Field Dispatch
Matt Connarton Unleashed 8-31-24 hour 2
Game Plan
World Radio Premieres from Club Paradise and Silicon Kong
Speaker 1: No Boa, no, don't don't be inside the wall. Reach
Speaker 1: gen no to me, reach out.
Speaker 2: To sign inside the reach gin no more you didn't
Speaker 2: know joself.
Speaker 3: You John John name John name sound.
Speaker 4: John now.
Speaker 5: Me now till g B.
Speaker 6: That is called reach the band has ever felt. We
Speaker 6: have an unusual, uh situation though here with our interview.
Speaker 6: I'm just gonna go ahead and uh, I'm just gonna
Speaker 6: go ahead and tell the listeners what's going on because
Speaker 6: this is weird.
Speaker 7: So he goofed and apparently he thought he was ahead
Speaker 7: of us and not behind.
Speaker 6: Us, okay, and he's not available. Okay, So here's what happened.
Speaker 6: I'm just gonna go ahead, and I mean, I don't
Speaker 6: want to embarrass anybody, but I have to explain it.
Speaker 6: I feel compelled to because this has never happened before. So,
Speaker 6: you know, we we interview sometimes we have musicians from
Speaker 6: the area who come on and uh, but sometimes we
Speaker 6: also for example, we have Dave Strong coming in in
Speaker 6: the third hour, but we also interview musicians from other
Speaker 6: parts of the country, other parts of the world even
Speaker 6: and so obviously sometimes our guests are in other time zones.
Speaker 6: So we're sitting here and Adam and Adam Seglitch from
Speaker 6: ever Felt. It's me a message saying you know, I'll
Speaker 6: be ready at ten am, and I'm like, great, because
Speaker 6: that's when he's supposed to skype in. And as the
Speaker 6: single was playing, Reach, which is their newest single, I'm reading,
Speaker 6: I said to Jenny. I look at the message via Skype.
Speaker 6: He had messaged me on Skype, and I realized the
Speaker 6: exact wording of the messages I'll be ready to skype
Speaker 6: in at ten am, eleven my time.
Speaker 1: And where is he in that?
Speaker 6: And I'm reading the message. He's in Chicago, which is
Speaker 6: a central time zone. So I'm reading the message and
Speaker 6: it suddenly occurred to me. I was like, wait a minute,
Speaker 6: ten am. Yes, that is correct, but he's an hour
Speaker 6: behind us if he's Central time, so that's not eleven
Speaker 6: his time ten am here would be nine am Central time.
Speaker 6: Eleven am his time would be noon.
Speaker 7: He's now figured out, he has said, O D yeah,
Speaker 7: so I am so sorry. Yeah, so is that a
Speaker 7: child's football game?
Speaker 6: All right, Well, well that I can do. Yeah, there
Speaker 6: you go. So here your time zones? Yes, yes, yeah,
Speaker 6: I read that message. I was like, wait a minute,
Speaker 6: and then I thought and then I tried connecting with
Speaker 6: him because I thought maybe that was a typo. But yes,
Speaker 6: so eleven am his time would be noon our time,
Speaker 6: and at noon the show is over. So anyway, honest mistake.
Speaker 6: Adam's a really nice guy, well, a big fan of
Speaker 6: the band. Will definitely reschedule them, so there's no you know,
Speaker 6: nobody's upset about anything. Just to be clear, So mistakes happen,
Speaker 6: it's all good. But but ever Felt will not be
Speaker 6: joining us today apparently. So here's what we are going
Speaker 6: to do. We're going to you know, we love to
Speaker 6: do the world radio premieres here on Matt Connorton Unleashed.
Speaker 6: So now that we are into the second hour if
Speaker 6: you missed it at the top of the show, we've
Speaker 6: got two radio premieres this week. We have what If
Speaker 6: These Days from Club Paradise, great band from the UK
Speaker 6: who joined us a number of weeks ago, and I
Speaker 6: love this song. I cannot even express this is one
Speaker 6: of those rare songs. I don't even have the words
Speaker 6: for how much I love this song. So we're gonna
Speaker 6: play that again, and immediately after that we're also gonna
Speaker 6: play the FM radio premiere because I think an Internet
Speaker 6: station has already been playing it. But it's the FM
Speaker 6: radio premiere of the new track from Silicon Kong called
Speaker 6: Cyber Jesus. So we're gonna play those and then Jenny
Speaker 6: and I will find a suitable subject for the second hour,
Speaker 6: because there's always a lot of things going on in
Speaker 6: the music industry. Oh and I can talk a little
Speaker 6: bit too about Under the Horizon, who were on the
Speaker 6: show with us last week. Very excited about that. Yes,
Speaker 6: absolutely so. We have plenty of other things to talk about,
Speaker 6: and we will get ever felt rescheduled, I'm sure. But
Speaker 6: so let's do this. We're gonna hit our world radio premieres.
Speaker 6: And hey, even if you did already hear the track
Speaker 6: at the top of the first hour, it's worth here
Speaker 6: and again. This is such a great song. I love this.
Speaker 6: This is club Paradise. The track is what if these days?
Speaker 6: Today's the American radio premiere to be precise of this track.
Speaker 6: So check this out.
Speaker 4: I guess that's it. I'm just scared of being on
Speaker 4: my own.
Speaker 8: I can't restactly as that sound when you present your
Speaker 8: sleep and by you're stocking. Someone tell me the truth
Speaker 8: is really I oughtn't know if I'm playing second best.
Speaker 1: Is it best if I go home?
Speaker 9: Why he can he be seen?
Speaker 4: If you don't even care? Dad, I'm so stuck and
Speaker 4: I don't win. There's no one there.
Speaker 10: Maybe I'm just too sad, lady know, but I give
Speaker 10: you on my time, gonna drive you home, and.
Speaker 4: You need a saint there is I can't.

Speaker 8: today because it scares me, this thing that I might
Speaker 8: have read here for nothing at all.
Speaker 4: God, it dust on my shoes, just.
Speaker 3: To prove I can do e man, using your parents,
Speaker 3: I don't need.
Speaker 10: And I sleep probably dreaming up your lips.
Speaker 11: You know your sins for sadness is a can by
Speaker 11: being in physical thing. Baby, I'm just chewing sid to
Speaker 11: let you know I want to give you a lost
Speaker 11: and mine, so I'm gonna drive you.
Speaker 3: I need to say it nowcas, I guess I give
Speaker 3: me baby, all these days, I'm.
Speaker 10: The best discamble I need ready scared of being though,
Speaker 10: maybe I can be just a little hair struggle.
Speaker 4: I've never had a lot of fans.
Speaker 10: And gave me a reason believe in these as for
Speaker 10: the best disable dropping. Maybe I understood trying to let
Speaker 10: you know want to give you.
Speaker 3: On the bite, somebody trib you.
Speaker 4: I need to say it now because I can't.
Speaker 3: I love thinking.

Speaker 9: Damn.

Speaker 12: I was a jump I didn't always look hands.

Speaker 17: H the command God don't get supper Leada, Maxill Cobby.
Speaker 6: Welcome back, everybody. This is Matt Connorton, unleashed as we
Speaker 6: are well in our number two New Marrow Dose. On
Speaker 6: this Saturday, August thirty first, twenty twenty four. We are
Speaker 6: live from the studios of w m n H ninety
Speaker 6: five point three FM in Glorious Manchester, New Hampshire. Jenny
Speaker 6: is here as well at.
Speaker 7: The news table, present and accounted for.
Speaker 6: By the way, be careful if you're headed downtown, they've
Speaker 6: got the car show going on. Yes, so we had
Speaker 6: to take block. Yeah, we had to take a very
Speaker 6: slight detour here, but of course that time of day,
Speaker 6: on a Saturday morning, it's pretty easy.
Speaker 7: But Almoll separated me from donkeys.
Speaker 6: Yes, I'm not a car guy per se as you know,
Speaker 6: but some of those are pretty cool to look at,
Speaker 6: you know, when you see them, I'm so glad you're
Speaker 6: not a car guy. Yeah, I'm not a car guy,
Speaker 6: but but if I see like a cool looking car,
Speaker 6: I'm like, oh, that's a cool looking I could look
Speaker 6: at a car and go yeah, yeah looking yeah, yeah.
Speaker 7: That's about the extent of it for me.
Speaker 6: Yes, I as well as well. Coming up in the
Speaker 6: third hour today we have musician Dave Strong is going
Speaker 6: to be joining us and we're gonna play We're gonna
Speaker 6: play some of some of his tunes. Of course. In
Speaker 6: the first hour we were by a filmmaker, Charles Maddox.
Speaker 7: If you miss that my personal heroes.
Speaker 6: Yes, yes, absolutely. We also have been featuring today the
Speaker 6: radio premieres of a couple of brand new tracks what
Speaker 6: If These Days by Club Paradise, our friends from the
Speaker 6: UK who had on the show recently. I love that song,
Speaker 6: so we are very honored to be the first American
Speaker 6: radio station to play that track. And also Cyber Jesus
Speaker 6: from Silicon Kong, Ian Hemy, that one Ian Hemy who
Speaker 6: invented is the creator of Silicon Kong, was here with
Speaker 6: us on the show last week, and that is the
Speaker 6: FM radio premiere. I do think there might be an
Speaker 6: Internet station that's already playing it, but that was the
Speaker 6: FM radio premiere here in the United States of that track.
Speaker 6: So I'm really looking forward to seeing that rockumentary or
Speaker 6: mockumentary when it comes out about Silicon Kong. So lots
Speaker 6: of good stuff. We should remind people too, your art
Speaker 6: is still for well, not much longer, much longer, a.
Speaker 4: Couple more days.
Speaker 7: There are twelve twelve of my darkest pieces hanging at
Speaker 7: at the Midnight Creatives Collective in Nashua. Also the location
Speaker 7: of Terminus, Yes, where we recently got to go seeing
Speaker 7: Green Jello, which is insanely cool. It's an awesome space
Speaker 7: to go see people. If you haven't gotten to go
Speaker 7: there yet, I encourage you to. Yes, if you want
Speaker 7: to go in the next couple of days and check
Speaker 7: out some of my dark paintings, go ahead, yeah, And
Speaker 7: you can find more about me and my paintings at
Speaker 7: Gencoffee dot com, j E N N C O F
Speaker 7: F E y dot com. And while I have your attention, yes,
Speaker 7: I want to remind folks that right now there is
Speaker 7: a critical blood shortage. The American Red Cross has been
Speaker 7: putting out the call across the nation asking people to
Speaker 7: come in and help save lives. There is a very
Speaker 7: critical blood shortage going on right now. And also the
Speaker 7: American Red Cross has a program where they will come
Speaker 7: out and install a free smoke detector in your house
Speaker 7: and also do a safety check and let you know
Speaker 7: if you have any risks that you might want to
Speaker 7: take care of. You know, so if there is a
Speaker 7: fire year, get out of your house safely. If you're
Speaker 7: interested in getting a free smoke alarm installed and having
Speaker 7: a home safety check, visit the Redcross dot org in
Speaker 7: home smoke alarms or call one eight hundred four six
Speaker 7: four sixty six nine two one eight hundred four six
Speaker 7: four sixty six nine to two for the Red Cross.
Speaker 6: Very good, very good. I do want to mention too.
Speaker 6: In the Facebook live chat, our friend Bruce from Legion
Speaker 6: of Solace. Of course a great, great place, I think,
Speaker 6: I said. I don't know why I keep thinking he's
Speaker 6: from Connecticut. He's actually from Massachusetts, I believe, but he's
Speaker 6: in the chat room. They do a lot for the
Speaker 6: music scene. When I was playing that Chasing the Devil
Speaker 6: track earlier, we played the newest single from them, Drowning
Speaker 6: our friend j Bellow in the chat room, and hopefully
Speaker 6: we'll get them on the show soon. They've got a
Speaker 6: big tour there going on. But while that track was playing,
Speaker 6: I missed the comment, so I wanted to go back
Speaker 6: to it, Bruce said. The vocalist who is Jay, reminds
Speaker 6: me of Howard Jones of Light the Torch and kill
Speaker 6: Switch Engage. Yeah, I can definitely hear that. I can
Speaker 6: hear that as well. Yeah, great band, Chasing the Devil.
Speaker 6: You should check them out. Tattoo Baby is in the
Speaker 6: Facebook live chat and says, hey, guys, she is the
Speaker 6: cover model, by the way, for Grim Rock's album Grimrock.
Speaker 6: Our friend from one of our actually one of our
Speaker 6: many friends now from Pennsylvania who've been on the show.
Speaker 6: So last week, of course when we had Ian Hemy
Speaker 6: Silicon Kong also from pa a Yinser apparently that's what
Speaker 6: they call them in Pittsburgh. And I just want to
Speaker 6: make sure we didn't miss anybody here bouncing between chat rooms.
Speaker 6: Actually got multiple Oh. Andre Dumont of course from the
Speaker 6: band Deed Harrison and also the Midnight Creatives Collective. I
Speaker 6: get to see Andre of course on Tuesday night at
Speaker 6: the Green Jelly Show or Green Jello, whichever you want
Speaker 6: to call them, at Terminus in Nashua. Andre says, good morning,
Speaker 6: the Saturday Morning Ritual begins, best radio show for your
Speaker 6: weekend to begin. Thank you, Andre, appreciate that, Appreciate that
Speaker 6: very much. Something that's been going on in the music
Speaker 6: industry news, Actually, this is what we do when when
Speaker 6: something goes awry with a guest. Is what happened today
Speaker 6: with our our our number two guest. There's been a
Speaker 6: lot of the biggest kind of news I think over
Speaker 6: the past week in music in the world of music
Speaker 6: is Oasis.
Speaker 9: Uh.
Speaker 6: They are reuniting the band Uh. The Gallagher brothers, Liam
Speaker 6: and Noel Gallagher. Uh, you know, bands fighting or I'm
Speaker 6: sorry I should say brothers fighting within bands not an
Speaker 6: unusual thing. History tells us. You know, you've got the Kinks.
Speaker 6: You know you've got Ray Davies and Dave Davies and
Speaker 6: their epic arguments and so forth. But apparently the Gallagher
Speaker 6: brothers putting their differences aside for a big reunion tour.
Speaker 5: We have a call.
Speaker 6: Let's grab this call. So he oh, no, nobody there. Okay,
Speaker 6: someone was just calling us. Yeah, the Gallagher brothers, they're
Speaker 6: putting their differences aside for the tour. But it was
Speaker 6: interesting to see some of the reactions on social media
Speaker 6: because people are cynical very often, and a lot of
Speaker 6: people are suggesting that, well, this isn't going to last. Uh,
Speaker 6: this isn't going to be real. The tour will end
Speaker 6: up getting canceled, you know, after five dates, because the
Speaker 6: Gallaghers are particularly famous for not getting along and like
Speaker 6: I said, brothers arguing within bands. You've got Ray Davies
Speaker 6: and Ryan Dave Davies from the Kinks. You've got bands
Speaker 6: where you have not necessarily brothers, but people who are
Speaker 6: like brothers like you know, Tyler and Perry of Aerosmith,
Speaker 6: so forth. But there are a lot of example of
Speaker 6: actual blood brothers and bands not getting along. So there's
Speaker 6: already a lot of cynicism, a lot of skepticism about,
Speaker 6: you know, whether this Oasis tour is really gonna is
Speaker 6: really going to happen. But there's also an issue with
Speaker 6: getting tickets, and the AP is reporting error messages and
Speaker 6: lengthy online cues greet fans scrambling to secure Oasis reunion tickets.
Speaker 6: It says here Oasis fans seeking tickets to the band's
Speaker 6: reunion tour endured hours long waits and in some cases
Speaker 6: disappointment as online platforms strained under demand Saturday from hundreds
Speaker 6: of thousands of fans. The britpop era behemoth, led by
Speaker 6: brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher, is scheduled to play seventeen
Speaker 6: gigs and that's it. That's a short actually a short tour.
Speaker 7: It's first of limited chances to see them.
Speaker 6: Yeah yeah, these are their first shows in fifteen years,
Speaker 6: kicking off in Cardiff, Manchester, London, Edinburgh and Dublin starting
Speaker 6: July four. No, that is not Manchester, New Hampshire, of course, Manchester, England.
Speaker 6: More than one million tickets went on sale on Saturday morning,
Speaker 6: with prices starting at about seventy four pounds, which would
Speaker 6: be just under one hundred dollars American. Some people attempting
Speaker 6: to get into the handful of authorized sales sites, including
Speaker 6: Ticketmaster and Gigs and Tours received error messages, while many
Speaker 6: others were informed they were in a lengthy queue. Josh Jeffrey,
Speaker 6: a videographer who lives near Edinburgh, spent hours moving up
Speaker 6: the online ticket queue before the whole site collapsed at
Speaker 6: the last step. He said, I've given up. My friends
Speaker 6: have given up. We just decided it's too much hassle.
Speaker 6: As I was in the queue, I heard wonderwall blasting
Speaker 6: out from my neighbor's house. He'd obviously gotten tickets.
Speaker 7: Yes, wow, yeah, And they were saying that within hours
Speaker 7: of the tickets going on sale, they were turning up
Speaker 7: on resale websites for as much as seventy eight hundred dollars. Yeah,
Speaker 7: seventy eight hundred dollars per ticket.
Speaker 16: No, thank you, Well, that's it.
Speaker 7: I don't like nobody that much.
Speaker 6: The way, so that apparently is trying to look it
Speaker 6: up quickly. That specifically is being addressed apparently by Oasis.
Speaker 6: They don't want they don't want these resale sites selling
Speaker 6: the tickets.
Speaker 7: Yeah, they're warning people not to buy them right.
Speaker 6: Right, Which is interesting because so the way the secondhand
Speaker 6: ticket market works is so some of these resale sites,
Speaker 6: obviously they're basically scalpers online. You know, they buy up
Speaker 6: all these tickets and then they resell them on their
Speaker 6: own sites. But some of them, this is what's a
Speaker 6: little little dirty about it to some people. Depends on
Speaker 6: we could actually do a whole segment on this one
Speaker 6: of these days. Sometimes the resale site isn't necessarily a
Speaker 6: scalper site. Sometimes it's a resale site that is in
Speaker 6: some way affiliated with the main site. So for example, Ticketmaster,
Speaker 6: I forget what they're like, there's a there's another site
Speaker 6: that's like a reseller, but but they actually just get
Speaker 6: like they're actually owned by ticket Master. It's it's all
Speaker 6: very weird and it's a little dirty, this this business
Speaker 6: whole thing is.
Speaker 7: And the thing I don't understand that they do, though,
Speaker 7: is that the the AP talks about how the the
Speaker 7: bands are warning people not to buy them, that they're
Speaker 7: saying that these tickets are either counterfeit or they're getting
Speaker 7: canceled by the promoter. So if these tickets show up
Speaker 7: on secondary sites, they're actually getting canceled, right, and you've
Speaker 7: got a nothing ticket?
Speaker 1: Which how do they get away with doing that?
Speaker 6: Which I don't understand, which I've never seen that before,
Speaker 6: where these tickets are are actually getting canceled, I.
Speaker 7: Don't understand how that works.
Speaker 6: It's yeah, it's it's a tangled, tangled web this business.
Speaker 6: Remember years and years ago when Pearl Jam tried to
Speaker 6: take on Ticketmaster and how that the end they ended
Speaker 6: up giving up.
Speaker 7: A boocket Master's quite the giants.
Speaker 6: But yeah, so Variety has this story up. Oasis warns
Speaker 6: against reselling as fans report technical issues getting tickets for
Speaker 6: the reunion tour. Yeah, because you know, you try to
Speaker 6: get the tickets, you end up in it's like when
Speaker 6: you're trying to buy them. It's like when you're trying
Speaker 6: to call some customer service line and you're put into
Speaker 6: a queue, and you know, and your waighttime is three
Speaker 6: hours and fifty eight minutes, you know estimated waytime, and
Speaker 6: then you know an hour later, your estimated waytime is
Speaker 6: now three hours and fifty one minutes and you don't
Speaker 6: know if you're ever going to get through, and then
Speaker 6: eventually you just get hung up on it. It's like that.
Speaker 6: But but so then so they try to buy these tickets,
Speaker 6: so then they go to one of the secondary sites.
Speaker 6: So here's what Variety is reporting. Oasis fans aren't finding
Speaker 6: much glory this morning while trying to buy tickets for
Speaker 6: the band's highly anticipated reunion tour, with many reporting technical issues.
Speaker 6: I'm gonna skip down, okay, so it says here it's
Speaker 6: part of this we covered already. So in a statement
Speaker 6: of Variety, Ticketmaster set its site had not crashed and
Speaker 6: the queue is moving along. Well, I suppose if you're
Speaker 6: sitting there, by the way, if you're sitting there at
Speaker 6: your computer on the site, you know it maybe it
Speaker 6: crashes or maybe your browser is having an issue. You
Speaker 6: can't be sure, but most likely it crashed, and I
Speaker 6: think the ticketmaster is probably just not being honest. But okay,
Speaker 6: so I know it's shocking. So a spokesperson said, quote
Speaker 6: as anticipated, millions of fans are accessing our site so
Speaker 6: have been placed in a queue. Fans are advised to
Speaker 6: hold their place in line, make sure they're only using
Speaker 6: one tab clear cookies, and I'm sure they aren't using
Speaker 6: any VPN software on their device. Unquote.
Speaker 7: You can your everything before you try to buy tickets.
Speaker 6: As fans scrambled for tickets, Oasis repeatedly warned against scams
Speaker 6: and ticket reselling. In a message posted to x later
Speaker 6: on Saturday morning, the band wrote, quote and by the way,
Speaker 6: the band, you know, it's not like one of the
Speaker 6: gallaghers is actually writing this. Obviously it's management, but this
Speaker 6: is what was written. Quote. Please note Oasis Live twenty
Speaker 6: five tickets can only be resold at face value via
Speaker 6: at Ticketmaster UK and at twickets. Tickets appearing on other
Speaker 6: secondary ticketing sites are either counterfeit or will be canceled
Speaker 6: by the promoters unquote. Soon after the presale for the
Speaker 6: tour started on Friday night, tickets began appearing on reselling
Speaker 6: websites such as stub hub and via go Go for
Speaker 6: as much as six thousand whatever that is pounds. I
Speaker 6: guess a face value for a standing ticket to the
Speaker 6: tour is one hundred and fifty pounds, and seated tickets
Speaker 6: up to two hundred five pounds. By the way stub Hub,
Speaker 6: I think stub Hub is the site, the secondary quote
Speaker 6: unquote secondary site that is actually owned by ticket masters.
Speaker 6: Oh no, kidden, I believe it's stub Hub. The other
Speaker 6: two websites, gigs and Tour and see Tickets, were reported
Speaker 6: to be holding fans in a temporary queue before directing
Speaker 6: them to the purchase page. But uh yeah, so so
Speaker 6: the band's management is warning, you know, don't go to
Speaker 6: these secondary sites. I'm gonna look this up really quickly.
Speaker 6: I want to know if I'm right about that.
Speaker 7: If I was actually just trying to look that up too,
Speaker 7: but I didn't quite get this stub Hub computer. My
Speaker 7: computer slowed down.
Speaker 6: Well that I suggest. If that's the case, I must
Speaker 6: clear my cookies. Take ticketmaster's advice. Uh clear, Yes, clear
Speaker 6: your cookies and your cash and uh no VPNs.
Speaker 7: I don't even know if I have that.
Speaker 6: Okay, I was wrong. StubHub is not owned by ticket Master.
Speaker 6: StubHub is privately owned. Maybe it's seat geek there. There
Speaker 6: is a secondary company, a secondary market company that is
Speaker 6: owned by a Ticketmaster. But uh yeah, so that's what's
Speaker 6: going on there. I think that, Uh, I do think
Speaker 6: the tour will happen again. Like I said, there's a
Speaker 6: lot of cynicism online, you know, there was I remember
Speaker 6: back when Oasis first got really big. There's there's actually
Speaker 6: an EP, you know, a bootleg that someone put out
Speaker 6: or a CD of one of their I think it's
Speaker 6: called Sibling Rivalry, and it's they were in the studio
Speaker 6: and someone left the tape rolling on an argument that
Speaker 6: Nolan William Gallagher were having in studio where they're yelling
Speaker 6: at each other, and it's I'm sure it's on YouTube.
Speaker 6: It's kind of interesting. I pull it up and play it,
Speaker 6: but there's definitely profanity in it. So but uh yeah,
Speaker 6: so that's uh, that's what's going on with Oasis there.
Speaker 6: So I don't know if there are they planning to
Speaker 6: come to the United States. They must be.
Speaker 7: Ticket Master also owns Live Nation.
Speaker 6: Yes, they are one and the same and have been
Speaker 6: for a long time, to the chagrin of some people
Speaker 6: who believe that that is a monopoly and that that
Speaker 6: merger should not have been approved by the government. But
Speaker 6: we won't get into all of that.
Speaker 7: They also acquired front Gate Tickets. Uh that's another company. Yeah,
Speaker 7: they apparently acquired.
Speaker 6: Yeah, they gobble up a lot of these smaller ticket companies.
Speaker 7: But there's another one called the Universe that they got
Speaker 7: that's a DIY ticketing platform.
Speaker 9: Really.
Speaker 7: Oh yeah, I'm just getting kick at all the stuff
Speaker 7: they own here.
Speaker 6: Yeah, they try to good tickets, front Gate tickets, Yeah,
Speaker 6: they got that one too. But there's a major one
Speaker 6: that everyone's heard of, and I can't remember who it.
Speaker 7: Is upgraded Birt's physical tickets into digital ones.
Speaker 6: Maybe I'm wrong, Maybe there isn't. Maybe there isn't. I
Speaker 6: thought it was a big one that people have heard of,
Speaker 6: like stub Hub that everyone's just kind of aware of,
Speaker 6: but they try to but they try to conceal that
Speaker 6: they're actually owned by a ticketmaster. Maybe I'm wrong. Well,
Speaker 6: we'll move on because we have another speaking of people
Speaker 6: not getting along well in music, No, but see this
Speaker 6: is positive because this is an example of people being
Speaker 6: able to put their differences aside for the music. Because
Speaker 6: as the Gallagher brothers obviously have had to put their
Speaker 6: differences aside to reunite Oasis and do this tour, the
Speaker 6: members of Journey, our friends Jonathan Kane and Neil Sean
Speaker 6: have also put their difference Well, actually, I don't think
Speaker 6: they've put their differences aside necessarily, but there has been
Speaker 6: a datunt because if you've been paying any attention to this,
Speaker 6: you know that they're in the middle of this stadium tour.
Speaker 6: Journey is they're out on the road with Death Leopard,
Speaker 6: so doing a stadium tour, it's big business. And you've
Speaker 6: got band members suing each other while they're on tour
Speaker 6: and over some disagreements of how money is spent by
Speaker 6: the company that they are directors of. They each own
Speaker 6: fifty percent or have fifty percent control I should say
Speaker 6: not necessarily ownership, but Jonathan Kane and Neil Sean each
Speaker 6: having fifty percent control over this company, and they each
Speaker 6: like to spend a lot of money and then they
Speaker 6: get mad at the other and it's a whole thing.
Speaker 6: We talked about this a couple of weeks ago on
Speaker 6: the show. This is being reported by I like to
Speaker 6: give the site credit Digitalmusicnews dot com, which is a
Speaker 6: great site. Don't stop believing in a Journey World tour.
Speaker 6: The band is back on the road as members settle
Speaker 6: their legal differences. Really and here's how they did it.
Speaker 6: And this is one of the oddcons Now that's impressive.
Speaker 6: It's all good, it's all good. It says, don't stop
Speaker 6: believing is in the possibility of a unified journey, which
Speaker 6: has seemingly seen members Jonathan Kane and Neil Sean put
Speaker 6: their latest dispute to rest. There will be others, I'm
Speaker 6: sure in the future, as history tells us, but that
Speaker 6: we reported closer to August. So the beginning of August
Speaker 6: so going on about a month centered on touring related
Speaker 6: disagreements between Cain and Sean, with each possessing a fifty
Speaker 6: percent interest in the companies responsible for handling journeys dealings,
Speaker 6: the veteran musicians have for years clashed over expenses and
Speaker 6: a whole lot else. As it pertains to one of
Speaker 6: the company's Freedom twenty twenty, the two couldn't agree on
Speaker 6: matters including tour accommodation expenditures, security costs, the employment status
Speaker 6: of various personnel and more. Alleged unilateral spending on the
Speaker 6: part of Sean was a particularly significant issue. Caine described, Yeah,
Speaker 6: when we talked about this before, we talked about you know, spending,
Speaker 6: you know, ten thousand dollars.
Speaker 7: Station of a ten thousand dollars hotel room. Yep, yep,
Speaker 7: I bet that really exists too.
Speaker 6: Yeah, No, I believe it and maxed out company credit cards.
Speaker 6: And the thing about personnel differences, you know, apparently on
Speaker 6: the current tour, you know, one of the members Sean
Speaker 6: or Kane, might fire somebody and then the other member
Speaker 6: is upset and hires that person back. Just a lot
Speaker 6: of dysfunction. I read too. There was even some disagreement
Speaker 6: between them about whether or not Jonathan Kane should be
Speaker 6: playing guitar on the song Wheel in the Sky. Why not, Well,
Speaker 6: he's technically he's the keyboard player, but he does play guitar.
Speaker 6: He does, so what don't play guitar?
Speaker 7: Well, he plays on somebody else's he plays.
Speaker 6: He plays rhythm guitar on Stone and Love. There's I
Speaker 6: think there's a couple Stone and Love. But but he
Speaker 6: has to write that song would sound really strange with
Speaker 6: one guitar, So he plays rhythm guitar on that. Neil
Speaker 6: Sean of course the lead player on that and I Live.
Speaker 6: I think he's always also played on Wheel in the Sky.
Speaker 6: But I guess there was a disagreement, like Shawn didn't
Speaker 6: want him to play guitar on Wheel in the Sky
Speaker 6: or something really weird. So according to this, so it
Speaker 6: says the hang ups which brought about the cancelation of
Speaker 6: the UK leg of the band's ongoing tour, came to
Speaker 6: light in late July, and a late July filing submitted
Speaker 6: by Kin to the Delaware Chancery Court. In the action,
Speaker 6: the seventy four year old asked the court to appoint
Speaker 6: a third party director to Freedom twenty twenty so as
Speaker 6: to remedy the deadlock between him and Sean, who held
Speaker 6: all voting rights over so many of the famed rock
Speaker 6: group's business moves. Given the fifty to fifty voting rights structure,
Speaker 6: it was proving excuse me, excuse me, exceedingly difficult to
Speaker 6: agree on operational details and to appoint another director, Caine
Speaker 6: explained in more words. Furthermore, the announcement arrived after Shan
Speaker 6: last week acknowledged that he and Kan quote don't always
Speaker 6: see eye to eye on everythings or sometimes on pretty
Speaker 6: much anything unquote, But the seventy year old also expressed
Speaker 6: a desire to bring on the third party director and
Speaker 6: move past the friction on the tour as the tour
Speaker 6: could proceed, So the tour could proceed running. With that point,
Speaker 6: the fresh statement from Kane's legal team reads quote, mister
Speaker 6: Seawan is prohibited from unilaterally acting on behalf of the company.
Speaker 6: In all future deadlock between mister Kane and mister Sean
Speaker 6: will be broken by the vote of the custodian, so
Speaker 6: just a third party to be a tiebreaker. Effectively, as
Speaker 6: scheduled this tour, we'll see Journey perform in San Diego tonight,
Speaker 6: play four more state side shows through September eighth, head
Speaker 6: to Brazil and Chile later that same month, and then
Speaker 6: entertain fans in Japan while in New October. At present,
Speaker 6: the group doesn't appear to have rescheduled the previously noted
Speaker 6: UK dates, which had originally been teed up to begin
Speaker 6: in October as well. Well, yeah, and that's going to
Speaker 6: be hard for them to just reschedule those. I mean,
Speaker 6: they're on, you know, because it's not just them, they're
Speaker 6: on this stadium tour with def Leopard. So well, we'll
Speaker 6: see how long this lasts and how long that the
Speaker 6: dayton remains. And one other thing we can get into
Speaker 6: before we hit the top of the hour, because we
Speaker 6: do talk on the show a lot about AI and
Speaker 6: concerns people have about AI.
Speaker 16: Yeah, this is.
Speaker 6: Trying to click this link here. This is something that
Speaker 6: you brought to my attention. Yeah, this is from BuzzFeed.
Speaker 6: Don't be swindled. Here's why Tom Hanks issued a public
Speaker 6: service announcement about some AI ads. It says Tom Hanks. Yeah, yeah,
Speaker 6: he says. Tom Hanks has issued a strong statement against
Speaker 6: medical ads made with AI that fraudulently uses his name, likeness,
Speaker 6: and voice. In an Instagram post on Thursday, the actor
Speaker 6: made what he called the public service announcement and captioned
Speaker 6: the statement extra extra read all about it. There are
Speaker 6: multiple ads over the internet falsely using my name, likeness,
Speaker 6: and voice promoting Miracle cure and Wonder drugs, he wrote.
Speaker 6: While Hanks didn't specify which specific medical ads he was opposing,
Speaker 6: he clarified quote, these ads have been created without my consent,
Speaker 6: fraudulently and through AI. I have nothing to do with
Speaker 6: these posts, or the products and treatments, or the spokespeople
Speaker 6: touting these cures unquote. Hanks revealed in twenty thirteen that
Speaker 6: he has type two diabetes and noted in his Instagram
Speaker 6: posts that he only works with Board certified doctors regarding
Speaker 6: his treatment. He handed his statement with three directives, Don't
Speaker 6: be fooled, don't be swindled, and don't lose your hard
Speaker 6: earned money.
Speaker 7: And this is again what we've been talking about a
Speaker 7: lot recently, is about people controlling their own images and likenesses. Yeah,
Speaker 7: you know, and as AI becomes more and more prevalent,
Speaker 7: is going to be more and more of these type
Speaker 7: of situations. You really got to be careful. Yeah, I mean,
Speaker 7: it looks like them, it sounds like them, but it's
Speaker 7: not them, right, and that's scary. Yeah, but you know what,
Speaker 7: you really shouldn't be taking medical advice from any ad.
Speaker 7: I In my perfect world, medical ads don't exist because
Speaker 7: they are not helpful. They try to They convince people
Speaker 7: they need stuff they don't need, or they need things
Speaker 7: that cost more money than they don't really need. Like,
Speaker 7: there's no good reason for this. Your doctor can tell
Speaker 7: you what you need. You don't need an ad on
Speaker 7: TV trying to force feed you. You must take this pill.
Speaker 7: Your life will be better if you just take this pill, right,
Speaker 7: you know, at the magic pill. The snake oil salesman
Speaker 7: has always existed and will always exist in our society.
Speaker 7: Is just now they're coming in the form of AI,
Speaker 7: which makes it even scarier because you can't tell the difference.
Speaker 6: Yeah, although when it comes to voices, it seems to
Speaker 6: me that, I mean, you could do that anyway, you like,
Speaker 6: you don't need AI to replicate someone's voice. You just
Speaker 6: need someone who can do a good impression.
Speaker 7: Right, But this isn't that. This is them replicating his likeness,
Speaker 7: his image.
Speaker 16: Right right?
Speaker 6: Well, yeah, his image.
Speaker 16: It looks like he's.
Speaker 7: Saying these things and he's endorsing them and saying, look,
Speaker 7: Tom Hanks says, this pills great for you, so I'll
Speaker 7: take it too, because you know, he's a great guy.
Speaker 7: He's so wholesome and nice, and we love Tom Hanks,
Speaker 7: so we must trust Tom Hanks. And so if you
Speaker 7: don't want to feel that way, then listen to heat
Speaker 7: his words, because he's telling you it's not him. He
Speaker 7: didn't give him permission. And these companies shouldn't be able
Speaker 7: to do that, but they're getting away with it because
Speaker 7: we don't have strong enough laws to control AI, to
Speaker 7: protect artists and entertainers, so they can control their images
Speaker 7: and how they're seen and what's coming out of their mouths,
Speaker 7: because they can make you say anything, right.
Speaker 6: Yeah, I felt from the beginning when I the first
Speaker 6: time I ever saw Tom Hanks in that TV show
Speaker 6: Bus and Buddies, I thought, I trust this man, Peter
Speaker 6: Sculleri not so much.
Speaker 7: Terrible.
Speaker 6: Remember that show was some Buddies I do.
Speaker 7: I loved that show. I love But you know, when
Speaker 7: I think of Tom Hanks, I always think about Bubba
Speaker 7: Gum Shrimp.
Speaker 12: Now.
Speaker 7: Oh yes, I got to go to a Bubba Gum
Speaker 7: Shrimp restaurant in Minnesota, and they had like a like that.
Speaker 7: They had his suit, white suit with the suitcase, and
Speaker 7: they had all kinds and of course they were running
Speaker 7: the movie, but they had all kinds of memorabilia and
Speaker 7: stuff there. And I of course got the Jenny, which
Speaker 7: was shrimp and salmon. Yes, but no, I mean yeah,
Speaker 7: I mean he's he's a great People look at Tom
Speaker 7: Hanks and they see a trusted person. So when you
Speaker 7: think you seeing him telling you this is a great pill,
Speaker 7: I take it you should too. It's easy to fall
Speaker 7: prey to that.
Speaker 6: Oh of course, yeah absolutely.
Speaker 7: But as technology continues to grow, we need to grow
Speaker 7: laws to protect artists.
Speaker 6: What would be the worst is if you start seeing
Speaker 6: this kind of thing with somebody like Morgan Freeman, because
Speaker 6: isn't he I mean, would you say, Morgan Freeman one
Speaker 6: of the most trusted voices.
Speaker 7: To a point, you know, but if he doesn't say
Speaker 7: certain words, I don't know that anybody believed there was
Speaker 7: him and you can't say those words.
Speaker 6: So Morgan Freeman.
Speaker 7: Oh wait, wrong, guy, I mixed.
Speaker 6: You're thinking of Samuel L. Jackson.
Speaker 7: I was, Yes, yes, I had him in my head
Speaker 7: for some reason.
Speaker 6: He's not always a potty mouth. I see him in
Speaker 6: commercials where he keeps it clean. But no Morgan Freeman.
Speaker 6: Though everyone trusts Morgan Freeman, how can you not? As
Speaker 6: we approach the top of the hour, so we have
Speaker 6: Dave Strong joining us in the third hour, correct, yes,
Speaker 6: and so looking forward to that. But before we have
Speaker 6: a little bit of time left, I want to play
Speaker 6: a song from our new friends in the band Under
Speaker 6: the Horizon, because we went to see Under the Horizon
Speaker 6: last Sunday at the Tupelo. Yes, they were opening for
Speaker 6: Great White.
Speaker 5: Uh.
Speaker 6: They also played a second show at the Tupolo last night.
Speaker 6: They were opening for Queen's Reich. Of course sold out show. Yeah,
Speaker 6: great pictures online. So uh, looking forward to helping them
Speaker 6: with their their radio. Endeavor's got a lot going on
Speaker 6: but I've had this particular track stuck in my head.
Speaker 6: Oh and by the way, I should mention too Tony Petrello,
Speaker 6: who of course joins us Friday nights on Retrospection Radio
Speaker 6: with poly C. When he came in last night, he
Speaker 6: was telling me how much he He couldn't remember which
Speaker 6: song it was, but one of the songs from Uh
Speaker 6: under the Horizon he really really loved. But I'm gonna
Speaker 6: play the one that I woke up with stuck. You know,
Speaker 6: when I wake up in the morning and I always
Speaker 6: have a song stuck in my head some more than others.
Speaker 7: Stuck in your head?
Speaker 6: Well, uh Unicycle by uh Jerry and the Sky that
Speaker 6: gets stuck, that get stuck in my head a lot.
Speaker 6: That's why I played a lot uh not uh not
Speaker 6: coming back by day to attend that one gets stuck
Speaker 6: in my head a lot. There was a Club Paradise single,
Speaker 6: not the new one, but the previous one that got
Speaker 6: stuck in my head a lot. But today I woke
Speaker 6: up with within my eyes from Under the Horizon stuck
Speaker 6: in my head. So we're gonna play that, and then
Speaker 6: we'll show some love to our amazing sponsors, and then
Speaker 6: we've got Dave Strong joining us in the third hour today.
Speaker 6: So there is plenty more Matt Connorton unleash to come,
Speaker 6: So don't go away here it is within my eyes,
Speaker 6: This is under the horizon.
Speaker 9: King this one there are very.
Speaker 4: Own to put you off racing the ground.
Speaker 16: What can I be?
Speaker 18: All spiritual eyes all round? I just want to be
Speaker 18: a bunch of boots with body in the crowd, go
Speaker 18: within my eyes.
Speaker 16: Go with in my eyes, with my eyes.
Speaker 3: To be expending the sub change a photo too.
Speaker 19: What you befo?
Speaker 4: I can't bring in alone?
Speaker 18: But I can't are going on around dancy of my
Speaker 18: but you my racing crowd, can I me o spead your.
Speaker 5: Now?
Speaker 4: I just want to breathe. No, but your boots arg
Speaker 4: crowd within my eyes with anybody that I can't breathe.
Speaker 16: But I can't stop going around.
Speaker 5: I can s what your.
