Speaker 2: the ladies scream if I do.

Speaker 3: Hello to our new friends in Australia.
Speaker 6: By the way, General Scotty down there and at Dare
Speaker 6: Talk Radio, and we've been talking with Scott a lot
Speaker 6: and uh now there's a whole.
Speaker 3: Backstory to that which we will get into here.
Speaker 6: But yeah, let's just say someone is someone is a
Speaker 6: little upside with me right now, even though they won't
Speaker 6: admit it publicly.
Speaker 3: It's a whole thing. It's a whole thing.
Speaker 6: But we don't talk about that here on this iteration
Speaker 6: of the program because we keep things very positive here
Speaker 6: on wm and H ninety five point three FM, where
Speaker 6: we are of course broadcasting from here in Glorious Manchester,
Speaker 6: New Hampshire, and we've got a great show for you today.
Speaker 6: It is Saturday July eleven, twenty to twenty six, and
Speaker 6: welcome everybody. Coming up in just a few minutes, we're
Speaker 6: gonna be talking with Ruben Wetton. I'm not sure if
Speaker 6: he's gonna be We're gonna be talking to.
Speaker 3: Him via WhatsApp. I'm not sure exactly where he is though.
Speaker 6: Interesting guy. He's moved around a lot geographically. He might
Speaker 6: be in the United States, he might be in Mexico.
Speaker 6: Not sure so, but we'll talk with him. He's got
Speaker 6: quite a background. Then coming up in the second hour,
Speaker 6: we have Aaron billdoh and we did feature one of
Speaker 6: his newest singles recently, The Passenger, from his new album
Speaker 6: Lid Liquor. But he's been on the show with us
Speaker 6: a number of times the years, and today he's going
Speaker 6: to be coming in and we're going to talk to
Speaker 6: him and.
Speaker 3: He's gonna play live for us.
Speaker 6: I think the last few times he's been on the show,
Speaker 6: he's brought is you know, he's a kind of a
Speaker 6: one man band, if you want to use that term.
Speaker 6: He brings in his whole bass rig and plugs in
Speaker 6: and plays. And I think he's doing five songs for
Speaker 6: us today from the new album, So looking forward to that.
Speaker 6: And plus he's a lot of fun to talk to.
Speaker 6: And he's an incredible bass player too. I'm a bass
Speaker 6: player myself, so when Aaron is playing, I'm just kind
Speaker 6: of sitting here watching his hands the whole time. Not
Speaker 6: that I can do what he does. He is phenomenal
Speaker 6: my bass plane. You know, I don't play anymore. I
Speaker 6: used to be in a lot of bands. But I'm
Speaker 6: very not to put myself down or anything like that.
Speaker 6: But I'm always very honest with myself about what am
Speaker 6: I good at, what am I really good at? Where
Speaker 6: do I sell? What am I terrible at that I
Speaker 6: need to improve? And I would put my bass plane
Speaker 6: in the I would label my bass plane as average
Speaker 6: at best, you know. But but Aaron is just incredibly
Speaker 6: He does all the popping and slapping and just you know,
Speaker 6: really really, I just I love not only listening to
Speaker 6: him play, but I love watching him play too. Forgive
Speaker 6: me if I sniffle a little bit. My allergies are
Speaker 6: just out of control. This morning, I had a terrible
Speaker 6: allergy attack. I'm having a sneeze tastic morning here. But
Speaker 6: you know, there's a lot of pollen. It's that time
Speaker 6: of year. It's the only thing I don't like about summer.
Speaker 6: I love Summer is my favorite time of year. I
Speaker 6: actually enjoy the heat. I'm strange that way.
Speaker 3: When it's ninety degrees out, I'm fine with it. I
Speaker 3: enjoy it.
Speaker 6: But the one bad thing, of course is the pollen,
Speaker 6: which has been been terrible this year. I don't know
Speaker 6: why I got onto that, but as I said, Aaron,
Speaker 6: Billadeau will be here with us in the second hour,
Speaker 6: and then in the third hour, we have the band
Speaker 6: I just the letter I, that's their name from Los Angeles,
Speaker 6: and they are going to be with us, and they've
Speaker 6: got we're going to feature their newest single, it's called Nothing,
Speaker 6: and another song of theirs.
Speaker 3: Really good band. So we've got a lot to do today.
Speaker 6: We've got a lot on the show and it's going
Speaker 6: to be a busy one. So I'm very happy to
Speaker 6: have you with us. Let's see, I think what we
Speaker 6: should do right now. We're gonna go ahead and hit
Speaker 6: the new single from Ruben Wetton. We played this on
Speaker 6: the show for the first time a number of weeks ago.
Speaker 6: We did a world radio premiere for his single Game Over,
Speaker 6: and we're gonna get him on the line with us
Speaker 6: to be a WhatsApp. Hopefully WhatsApp doesn't give us any trouble.
Speaker 6: Last week WhatsApp functioned perfectly, I had no issues. If
Speaker 6: you are a consistent listener of the show, you might
Speaker 6: know that the previous week we had four guests, four
Speaker 6: guests booked, and all of them chose WhatsApp for their
Speaker 6: platform of choice, because we give them a choice.
Speaker 3: You know, do you want to call.
Speaker 6: The studio line, do you want to use Microsoft Teams,
Speaker 6: which I'm a big fan of. Teams works really well,
Speaker 6: or we can use WhatsApp. And last week, I'm sorry
Speaker 6: not last week, two weeks ago, all all of the
Speaker 6: guests shows WhatsApp, and WhatsApp when I tried to log
Speaker 6: into it and accused me of you know, suspicious activities,
Speaker 6: spamming people, whatever, just did not work out. So then
Speaker 6: last week WhatsApp was fine, flawless, no issues. So hopefully
Speaker 6: that that trend continues. Because both of our remote guests
Speaker 6: that we have today, both Rubin Wetten and the band I,
Speaker 6: they have both chosen WhatsApp. So I am confident that
Speaker 6: what happened a couple of weeks ago was a fluke
Speaker 6: It's just funny that, you know, the week that I
Speaker 6: happened to have a problem with WhatsApp had to be
Speaker 6: the week.
Speaker 3: Where every single guest that had on the show had
Speaker 3: chosen WhatsApp. You know, we worked around it.
Speaker 6: I was frantically emailing people, Hey can you call the
Speaker 6: studio line? Hey can I send you a teams link instead?
Speaker 6: It all worked out. But you know, it's one of
Speaker 6: the challenges of live radio or any kind of live
Speaker 6: live radio, live streaming, anything, anything that you do live.
Speaker 6: There's many many things that can go wrong, and there's
Speaker 6: even some things that can really de everything that you're doing.
Speaker 6: I am going to before we do all of that,
Speaker 6: let's see, oh here we go. Before we do all
Speaker 6: of that. One other quick thing. I received a very
Speaker 6: strange voicemail on Wednesday evening. I'm gonna give you a
Speaker 6: little teaser because we're probably gonna circle back to this
Speaker 6: later and this will all make sense in the end,
Speaker 6: I promise. But if you're someone who's who maybe only
Speaker 6: listened to part of the show some of the show,
Speaker 6: you're gonna want to listen to the whole thing today.
Speaker 6: See this is how I hook you in, because we
Speaker 6: are going to revisit this later in the show. But
Speaker 6: on Wednesday night, just after nine pm, I received a
Speaker 6: very very strange voicemail. By the way, this is not
Speaker 6: a bit, This is all one hundred percent legit. This
Speaker 6: really happened. I received this exact anonymous voicemail. But here's
Speaker 6: the hook. I do believe I've identified who this person is.
Speaker 6: But it's not somebody I know personally, not somebody I've
Speaker 6: ever met, but it is someone who, if I'm right,
Speaker 6: they have called the show before.
Speaker 3: But this, this.
Speaker 6: Recording that I'm about to play for you, is not
Speaker 6: from the show. This is from my voicemail. And by
Speaker 6: the way, I did have to edit it because to
Speaker 6: be able to air it on FM radio, I did
Speaker 6: have to do a little editing, which will be obvious
Speaker 6: when you hear it, when you hear the bleeps. But
Speaker 6: this is the voicemail that I got Wednesday night, just
Speaker 6: after nine pm.
Speaker 7: Who is Matt Connorton. You're not Matt Connorton. And it
Speaker 7: was so fake because it's AI or whatever. Who the
Speaker 7: think is Matt Connorton. Babe, what's wrong?
Speaker 5: It's not.
Speaker 7: Valid, it's incorrect, It's wrong. Matt Connorton, Matt Connorton.
Speaker 6: Now, I just tell you, so, I went to Bad
Speaker 6: Wednesday night thinking it's probably a socker and I'm about
Speaker 6: to be murdered. No, I didn't think that, but I
Speaker 6: did go to Bad Wednesday night thinking that voice is
Speaker 6: very familiar to me. I feel like I've heard that
Speaker 6: voice somewhere and I can't place it. I woke up
Speaker 6: Thursday morning, Thursday morning, my eyes pop open, and I
Speaker 6: think I know where I've heard that voice before, and
Speaker 6: it was on my show. That person is called my show,
Speaker 6: and that's where I've heard the voice. And again, we'll
Speaker 6: circle back to it later in the show. It might
Speaker 6: not be until the third hour, it might not be
Speaker 6: till the end of the show, but I will reveal
Speaker 6: to you before this show concludes today where I have
Speaker 6: heard that voice before and who I believe that individual
Speaker 6: might be. Just really quick too, we'll say hello to
Speaker 6: some people in the chatroom. Jenny is in there, of course,
Speaker 6: says good morning. Jeff Richards says, nice shirt. If you
Speaker 6: are watching the video feed at my day to a
Speaker 6: ten shirt, of course, let's see. Christopher Boston says, looking
Speaker 6: forward to hearing Aaron billideo. Yep, he'll be with us
Speaker 6: in the second hour, maybe even if we can get
Speaker 6: him in even a little bit before, because he's going
Speaker 6: to play live and we're going to talk about the
Speaker 6: new album and catch up with him. But right now,
Speaker 6: let's go admit this track. And then on the other
Speaker 6: side of this we will have our first guest, Ruben Wetton.
Speaker 6: Will have him on the line with us. Oh, Justin,
Speaker 6: Michael's also in the chatroom, says Hi, Hello, Justin. I
Speaker 6: want to make sure I acknowledge all the people who
Speaker 6: we see consistently in the chat room week after week
Speaker 6: were supporters of the show, because we do appreciate you.
Speaker 6: But here it is the first single from Ruben Wetton.
Speaker 6: This is called game Over. And then on the other
Speaker 6: side of this we will have us on the line.
Speaker 6: We will have him on the line via WhatsApp. Can't
Speaker 6: wait to talk to him. Here it is game Over
Speaker 6: by Ruben Wetton.
Speaker 8: I'm standing and by Elsey looking here.
Speaker 9: Now here standing.
Speaker 10: You say that.
Speaker 8: You always loved me and walked away and loved me
Speaker 8: go through you through the tone.
Speaker 9: And loved now got.
Speaker 5: Over one to.
Speaker 8: You, went covered of food.
Speaker 3: I had our tell you.
Speaker 9: You find I gird and.
Speaker 11: He used to Mason answer found into mountains, No adam.
Speaker 10: Plays you got now, no.
Speaker 1: Sover So I'll go.
Speaker 12: Sad win, No.
Speaker 8: And nothings from generals like the thoughts.
Speaker 12: In my herd.
Speaker 8: Yerk is me like gon fi feels like I haven't shot.
Speaker 10: You went colvered up, flood of art.
Speaker 5: Feel your.
Speaker 8: You thought I good and enough fused to make food
Speaker 8: and so found.
Speaker 12: Asks No one.
Speaker 10: Laser cards, no, no fanous so go.
Speaker 8: You covered up the murder, tried hard to fill your
Speaker 8: few tharda gooding enough used imagine that the moon and
Speaker 8: side bowness you.
Speaker 12: Mouns no.
Speaker 10: Magic, no.
Speaker 9: Thamesver So I'll go.
Speaker 3: All right. That is called game over.
Speaker 6: That is Ruben Wetton, and I think we have them
Speaker 6: on the line with us via WhatsApp.
Speaker 3: Ruben, are you.
Speaker 13: Sir?
Speaker 3: Hey, welcome to the show. My friend. Hey, So, where
Speaker 3: are you exactly? Are are you in?
Speaker 6: I was I was saying when I was talking about
Speaker 6: how you were going to be on with us, I
Speaker 6: didn't know if we'd be talking to you from uh
Speaker 6: somewhere in the United.
Speaker 3: States, or are you in Mexico? Or where are you exactly?
Speaker 9: Well, I'm based in Mexico, but I'm currently visiting the US.
Speaker 9: I'm in Arizona right now.
Speaker 6: Oh, I gotcha, Okay, all right, Well, regardless of where
Speaker 6: you are, you're in your someplace hot, that's for sure.
Speaker 6: You sound like I mean, I get the impression, or
Speaker 6: you like me. Do you like the hot weather? Because
Speaker 6: I actually like the heat, and obviously it's a drier
Speaker 6: heat in that part of the country.
Speaker 3: But how do you feel about it? Do you like
Speaker 3: the heat?
Speaker 9: It depends on the day.
Speaker 3: Yeah, I hear you. I hear you. So are you?
Speaker 4: Where are you from?
Speaker 9: Originally I'm from a small town in Mexico.
Speaker 6: Called Okay and then I'm not going to try to
Speaker 6: pronounce it, but so then you so that's where you
Speaker 6: did you grow up there and then you moved to
Speaker 6: the US or what?
Speaker 3: What's kind of your uh, what's what's kind of your background?
Speaker 9: M Well, that's where my dad's part of the side
Speaker 9: comes from. My mom is from New Mexico, Okay, And
Speaker 9: so I was born in El Paso, Texas prematurely and
Speaker 9: so so then there was some problems in Mexico going
Speaker 9: on when I was like four, So we moved down
Speaker 9: to Arizona.
Speaker 3: Yeah, and I.
Speaker 9: Lived out here for five years and then we went back.
Speaker 6: Okay, all right, so where like, where do you spend
Speaker 6: the majority of your time or New Mexico in Mexico?
Speaker 3: Okay, gotcha? Gotcha?
Speaker 6: So obviously, so you were born in Texas, but much
Speaker 6: of your childhood in Mexico.
Speaker 3: I mean, what was that?
Speaker 6: Do you prefer it sounds like, I mean, do you
Speaker 6: prefer to be in Mexico or or like how do
Speaker 6: you decide where you're living?
Speaker 5: Yeah?
Speaker 9: Yeah, I like Mexico a lot.
Speaker 3: Yeah? Yeah.
Speaker 6: What's the music scene like there in contrast with the
Speaker 6: United States? And in terms of I mean, is it
Speaker 6: a lot of the same music or is it different?
Speaker 6: Or what what's it like being there versus being here?
Speaker 3: In terms of music, there.
Speaker 9: Really isn't a music scene out there, really, Like, if
Speaker 9: there is, there's hardly anything. I have hardly any success
Speaker 9: out there.
Speaker 3: Oh really? Now why do you now why do you
Speaker 3: think that is? I mean, is there? Just is it?
Speaker 2: Uh?
Speaker 3: Because because it's interesting and it occurs to me as
Speaker 3: I'm talking to you.
Speaker 6: I don't think I've ever had a musical guest on
Speaker 6: the show who has spent a lot of time in Mexico.
Speaker 3: Or or has lived there or grown up there as
Speaker 3: you have. I mean, why do you think that is?
Speaker 6: Is there just not an emphasis on on that culturally
Speaker 6: in Mexico and and and sort of you know, fostering
Speaker 6: the arts and urging people to get into music, or
Speaker 6: is there just not not a system of venues to
Speaker 6: play or why do you think that is?
Speaker 9: Well, yeah, it's mostly in that part of the country.
Speaker 9: It's mostly agriculture.
Speaker 3: Okay.
Speaker 9: So I had to jump into running sheep out there.
Speaker 3: So, oh, what is that tell me about that?
Speaker 9: So about three months ago something like that, I started
Speaker 9: running sheep so from my backyard. It's it's basically a
Speaker 9: mini version of running a cattle ranch, really smaller animals.
Speaker 6: Oh interesting, interesting, How did you decide to get into that?
Speaker 6: I mean, is that just something? Is that a Is
Speaker 6: that a common business there that people that people start.
Speaker 9: Cattle? Yes, sheep, No, it's still something quite new there.
Speaker 9: It's more common in the southesting and and I saw
Speaker 9: it more as a as a church missionary out there.
Speaker 9: I saw a lot of sheep down in the south
Speaker 9: and it's not very common in the north. It's more
Speaker 9: of cattle ranching.
Speaker 3: Okay, So so.
Speaker 9: I was just doing numbers, and I saw that the
Speaker 9: sheep was a was a it's going to be a
Speaker 9: little successful with more than cattle. There's a lot of
Speaker 9: there's been quite a few problems with with the business
Speaker 9: currently with with cattle, so I just haded to jump
Speaker 9: in sheep instead.
Speaker 6: Okay, yeah, so you found obviously a niche that needed
Speaker 6: to be filled. So I mean, how do you feel
Speaker 6: about it at this point? I mean, does it seem
Speaker 6: like it's it's working out, like it's successful for you?
Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, it's it's going quite well.
Speaker 3: Okay, good, good?
Speaker 6: So how much time do you spend Like, obviously you
Speaker 6: know you've got that there, but you're you're in Arizona
Speaker 6: right now.
Speaker 3: Do you spend a lot of time in the United States?
Speaker 11: No?
Speaker 9: I usually visit the United States about once twice a
Speaker 9: month maybe.
Speaker 6: Okay, so you're up here pretty well, I say up here,
Speaker 6: but you're on this side of the border pretty frequently.
Speaker 6: So when you're here, what are you doing?
Speaker 14: Like?
Speaker 6: Are you playing shows here? Do you do some touring here?
Speaker 6: What do you do when you're in the United States?
Speaker 9: I mostly just visit family, but if the opportunity comes,
Speaker 9: I do play the show.
Speaker 3: Right, gotcha? Gotcha.
Speaker 6: And how did you become a musician? I was reading
Speaker 6: something about was it your grandfather who inspired you to
Speaker 6: pick up a guitar?
Speaker 9: Yes, sir, he's the long.
Speaker 3: Very good, very good. Is he still alive? He is?
Speaker 15: He is.
Speaker 9: He's eighty four years old, I think, Oh.
Speaker 3: No, kidding.
Speaker 6: So he must be proud of you, you know, watching
Speaker 6: you take this and run with it and release music
Speaker 6: and talk to people on the radio about it.
Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, he's happy about it.
Speaker 6: Yeah.
Speaker 3: No, I can imagine. I can imagine.
Speaker 6: And I was reading this too, Is this true that
Speaker 6: you stepped away from music for a couple of years
Speaker 6: to I think you had mentioned this to serve a mission.
Speaker 6: And I'm curious about that, because that's a big decision
Speaker 6: to make a commitment like that.
Speaker 9: It is, it is so before my mission, I was
Speaker 9: just releasing music on the internet, like on Spotify and
Speaker 9: stuff like that. Yeah, And it wasn't something huge going
Speaker 9: on at the time, and so it wasn't it wasn't
Speaker 9: so hard to step away because there wasn't so much
Speaker 9: what's the word. I wasn't so focused on it as
Speaker 9: I am now, right, And and during during my mission,
Speaker 9: I wrote three songs about all the hardships I went through,
Speaker 9: and when I got back, I decided to record those songs.
Speaker 9: And that is my three song project called Songs I
Speaker 9: wrote on my mission. Oh okay, it came out back
Speaker 9: in November.
Speaker 6: Gotcha okay? And then so that song came over? Is
Speaker 6: that one of those songs?
Speaker 9: No, this one's one I wrote more recently. I co
Speaker 9: wrote it with a country artist from Canada. The name
Speaker 9: is Judeah Wardrobe.
Speaker 6: Okay, And how did you How did you connect with
Speaker 6: that person?
Speaker 9: I was just on Instagram one day and I found
Speaker 9: his profile and I saw he didn't have a big
Speaker 9: following like me. Obviously it was bigger than mine. So
Speaker 9: I thought, I shoot him a message and and let's
Speaker 9: see what happened. And he decided to to hop on
Speaker 9: the song and and and we co wrote it together
Speaker 9: a video call.
Speaker 3: Oh okay. Yeah, I mean it's amazing.
Speaker 6: You know, I'm old enough to remember, you know, prem
Speaker 6: generation X so I remember like pre Internet, when that
Speaker 6: kind of thing wasn't possible. But so that's that's that's excellent.
Speaker 6: And then is it true that you've you've documented a
Speaker 6: lot of a lot of what you've gone through online
Speaker 6: on YouTube.
Speaker 9: Uh yeah, yeah, there's there's a few things up there like, uh,
Speaker 9: I think a day in the life video that I made,
Speaker 9: yeah about sixteen, Yeah, and and stuff like that.
Speaker 4: Yeah.
Speaker 6: Okay, all right, very cool, very cool. Well, in a
Speaker 6: moment where you did call us up, I'm sorry, you
Speaker 6: did send us another track called Don't Call Me Heading Home.
Speaker 6: And at the end of our conversation, in a moment,
Speaker 6: we're going to play that. That's another song of yours
Speaker 6: that will feature on the show today. But I appreciate
Speaker 6: you joining us, and you know, I wish you a
Speaker 6: success as you continue on your career. Sounds like you're
Speaker 6: off to a great start, and you know you've you've
Speaker 6: got an interesting background. What can you tell us about
Speaker 6: this song Don't Call Me Heading Home? Is this one
Speaker 6: of the one of the tracks that you from the
Speaker 6: three that you were talking about, or is this also separate?
Speaker 9: This is also separate?
Speaker 3: Okay.
Speaker 9: This one is actually one I wrote when I graduated
Speaker 9: high school, which was also a month before my mission.
Speaker 9: Before I started my mission, Oh wow, back twenty three,
Speaker 9: I had written it. So as you listen to this song,
Speaker 9: you might think that it's some sort of toxic relationship
Speaker 9: between me and a girl.
Speaker 3: That's what I say.
Speaker 9: Yeah, but that's not the case I actually wrote it.
Speaker 9: I actually wrote it about like leaving school, because school
Speaker 9: for me was one of the toughest things ever yet it.
Speaker 5: Yeah, so.
Speaker 9: I decided to use my creativity and my lyrical expression
Speaker 9: in a way that you wouldn't exactly. You wouldn't exactly
Speaker 9: find that. The reason behind it is just like it's
Speaker 9: something a little hidden.
Speaker 3: Right, gotcha?
Speaker 9: If I were to explain every single lyric behind it,
Speaker 9: I could relate it exactly the school.
Speaker 6: Okay, okay, interesting, Well that you know that ambiguity, too,
Speaker 6: is part of what makes art so interesting and what
Speaker 6: makes music interesting. So we're gonna hit that track in
Speaker 6: a moment and we'll let you go. But before we
Speaker 6: let you go, Ruben, where's the best place for people
Speaker 6: to go online to keep up with everything that you're doing?
Speaker 3: Where should people go?
Speaker 9: Mostly Instagram? Okay, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok That's where I'm at.
Speaker 9: Mostly sometimes YouTube.
Speaker 6: You should spell You should spell your name too for
Speaker 6: people who have no idea how to spell Ruben Wetton.
Speaker 9: Oh yeah, yeah, it's Kine. Confusing people always spell it wrong.
Speaker 9: I bet it's r e U B E N and
Speaker 9: then Wetten is w H E T T E N okay,
Speaker 9: and then music so at Ruben Wetten, music is where
Speaker 9: you can find me.
Speaker 6: Okay, outstanding. So we're gonna play this this track another
Speaker 6: song that you sent us. Don't call Me heading Home
Speaker 6: and Rubin. I'm sure we'll talk again in the future
Speaker 6: in uh Ruben Wetton, thank you so much for joining
Speaker 6: us today.
Speaker 3: Thank you all right, you got to take care, bye
Speaker 3: bye bye bye.
Speaker 6: All right, and here it is. This is called Don't
Speaker 6: call Me Heading Home by Ruben Wetton.
