadian and
he's very Uh. I think he was. Was he on Nickelodeon when he
was a kid or something? Drake is Drake is very safe. I think
so something like that or or whatever the equivalent is in Canada. I don't
know, Hope, I don't Butcher. This guy's name, Tera con Love
is a New York senior writer covers culture for Vulture, And that's the writer
who I like that ending. I like that, that imagery. We've played
Kendrick Lamar song we were when we were on in afternoons we would play during
Black History Month. There's there's at least one Kendrick Lamar song we would play,
and I've always liked Kendrick Lamar. I haven't listened to any Kendrick Lamar
in a long time. Drake. I can only think of one Drake song
I actually like. Although the one song that I like, I like it
a lot nice for what I've played that on the show the radio edit,
of course. Oh yeah, but that that is catchy as hell. It's
from like five or six years ago. But now, which one do you
think is more negative? See? I don't perceive either of them as being
negative in terms of their messaging or how they present themselves. No, well,
no, I mean, do you mean that we're talking about them dissing
each other and their songs? Yeah, so that's what I'm saying. Which
one seems to go I don't know darker or what. I don't know because
I haven't listened to Uh, I'm just learning about this particular beef, which
is crazy because apparently, like I said, this has been going on for
twelve years. Twelve years, twelve years of beef gets tired of fighting about
each other? No, like I said, though it's material, I mean,
you always get the other one, Like I said, what it was
something new to right? Yeah, like I said, there's business reasons for
uh, you know, and some people never uh, some people never get
tired of being mad at somebody, Like I said, you know, again,
I'm thinking about the guy from New York. Yeah, you know,
he's gonna be he's gonna be mad at us till the day he dies,
you know. Oh, well, sounds like once Drake gets into something,
though, he doesn't like to let it go. Yeah. Yeah, from
what I'm seeing, because this article goes into some more details but makes no
makes a mention that when the d X drama started, it went down a
year before Drake suddenly brings it up again on Vibe and starts talking about how
he kind of messed with the rollout of his twenty thirteen album Nothing Was the
Same because it may have been the loudest siren initiated the Aubrey and the Dot
cold war that Drake dropped. Quote the language on the twenty thirteen NWTS,
which came out of the gate with a subt X at K Dot. I
don't know why they've been lying, but your s is not that inspiring.
Yeah. Later in the same verse, he goes into f word any uh,
and well, we get talking the we got the idea. I mean,
they say, let's just say call them a motormouth kids. They say
they say very mean things about each other. It's uh, he says,
been dissecting your motormouth till I break down the engine this ain't no warning shot.
This is a revelant henchman, ooh, I like that. Actually see
my opponent. Then cease your existence now, that's that. That cease your
existence. That's that's not too bad. I did not like the I mean
a lion with inspiring that. I felt that I felt was cheating a little
bit. I did not think that that flowed correctly, and I I objected
that it's all in where you put the emphasis. I know, yess,
you have to put the emphasis on the correct salable, but uh yeah,
I didn't. I didn't like that. But that last one there that you
read, No, that's that's good. That was pretty good. That's good
your motormount I like that. Yeah, this ain't no warning shot. This
is a revenue henchman. Yeah, that that's that's the line. I like
that one, the one. I like that one. The one. Yeah,
yeah, henchmen, that's good stuff. Yeah, that's the distounding words.
Uh huh, yes. I don't see this ending at any time soon.
Sounds like these guys are going to go back and forth until they stop
writing. Well, not necessarily eventually. Uh. Sometimes people make up like
nas and jay Z. That was they How long were they beefing. They
were beefing a long time, and then, uh, I think Nas signed
to jay Z's record label or management team or something. But he's a unique
individual in that I noticed that he actually won. Nas. He's to me,
he seems to go out of his way to try and be positive at
all times. Even when I've seen him in the face of something negative being
said to him, he tends, no, no, no, that's a
different guya. Little nas X is a very very different guy. No,
I'm talking about Nas Nas Nash one of the best. Sorry, Okay,
then I have no clue what I'm saying anymore. Yeah, I don't know
who Little nas X just you know. I like him. Oh fine,
he's happy. He's controversial, but I don't even in the face of negativity
he flips it. Yeah, I love it. No, Nas and jay
Z had a long standing feud, but then they had thought about the others.
Then they had some kind of they finally, if I remember correctly,
it culminated in a they had a public rat battle and they ended up shaking
hands at the end of it, and then they kind of just became friends.
I don't see these guys doing that. They probably will who knows.
Well VIA's are writing about each other, they've never sat down, it seems.
Yeah, I don't know. I mean I think I think NAS and
jay Z probably feuded for more than twelve years. Yeah, it can happen.
Well, anything's possible. Yes, anything's possible. But if the answer
is what you say, and they're just really enjoying being attacking each other for
the fact of making money, then I don't see an end if that's the
case. Miriam in the chatroom says anything can be a weapon. I just
read a news story about a woman who stabbed her husband with a ceramic squirrel
because he failed to bring home pizza. That's uh, listen, as you
know, I'm passionate about pizza, but I don't think I would stab somebody
over it. Well, maybe, if like I ordered it a certain way
and it came with pineapple, I might. And the other one that made
you pizza. No you talk about stabbing nobody. No, no, But
I'm just saying if, like, if I was having pizza delivered and the
pizza guy brought me up a pineapple pizza, I would probably take great.
I don't think I would. I'm not a violent person, but I would
take great offense, and I might give him a certain talking to, or
at the very least glare at him menacingly. Go ahead, No, eat
it by myself. Pineapple on pizza is nummy. Jay Bellow says, I
always keep a ceramic squirrel in my truck for protection. I think that's wise.
I have a ceramic cat, as you know, that I keep in
the car, which doesn't sound like it would do much, but according to
the description on Amazon, it does shoot out lasers. But I haven't tried
it yet. Lasers come out of its eyes. Really. Yeah, if
you if you what what it's supposed to do, is you you pat it.
If you're in danger right, someone's approaching you, you start patting the
ceramic cat. It begins to vibrate because it's purring, and that is supposed
to scare the person who's coming towards you, and then if they continue to
advance toward you, it automatically shoots lasers from its eyes as it hisses.
Yeah. It's it's very The technology that is available is I mean, it's
an amazing time to be alive, is what I'm saying. Really, because
you can do that kind of thing. But I don't know if it actually
works. It takes a it takes a couple of double A batteries, and
it's supposed to protect you. Yeah, did they come in a pocket sized
model? Do they make tea? There's a kitten? You can get a
ceramic kitty. I don't know. That could be fun. Melanie law Liberty
says, can you look at the camera and glare menacingly so we know what
you mean? Let's see while for those of you watching on Facebook, I
suppose I can try. See what I do is I furrow my brow and
then I look menacing. I'll tell you what if I looked at a pizza
guy the way I just did at the camera, they'd probably just drop the
pizza and run away in fear, and I'd be stuck with this pizza that
I don't want. But at least I wouldn't have to tip them. You
can get me a rusty spotted cat because the only weigh between two and four
pounds. Yeah, why he carry that around? Oh and then if somebody
upsets me, you can scratch it right right, you like, just take
out the little pocket kitty. Whew. But how do you uh, how
do you get the cat to uh, like, would you throw the cat
at the person, and because how would you get gentle squeeze? But how
would you get the cat to scratch them? Just a gentle squeeze, you
know, and then the class come out. Okay, train it, Yeah,
a little squeeze, and well you'd probably want to have some sort of
a pole or something that you could put the cat on. So you because
I want a dancing cat on a pole, you know what I'm saying.
I want to because then you put the cat at the end of a pole,
and then you you swipe at the person with the cat on the pole,
and as their claws are extended, it will scratch the other person because
otherwise we're close combats. Well, I was gonna say, I mean,
you know that person is going to have to be pretty close for you to
scratch them with the cat that you're just holding the cat, you have to
keep it close. Well, but then how's that going to help you?
So it's the last resort. Okay, when they get close to you,
then, right, so that a gentle squeeze and the claws come out.
So if you're being physically mugged, you know that hopefully the cat comes out
and scratches and the gentle squeeze and yeah, so you would tell the you
would tell the person approaching you, I've got a I've got a kitten only
two pounds. Yeah huh. I have to go to India. That's where
they have them. Yes, okay, it's on the Indian subcontinent. Uh
huh. The rusty spotted cat like little guineas two pounds, I'd be afraid
of. I'd be afraid of having a cat that was really tiny. Why,
well, just you know, they get caught in furniture or something.
I don't know. They fall into the couch cushions and then you can't find
them because they're so small. But if they're so small, they can fall
out the bottom and climb out. Well, I suppose that's true. See
Rocky Huber joins the Sidney Facebook live chat, says a big fan, Hello,
Rocky. Miriam said there was also a news story on Stern many years
ago about a man using a frozen squirrel as a weapon. Squirrels as weapons
seems to be a theme she's finding here, which is interesting. I've never
heard of such a thing. Yeah, I mean, I know you don't
want to be bitten by one because they often carry disease. Yes, yes,
I've heard that. Well, we are already approaching the top of the
hour. But I will just say I hope that I hope that Kendrick,
Lamar and Drake can come to some sort of a daytime. Yeah. But
uh, we'll see what happens. We'll see what the future brings. They
should go to India. Why they could go up to the Temple mountains with
the monks and they could teach him to chill and find peace together. Yeah.
I don't know if that will help their art. And if it doesn't
work, they can pick up a kitty and they can scratch each other.
Oh my goodness, Now that's that's terrible. We don't want to encourage that.
Kill two birds with one stone. Uh oh no, now we're killing
birds. Oh well, yes, that's not good. That's not good to
feed the kiddy. Birds like to kill I mean cats like to kill birds.
True, they're not me. That's why you don't. That's why if
you know, if you have a bird and you have a cat, you
want to make sure the bird is safe in the cage. Although I don't
know. I could never bring a bird into our house because prince would have
lunch real quick. I could never do it because I don't I don't understand.
That's something I've just never unders stood. Why no offense to anyone who
has a pet bird. I don't know why that's okay to put a bird
in a cage. I genuinely don't know. I know, but domesticated to
me, it just seems so cruel that they can't fly. Yeah, they
put a bird in a cage. They can't fly. Of all the animals
on earth, to put in a cage a bird, doesn't that seem wrong.
I don't get it. I don't know why people think it's okay to
do that. I've never met him. To let them fly because a lot
of times they clip their wings so they can't. I know. It is
actually pretty sad. That's awful. I don't get it. Again, no
offense, No offense to anyone who has birds. But why is that okay?
I don't know? Anyway, All right, we uh, we got
