You are listening to w M and H thirty five point three, Get command,
don't get so greenly down Matzille giving Welcome everybody, Here we go.
It is that time again, Matt Connerton unleashed and we are live from the
studios of w M n H ninety five point three FM and Glorious Downtown Manchester,
New Hampshire, and it is a glorious day outside, very very nice.
Also on Comcast channel six if you're in Manchester. And Hello to all
of our online listeners across nation and around the globe. You can go to
my website Matt Connerton dot com for all of your live streaming options, social
media links, contact in Folk Show archives, etcetera, etcetera. Today is
Wednesday, September twenty seven, two twenty three, so nice to have you
all with me. We've got a great musical guest coming up today. In
the second hour, we will be joined live in studio by the Boston band
Hands of Spite and really looking forward to meeting these guys. I love their
sound. They've got a couple of studio tracks that they want to feature,
but they're also going to play live for us today in the second hour,
so they will be here an hour number two New Meredos. Really looking forward
to that. Speaking of musical guests, by the way, yesterday we had
on the show Fox and the Flamingos and they came in and played during the
second hour and just amazing. In fact, Mike Doyle, who usually he
only calls the show if he's got something political to talk about, but he
actually called the show yesterday during the interview just to just to talk about how
much he loved the band, and he even sent me an email. He
probably sent it right after the show, but I didn't see it until this
morning. I was I was not feeling well last night. We'll talk about
that in a minute. But but this morning I woke up and I saw
I had an email from Mike and he just said in the subject line he
just put Fox in the Flamingos, and in the email himself it's he just
said in all caps, wow, with a whole bunch of exclamation points.
So he was really impressed. And I wrote back to him and I just
said, I know right, they were amazing. So that opening track that
I played today, that's their their new single, Don't Be a Stranger.
I don't know if it's even available yet for streaming. I think I know
that it hadn't been as of yesterday when the band was here. That was
kind of the world premiere of that song on the show. But I did
tell them afterward. I said, yeah, that's that's gonna be one of
those tracks that I'm just gonna play every now and then just because it's so
good. That's such a great track. And also I posted on social media
last night, I said, uh uh, no disrespect to Fleetwood Mac,
but Fox and the Flamingos just played the best rendition of Rhiannon that I've ever
heard in my life. It was so good, so good. Also,
I want to get I think I had said it on air, but I
wanted I talked to her a little bit off air too, Mazie's father,
Mazie from Fox and the Flamingos, her dad, apparently you heard this come
up yesterday if you're if you heard the show. Wasn't a boy band back
in the day and managed run whatever by Lou Pearlman. And I said to
Mazie, I says, oh my god, I have to I have to
interview your dad. I have to have him on the show. I would
just be fascinated to talk to him because and it was the boy band was
a group that I was not familiar with, so clearly not on the level
of say the Backstreet Boys or n Syncor ninety eight degrees or some of the
other boy bands from that era in terms of success. But but I I
remember reading a lot and hearing a lot about Lou Pearlman. And for those
of you who don't know, Lou Pearlman was this guy. He was this
rich guy who wanted to get into the entertainment business and he started managing these
or I think he started at his own record label actually Transcontinental or something,
some generic sounding name and UH and he started bringing on these these boy bands
and putting them together and so forth. But I think he might be in
prison now because he got into a lot of trouble and he ended up getting
sued by the different groups that were working with him, like UH in Sync
was one of them. I remember they sued him, I think to get
out of their contract, and because he turned out to be not exactly an
honest broker in terms of business and was stealing a lot of money from these
groups he was managing and had on his label. I don't remember all the
details, but but Maizie made a comment that her dad was a little bit
a little bit skeeved out by I think the young people say that, right,
skeeved out by by lou Pearlman at their very first meeting, and was
very suspicious of him. So I just think that would be a fascinating conversation
have. So I want to get Mazie's dad on the show too. But
but yeah, they were amazing Fox and the Flamingos just incredible. Uh So
today on the show in the second hour, we have Hands of Spite,
and then tomorrow on the show we're gonna be joined by After the Winter,
another really really great band and so much great talent around here. So also
regarding today a programming note, well, actually we'll hold we'll hold off on
that because I think our friend Charles is on the line. Charles is that
you. Oh yeah, I had to chime in on Louke Pelman because my
wife, who is got a huge love affair with the Backstreet Poison, I
mean almost to the point of fantasy. Yes, I'm not going to join
the much set on that. You just use your imagination on that one.
Sure, But she apparently knows the entire bio of Louke Perlman because they drugged
the boys under the water and then some next with them big time. Oh
I think, you know, they are the ones that got most of the
damage with from from Perlman. But to my understanding, at least that's what
she says. I don't know, but she also just sains that the in
sync fan too, So oh really, I don't know if it's just saying,
you know, to make it look popular, but yeah, Luke Perlman
apparently he put the idea up, but he kept most of the profits.
Yeah, I guess it was like bringing the contract and stuff like that,
and I'm not sure about indezzling, but yeah, he's he's in for a
lot of money in regards to being in prison. So you're right on that.
So he is in prison right now. Yeah, yeah, that's what
I thought. Yeah, I seem to remember, didn't he really take advantage
financially because you know, he's got these young guys, I mean, some
of them teenagers still at that point that he's signing, and I'm sure he's
promising them the world, and you know, to be fair, they did
become very famous while working with him. But but but he was taking taking
most of the money, which is uh, you know, and even with
entertainment contracts, which very often are predatory, it won't necessarily hold up in
court if you're if you're taking advantage of people just because you put something in
a contract like for example, I'm gonna make you famous, but I get
all the money, that's not necessarily going to hold up in court. Yeah,
it's also too it's like you're having these fourteen and fifteen year old boys
find this deal and I'm sure that I'm sure that parents like say, yeah,
go after whatever, right, you know, so they're they're behind it.
But it's like, yeah, you're kind of like you're kind of sewing
a bag of goods, and it's like, you know, it's gonna be
all this great deal and this great awesome thing, and meanwhile you're touring the
country, staying in some three star hotel and lou Perlman's over there building mansions,
like yeah, you know, it's like it doesn't seem that great when
it actually happens. But apparently, according to the Backsteae Boys start line,
which by the way, there is a movie about it, and it does
it does say about how they got. They got hammered thumb Perlman, not
literally fuck they got. They got hammered by him, and they didn't make
hardly any money when their first big hits came out, right, So it's
like, you see, you're seeing him make new music. Now they're keeping
I mean, of course, you know, they're making it a lot better
than they were back then. But like their first three I think Alyssa said,
three or four records they like barely made any money off of because he
just sucked them so dry. Wow, well they did, uh they did
come out of it. Uh, you know, okay obviously, but oh
yeah, they they obviously got their fame and just whatever they right turns to
gold with all these teeny bos. My god. Now, of course te
pop is being late thirties now, but they're still they're still you know,
they still got their fan clubs going on. Yeah, I mean, now
when they have a hit song, it's on the adult contemporary charts, but
nothing wrong with that. A hit is a hit. I love, yeah,
I love I love that track about five years ago. You know the
song. I'm sure you've heard it because Alyssa so into them. Uh,
don't go break in my heart not not not not the Uh yeah, I've
heard of it. I've heard of about a few million times against my will.
So that's that's downright torture in my book. Right now. I think
that's a great track. It's so catchy. I love that song. Realistically.
We saw them in concert I think last year, year before or whatever.
Yeah, just when they when they came to the Tampa And honestly,
they're they're great performers, they really are they And only the only regret I
have I didn't bring enough ear plugs wasn't for the music. It was the
girls screaming as loud as they can right behind me. Yeah. It was
not enough, how and all to get rid of that headache. But they're
great. They're really great performers. They they lit it up. Man,
they did really good. Yeah. Yeah, no I'm not. I'm not
surprised. Yeah, all right, all right, go ahead, bring my
two cents in. Yeah, I appreciate it. Charles, thank you for
the call. All right, all right, all right, bye bye,
all right. That was Charles Richardson from Florida and uh yeah, Lou Pearlman.
Very interesting story. So, like I said, hopefully, hopefully we
can get Mazie's dead on the show. I'd love to get his insight.
Uh six oh three two five oh six O seven is a studio line six
three two five ozho six zero seven. You can also text me at six
one seven nine one seven four four seven six. I'm on social media at
Matt Connerton. You can email me Matt at Matt Connerton dot com. And
of course you can act endo Pine in the Facebook live chat and we will
say hello everybody in there in a moment. But the best thing to do
so that we can hear and enjoy your dulcet tones is to give us a
call at six zero three two five six zero seven. By the way,
so quick programming note, because it is Wednesday, so as you may have
noticed, we have not had last week. We didn't have and we don't
have the segment this week either. My favorite conservative Eric Pilcher not joining us
again this week. Hopefully we can resume that next week. Here's what's going
on. Just briefly. Eric's schedule is busy and because of other obligations,
it's become impossible for him to join us during the first hour on Wednesdays,
Like he had been, so beginning next week, because I discussed it with
Jenny. Jenny does all the scheduling of the guests, and so starting next
week, what we're gonna try to do is not have musical guests on Wednesdays
in the second hour. And we always have musical guests in the second hour
because if they want to come in and play live, that's that's got to
be in the second hour. That that won't work in the first hour for
various reasons. But so what we'll what we're gonna do is the plan is
Saturday next week, will we'll leave that second hour open so that Eric will
be able to join us in the second hour, so that we can resume
that segment because I really enjoy it. I always look forward to get and
to hang out with Eric for the hour, and I know a lot of
the listeners enjoy it as well. So just a brief explanation if you're wondering
Eric will return next week. Of course we'll have his film review on Friday
too. But Shannon is on the line. High Shannon as good afternoon.
Hello. Didn't a lot of record producers executives do that to a lot of
people that back in the day, like George Michael Tony and back in the
day. I'm sure it still happens now. I mean, it's a dirty
business, Shannon, It's a dirty business. People have more freedom to do
it themselves with the computers and stuff. Well, that's the thing, you
know, You've really it's funny. I was thinking about this just recently.
You've really got in this era. This is how I think about it.
In the music industry, You've kind of got two systems that run concurrently.
You've got the old system, which is, you know, you you get
signed by a record label and there they release your music and you go on
tour and you do all that. And then you've got the new system online
where you can do it however you want to and really kind of take your
fate in your own hands because you can you can do everything yourself and you
don't necessarily need a record label or even a management team or any of that,
and and uh, and so you can you can do it either way,
or you can do it both ways. I mean, these these two
ways of doing it are not mutually exclusive, obviously, but but yeah,
you you know, the old system is still very much alive and well,
but you do have other ways of going about it, certainly that you didn't
have twenty years ago. Yeah, well, at least at least there's another
option, you know now, Yes, uh. In something I want to
say yesterday, I was reminded earlier to when you go to the pharmacy to
get your vaccine, corporate, at least the one the pharmacy I go to,
doesn't care that the pharmacist is the one that has to run out and
give someone a shot and run back and do the pharmacy thing. They don't,
in other words, provide anyone extra for the inoculations or vaccines whatever.
Well, I'm sure it depends. I'm sure it depends where you go.
I mean, you know, a lot of places are shorthanded. Right now,
I can tell you the right aid on McGregor Street. They seem to
run a pretty tight ship as far as that goes from what I've seen.
But it depends where you go a lot of places don't have enough help.
Yeah, well, there's not having enough help, and then there's corporate being
too cheap to one or hire someone to sit there and give the shots while
the pharmacists does their job. Yeah, says job to do. Hey,
you can't afford it, hire a volunteer nurse, you know. Yeah,
I guess I don't know if there's only so many people to hire it.
We're sitting we're sitting at we're sitting at three and a half percent unemployment with
no end to it in sight. So, uh, you know, there's
only so much you can do as far as hiring people. You gotta have
people to hire. And yeah, oh and and I tried calling yesterday,
but uh, it's amazing Ray right, Yes, I believe so. She
They were all awesome. But I love that growl she's got. I'd love
to be able to know how to do that. M h. That that
I can't do it, so I can't. Sure you're an example, sure,
yea amazing singer. The whole band is fantastic, Yeah, absolutely,
And I just wanted to say, awesome job. And that was great.
Yeah yeah, big, big, big, big success with the audience,
that's for sure. Everybody loved it. Yep. And the next one.
Here's an idea for the next uh indictment report or whatever about Trump be there.
Uh it's gonna start his own band when he's in prison, Colored iron
bars. Mhm. But I'm all right, Shannon or something. I could
just sticking bars. I don't know, there's doors too whatever. Okay,
all right, I don't want to make it angry by all right, Shannon,
make who angry? All right? Very good? H Well that was
our friend, Shannon, and that does open up the line for you.
Six zero three two five six seven six three two five six seven. By
the way, speaking of getting vaccinated, and I did make brief mention of
this earlier, So yeah, last night I was in rough shape, so
I got vaccinated. I got the updated COVID vaccine in the morning. Maderna
and uh and the flu shot got him both, so did Jenny. But
I always seem to have a reaction, and in the past it's just made
me very, very fatigued, very tired, usually in the evening. You
know, if I get vaccinated for a sing in the morning, by the
time I'm done doing the show here and I'm getting ready to head home,
I'm like, I start to really feel it. Oh, yesterday was bad
because I was not only fatigued, but I had a splitting headache and I
just I went home after the show. I made it through the show no
problem, and I think having a you know, having a great band here
always kind of energizes me anyway, So I think that that kept me going.
If if I was just sitting here doing the show by myself with no
guests, I don't know. I don't know how if I would have made
it through the show, but no, I'm sure I would have, but
I would have been struggling. But yeah, I went home and I just
kind of collapsed on the couch and Jenny went and got a blanket to put
over me, and I was just it was like I had it. I
was running a fever one hundred point nine. Jenny took the tamp and this
morning the fever was gone, so and I feel much much better. Still
not one hundred percent, but I really had a You know that that seems
to be the standard side effect that I get after getting a COVID shot.
Is it just kind of takes me down that night, and then in the
next day I'm fine or close to it. But but yeah, that's why
I made that comment earlier. I didn't see Mike's email till this morning.
He probably sent it right after the show or during the show, and I
just didn't see it until today because I was so wiped out. But but
from what I've read, you know, that's that's actually a good thing.
If you have a reaction like that to getting vaccinated, it's a good thing
because what that indicates is that your immune system is reacting to the to the
vaccine, the you know, the message. That's why they call it messenger
RNA. Uh, the information that the vaccine is giving to your immune system.
And uh so, uh, you know, I'd much rather have one
night of feeling horrible than getting COVID and having five, seven, ten days
of feeling horror or worse. So so well worth it. But oh boy,
this one, this one hit me hard though, but definitely worth it.
Get to you know, get it done, get it out of the
way. Uh, let's see. Oh Hans Smith from Sepsis is in the
Facebook live chat and says I've had after effects after from the shot. Oh
yeah, yeah. But like I said, it's it's actually a good thing
because it means that your your immune system is reacting appropriately to the vaccine.
So and it gets the message. Uh, if you'd like to join us
six zero three two five six z seven six zo three two five six zero
seven, we will say hello. Everybody in the Facebook live chat. Crystal,
our friend from the Great state of Illinois, joins us and says,
hello everyone, eazyg. Eric Gagnan says, Happy Prince Spaghetti Day. Charles
Richardson, who we heard from a few minutes ago, is also in the
chat room. He says, Olah, fellow Connor tonights or actually he wrote
Connor to Eyer's. I don't know if that's supposed to be Connor Tonights or
if he's trying out a new uh, a new nickname for us all.
Jenny is in the chat, of course, and says shalom peeps. Crystal
says, and again she's in Illinois. She says, they don't sell Prince
spaghetti here, No Hood products or Scotland Franks either, weird. Scott Robinson
joins us in the chat and says, I love Wednesdays on the Matt Connerton
on the show because I think he's using voice to text, because I know
we're going to get Eric Gagnan's entertainment a report. Oh no, no,
no, no, not on Wednesdays, EASYG. We'll do one at some
point, but he's always got a reason why he can't, So that's okay.
Ronda Fervero joins us, of course, from the gray state of California
says hello everyone. Hello Rhonda, jay Fed from the gray state of Vermont
joins us tomorrow people five who I'm going to go out on a limb and
say, it's probably from Greensboro, North Carolina says, we say good afternoon,
hashtag Matt and we say late Lou Pearlman and we say that he and
seeing boy bands is new kids on the Block, Backstreet Boys and and Sync
from us. We love the Backstreet Boys music hashtag Matt from us because they
are talented and those great love songs. Good afternoon hashtag Jason Fetterson, we
say to you from us, and we did not hack Isaac Banks. We're
still on that and we did not hack Isaac Banks. From us to you,
Jason, we hope you understand. From us tomorrow people five, Okay,
Crystal says, if you ever watch Behind the Music and True Hollywood stories
on famous people, there is a lot of predatory and shady af managers who
profit tremendously off their client's talents. Oh yeah, it's a dirty business,
no doubt about it. And before you sign anything, you should you know,
have an entertainment lawyer. Check it out and make sure the entertainment lawyer
is, you know, operating in good faith on your side. They should
be. You're hiring them. Yeah, it's a it's a shady business,
no doubt about it. Tomorrow People five, says Hi, Crystal, good
afternoon. We said from us to you. We say you add Fox and
the Flamingos on your show yesterday, hashtag Matt from us. Yes, I
did, on Smith calling me heavy metal Matt. Yes, that's me.
That's a good name. Miriam Bannis joins us in the chat and says,
Hi, there, I keep thinking it's Thursday. Ugh, I hate that.
Oh no, no, we're only halfway through, halfway through the week.
Let's see tomorrow People five says Hi. Fox and the Flamingos. We
are Tomorrow People five, a pop singing group, and we are from Greensboro,
North Carolina. Matt, we heard you said from us, Yes,
Crystal says in the chat room. B two K has members getting PTSD and
having public meltdowns from what they went through and are calling it out. Sadly,
fellow band members have been discrediting what's being said. I think that further
adds to the trauma being called a liar. Oh, no doubt, no
doubt tomorrow people five says hashtag Matt, we do karaoke as well for Center
City Park, downtown Greensboro, North Carolina. Yes, Will Vegas joins us
in the Facebook live chat from of course, Will's autocare great place. I
suggest you take your car there for your automotive needs. Will says hashtag we
say all lou Pearlman's boy bands played the flute. I see what you did
there, Will, And Oh, I think this is Charles calling us back.
Hey Charles, Hey, I know it's not very customary or professional to
college show twice in the same day, but we gotta take a pull.
I mean no, well not we, I think more you. We gotta
find out if there's actually anybody that's not in a boy band in Greensboro,
North Carolina, Like, is there actual residents there? Maybe people that work
at Walmart or maybe you know, work at Circle K or seven eleven.
I mean, is there any regular people in Greensboro or they all like linked
the boy bands and they all happen to find your show it. You could
probably get a grant for to do some research on it. It does seem
as though there are a lot of boy bands in Greensboro, North Carolina,
and they all do karaoke in downtown Greensboro. It's very interesting. I know.
I'm thinking, there's like there's got to be something going on there that
like, we gotta get the mayor of Greensboro on the phone. What is
going on? Are you getting overrun with teen teen bands over there? Is
there any regular people that live in your area? I mean, even seen
your citizens? Please anybody just I mean, all we're getting is boy bands
here. I'm really I'm really scared next time I come up there. If
I go through a road trip, I go through Greensboro, I'm thinking,
I'm gonna I'm gonna, you know, if I stop at a road lights,
gonna want to listen. Have me listen to their song with hashtags on
it? That's right. I don't I don't know if I can handle that.
I would go around Greensboro. Will Vegas says. Will Vegas says Greensboro
is the new hotbed for the boy band movement. I had no idea hashtag
that if I get yeah hashtag hashtag the hashtag, I say to you,
yes, yeah, Well, I say to you, Matt, there's there's
something going on in Greensboro hashtag boy bands something in the water. It's yeah,
definitely all right, Charles. Nice for the call, very nice.
That was our friends. Tomorrow People five says hello hashtag Charles Richardson, Good
afternoon from Greensboro, North Carolina. And we say do karaoke as we can.
Hello Hello hashtag Greensboro mayor. We say that we do karaoke. Well,
maybe you know, Jenny schedules a guess. Maybe Jenny can reach out
to the mayor of Greensboro, North Carolina and see if they would like to
join us on the show. Miriam Bannish says, I have a cousin in
Greensboro. Miriam, have your if you don't mind, could you have your
cousin look into this, or maybe your cousin isn't a boy band. I
don't know. Crystal says Charles stops at a red light in Greensboro and ends
up in a boy band. Well, you know, that's probably what happens.
That's probably what happens. I would just go I would just go around
there. Will Vegas says hashtag Bye Bye Bye Greensboro. I like that song
and I'm I'm not ashamed to admit it. Bye bye bye bye in sync.
That is very catchy, very catchy. Probably the only sing song I
liked, But that is very catchy. I like that song. That's my
jam. I think the young people say that, right, they say that's
my jam. Six O three two five zero six zero seven is a studio
line if you'd like to join us six zero three two five six zero seven.
Don't put it off, though, because we do have a great musical
guest stock coming up in just a little bit. In the second hour,
Hands of Spite will be with us live in studio. Miriam says, my
cousin would be in a girl whoops, let me back up there. My
cousin would be in a girl band. But I expect she isn't. Well
you should I, you know, for all you know, she could be
and you just don't know it yet. You know. We have a call.
See who's on the line here? Hi, Welcome to Matt Connerton unleashed.
Who's this? Hey Matt? How are you doing buddy? Oh it's
Polly c. How are you? I'm doing well? I'm just calling to
give the show, our show a quick plug. Yes, yes, this
Friday night, you and I and J Steve will be paying tribute to the
wonderful Doctor Demento. Yeah, I look forward to that. That'll be fun.
I remember when I was a kid listening to Doctor Demento his syndicated show.
One of the I don't remember which one, maybe you know one of
the Boston radio stations carried it. Yeah, I was on w c o
Z kick Ass of Rock and Roll. Ah, yes, yeah, that'll
be fun. And for the millennials out there, that was ninety four and
a half FM back then and eventually turned into I think w zo U was
a zoo uh like of a mid eighty YEP and today it is w JMN
jam in ninety four five and what are they doing there? Are they doing
pop or hip hop? Urban pop? Yeah? Yeah, back of the
day was ill. I mean, I want to call it classic rock,
but it wasn't classic rock back of the day. It was all the current
stuff. But they played currently what we now consider classic rock, you know,
Joe Walsh and Nazareth and just a great hard rock station. And that's
all they played, you know, versus their competitors, uh like bcn BCN
did include their you know, the hard rock in their in their format,
but they also played a lot of new age and alternative type of rock and
new wave I should say type of rock back in the day. Yeah,
but CZ kept it all hard rock and they had the Doctor Demento Show and
Friday Night, well, we're gonna be playing a bunch of classic tunes that
he would feature on his show, including songs from the fifties through the nineties.
And I gotta tell the three years that I've been doing it out radio
station, I'm having the most fun this week building the show, just hearing
these songs and last days a Demento awesome. So it'll be a great night
on Friday night on retro Spectral. He's not still on, is he Doctor
Demento? He must he must be long. Is he even still alive?
I don't know. I'm gonna read up on him tomorrow night like I normally
do on my Thursday's doing my history lesson with the stuff that we play.
But yeah, from what I gathered last night on the brief portions that I
read, he's eighty two years old now, and I didn't read of anything
of whether or not he's still syndicated. But I will find that out and
we will share that with the world on Friday night at a pm Eastern.
Well, very good. I look forward to that as always. All right,
my brother, carry on with your fabulous show, big fan. All
right, Paul, thanks for the call. I'll see you Friday. All
right, very nice. That was policy from retros Spectrum Radio with Police every
Friday night from eight to eleven pm here on wm H ninety five point three
FM. And I do have the honor and privilege of one of Paul's co
hosts on that show along with DJ Steve, and so I always look forward
to. Fridays are my favorite day here at w M ANDH because I get
to I get to basically spend the day here. So well, if if
you actually I get here at about three thirty in the afternoon, so I
don't know if that's really spending the day, but you know what I mean,
it's my long day here. So there you go. If you'd like
to get in with a quick call, probably have time for one more call
before we get to the top of the hour. Six O three two five
O six Z seven. The studio line is open six three two five six
O seven. We should talk about just quickly. Well, there's a debate.
Tonight, there's another Republican vice presidential debate. I call it a vice
presidential debate because obviously none of these people are going to be the nominee.
That's tonight at the Reagan Library. Trump won't be there, which isn't surprising
for two reasons. One is, I don't think he's going to do any
of these debates. I mean, he's going to be the nominee, so
what's in it for him? But also he's got a long running feud with
the Reagan Library. In twenty sixteen, he refused to do the Reagan Library
debate as well. But the thing that caught my eye today that I thought
was really interesting. So we've been talking a lot on the show recently about
New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez and his legal problems. This is from Nbcnews dot
Com. See, you gotta watch what these people do and how they vote,
because there's always a reason. Menendez single handedly blocked a bipartisan effort to
strengthen the law regulating foreign influence in Washington. The new Jersey senator charged last
week with accepting bribes, halted a twenty twenty proposal fueled by widespread concerns that
foreign influence campaigns had successfully infiltrated American politics. And by the way, so
this is about FARAH. The Foreign Agents Disclosure and Registration Enhancement Act, which
basically says, if you are working in any way representing a foreign country or
a business foreign business, uh, you have to register with our government.
Just so yeah, there's nothing illegal about that necessarily, but just so everyone
knows what you're doing, what you're you know, who you're associating with.
It is very loosely enforced, but it is important. And the last time
I talked about this on the show was Farah specifically was regarding Hunter Biden,
because I kind of have felt I don't want to get sidetracked. But just
briefly, that's that's actually been my biggest concern with Hunter Biden. Why did
he ignore FARAH, which he should have registered with. But apparently a lot
of lobbyists and so forth they don't register with FARAH even though they're legally required
to, and they get away with it more often than not because it's very
loosely and laxly enforced. In fact, that was one of the excuses some
apologists for retired General Mike Flynn used in defense of Mike Flynn when he was
on his way to prison. One of the things was, you know,
he violated farah, he did not disclose to the United States government for an
interest that he was representing. And he got caught and he got charged.
But this guy, Democratic senator from New Jersey, Bob Menendez, well here,
this will get us caught up. I want to do this quickly.
But again this is from NBC news dot com. Senator Robert Menendez, charged
last week with secretly aiding the Egyptian government in exchange for bribes, single handedly
blocked passage of bipartisan legislation in twenty twenty that would have strengthened the law regulating
for an influence and lobbying in Washington. Senate records show, and by the
way, this was bipartisan Republican Senator of Iowa Chuck Grassley. He was the
sponsor of the legislation, but had bipartisan support. Both Republicans and Democrats were
behind this and in fact it was expected to pass. But guess who made
sure that it did not. Guess who made sure that it didn't advance at
all. Robert Menendez, a Senator from New Jersey, who today the arrangement
was today is now charged with taking bribes on behalf of Egypt and so forth.
It's a little more complicated than that, obviously, but so you know,
obviously this is not a coincidence. Oh and his reason, as I
understand it, the reason he gave for why he was going to uh,
he didn't want this to go forward as something about well, and I heard
the audio. I heard the audio today. I don't have it ready,
but it was something about, well, I think I think this is important,
and obviously I think that this law needs to be strengthened and or widely
enforced or more consistently enforced, however he put it. But I'm just not
sure that this particular bill is the right way to do it. Again,
keep in mind, this was bipartisan, this bill that Chuck Rasley had brought
forth. But Menenda said, oh, I'm not sure that this is the
right way to do it, and I think we need to give this a
little more thought. And this and that just some mealy mouthed nonsense, which
apparently surprised everyone at the time because this seemed like a no brainer. This
seemed like a slam dunk and listen. It's really hard to get people in
power to actually hold themselves accountable to begin with, right, you know,
or put any restraints on themselves that are beyond what already exists, which aren't
much to begin with. Right. So here was an opportunity to do something,
and Menenda said, yeah, we should do something, but I don't
know if this is really the answer, So that let's us not do anything
basically is what it amounted to, right, And sure enough nothing was done.
There was no follow up, There was no amended bill that I know
of. It was just Okay, well, Bob doesn't want this to happen,
so I guess it's not going to happen. So it says here.
The proposed Foreign Agents Disclosure and Registration Enhancement Act grew out of widespread concerns that
the current law regulating foreign lobbying had seldom been enforced and that foreign influenced campaigns
had successfully infiltrated American politics. Strengthening the law had drawn support from Democrats and
Republicans on key committees. In December twenty twenty, after a Republican senator asked
for unanimous consent to bring the bill to the Senate, floor for a vote.
Menendez stood and objected. The New Jersey Democrat argued that while enforcement of
foreign lobbying rules needed to be strengthened, more thought he needed to be done.
Oh there's a typo here. He thought more needed to be put into
it, into exactly how to do it. More thought needed to be put
into it. Okay, here's exactly what he said. This is what he
said on the Senate floor. If you have some boots by before I read
this, put your boots on before I read this, because it's going to
get a little thick here. And I don't do a botman Endez impressions,
so I've rarely even heard his voice. Okay, but here's what he said.
It seems shortsighted to provide additional enforcement tools before we have figured out what
that regime should look like. The disturbing rise of foreign influenced campaigns that use
a variety of measures to mask who is the ultimate source or beneficiary should serve
as an alarm bell for all of us. So before this body passes any
tweaks or new tools and adds to the current patchwork of FAARA regulations and exemptions,
I think we should take a step back and take a comprehensive look,
and we have not done that. Unquote. Okay, well, somebody did
something because there's was legislator with bipartisan support. Two congressional aids told NBC News
that it was clear that Menendez was objecting for himself, not for another senator.
They also said that the bill had significant support from key Democrats, including
Senator Mark Warner of Virginia, then ranking Democrat on the Intelligence Committee, and
Senator Diane Finestein of California, the top Democrat on the Judiciary Committee. Menendez's
office did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Three years later,
the Foreign Agents Registration Act, known as FARAH, has not been updated.
Senators at the time said it was a huge missed opportunity. Republican Senator Chuck
Grassley of Iowa, who had asked for the unanimous consent, noted that the
bill had drawn support from a bipartisan group of senators and appeared surprised that Menendez
had objective. Grassly said, quote, it took a lot of work to
put together the bill that I asked unanimous consent on, to work out the
differences with several different approaches, and I thought that we had taken everything into
consideration, particularly bringing together people from the Intelligence Committee and the Judiciary Committee.
Unquote. The existing affera, which was enacted in nineteen thirty eight and last
updated in nineteen sixty six, requires agents of foreign entities to register with the
Justice Department and file detailed public disclosures detailing their lobbying and influenced campaigns. Failure
to register is a crime, but prosecutions have been rare. According to a
detailed analysis of the text by law firm, the bill Menendez blocked would have
We'll go through these very quickly. I see musicians in the hallway. Here's
what the bill would have done. Increase the criminal penalties for willful violations and
material misstatements to two hundred thousand dollars from ten thousand dollars. Created a so
that's a fine, I guess. I created a new criminal offense for meeting
with a member of Congress or staff without disclosing that an individual is registered as
a foreign agent. Required the Department of Justice to develop a comprehensive strategy for
I don't even know what a lot of this means. We'll skip that.
Let's get to the end of this. Yere Menendez and his wife pleaded not
guilty in federal court in Manhattan today to a three count indictment alleging they were
part of a bribery scheme. Among the allegations where that the senator accepted bribes
from an Egyptian American businessman with ties to the Egyptian government. The indictment says
Menendez passed on sensitive US government information to Egyptian officials. And by the way,
Menendez is still not resigned, and I don't think he will, Crystal
said in the chat room, Menendez's ethics got blinded by the gold bars he
got from Egypt. Greed kicked in. Of all the countries to worry on
about foreign influence, Egypt is not even in the top ten shady and evil
countries. Maybe Menendez thought his corruption would fly under the radar. Yeah,
you know what I think, Crystal, And you know, Egypt is at
least on paper and ally of the United States. But what I think happened
is I think he got cocky after twenty seventeen. Remember he was on trial
in twenty seventeen. I don't remember if his wife was as well. She
is now their co defendants, and he was not acquitted, but it was
a hung jury. And then he got re elected in twenty eighteen. No
problem, he got re elected. So I think he just thought, oh,
look, I'm Teflon, I can get away with this. I know
how to work the system. I can I can stand up and object to
Senator Grassley's legislation, and uh, no one will suspect I have an ulterior
motive, you know. That's that's part of what happens to these people they
I think that's my theory anyway. There as as they are are more and
more successful over time in their criminality, they begin to believe that they're smarter
than the system and that they're not going to be held accountable ultimately, and
then it catches up with them. That's my theory. I've never been a
wealthy and powerful person, so I don't know, but that's my theory about
what happens. All right, So we are approaching the top of the hour.
So here's where we're gonna do play. We're gonna play some tunes,
or at least one song. Now I've got ah. Well, it might

Let me bring those mics up. We've got Hands of Spite joining us
live in studio. How are you guys? Hey? Great? Are you
doing man? Man? Thank you so much for having us. Yeah,
I appreciate uh, I appreciate you guys coming in. I played, Uh,
I played a track, was a dumb love song? Great, great
song. Thank you appreciate that. Where are you guys from? We're all
kind of collectively from outside of Boston. Uh. Austin lives just uh in
Pawtucket. Yeah, I'm in protect Right Island. Yeah, where are you
guys that I don't even remember? Grew up within a half hour of Boston,
so I got check it. I consider us from from Boston. Yeah
yeah yeah. Now how long has that album been out? What's what's the
full name of the album? Songs Love Songs for the Dumb and Stupid.
It's been since Austin's birthday. Yeah, yeah, so July end of July
twenty five, so it's been out for about like two months now. Oh
so it's pretty new. That's great. Yeahs off the press. Also,
before we go any further, I just want to say shout out to able
Blood for giving us a shout out and getting us here, sous. Those
guys are awesome. Oh yeah, they're great. Yeah, absolutely, it's
funny. So I'm curious about the name because when I hear the name Hands
of Spite, when when Jenny first you know, Jenny does all the book
in him when she first had Hands of Spite, I was thinking metal,
which you're you're clearly not a metal band, but the name is is you
know, it must be the word spite, right if it if it if
it was hands of Love or something, or hands and cauliflowers kind of band,
right, Yeah, hands and Spite makes it edgier, it does it
does? Yeah, where does the name come from? Who came up with
the name? Well, uh, one of my favorite bands is Ceremony and
they have a song called My Hands Are Made of Spite, And I was
like, that's a great band name. Yeah, yeah, snagged. I
think genre wise, you know, we get heavier and we're not you know,
we're not a metal band, but yeah, you know we can get
down. I would imagine live, you're probably just because a lot of bands,
you know, live, you're probably heavier than Yeah, we definitely pretty
hard, a little faster too, I think. Really. Uh yeah,
it's a good time. If you are just joining us, We've got Hands
of Spite in studio with us. And if you have any questions or anything,
feedback for the guys, anything at all, the studio line is open

five zero six zero seven and we're going to talk for a bit and then
these guys are gonna play live for us in studio, so really looking forward
to that hearing them live. And let's do this. Uh, we haven't
done the formalities yet. Let's start at the news desk and sir, tell
us tell us your name and exactly what you do in the band. Oh
well, my name is Zach and I'm drummer of the band. All right,
primarily what I do, but I like to provide moral support as well.
There you go. I try though, all right, and you sir,
and I am Nate. I'm the bass player, no moral support whatsoever.
I'm a bass player too. We're not good at more, we're not
good at moral sut. No, you're you're better than you think. You
know clearly you're the moral support. My name is Sam. I played guitar
and sing and I am apparently the moral support. Bear. There you go
when it comes to Yeah, and my name is Austin. I'm the other
guitar player and singer. Okay, what's your moral support level? Medium?
I don't know. Has it always been the four of you in this band?
Well, let's start it out. Is a three piece, so is
me, Zach and Austin Okayeh, Austin was playing bass. Yeah, and
then Nick came in. And I don't consider the band fully forming until Nick
came in, so right, right? Had you always intended to add a
fourth member before Nate came in? Or yeah? I mean I think we
just didn't sound as full. Yeah. Well, think when we were forming
the band we needed a bass player because Sam was playing guitar and we didn't
there wasn't anything else. So Austin played bass, but he primarily plays guitar,
so once we had him in the group, we were like, oh,
let's switch him over to the just a lead guitar and brought in an
actual bass player to the mix. And right, well, Austin's a good
bass player. Let's great. And I mean when I when I met Austin,
he was playing solo guitar in his in his project, and I just
love his style and I think just he brings a whole different depth to the
to the project. It's amazing. Now, do you have any recorded music
of the band as a three piece or is everything that you've put out in
the four of you know, it was only a three piece for a month
months? Yeah, we did, like like when yeah, before any music
live? I got you, I got you? And do you guys play
a lot of are you playing a lot of shows? We were? And
then we're kind of taking a break because we have a second record that we're
just trying to find tune before we go to the studios. Oh cool,
Yeah, a full album or an EP or it's a ninth song, Yeah,
excellent, excellent, same same kind of stuff or is it sound changing
over time or I think I mean, I'll just open up the door to
this one and have everyone else kind of comment. But I feel like this
is more of a it's a darker record, it's it's not as dirty.
I feel like it's a lot cleaner in terms of our songwriting, because I
feel like the first record was us kind of finding our footing, and this
is us kind of diving in a little bit more flavor wise. Be like,
oh, Austin's gonna put hispin on it, Zach and Nate are going
to put their spins on it, and I just I'm like a rock.
I don't change at all. It's definitely become a much more collaborative process with
this new stuff. Yeah, for sure, excellent, excellent. Do you
guys all write together? Yeah? Now we do? Now we yah.
Initially when the band started, we kind of had like Sam would bring something
to the table that was basically a whole song and then we'd kind of jam
on it and then turn it into like our our style. But as we've
progressed as a group, we're definitely writing more together, being more collaborative,
and just making like more cohesive projects. Yeah, a lot of the stuff
like we're we're gonna be well, we're working on now and that's going to
be coming out soon. It's definitely like we're all working on together in a
room, the four of us, and like you know, Zach's trying out
a new like drumbeat to it, changing things up, and we're kind of
like giving each other feedback live in the room and working songs out together.
Yeah. So yeah, No, it's really exciting new stuff. I think
excellent, excellent, And where do you record? Last rerecorded was Willie Mammoth
with David Minahan and oh, yeah, that name came up recently. Oh,
able Blood. I think records with him? Right, really, I
think so that name came up recently on the show, Oh David Minahan.
Yeah, excellent. I think it was able Blood. Butter, I'm not
sure. I might just be thinking that because you mentioned them, and it
might be somebody completely different, but I feel like it was able Blood.
I mean, I don't know. We haven't talked about it, yeah,
between us, but yeah, Yeah, I love David. He's Kouka video
cool. Yes, really call him pop pop. Yeah, he just knows
what you do. Yeah, did you now? The first is the first
album? An album or an EP I forget EP and then a record Okay,
now the EP did you record Did you record that there as well?
That was all one big session. Yeah, the EP and the album were
from the same recording session, but we split them up just to oh,
like tease people, get people excited, yeah, and then drop the whole
thing on it. We did about sixteen songs and a handful of days.
Oh okay, We're like, oh, these four or five or good,
and maybe we'll have one carry over and then kind of, you know,
let it do its own thing. That's an ambitious schedule. Was it hard
doing it that way or were you just know? We were not really,
I mean, we practiced the way we this is just kind of like we'll
have a list of songs and you kind of just hammer it over and over,
so it kind of just gets like ingrained in our heads. So it's
just kind of like, we know, I know exactly what I'm supposed to
do right now, let's just walk in and do it. Yeah, that's
definitely how I felt with that, And I think because we hammered it all
in, it was like we were really lucky that we could get every song
pretty much in the first three takes. Oh that's great. Yeah, yeah,
later I mean my part drum tracks were done in like three takes.
Yeah. Yeah, basically one day. Yeah, which was a great day.
No. But when when you're well practiced and you know kind of what
you're going into, you can definitely be more efficient in the studio. Yeah,
we have a question in the chat room tomorrow People five says, hands
of spite, what is your favorite Three Doors Down song? Oh my god,
what a question. Those guys that do Kryptonite or no? No?
Yeah, yeah, I think that Superman whatever it took a walk around the
world. I could quit their whole discog. I feel like, oh,
well, phase, they were in the Early Sea. They you know,
did what they did? Yeah they did. They're not saying they did anything
what they did it. I hate that Kryptonite's song. It's it's a hit.
I hated it the first time I heard it, and I hated at
the one millionth time that I heard it. But but but but I hate
it. I think they had one or two other hits. But uh yeah,
what what an interesting like? Oh do you guys like three Doors Down?
Like I don't. I guess yeah, they had other song. Tomorrow
People five is one of our friends in Greensboro North Carolina, and there's a
lot of a lot of interesting questions that come out of there. Oh yeah,
and our friend Shannon is online. Hi Shannon, do you have a
question for the band? Yes, we say, I'm from I'm visiting Greensboro
at the moment. Now my question is, uh, do you have you
ever played in Canada? Oh? No, but we would would want to
know. That's right, you stole Easyg's question. No, we haven't played
in Canada yet, but we definitely love to. That would be amazing.
Yeah. And the other question is when you do have a show, do
you put the playlist up so everybody knows what's coming? No? No,
no, we want it to be a surprise. Sometimes it's a surprise to
us. All right, yeah, okay, all right, Shannon, thank
you for the You can steal that question sometime if you want. I don't
mean to steal his thunder. I was just asking, Yeah, hey,
somebody's got to do it right now. Yeah, okay, Shannon, by
bye, all right. That was our friend Shannon. That does open up
the line for you if you have any questions for the band. We've got
hands of spite here with us six zero three two five zero six zero seven
six three two five zero six oh seven. Did you guys have any videos
online of uh you, have you made any videos yet? It seems like
everybody's making videos, he says, yeah, no music videos. You have
like a couple of like live clips, like roughly recorded that are up on
YouTube. Definitely gives you a good sense of what it's like live. But
yeah, we haven't done any like high production value. We don't have that
kind of money. Man. Yeah, well these days you can do it
pretty cheap. It's it's pretty remarkable. We definitely have some ideas for videos.
Yeah, but I haven't really bit the bullet yet. Zach Zack and
a ball pit just running around sweaty, that would be great. I mean
there you go, yeah, oposed to a ball Yeah know, that's what
I'm saying. Like, you know, get a slide. Have you coming
down the slide? I mean I'm in, No, we know you're in.
Yes, we got the ideas we need. We need to get produce
video producer basin or something. Yeah, yeah, call in and help us
out. We need we need as much help clinically. Oh Melanie a liberty
from the Great State of vermontos US in the Facebook live Chat, Hello Melanie.
Now, so when you guys play, because obviously being based in and
around Boston, I mean, it's such a great scene. There are are
there any bands in the area that you kind of usually I mean I just
know from my own experience too, it usually kind of happens organically. But
are there any bands that you kind of team up with unofficially that you play
a lot of shows with so funny enough able blood. You know, they're
in a New Hampshire band, but we I mean we love all those guys,
yeah, just as people and their music. Their new album is amazing.
I have not stopped listening to it since I was very lucky to get
an early release, so uh them. There's a band called Lobo Own Raise
that we really love. They're like, they're just kind of a bad religion,
kind of straightforward old school like punk in your you know, they bring
the heat. Yeah, there's so many great bands that we've played with locally
though. Yeah. Yeah, I feel like sometimes it's unexpected to we just
show up to a gig and I'm like, I remember those guys from like,
you know, like a few months ago or something. That's always like
a great surprise. I guess to see the same band you love last time
you played and they're they're still out there cranking away. Yeah, or they're
better than they were before, like you you were like, oh I loved
you guys and it was an off night and now you guys are really stepping
your game up. And oh yeah, yeah, no doubt. Where have
you guys gotten out of the area of much as as far as live shows?
Yeah, we just toured in August. Oh where'd you go? Yes,
we did a run of shows. Where did we start? Philly was
the first show, right, and then uh, Cleveland and Madison, Wisconsin.
So we got to hang out, play with some play for some strangers
and stuff. It was a good time. It was a good time.
I guess tech started in Rhode Island. Oh yeah, yeah, right Island.
But we did. We did a bunch of shows within like two or
three weeks. Definitely covered a lot of ground on the road. Yeah,
yeah, it was fun. Where was the Furthest? You went? Was
it? Mat? Madison? Was the Furthest? Wow? Wow? That
was a cool venue. Yeah, crustal bowl or something huge five super professional
stage with the lights and everything. It was sick. Yeah, it scared
high production value upgrade from like an Irish pub like time far yeahn of the
other clubs we were playing at, I'll never forget the basement we played where
it was you you three were fine, but I was behind the water heater.
Yeah that was with it. Yeah. Yeah. Speaking of local awesome
bands, Troll Milk, Troll Milk, Yeah, they are rad. Yeah.
I'm also partial because I you know, the main the singer in that
band is like a brother to me. So oh okay, I'll check them
out there from Boston Salem. Yeah, okay, yeah, yeah, black
metal punk kind of thing, really cool, excellent, excellent. How many
shows did you do on that tour? Uh so technically like four? Right,
No, No, if you include all the Rhode Island stuff, Rhode
Island, Boston, it's like, I don't know, it's probably six.
Yeah, probably closer to it. I don't know. When are you letting
me talk so much? Guys, let's go with let's go with start.
That was like five six shows? Yeah overall? Thank Yeah, within three
weeks, I think we did like five or six shows. Okay, yeah,
yeah. Did you while you're on the road, did you did you
do any kind of like a like a vlog or anything like that of the
tour or anything. We really should have though, we basically were just like,
let's hit the road. I think we're all also pretty camera shy.
Really yeah right, well you're on camera right now, just say you no,
So you know that's why I feel so sweaty. Thing is over there,
Melanie says in the chat room. Wow, j FED must be super
happy with desk man's beard. So full and sty looking. I mean that's
true. Is that? Has anyone ever complimented you on your beard? You're
yes, you're a full and sturdy looking beard. No, not nearly enough.
I mean call it iver heard anybody call it sturdy, But that is
a true statement. People usually choose majestic, voluminous. Yes, but no,
no, people definitely comment on it. It is on my face after
that is a big beard. Yeah, a lot of people can't do it.
The blessing in a curse. That's true because most people when they grow
their beards out, they get these Yeah, they getting patchies. But but
you've got this, it's like it sort of grows down but also out and
out. Yeah. Yeah, that it goes everywhere. Man? Is that
your Yeah? Does he have Jewish there you go. Alright, well Jay
fed loves your beard. Oh well, I appreciate that, Thank you very
much. Melanie says it's sturdy af it is, Melie, Well, very
good, it's a yeah, it's all the beard oil. Yeah, do
you really do? See I've never had a long beard, do you.
Yeah, absolutely have to oil it. I've heard that. Yeah, what
does that too? Does that keep it from getting itchier? Well? Yeah,
it keeps it from getting like skin under the beard and then also relaxes
the hair so it doesn't like actually come out like a man. Yeah yeah,
brush it down. Oh okay, we need a sponsorship or something.
Yeah, shout out Badger, bad your products if you want to. I
don't know. I don't know if you're kidding. I'm not kidding it,
but I think but I think you. I think you could get you could
get a sponsorship from one of those companies. Honestly, we need to go
in corporate as soon as positive should. Actually, the whole, the whole
music video should be sponsored by Badger. You want me to your products of
any kind, you can let me know and I'd be happy to yell at
And that solves the problem about needing money for the music video. Yeah,
I will shameless endorsements for sure. It's called the music business for a reason.

Just You Guys, Home Run like Love the first release. This one is
next head like heading the Shoulder. It's so I can't get over I've been
listening to it NonStop since I got the CD. And also the artwork is
amazing too. Yeah, it's interesting the AI generated artwork. Is that what
that is? It's a I generated Yeah, isn't that interesting? No?

I don't know what's going on. I don't blame you. Now,
what do you guys have, So any kind of an eta on the album,
the new one that you're working on or no, I mean I don't

it. We got the songs like they're very close. We got a massage,
like the little details out in the songs. Yeah, get in a
studio. But after we get in a studio, I don't think it'll take
very long. No, I think we're gonna bang it up pretty this winter.
Maybe you're gonna do You're gonna be maybe end of the year is probably
a study. Yeah, so you're gonna do it the same way. It
sounds like going for a couple of days, and yeah, I think pretty
much. I think we're gonna try to do it even quicker. It's nine
songs, it's not sixteen. Yeah, and we got those sixteen songs down
almost entirely in the first two days. Well, it was the first day
mainly, and then we just had it was like two or three left over.
Yeah, which was insane. Yeah, so what that kind of pace?
It will be just fine. Yeah yeah, wow, very cool,
very cool. And so are you not playing any shows until then or are
you just focused on that or do you have anything coming? We have unofficial
weekend tour in November. Oh you do so unofficial, but unofficial can't announce
it. It just can't. I can't bring myself to do it. Yeah.
I can't say that I'm going to. But we will be out of
state in November. Okay, so interesting. Interesting Tomorrow people five is asking
a hashtag Austin, what is your favorite pizza? Oh? Favorite type of
Oh wait, I'm gonna weirdly go with deep dish pizza. Oh yeah,
because I never had a growing ups and every time I have it, I'm
just like, oh my god, I can't believe. Well, you know
what. So this is a place in the Providence called Cecilia's. I think
they make a baby size personal phenomenal Personal every pizza, the personal pizza.
What about like toppings? Are you like a pepperoni? Are you you know?
I like the I like the spinach one like spinach cheese. So you
animal tricks maybe it tricks me and a feeling healthy because it's like green or
something. But that's the one I always go with. Yeah. Interesting,
Yeah, there you go, there you go. Well we should uh.
I want to make sure we have enough time, so we should take a
break. I'll play I'll play another track from you guys, and you guys
can get set up. I'm dying to hear you play. Yes, this
is gonna be very cool. Crazy. Well, this be your first time
playing in a small room like this. Yeah, we've never done like an
acoustic like performance anyway. This is the first time. We practiced it earlier,
and I think it sounded just set in our practice room and we did
admit once or twice through each song, and he's like, okay, well
here we good to go. They're playing a different instrument for this one,
so it's gonna be fun. Yeah, oh interesting, Okay, I mean
I'm not playing drums, gotcha, gotcha? You're playing and play from my
idea. Yeah, I'm hitting stuff for sure. Listen to this song that
we've crafted. Everyone's sick around, Okay, love it? Help us,
No, it'll be it'll least. I have faith in you guys. All

Baby. How do you do that? Uh? It's a lot of jet
propulsion guttle area. Wow, all right? Sorry, am I love to
say that? What jet propulsion from the guttle area? Yeah, well I
didn't. I didn't hit the dump button. It's medically correct, so I
mean, it's just we're on an eight second delay. So if you say
something not medically correct, I can I can jump out of it. But
that's fine real quick. Well, I'll trust me. I'll hear about it.
If there's a problem, I'll hear about it. Uh no, no
worries, Austin. Can you play a little please? All right, we
should be good to go. I'll kind of ride the faders as we go,
as I do because I'm a sound guy and I'm OCD about it.
But yeah, yeah, all right, I'm looking forward to hearing you guys
play. So whenever you're ready, I hit it. This one's called these
Days. It's going to be our next single. All right. Yeah,
Hands of Spite live in studio two too. Let me come home, all

mind, something on my mind, something wrong. I'm not your telling for
getting hard. God don't even know what you can't do? Trying to find
pieces. Mind these days, bet On Holme, tell me into calacombs,
trace in the faces and places from my memory, stuck on our wall,
thinking I'm not cold. Well be younger. God don't even knows what you
can't do. Try to find piece Mond these days. God don't even knows
what you can't do. Try to find pebnd these days, trying to find
piece. Very nice, very nice. We have Hands of Spite joining us
live in studio. That sounded great. Thank you. You guys were saying,
I think it was off air. You were saying you hadn't you hadn't
played live acoustic before. We've ever done any acoustic. Yeah no, that
sounds the first time. Every messed around. Yeah no, that sounds that
sounds great. That sounds really good. It's very different. Jenny in the
chat room says wow, and uh, Vick Vicky Opine says, not bad.
I love it. I'll take it. Thanks to both of y'all.
Uh, this next one is gonna be way worse now. We're gonna intentionally
by the way, Adam Jocelyn says, yeah, sounds awesome, and Isaac
Banks says wonderful. Fellas, So you're getting some love in the Facebook live
check. I haven't called a fella since the last fist fights in What's a
Fella? Bud? Hey, gay friend a friend? Guy? All right,
well, I'm ready to hear the next one. All right now,
you guys you started off. All of this will be a distant movie about
how you felt for me, and all of this will be a lit's stick
cover dream of what we could have been. It's all the tat us what
you know and where it points you to you go. It's all that taught
us what you know what and where a pints you to you go and everything
you need. It could have been with me, but you decided to leave.
So all of this will be at tisting my mommy of you and me.
It's all the touchus what you know and will avits you to you go?
Cause all the touch yous what you know and where avits you to you
go. I'll clean it up this time and maybe a fall in line.
We'll give up everything I am. I'll kiss it all goodbye and save it
for next time. Well maybe the day after that. Slats what you know
and where to points you to you sli tato is what you know where a
point you to you good awesome. Yep, you gotta sound great. Hands
of Spike Live in the studio, Vicky Opine says, h Jim Blossom esque
love it? Okay, I kind of like I'll follow you down there.
You go there now you know that, but you don't know the outfield.
Uh no, I'm kidding. I'm kidding different different rors, she says,
I kind of like it. I'd like to hear you all live. Oh,
thank you very much. You should keep an eye on our website handsaspipe
band dot com. Yes please, yes, yes, and Jenny shared the
link in the chat room too. Now who does the who does the website?
Do you all us Austin over here? Yeah, yeah, yeah,
it's good. I'm kind of a website nerd, so I like the I
like the site. It's a good site. Oh yeah, thank you.
Well, because I mean, I meet a lot of musicians who have really
awful websites. Nice when I see none of the right right, yeah,
oh yeah, I've seen some. I've seen things that look like they were
built in two thousand and four. It's it's unbelievable. So it's it's and
it's important, you know, to have a good website. Sot that's really
good. That's really good. So do you guys think you might do do
something? I mean, does this playing these songs like Who's does it open
something up where maybe in the future you might play out somewhere where you know,
maybe they want an acoustic act and you say, oh, well,
you know we actually can do it that way. I mean, it does
open up some option. Yeah. I think they also kind of breathe.
It breathes a different life into the tunes, which is really interesting. Yeah,
a whole different way to play them, listen to them, think about
them, which is a lot of fun, right right. If you're just
joining us, we have Hands of Spite live in studio with Essaysa's played a
couple of songs and it's just sound absolutely amazing. If you have any questions
or anything at all for the band, the studio line is open six zero
three two five zero six zero seven six zero three two five zero six zero
seven. By the way, so why is the album I'm curious about the
album titles Love Songs for the Dumb and Stupid? Who came up with that?
And and is there a story behind that? I just thought it was
funny. Yeah, And there are some love songs in there. There's a
couple of collectively pretty dumb and stupid. Yeah, and the album artwork is
Zach's idea because we we're talking about like just things that make us happy,
and Zach goes hockey. I would kill for some cigarettes and ice cream,
and I was like, hold hold that, hold that cigarettes in ice cream?
Where cigarettes and ice cream? And you know, I don't care as
long as they're cream. No, I like it. It's a cool cover.
I should describe it for those of course, you know, you can
go online and see it. But yeah, it's a it's a dish of
ice cream with a bunch of cigarette butts stuffed in it. And it's it's
very rock and roll, I gotta say, really Elicits a response from people.
Yeah, people either hated or really hated Delicious, but also looks yeah.
Are you're like, are those sprinkles? Are they? Is it ash?
Yeah? I don't know. It still looks good and uh, you've
got also how do you how do you say this in cohite? What does
that mean? I've seen that word not not fully formed yet. So this
was oh okay. So this was of course the EP that came out before.
Yeah, And I mean I think ink wit was the It was an
appropo title because it's like, hey, we're just showing you the beginning of
it. Yeah, yeah, did the did the sound change much like they're
probably not because you did them all once, right, Those are like the
heavier songs on that from that session. It was like, oh, this
would be an interesting side thing on its own. The record is its own
kind of vibe, you know. Yeah, yeah, I think would think
the record that we put out is more like a good cohesive collection of songs
that kind of represent our style. Then like the EP is kind of like
just a little more raw and aggressive and just the nature of the songs and
like we we are doing that, but collectively, like as as a theme,
I think everything just worked better on the songs for the album. And
we have a call. Hi, Welcome to Matt Connerton Unleashed. Who's on
the line. Hi, This is Jacqueline Montolango. Hey, what's updy friend
Austin there. I'm just listening in and you guys sound amazing. Yeah,
thank you, Jackie very nice. Yeah, no I have I have a
bunch of spite in the rest of my body. Here we go yea yeah,
and say hi, and you know I'm currently at work, but just
taking a little bit of a break. And wow, what a great way
to end the evening into some amazing music. Thank you very appreciate your support.
Thank you all right, keep jamming out, guys, Jacqueline, thank
you so all we can do. Let's go. Hello's a nice call.
I'm concerned. I'm concerned about that spite though it sounds like it's spreading.
She's got to work out a lot of that's that's a common problem. She's
a tough lady. She's gonna live through it. I mean, it's one
thing to have it in your hands, but to have it naturally occurring in
most people. You've ever been behind the wheel and you're like ringing out the
neck of my my steering wheels right right, Malcolm Sauls is in the I
love you, Malcolm, Malcolm says big love for hands of spite. These
guys went from one of our favorite bands to some of our favorite people.
Love you, Malcolm, thanks for coming up my surprise birthday party. Oh
I love you guys. Oh very cool. It was Austin. It was
all Austin's fault. Was great yep, Malcolm says, love you guys.
Now, Malcolm sounds like someone with no spite, and he's no, no,
no, Malcolm is seems he seems very not He's not a person.
No, he no, he just hides it. Well, he's yeah,
yeah, you get it. You got that. It's just behind the eyes.
I'm the kind kind facade exactly. And Vicky Opine is in Texas and
is wondering if you're gonna go on tour and maybe go to Texas. If
you book us, we'll find we'll get there. Yeah. Yeah, just
tell us when to play wearing Yeah, that's kind of our motto. You
you book us, will show up right right. We're gonna put a thing
on our website that says minimum a grand and we'll play anywhere, really anywhere.
I'll take a free dinner whatever. Yeah, I'm just talking about usually
done free beer, and I'm in That's a long way to go for free
beer. But yeah, well you can get lone Star though, Oh,
lone Star and barbecue. I'm there. You do not know what I'm talking
about, Okay. Lone Star is a type of local Texas cool makes sense
a right, Vicky said, it's not my job. But I do get
it. But I guess given you a thousand dollars. Yeah, yeah,
well maybe you can play anyway. Maybe you can connect on Facebook and work
it out. Maybe hands By Band we're easy to find. There you go,
there you go, it's party. Yeah we should. We should make
sure people know too. Before we were almost out of time. Where to
find you online? How to keep up with everything that you're doing? Social
media, website, all of that. Yeah, it's just hands the Spy
Band pretty much everywhere, hands by band dot com, Instagram, Facebook,
all the all the usual suspects. I suppose on what Spotify and Apple Music
anywhere, everything that's right. We have a TikTok check us out. Oh
yeah, yeah, it's there's a picture of me punching coffee or a video
of me punch that's a good I do like that one. We should be
more active, but that's worth following. Oh yeah, we post weird stuff.
Well yeah six yeah, well it's mainly me having minor psychotic breakdowns and
Austin filming on his phone. So an actor of you into our practice.
Yeah yeah, why are you punching coffee? Uh uh? I was looking
at him? Funny, I think yeah, it had a face on it
and it was throwing me out and also SYNCD up with one of our songs.
Quite well, I see, all right, we make art in this
household, and it makes sense that you would punch it because you know,
hands of spite. Wow, that's why. That's why you're the commander,
overlord. I'm the I'm the I'm the commander to the Supreme Leader. Yes
or nothing at all? Yeah, so, uh, great to great to
have you guys in. We should probably I'm thinking we can end the show
with one more studio track if you guys want to pick something. Yeah,
it just has to not have any swears in it. Most most of your
songs don't. But but I didn't get a chance to listen to all of
them. Lips, No, don't do that one? Love her? Maybe
weird did love her? Oh yes, well we could play it again.
I mean it's no no, we got enough songs too, Yeah, we
have more than four songs. Doesn't really matter, Yeah yeah, yeah,
yeah, no, no, don't you I think that isn't that isn't that
doesn't that one have a swear? Yeah, because I was listening to him
earlier. It doesn't really matter. Has the effort. No, I I
slipped one out there. Oh no, uh talk a teal teal ah teal
tail it is that's in quit. Oh okay, I was gonna say,
why don't Why don't I see it? Okay, let me go to because
it's not fully formed yet in but back help me? All right? O,
come, I don't This is weird. Oh I view full playlist.
I see what I did wrong. Oh, actually, we have a call.
Let's grab the song quickly and then this is Shannon calling back. Hi,
Shannon, Shannon, get some calling back again. Pick a word and
improvise. Play play this song you want, but don't swear. Just say
something. Oh, we're we going to play one? Or I thought we
were going to play a recorded one. Yeah, we're just playing. We're
just playing a studio track. Shannon closer show you look up with songs without
without swears, right right. We just don't remember what our lyrics are.
Yeah, that's the problem. Remember one's going to be slipped in there.
So I mean we can curse for you, Shannon, but not on the
air. Pick a word to empprise with. Yeah, sure we do that.
Actually, when we're practicing, slip random other words of different. All
right, but please testify see see Shannon. Thanks for calling in. Now,
would you like me? You did say you can swear for her,
just not on the air. Do you do? You want her number?
You can call her? We mess It's like and these are all the swear
words. I know. I wrote them down just for this. I mean,
you know I've accumulated over my twenty years. You got to give the
people what they want now. A couple of people in the chat room said
lips Adam Jos, No, no, no, don't those guys know the
songs, but they like that song. I Got You. It's a great
song. You should go listen to it. Not yeah here I got you,
I got you. I think tel Teil. I think it's safe,
okay, right yeah? Is there any next to it? I don't think
so. What do you mean is there any I don't think so. I
was looking it up. Yeah, I think tell is safe. All right,
all right, so we will close with this, guys, thank you
again so much. This has been amazing. Thank you for having it.
Thank and if you missed any part of today's show it we'll be up in
just a little bit at w m H Radio dot org and on my website.
