I've had this happen where someone will be like, well, you know I was on the show like ten years ago, and I'm like, oh wow, it's hard to keep track. But no, I love the new song, thank you. That just now that's on all the streaming platforms and everything now.

6:32 Speaker 6: Excellent, excellent, Well congratulations on that. Now, you guys are just you're just releasing singles at this point, right, there's not an album.

6:39 Speaker 7: Or an EP yet, just over a year old.

6:41 Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, it is a it is kind.

6:43 Speaker 11: Of a new project, right, most people are doing it at this point. So yeah, that's where we're at.

6:47 Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, what do you like do you think you're going to do?

6:50 Speaker 7: Do an EP?

6:50 Speaker 6: Or an album eventually.

6:52 Speaker 7: Yeah.

6:52 Speaker 12: Yeah, we're working on plans now for a full album and probably by I staid by the end of twenty twenty six, oh something.

6:58 Speaker 6: Oh okay, excellent, excellent. Nowhere where do you guys record? Because everything sounds really good, but there's so many different ways to do it.

7:05 Speaker 7: Now.

7:05 Speaker 6: You can go to a studio, you can do it at home. You can what's the approach that you guys take for recording different at home?

7:11 Speaker 7: Right?

7:12 Speaker 10: Yeah, everything's been done at home, like we we took a couple of different approaches. We tried some electronic kits on the first couple of singles, and on this batch with Toma May Concern and the next single that's coming out after it. We use the live drums. But everything's just basically, I bring my laptop to a space, we set up mics or whatever and just do it to it. It's all home home brewed.

7:29 Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, no, it's great. That's great. You did it with that way with all three You've got three total now, right, three songs that you totally you've you've recorded, Yeah, yep. And how did so how did this come about? How did down Boys? I mean, obviously you know two of you guys play together in another band. But how did how did this start?

7:45 Speaker 7: I think I put this thing together.

7:49 Speaker 11: Band with those two guys, with Bruce and John. Yeah, eventually he was going to be the singer and and the band just dissolved right after that. Yeah, really work out.

8:01 Speaker 7: I joined a lot of bands.

8:02 Speaker 11: When I joined a lot of bands, is I never really liked the band, but I always find somebody or two right. It's just like, oh man, I got to get these two guys numbers right right, And it was pretty much all three of these guys. And when the band dissolved, I says, we get all do our own thing. Yeah, do originals. That was more of a cover of thing. Yeah, yeah, with it was kind of fifty to fifty. I think when I joined it it was mostly covers though.

8:27 Speaker 11: Yeah, So I just found these guys. I thought, you know, very cute, but I mean they know they know how to play all right.

8:37 Speaker 7: There was no competition. It was nice.

8:39 Speaker 6: Yeah, oh excellent. Did you guys play out a lot? Are you playing a lot of shows? It looks like you're right, Yeah, we've had a lot of shows.

8:50 Speaker 10: In this past year, and we've got a lot coming up for twenty twenty six. So yeah, we found ourselves surprisingly busy.

8:56 Speaker 6: Yeah, no, that's great, that's great. Is it hard to juggle this with you know? Are you guys? Also? Do you have other projects also outside of this or.

9:04 Speaker 9: I have a total of three myself do Yeah?

9:06 Speaker 6: What else you have?

9:07 Speaker 7: So?

9:07 Speaker 12: I actually can't say anything yet, so unfortunately, Oh, there's things in the works.

9:12 Speaker 9: Asked to keep it down low until it's time to announce it.

9:16 Speaker 9: This is my main priority, but I'm involved in two other projects.

9:19 Speaker 6: Oh, excellent, excellent. What about you, Jason?

9:21 Speaker 8: Yeah, I have an acoustic duo, soul Shine, and we play out once a month. Nice kind of not anywhere where it would overlap with you know what we're doing now heatistically or anything like that. But yeah, stay active, been in and out of bands and in the scene for you know, the better part of a couple of decades. So yeah, I was happy to get the call and yeah and sit here and I think the work speaks for itself, and yeah, I think we're doing great. Absolutely wanted to add to the tour thing that was going on.

9:48 Speaker 8: You said, we're playing out. We're hitting like almost every state in New England in the next like four months.

9:53 Speaker 4: Good.

9:54 Speaker 6: Yeah, it's pretty cool, excellent. Do you guys have a favorite place that you've played? Is there is there something that stands out or anywhere in Manchester brilliant?

10:02 Speaker 11: I don't play place called Charlie. Still it's a great venue, especially for new new bands, and yeah, yeah, really good to us, And uh yeah, I think I do like it that.

10:13 Speaker 10: I love Charlie too. Yeah, it's great sound, you know, it's like you said, great people, So it's that's probably been my favorite venue. We've played there a lot, so uh yeah.

10:21 Speaker 7: They gave us a chance, and uh, I don't know, it just took off from there.

10:25 Speaker 11: They really liked us, and then we started getting other gigs and then they started calling us.

10:29 Speaker 7: Yeah, call them first. Yeah, and they've been calling us ever since.

10:32 Speaker 6: He's going to be coming on Mike Hill. He's gonna be He's gonna be on the show. So great, very soon, I think, yeah, yeah, yeah, because that's a venue that comes up a lot on the show. Everybody loves Charlie Soul. Jenny and I haven't been there yet, but that's worth the trip everything. Everything we hear about it amazing.

10:59 Speaker 6: Yeah yeah, absolutely absolutely. All right, So where does the name come from? If it's is it is the origin story of the name radio friendly or yeah? Okay, well it depends when you ask.

11:11 Speaker 11: I mean, honestly, I don't even know. Any think we do the down Boys song, So I don't know. It just sounded cool, Yeah, sound cool. I think Jason is the one who ended up with that. We all had a bunch of names here there.

11:23 Speaker 7: We kind of all agreed on him. He's the biggest guy in the band.

11:26 Speaker 6: Right right, he gets his way.

11:28 Speaker 7: Yeah, we all kind of didn't hate it. We got the down Boys. Yeah.

11:35 Speaker 8: I don't know if we want to reveal the origin story yet. Yeah, no, no, no, there's a bunch of theories out there. I kind of want to let it, let everybody, let everybody figure out. Yeah, all right, Larry's got two shepherds and we practice it at his place, so you know, he always says down Boys to his dogs.

11:51 Speaker 6: Okay, that could be it could be one could be one Okay, Okay.

11:57 Speaker 8: It could just be that it sounds like, you know, we're down for anything or yeah, you know in the eighties and the Warrant song and then cool cool guys, right, yeah, sure, got down sort of.

12:09 Speaker 6: You see you see that video and it's like, I don't know how cool they are, but you know what I mean the choreography and difference. Yeah, oh I thought that I actually like Warrant. I'm not even knocking the band, but I remember the first time I saw the video for Down Boys and they're they're all on their knees moving in Unison, and I was like, this is a little uh yeah, no choreography insurance isn't good enough. Yeah,

12:36 Speaker 6: and it's just to be clear, it's down Boys. It's not the down Boys. Down Boys, just down Boys. Very good, very good. And then so like this this song just came out, you're already working on the next one, because you guys probably have you know, you're all creative guys, you probably have a lot of ideas.

12:51 Speaker 11: We've got a bunch of already done, so we're working on recording them, not so much of working on the song. So yeah, yeah, little tweaks here and there for the recordings Yeah, comedies and stuff like that, which have really really took off.

13:05 Speaker 7: I think the comedies in the standard great.

13:07 Speaker 12: Yeah, yeah, we've actually already got our next single, Spirits Disappear, slated to come out in January.

13:12 Speaker 9: Oh wonder this one gets some time to breathe and get out there outstanding.

13:16 Speaker 12: Try to be a little bit ahead of the game and try to do maybe every thirty forty five days we'll put something new out.

13:21 Speaker 7: Yeah.

13:22 Speaker 6: It's hard to know, right, I mean, it's hard to know how how soon is too soon or you know, or too long or it's exactly.

13:28 Speaker 7: Yeah, you we're at a good pace. We got seven seven now, I think we got seven originals.

13:32 Speaker 11: Yeah, basically we wrote seven originals and then we instead of gotting to ten or twelve, let's let's go back and start recording when piece work.

13:45 Speaker 7: You know, we ask people which onesda they want to hear first? You know what I mean?

13:48 Speaker 11: Yeah, which one do you think? And these were some of these were voted, right, I mean yeah, yeah, this.

13:54 Speaker 10: To whom we concern. It seems like when we played this this song live, for some reason, a lot of people resonate with to whom and make concern.

14:01 Speaker 7: Almost everybody actually, Yeah.

14:03 Speaker 10: It's funny though, like depending on who comes up to you, like, someone will have a different song that they like of our so it's like, oh I rel like this one, and then another persons like, oh I really like this one. But honestly, kind of the consensus has been to whom I make concern has been a pretty a.

14:14 Speaker 11: Lot of melodies and there's still a lot of rock and roll guitar. You know, the drums are strong but not crazy. You know, it's not Metallica by any means, but isn't boring.

14:23 Speaker 7: I don't know, I love it.

14:25 Speaker 6: Yeah, this is great, great track.

14:28 Speaker 11: Everybody's writing melodies anymore. Everybody's just like I know the places we've everybody's screaming, Rellian just screaming. Everything's drum solos, everything solo, solo solo.

14:38 Speaker 7: Yeah, it's really hard to understand the music, although you know the talent is that wow, those probably are those and changes.

14:45 Speaker 11: Were insane and that's great sometimes, but sometimes you have the audience and you just want to understand the song to be able to dance to it and sing to it and right right I love rock and roll by Jones. Jet wasn't the hottest song in the world, but I mean, once you hear it, you're singing it.

14:59 Speaker 6: That's absolutely true. Yeah, yeah, I agree. I agree.

15:02 Speaker 8: The creativity in this band is off the charts. Like Uncharted, our very last practice, we wrote two more really that were there were pretty much skeletons that are gonna that are gonna be built off of and things like that. It's just like an unending conveyor belt of things that were jamming out writing recording.

15:20 Speaker 7: Yeah.

15:20 Speaker 8: So I wouldn't expect us to stop anytime.

15:23 Speaker 6: So yeah, yeah, excellent, excellent, Well we should play another one?

15:27 Speaker 6: What should we uh? Which one should we play next? And then we'll we'll one of them will leave for the end of the show, I mean the end of the segment obviously, But which one should we play with now?

19:10 Speaker 6: It is That is my kind of animal. The band is Down Boys, and we've got the guys from Down Boys here in the studio with us. And uh, that's a great track. We you know you heard it here first we played that when that first came out, and love it and now what what's what's that one?

19:24 Speaker 6: Like, uh, is one of you a veterinarian or what what's that song?

19:29 Speaker 12: So that one was actually born out of a jam session up at Jason's place, either Bruce and I started playing the riff. You know, we just kind of locked onto it and said, all right, yeah, you know I I kind of feel like it has kind of early Aerosmith kind of. But one of these guys came up with the idea, why don't we just take a few examples of some personal adult history.

20:00 Speaker 9: But that one came about pretty easily out of the gym.

20:03 Speaker 6: Yeah yeah, is that? Is that how most of these happened? Because that's what these songs feel like.

20:07 Speaker 7: They feel like some of them are that way, some of them.

20:10 Speaker 11: These guys have these all three of these guys. Because I'm the drummer, I don't have much, but I have a lot to say. Guys either bring stuff to the table, or just before a break, he starts doing something.

20:25 Speaker 7: I just can't help but put a beat to it.

20:27 Speaker 6: Yeah, he has his.

20:28 Speaker 7: Bass down, he's picking it back up, and then we don't take a break. We end up just like jam it to something.

20:33 Speaker 11: He comes up some kind of words, We record it, and then next time we come in and go because if he records it, like well, I'll remember what we did because if you don't, you don't even remember something when you're jamming, you know, you having fun.

20:45 Speaker 7: He puts words to it before you know what their songs.

20:47 Speaker 11: Yeah, not all of them, but I think a few of this way, even like our genres, I think they're all different, some of them. You know, you might be like I kind to hear a little of this band and that, sure, but not in all of every one of them. We might hear something different, you know what I mean. Yeah, I do not have to sound like somebody today, you know what I mean.

21:09 Speaker 6: Do you guys have any like, is there anybody else in the scene you kind of you know what happens organically, you've kind of sort of teamed up with like for shows like that you Is there anybody who play a lot of shows.

21:35 Speaker 11: Yeah, yeah, great guy, absolutely, Yeah, I mean we've played with everyone, Lone Wolf, James, I know, it's been down Anthony from Perching Sin nice.

21:45 Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, excellent, very vibrant scene. Yeah, absolutely, absolutely, no, it is incredible. You know, sometimes people will ask, like, you know, Jenny does a book, and people will ask, you know, where do you find all this talent to come on the show. It's like, well, it's everywhere.

22:00 Speaker 11: Collectively, we all played everywhere. Yeah, he was covering for Exception for a while, great great metal band. And this guy's doing all our recording now yeah. Yeah, this guy's writing lyrics. Well, those are all really hot at work, and I just gap for them to put it together.

22:15 Speaker 6: Yeah yeah, I'll tell you where to show up. You guys, do any if you made any music videos or anything for any of these songs?

22:26 Speaker 9: Not yet, we have that in the works year too.

22:28 Speaker 6: Yeah yeah, because you guys are all you're you're very photogenics.

22:33 Speaker 7: That's true. Yeah, I do have a face for reading. I look like Alice Cooper a little. So yeah you think that's cute.

22:42 Speaker 6: But I say the pictures of you, you know, because most bands, you know, they just you know, kind of stand there, just look at the camera, you know, But you guys are you're very animated in your pictures.

22:51 Speaker 7: So you know, but it's an animated picture.

22:56 Speaker 6: Well there you go. Somebody, somebody drew it and it looks.

22:58 Speaker 7: Like one of them. I'm just kiping type.

23:04 Speaker 6: No, but I can just I can imagine. I can imagine you guys do it. But but there is something you might do as far as the video. Yeah, in the words, yeah, yeah.

23:11 Speaker 10: I can't see why not. I mean, I think that any video presence is kind of important for any band nowadays, Like a lot of people use Instagram or Snapchat or whatever and just getting stuff out there, even if it's not like a full fledged video. But I do think it would be cool to do a full video. I don't know what song we would do it for, but hell, it's doing for all of them.

23:26 Speaker 7: I don't really care.

23:27 Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, yeah, it really is important. It's funny because like a lot of people who don't know, who don't pay attention, think that music videos are dead, like because they people have a perception that you know, once MTV, you know, stop playing videos effectively more than more than twenty years ago now, and VH one probably did as well, that you know that that the art form of the music video is dead. And what what people don't realize is it's actually I think more important than ever because of YouTube, you know, and what major artists who have, like, you know, a gazillion dollars will actually put out.

23:59 Speaker 6: I think I think Metallica did it, Beyonce has done it where they'll were released an album and literally for every single song on the album there's a video, a fully produced, high budget video, and it's you know, it just goes on social media and of course, but it helps fuel the you know, the algorithms and and and sell and sell the music and and it's really more more important than ever, I think. You know, I think you're right.

24:20 Speaker 9: I think it's just a different medium now.

24:22 Speaker 6: Yeah, exactly, it's it's changed. But but but a lot of these videos too, you know, the like the big budget ones. They look like something you might have seen in the you know, in the the heyday of MTV, you know. So yeah, people people like and it's easy, like you can even make you can do something very I've seen some really creative things that are actually very low budget but end up being really impactful, you know, as far as music videos. So yeah, there's really there's really no limit to what you can do with the technology now.

24:55 Speaker 7: It's not everything, right, that's right.

24:57 Speaker 11: And I could buy I could buy you the best guitar in the world, right, and this guy could play the cheapest one, probably better.

25:04 Speaker 6: Right, exactly, exactly. Now, what So what's kind of the future trajectory for you guys? Do you think, like, do you have do you have kind of a long term plan or get rich?

25:16 Speaker 7: You know?

25:16 Speaker 6: Yeah, at our day.

25:18 Speaker 9: Jobs, you know, I don't know if there's really a plan. We started this really just to have some fun.

25:22 Speaker 7: Yeah.

25:23 Speaker 12: Yeah, we were doing our thing, having a good time. We'll go up to Charlie's every couple of weeks and yeah, out of nowhere, it's just when are you guys playing again? When are you guys putting stuff out? When are you doing an album? We're like, oh, okay, now what do we do?

25:34 Speaker 9: So, I mean we have a few plans for like an album, maybe a video or two.

25:38 Speaker 12: We'll book some shows, but yeah, we're kind of just here for the ride. Let's see where it takes. Yeah.

25:42 Speaker 6: Yeah, it'll be as surprise as you Yeah. Yeah, that's exciting. I mean, you know, it's a good way to approach it, I think. Yeah, yeah, And when when is your next show? Like, do you guys have anything this weekend? Or when is oh tonight? Where are you playing tonight?

Yeah, we took our We were trying to figure out like, uh, we could just ask, but I would ruin the mystery the uh the giant Bad Burger truck that sits there. We were trying to figure out like does do the owners have special permission from the city to just park that there? Or do they just pay pay all the parking every single day or just pay the ten dollars parking ticket every day or whatever? Yeah, but I love that.
