18:53 Speaker 12: waiting Nabigail. It's interesting how it's kind of multi generational

19:01 Speaker 19: Yeah, it's crazy, man, the age range goes. Abby just

19:04 Speaker 19: turned she just turned twenty like last week.

19:08 Speaker 19: And the Yeah, and our other guitar player, Mia Key

19:12 Speaker 19: is actually sixty two. So it's kind of a mashup

19:17 Speaker 19: of a couple different groups of people. The drummer Heather

19:21 Speaker 19: and the bass player Laurie and myself. We're all forty

19:24 Speaker 19: nine fifty is. We went to high school together and

19:27 Speaker 19: did the local band scene back in It was right

19:31 Speaker 19: after Pantera kind of broke out of the area down

19:35 Speaker 19: here and the scene was pretty hopping and we played

19:39 Speaker 19: in bands together when we were younger, and then Corey

19:43 Speaker 19: the keyboard player. Believe it or not, Mike's daughter. She

19:46 Speaker 19: was actually a music student of mine, so she's in

19:50 Speaker 19: her thirties. But yeah, there's almost somebody in every decade

19:54 Speaker 19: in the band. But we all just kind of got

19:56 Speaker 19: together personally. I kind of sma different groups of people

20:01 Speaker 19: together from different walks of life. But and then Abbey

20:05 Speaker 19: we found on a musician's wanted that, and man, she

20:10 Speaker 19: just she just killed it from the beginning. We knew,

20:13 Speaker 19: we knew we wanted her. Whenever she sent us an

20:15 Speaker 19: audition video for sure.

20:18 Speaker 12: Wow, Yeah, that's yeah, that's an unusual Well, I don't know,

20:22 Speaker 12: maybe it's not that unusual a way for a band

20:23 Speaker 12: to start these days because of the Internet. It's changed

20:26 Speaker 12: everything from you know, when we were growing up, and

20:30 Speaker 12: you know, there was a time, you know, I'm old

20:32 Speaker 12: enough to remember when you'd go to a music store.

20:34 Speaker 12: You know, if you were putting together a band and

20:36 Speaker 12: you were looking for musicians. Maybe you don't know anybody.

20:38 Speaker 12: You know, you go to a music store and you

20:39 Speaker 12: look at the bulletin bard and see who's looking for

20:42 Speaker 12: You know, I'm a bass player, so I might go

20:43 Speaker 12: and look and see if somebody's looking for a bass

20:45 Speaker 12: player or something like that. But you know, the Internet

20:47 Speaker 12: has really kind of changed all of that, and you know,

20:49 Speaker 12: you almost have to wonder if a configuration like awaiting

20:52 Speaker 12: Abigail would even be possible pre Internet, but maybe maybe,

20:57 Speaker 12: maybe not, but it seems unlikely. So but I also

21:01 Speaker 12: think too the other observation I would make is I

21:02 Speaker 12: think the music that you're making has a timelessness to

21:06 Speaker 12: it that you know, it's not data to any particular period.

21:09 Speaker 12: I mean, you can hear you can hear influences from

21:11 Speaker 12: certain like you know, you can hear some nineties rock

21:14 Speaker 12: influences and stuff, but really there's a timelessness to it

21:18 Speaker 12: that I think anybody out of any age, of any

21:20 Speaker 12: generation could get into anyway. So it makes sense that

21:23 Speaker 12: that's what the combination of the people who are in

21:25 Speaker 12: this band, that that's what you'd be putting out something

21:27 Speaker 12: that really cannot I think, appeal to anybody.

21:31 Speaker 19: Well, that's that's a great side effect. We're not doing

21:35 Speaker 19: it on purpose, but that's a great something that goes

21:38 Speaker 19: along with that. We definitely listen to a lot of

21:40 Speaker 19: different stuff, you know, everything from we Heather and I

21:45 Speaker 19: of course have a metal background from more kids and

21:48 Speaker 19: stuff and we were playing those bars. But like you know,

21:51 Speaker 19: she listens to like Lady Gaga. Now, Madonna Abby comes

21:55 Speaker 19: from a pop background. This is really her first rock

21:59 Speaker 19: project of her. She has a lot of solo work

22:02 Speaker 19: that she's done that's pop and R and B. And

22:05 Speaker 19: you know, I would say that myself and we their

22:09 Speaker 19: guitar players really into Kiss, so excellent. Yeah, it's definitely

22:15 Speaker 19: definitely has the nineties player because that's kind of back

22:19 Speaker 19: when we were playing or whatever that's come back and

22:22 Speaker 19: then adding some modern soundscapes to it's kind of what

22:25 Speaker 19: we've been trying to do.

22:26 Speaker 12: Yeah, Now do you have plans to do an album,

22:29 Speaker 12: because to this point you just have singles, write a

22:31 Speaker 12: series of singles.

22:33 Speaker 19: Yeah, there's a four song EP out and it's on

22:36 Speaker 19: all streaming services. You mentioned those two tunes. There's another one,

22:41 Speaker 19: I Hate You, which is kind of a parody on

22:45 Speaker 19: mean girls high school type thing. That one's that one's

22:48 Speaker 19: gotten some traction too and then people please her. So

22:51 Speaker 19: that's a fourth song EP. We've already got another four tunes,

22:55 Speaker 19: so we're at least going to do another EP this year.

22:59 Speaker 19: The schedule is justin of which we're trying not to

23:01 Speaker 19: let it take over our lives, you know, because.

23:21 Speaker 12: little synchronicities that happened, but we had a band on

23:23 Speaker 12: the show called Waiting for Z and Z is the

23:27 Speaker 12: first initial of one of the members of the band, Xander.

23:29 Speaker 12: So I'm curious, where does awaiting Abigail? What does that

23:33 Speaker 12: name come from? Just you were waiting for a singer

23:35 Speaker 12: like Abigail or I'm just curious about the origin.

23:38 Speaker 13: Of the name.

23:40 Speaker 19: Yeah, it's it's really interesting. So actually, when we were

23:44 Speaker 19: looking for a name, we didn't have a name before

23:47 Speaker 19: we had her, and so we once she auditioned and

23:51 Speaker 19: we we knew that we wanted to move forward as

23:54 Speaker 19: a band. We wanted we wanted to feature her and

23:57 Speaker 19: wanted it to be about her, so we wanted her

23:59 Speaker 19: name in it. But you know, there's already a I

24:03 Speaker 19: think it's a Japanese death metal band actually called Abigail,

24:08 Speaker 19: So that was kind of off the table, and we

24:10 Speaker 19: just kind of were trying to figure out something that

24:13 Speaker 19: that that worked, and we were tossing stuff around and

24:16 Speaker 19: See was stuck to the wall and a Waiting Abigail

24:19 Speaker 19: kind of stuck. But the real interesting part of it

24:22 Speaker 19: is we probably three three rehearsals in or whatever right

24:27 Speaker 19: after we first met her. She didn't tell us right away.

24:29 Speaker 19: She's like, hey, by the way, I don't even know

24:32 Speaker 19: how it came up. She didn't say, by the way,

24:33 Speaker 19: but it came up. She said, my name is I'm

24:36 Speaker 19: actually named after a King Diamond's album Abigail. Why did

24:41 Speaker 19: you tell us before that? She's like, well, I don't know.

24:43 Speaker 19: My mom's a metal head, you know, and so she's

24:46 Speaker 19: named after that album. And Awaiting I don't know if

24:50 Speaker 19: it's funny because people are like always asking her like

24:53 Speaker 19: are you guys always waiting on her?

24:55 Speaker 7: Well?

24:56 Speaker 19: Yeah, but no, that just came more like it sounded good.

25:01 Speaker 19: It kind of jammed with it.

25:02 Speaker 12: That's why I wondered, because in Waiting for Z, the

25:04 Speaker 12: reason they called the band that is because apparently Xander

25:07 Speaker 12: is always late or he's always the last one to

25:09 Speaker 12: get there, so they're always waiting for Z. So I

25:11 Speaker 12: wondered if it was something where you know, you're always

25:14 Speaker 12: waiting for Abigail. No, but that's that's cool though. I

25:17 Speaker 12: think it's a great name. And I really like the

25:18 Speaker 12: logo too. Who did the logo? Is there somebody in

25:21 Speaker 12: the band who made that logo? Because that's a that's

25:23 Speaker 12: a badass logo.

25:29 Speaker 19: it's a our graphics guy is a Matt story who.

25:33 Speaker 19: I don't know if you've heard of Creeper. It's another

25:36 Speaker 19: local band. They're pretty big. They're pretty big and they've

25:40 Speaker 19: been at it for a long time. He was the

25:41 Speaker 19: original singer of Creeper. And so really what I did

25:45 Speaker 19: was I just threw it out on Facebook. I was like, hey,

25:47 Speaker 19: we've got a name. You know, it'd already been kind

25:50 Speaker 19: of networking with other people, you know, reconnecting with people

25:54 Speaker 19: from the past that I knew back in the day,

25:55 Speaker 19: meeting new people, and I just threw it up there

25:57 Speaker 19: and I was like, and everybody kind of knew like

26:00 Speaker 19: pigs band together or whatever. So I said, hey, logo services,

26:03 Speaker 19: and somebody popped right on there, and I mean there's

26:06 Speaker 19: probably twenty people on there, but I just put on

26:09 Speaker 19: the put them the first one that posted, which was Matt.

26:12 Speaker 19: So he's awesome. He does all our graphics, he does

26:14 Speaker 19: the EP, does the EP cover, the T shirts. Everything.
