Speaker 10: in just a moment. But welcome everybody. You have entered
Speaker 10: our number two Newmarrow dose of Matt Connorton Unleashed, and
Speaker 10: we are live from the studios of w m n H.
Speaker 10: Ninety five point three FM and Glorious Manchester, New Hampshire.
Speaker 10: Today is a Saturday, August thirtieth, twenty twenty five. Jenny
Speaker 10: is here, of course, at the news table, accounted for,
Speaker 10: and we've got the guys from Silent Season. Let me
Speaker 10: get these mics on here. Yeah, that is really good.
Speaker 10: That is really good. Welcome guys.
Speaker 1: Hey, Hi, So how's everyone doing?
Speaker 10: Good? Good? So what I think we should do? Let's uh,
Speaker 10: because all five of you are here, let's start in
Speaker 10: the corner and we're gonna have you each introduce yourselves
Speaker 10: to us. Who you are, what you do in the band,
Speaker 10: and anything else you want us to know, but mainly
Speaker 10: who you are and what you do in the band.
Speaker 10: We'll start over here.
Speaker 5: I am Jeremy and I'm the vocalist.
Speaker 10: Welcome Jeremy, thank you.
Speaker 11: I am Brendan.
Speaker 10: I play guitar. Welcome Brendan, right, Brendan or Brandon Brendan, Brendan. Okay.
Speaker 10: I'm Enzo and I do lead it to car Enzo. Welcome.
Speaker 6: I'm David and I play drums. Slash business magician.
Speaker 10: Oh, business magician, I like that all right.
Speaker 12: Welcome David, Thank you, and you sir, and I'm Joe
Speaker 12: and I pray to bees.
Speaker 10: All right, welcome Joe. So yeah, and I'm glad that
Speaker 10: you're all here. You know, sometimes not everyone you have
Speaker 10: a five V span, there's usually at least one person
Speaker 10: who doesn't make it right. So it's cool you're all here.
Speaker 10: So we should let's start with this because it was
Speaker 10: just announced. So you're now the co headliners on Swarmyfest,
Speaker 10: right with Sepsis. Yeah, coming up in November. That's pretty cool.
Speaker 6: Yes, very excited about that. We can't wait to play
Speaker 6: that show on November fifteenth. And we've been friends with
Speaker 6: Sepsist for a while and it's it's exciting to finally
Speaker 6: be able to play with those guys up here and
Speaker 6: gals in Manchester.
Speaker 10: Yeah, at Jewel November fifteenth. And so how did that?
Speaker 10: How did that come about? How did that was that?
Speaker 10: You're the you're the business magician, right, yes, so did
Speaker 10: are you the one who made that happen? Or how
Speaker 10: did that come about?
Speaker 6: It was actually a great question, Matt. It was a
Speaker 6: collaborative effort between Joe and I. Joe knows the promoter
Speaker 6: and most of the folks in Sepsis, so we got together.
Speaker 6: We had a good conversation with Will and their team
Speaker 6: and also the promoter Allowed Entertainment, and they said, hey,
Speaker 6: let's let's do something. We want you guys to play
Speaker 6: the show. It's been a while and we're going to
Speaker 6: rock it and it's just history from there. So we're
Speaker 6: ready to go and we hope to see everyone at
Speaker 6: that show. It's going to be great.
Speaker 10: Rhythm section makes it happen, right, it's right, right, Joe.
Speaker 10: I'm a bass player, so I you know, so I
Speaker 10: appreciate you. So you guys have been this band, Silent
Speaker 10: Season has been around since what two thousand and eight?
Speaker 10: Is that correct?
Speaker 13: Eight?
Speaker 10: Okay, okay, I was commenting off air. You know how
Speaker 10: impressive that is to me because it's not you know,
Speaker 10: you don't see a ton of longevity in the in
Speaker 10: the music business. But I assume the lineup has changed
Speaker 10: over the years, right, somewhat right for your time?
Speaker 1: Who are so?
Speaker 10: Who are the original members? You guys have been here
Speaker 10: since the beginning, yeah, and then and then everyone else,
Speaker 10: so everyone else has changed. So what So I'm curious,
Speaker 10: So what is it that because a lot of times
Speaker 10: when there's lineup changes, especially over the course of So
Speaker 10: I'm not good at math.
Speaker 12: What is that?
Speaker 10: How many years is almost a wow, it's a lot
Speaker 10: of years.
Speaker 12: Yeah, yeah, I.
Speaker 10: Mean what is it that's driven you to keep this
Speaker 10: thing going?
Speaker 13: Like?
Speaker 10: How do you how do you keep or maybe you've
Speaker 10: taken breaks along the way with the band? I don't know,
Speaker 10: but but what is it that keeps Silent Season going
Speaker 10: after all this time?
Speaker 14: I think it's the music. I think it's the fans
Speaker 14: who have supported us over the years.
Speaker 10: Yeah.
Speaker 5: I think it's the drive.
Speaker 14: You know, if you have all of those ingredients, I
Speaker 14: think it just leads to, you know, wanting to continue
Speaker 14: no matter what happens.
Speaker 10: Yeah, it's so fun. Yeah yeah, yeah. So I'm curious
Speaker 10: between the two of you, Jeremy and Brendan. Yes, I'm assume.
Speaker 10: I assume. I mean, has there ever been when you've
Speaker 10: got to change members? Because you know, I've been in
Speaker 10: a lot of bands, and I know people come and
Speaker 10: people go. I was in a band a long time
Speaker 10: ago called My Life Crisis, and I was the only like,
Speaker 10: there were so many changes over the years, but I
Speaker 10: was the only original member. I was the only one
Speaker 10: who was in every single lineup of that band, and
Speaker 10: it was hard, you know, always keep it going. You
Speaker 10: know people you know, Sepsist has gone through that too.
Speaker 10: You know they've had a lot of jeez, Jenny, do
Speaker 10: you remember that that night that you were online and
Speaker 10: you saw like they'd lost Will and Melissa, like like
Speaker 10: everybody left and they had to replace everybody, like when
Speaker 10: one fell swoop end it did. It all worked out.
Speaker 10: But but but that's one of the challenges.
Speaker 7: Right with the band change.
Speaker 14: And now you look at modern like these days, everybody's
Speaker 14: suing everybody else.
Speaker 10: Oh yeah, yeah, when you.
Speaker 6: Look at like old school rockers, right guys we all
Speaker 6: grew up with, and like now they're.
Speaker 7: All sewing each other.
Speaker 10: Oh yeah, it's so great to see people stay together
Speaker 10: and play and continue the music. Yeah, in a positive way, right, yeah.
Speaker 10: But I'm curious between the two of you, at any point,
Speaker 10: has there ever been a discussion about, I don't know,
Speaker 10: do we want to keep doing this or or have
Speaker 10: you guys always been on the same page or I
Speaker 10: mean I think that.
Speaker 5: For the most part we've been on the same page.
Speaker 14: There's been you know, a question of like, you know,
Speaker 14: if it is worth doing and I think we always
Speaker 14: come back to the same answer that it is because
Speaker 14: we just love what we do. And yeah, I mean
Speaker 14: it's just important to us. It's kind of like our
Speaker 14: baby at the end of the day, you know, right right.
Speaker 10: Plus you know you've had some success, you've gotten some
Speaker 10: some radio play. I was, I was, you know, as
Speaker 10: I was reading about you guys, and it's like, you know,
Speaker 10: so you build up a name, it's like you don't
Speaker 10: want to just let all that go right, just just
Speaker 10: because you know somebody has to go or so now,
Speaker 10: so how long? So endz? So how long have you
Speaker 10: been in the band? About two years? Two years? Okay?
Speaker 10: Are you the new are you the new guy? Are
Speaker 10: you the newest member. I'm not the newest member. That's
Speaker 10: actually Joe. Joe's the newist. Okay, all right? And then
Speaker 10: so and David, how long have you been in the band?
Speaker 6: So? I actually I started the band with Jeremy back
Speaker 6: in two thousand and eight. Oh okay, and then Brendan
Speaker 6: came along shortly thereafter. And then as as Jeremy mentioned.
Speaker 10: Oh so you're an original member too, yeah, okay, so
Speaker 10: the three of you okay, gotcha? Okay?
Speaker 6: And then you know, I remember lineup changes, you know,
Speaker 6: like every band typically goes through. Yes, we discussed, but
Speaker 6: then Enzo and Joe came into the fold, and you know,
Speaker 6: it works out. It's clicking really well, and we're very
Speaker 6: excited about the future of Silent Season.
Speaker 10: Yeah. So where does the name come from? The obvious question,
Speaker 10: because it's a cool name.
Speaker 6: So I was listening to a breaking Benjamin song. I
Speaker 6: believe it was called Sign of Season. Okay, but but
Speaker 6: I said to myself, hey, why don't we say something
Speaker 6: about Silent Season Because the time we started the band,
Speaker 6: there were a lot of venues closing, and there were
Speaker 6: a lot of negative things happening in the music industry
Speaker 6: with you know, just coming off the whole Napster thing
Speaker 6: and digital downloading, and there was just a mix of
Speaker 6: like a lot of crazy things happening. So we said,
Speaker 6: why don't we try to come out with a positive
Speaker 6: message and you know, just say, hey, how can we
Speaker 6: overcome this, and especially in the rock genre, like how
Speaker 6: can we get everything back to a good spot and
Speaker 6: try to help influence the scene.
Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah, now that's cool.
Speaker 5: I like that.
Speaker 10: I like that it came from a good you know,
Speaker 10: a good positive perspective, and yeah, I yeah, two thousand
Speaker 10: and eight. I'm trying to think of, like what was
Speaker 10: what was happening? So yeah, I guess I was kind
Speaker 10: of just right after yeah, not too long, right after
Speaker 10: Napster or and everything, and there was such a transition happening.
Speaker 10: It's almost in my mind sometimes it's hard to pinpoint
Speaker 10: because you know, the the music business has gone through
Speaker 10: so many just you know, in the last you know,
Speaker 10: twenty years, so many changes, right, It's it's uh but
Speaker 10: you know, and not everyone can adapt to it, and
Speaker 10: you know, being able to adapt is is uh is
Speaker 10: so important. So when you so how long, like so
Speaker 10: the three of you guys started it together and then
Speaker 10: like did it come together pretty quickly when you all
Speaker 10: started working together or or did it take a while
Speaker 10: to get it off the ground or uh?
Speaker 14: Yeah, So I mean Dave and I had been in
Speaker 14: a previous band together before. Oh so we had chemistry
Speaker 14: as far as you know, knowing like you know, what
Speaker 14: musicals we had and all that.
Speaker 10: Kind of stuff that always helps.
Speaker 14: Yeah, yeah, yeah, and then you know, after we had
Speaker 14: Brendan come in and then another original member and Brendan's
Speaker 14: brother actually oh wow, that was our original lineup and
Speaker 14: uh yeah, no, after that. I mean we we were recording,
Speaker 14: we were playing out. I think one of our first
Speaker 14: shows was with tap Root, which was pretty cool.
Speaker 5: Nice at the time.
Speaker 14: So yeah, we we just were getting into it real fast.
Speaker 14: I think we had a couple connections and stuff which
Speaker 14: made it a little easier. But yeah, it wasn't It
Speaker 14: wasn't too hard at the time, I don't think.
Speaker 6: And Matt quick backstory there quickly when we came together.
Speaker 6: I have to say this on all the interviews, Jeremy
Speaker 6: and I formulated this band idea at a Wendy's over
Speaker 6: some fries at Frosty No kidding.
Speaker 10: Yeah, that's where all the great ideas start, that's right.
Speaker 7: And then so.
Speaker 10: The the songs that we're hearing today, Now, these are
Speaker 10: are these from over a period of time because he
Speaker 10: has a voviy you know, you've recorded a lot of music.
Speaker 10: I assume over over all these years. These aren't all
Speaker 10: from one album, correct or maybe I'm wrong about that.
Speaker 5: No, They're they're kind of spread out, spread out.
Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah, Now one was in Flames. Is that one
Speaker 10: of the more recent ones or is that?
Speaker 5: Yes, in Flames is are one of our newest ones
Speaker 5: that we've been pushing.
Speaker 10: Okay, yeah, great track, great track, thank you.
Speaker 12: Thank you.
Speaker 10: Has the process changed over the years as far as
Speaker 10: writing and recording, and I mean, obviously with different members,
Speaker 10: I assume a change is somewhat, But what about the
Speaker 10: overall approach.
Speaker 14: I think, like you were talking or you were talking
Speaker 14: about with the music industry, some things end up changing
Speaker 14: as far as uh, like technology and what you were
Speaker 14: able to do when we first started versus what we're
Speaker 14: able to do now.
Speaker 10: Mm hmm.
Speaker 14: Because when we first started, you know, we were all
Speaker 14: just in a basement and we were just writing there
Speaker 14: and like recording off of this awful computer that we had. Yeah,
Speaker 14: and and or just like a tape or something like that. Yeah,
Speaker 14: really aging us at this point. But but you know,
Speaker 14: now we have all this technology and you can just
Speaker 14: like record anything, you know, at the palm of your hands,
Speaker 14: you know. Yeah, you have computers that can do professional
Speaker 14: recordings and stuff like that. So oh yeah, we kind
Speaker 14: of get ideas, you know, based off of that. We
Speaker 14: also jam together. It's kind of a mixture of both
Speaker 14: at this point. But yeah, yeah, but it's cool because
Speaker 14: you know, you have all this stuff at your fingertips
Speaker 14: and yeah, It's just makes it a lot easier.
Speaker 10: It's an amazing time to be alive. Yes, I always
Speaker 10: say too with the pandemic, which I assume affected you guys,
Speaker 10: because it affected everybody, right, you know, it affected the
Speaker 10: music industry certainly. You know, it was a terrible experience collectively,
Speaker 10: but we got to find these silver linings where we can.
Speaker 10: And one of the silver linings of it is I
Speaker 10: think it really and this comes up all the time
Speaker 10: on the show, I think it really forced people to
Speaker 10: kind of think of a thing outside the box creatively
Speaker 10: of you know, well, how can we continue to make music?
Speaker 10: And and you know, the technology was already there as
Speaker 10: far as you know, we already had, you know, so
Speaker 10: for example, if you're recording and you're sending tracks back
Speaker 10: and forth, we already had things like Google Drive and
Speaker 10: Dropbox and everything. But I think the pandemic kind of
Speaker 10: forced people, some people who may have been a little
Speaker 10: bit technophobic and a little bit resistant to using that
Speaker 10: stuff to really embrace that and and you know, learn
Speaker 10: you know, what's going on in terms of technology, and
Speaker 10: how can I use that, because you know, if I don't,
Speaker 10: if I don't learn this stuff, now I'm kind of screwed.
Speaker 10: I know, I can tell you for myself, just as
Speaker 10: an aside. I also work as a hypnotherapist, and I'd
Speaker 10: always been really resistant to doing sessions online until, you know,
Speaker 10: till that was the only way to do them for
Speaker 10: a while, you know, so, But but yeah, that's that's
Speaker 10: one of those few silver linings about the pandemic. I
Speaker 10: think it kind of forced everyone forward in terms of
Speaker 10: technology and uh, you know, and a lot of people,
Speaker 10: a lot of people we've had on the show over
Speaker 10: the years too, have talked about how you know, They'll say,
Speaker 10: I didn't think I could you know, I could play,
Speaker 10: I could write, but I didn't think I could record.
Speaker 10: I didn't think I could engineer something. But I was
Speaker 10: forced to learn how to do it. And now I'm
Speaker 10: really glad I learned how to do it, you know,
Speaker 10: So knowledge is power. Why don't we play another track?
Speaker 10: I really I love all these songs, They're so good.
Speaker 10: Usually I leave it to the guests. I would like
Speaker 10: to be with your permission. I'd like to be a
Speaker 10: little bit selfish and play hopeless.
Speaker 5: Okay, also do it because this song.
Speaker 10: I love this song, and I like all of them,
Speaker 10: but this one really connected with me. I'm curious if
Speaker 10: there's a story behind this one or or anything anything
Speaker 10: we should know about it before we hear it.
Speaker 14: Yeah, I mean it was it was kind of written
Speaker 14: at a time where I was feeling really I mean hopeless.
Speaker 12: I was.
Speaker 14: I was not I was not in a good place.
Speaker 14: I didn't really know like where my life was going
Speaker 14: and know where, you know, what what was in the future.
Speaker 14: And and it's kind we kind of try to put
Speaker 14: a positive spin on all of our music and you know,
Speaker 14: make it so like you know, telling people they can
Speaker 14: get out of that, they can they can conquer, you know,
Speaker 14: whatever they're feeling or you know, all the negative stuff.
Speaker 5: Yeah, and you know, music is therapy for me in
Speaker 5: that sense.
Speaker 14: And that's that's how I got out of my hopeless
Speaker 14: kind of feeling, is by you know, writing that with
Speaker 14: the guys and yeah.
Speaker 5: And yeah, no, that's that's basically what it's about.
Speaker 10: Well that's the thing too, about you know, using music
Speaker 10: and creating art for therapy, because not only do I
Speaker 10: think it's the best therapy, right when you take anything
Speaker 10: that's bothering you or a trauma or anything and you
Speaker 10: create something out of it that is art. That's I
Speaker 10: think the best way to deal with it. But also
Speaker 10: with music as an example, it also ends up helping
Speaker 10: other people too, because then they can relate to it
Speaker 10: and you know, Okay, I feel this and that's you know,
Speaker 10: and then they connect to the song too, So you're
Speaker 10: you help yourself, but you also help other people too.
Speaker 10: And you know, you've probably had people tell you over
Speaker 10: the years that that's.
Speaker 14: One of the most rewarding things that you can have
Speaker 14: a fan tell you is that this this song helped
Speaker 14: me through this time.
Speaker 5: Yep, because I know that.
Speaker 14: You know, I went through a bunch of times when
Speaker 14: I was a kid and I listened to songs and
Speaker 14: they helped me through those.
Speaker 10: Yeah. Absolutely, Well, let's give this a spin. When was
Speaker 10: this recorded? Is this one of the newer ones?
Speaker 5: Or this is also one the newer one?
Speaker 10: Oh cool cool? I thought, so, okay, excellent. Uh, if
Speaker 10: you are just joining us, we have Silent Season here
Speaker 10: with us in studio and let's listen to this. This
Speaker 10: track is called Hopeless.
Speaker 1: Feels of Pressure calling JOm I'm feel safe behind every
Speaker 1: single day all the same.
Speaker 7: J Cham.
Speaker 1: Is Johnny Fault.
Speaker 7: From My.
Speaker 1: Chace Suits.
Speaker 7: Say Glass.
Speaker 1: And will know s go makes with saying.
Speaker 7: Glass, I'm better.
Speaker 1: Reading them no praise I.
Speaker 10: How I felt so sad.
Speaker 4: Answer, I'd say that I can't everything and I should change,
Speaker 4: should be So.
Speaker 1: That starts so raw. Nora's gonna saying.
Speaker 7: That. No.
Speaker 1: See letting in so sang show I see, I'll say, as.
Speaker 4: You well know, no, son, thank God, it's a big sens.
Speaker 1: I'm not a such with my inshie. So I don't
Speaker 1: know which way is still poor god, my eyes, my
Speaker 1: shot man.
Speaker 12: You were draw.
Speaker 1: You'll feel my God, you watch it actual walk.
Speaker 7: That's very good.
Speaker 1: Chat see let in s sange.
Speaker 15: I'll say, sure sound.
Speaker 10: Mm hmmm. I love that. That is hopeless. The band
Speaker 10: is Silent Season, and we've got Silent Season here with
Speaker 10: us alive in studio. Yeah, that's that's such a great track.
Speaker 10: I love that chorus. It's very very strong. Whoops, there
Speaker 10: we go and have all those mics on. It's very uh. Yeah,
Speaker 10: it's a great chorus. It's very catchy, lyrics are very inspiring.
Speaker 10: It's funny too because it kind of fools you, right
Speaker 10: because the song is called hopeless, but it's actually very hopeful.
Speaker 5: Yeah.
Speaker 10: So it's a little little twist there. That's that's nice.
Speaker 10: But no, I like that a lot. Yeah that that
Speaker 10: came out what last year? Was that what I was reading?
Speaker 12: Correct?
Speaker 10: Yeah, so it's been out for a little bit, but yeah, great,
Speaker 10: great track. I also want to mention too, Uh Sheila
Speaker 10: from paper Jam was she had messaged I think she
Speaker 10: had messaged. Did she message that about how you guys
Speaker 10: are one of her favorite bands? And she was so
Speaker 10: thrilled to be able to interview you on her birthday
Speaker 10: for paper Jam.
Speaker 5: Yeah?
Speaker 10: So yeah, so congratulations right now.
Speaker 6: Folks up there at paper Jam, we appreciate all their support.
Speaker 10: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, always send me the best artists.
Speaker 10: Oh yeah, yeah. We get a lot of guests from them,
Speaker 10: and uh, you know, every month we always look forward
Speaker 10: to getting paper Jam in the mail too. It's so
Speaker 10: cool that, you know, because too, that's quite an undertaking
Speaker 10: in the digital age, you know, to to say, Okay,
Speaker 10: we're gonna put out this magazine, you know what I mean.
Speaker 10: And I remember when we had them on the show.
Speaker 12: I I.
Speaker 10: I asked Sheila and Tony, I said, did anyone when
Speaker 10: you started payper Jam, did anyone try to talk you
Speaker 10: out of it? Did anyone say you know, do you
Speaker 10: really want to you know, in a time when you know,
Speaker 10: traditional publications have struggled and have been struggling for well
Speaker 10: probably twenty years with the rise of digital media, do
Speaker 10: you really want to do this? And they said no,
Speaker 10: No one really tried to, Like everyone was like super
Speaker 10: supportive and it worked out.
Speaker 7: So you know, that's great.
Speaker 10: They're having a lot of success with it.
Speaker 12: Yeah.
Speaker 6: Yeah, Joe introduced introduced us to paper Jam. He was
Speaker 6: very connected to them before.
Speaker 10: So oh cool.
Speaker 6: Every thankful for that connection as well.
Speaker 10: Yeah. Yeah. Being able to hold something in your hands
Speaker 10: and look at it. Oh yeah, love that.
Speaker 1: Oh yeah, computer screen just doesn't do.
Speaker 10: It right, right. Yeah, No, it's very very cool, very cool.
Speaker 10: Have you guys been obviously, you know, we talked about
Speaker 10: Swarmyfest coming up in November. Are you guys playing a
Speaker 10: lot of shows generally? Are you doing a lot of
Speaker 10: what's the live situation?
Speaker 9: Like?
Speaker 6: Yeah, as of late, we've been playing a lot of
Speaker 6: great shows over the New England base and area. We
Speaker 6: just opened up for the Word Alive at Brighton Music
Speaker 6: Hall a couple of weeks ago. It's just amazing. We
Speaker 6: also jammed with Keith Wallen of Breaking Benjamin at the
Speaker 6: Pladium in Worcester, Okay. That was an amazing show and Lakeview, Lakeview,
Speaker 6: shout out to those guys. They added us to a
Speaker 6: couple of their shows and we have more planned coming up.
Speaker 6: We'll be announcing some of the other shows, you know
Speaker 6: where we're We're not going to fall off. We're going
Speaker 6: to keep going hard. Yeah, and we appreciate everyone coming
Speaker 6: to these shows and giving us the support. And you know,
Speaker 6: we like to call the fans our friends. We look
Speaker 6: at them as our friends, you know, and they're helping us.
Speaker 6: They're getting the word out their paper, Jam and everyone across.
Speaker 6: So let's keep it going and let's keep the train moving.
Speaker 10: When you when you play live, do you play songs
Speaker 10: that span, you know, the entire history of the band
Speaker 10: or how does that work? Because like we've talked about,
Speaker 10: you guys have been around a while. You got a
Speaker 10: lot of music, right.
Speaker 11: We try to get the ones that like the singles
Speaker 11: like Chance was the same from Breaking then Breaking Breaking
Speaker 11: Me Down, Breaking Benjamin, Yeah, and then with the couple
Speaker 11: from the War Within and the definitely the newest ones
Speaker 11: we definitely try to fit in there as well.
Speaker 10: Yeah, Yeah, how many albums do you have as a band,
Speaker 10: or or albums.
Speaker 14: And EPs or we have one full album, we have
Speaker 14: one e P and then we have a bunch of singles.
Speaker 10: Okay, okay.
Speaker 6: And you were saying earlier, Matt, about the time of COVID,
Speaker 6: we really sort of changed our stance, you know, with
Speaker 6: a lot of bands, Like we saw bands like spirit
Speaker 6: Box and releasing singles. You know, it became a little
Speaker 6: bit more like get the content out quicker and you know,
Speaker 6: keep the base engage. So we decided to do more singles.
Speaker 6: And but we're you know, we're you know, that's not
Speaker 6: going to stop us. I should say, we're we're thinking
Speaker 6: about you know, EPs and you know, get a collection
Speaker 6: of our art out there, you know, so we're I
Speaker 6: guess it just really depends on the mood and what's
Speaker 6: going on out there, because we don't we also, you know,
Speaker 6: we want to be able to deliver what the fan,
Speaker 6: the friends and want from Silent Season.
Speaker 10: That's another thing that's changed too, is so many different
Speaker 10: ways to release music now. You know, when I was
Speaker 10: growing up, it was, you know, you've got an album
Speaker 10: and then you've got a series of singles. If you're lucky,
Speaker 10: you have a series of singles, or maybe you only
Speaker 10: have one. You know, it depends. But now it's like
Speaker 10: a lot of artists do the inverse of that. They
Speaker 10: release a series of singles that eventually coalesce into an
Speaker 10: album or you know, or maybe they put out I
Speaker 10: forget who it was. Recently we had on the show.
Speaker 10: There was somebody who, oh is Jesse Rutstein. He's got
Speaker 10: an EP, but that EP is going to become part
Speaker 10: of a larger album.
Speaker 12: You know.
Speaker 10: It's so there's so many different ways to do it now.
Speaker 10: And but I think the key, as you know you
Speaker 10: alluded to David, is because youve got to feed that algorithm, right,
Speaker 10: you gotta. So you gotta somehow even if you're even
Speaker 10: if you're only doing albums, because some some artists are
Speaker 10: stubborn and they will only do albums. But then it's
Speaker 10: like when you do an album and you release that album,
Speaker 10: so you've got that one shot to make a big splash,
Speaker 10: which is very difficult, uh in the digital age that
Speaker 10: we live in. So you know, so you got to
Speaker 10: you got to figure out ways to stay engaged with
Speaker 10: your audience so they don't forget about you.
Speaker 6: You know, Social media, engagement content. You know, we're being
Speaker 6: in a band today. It's like you know, we're we're
Speaker 6: creating art, but we're also becoming influencers in a way.
Speaker 10: Yeah right, Oh yeah, yeah, I mean that's kind of
Speaker 10: how I think of it. Everyone's an influencer now and
Speaker 10: some people don't like that term, but but but I
Speaker 10: mean it. Yeah, yeah, everyone's an influencer. Everyone's a brand.
Speaker 10: You got to kind of embrace that, you know, it's
Speaker 10: it's it's uh, if you want to have a long
Speaker 10: Like I said, you know a lot of bands don't
Speaker 10: have the kind of longevity you guys have. But if
Speaker 10: you want to have that longevity, you know, you gotta
Speaker 10: you gotta embrace everything that you gotta do to you know,
Speaker 10: to to stay in front of your fans and continue
Speaker 10: to grow that fan base. And so you guys are
Speaker 10: you have the right attitude. You're clearly on a on
Speaker 10: a good path. So that's great. I noticed too, you've
Speaker 10: you've had some airplay on is it Octane on?
Speaker 7: Yeah?
Speaker 10: Yeah, that's really cool too.
Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, there will a shout out to those guys.
Speaker 6: We appreciate their support. And but you know, we we've
Speaker 6: done uh, we've done a lot of campaigns, like you
Speaker 6: were saying earlier, with radio is again I draw back
Speaker 6: to COVID. I mean trying to be creative during a
Speaker 6: time where we couldn't play out a lot, and you know,
Speaker 6: we released some music, but it was trying to stay
Speaker 6: fresh out there? How can we stay fresh? And that
Speaker 6: was really Radio is a strong medium, you know, as
Speaker 6: a way to get our music out there, along with
Speaker 6: social media. So it really worked out well for us
Speaker 6: in that regards.
Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah, one hundred. Why don't we play another track?
Speaker 10: What do you have now? This time? I will not
Speaker 10: be selfish. You guys can pick what what should we
Speaker 10: play next?
Speaker 6: And Zo Joe you want to pick one?
Speaker 10: Oh yeah, let's do.
Speaker 6: Let's do and so and Joe will pick one. Okay, Oh,
Speaker 6: there's wounds and stars. I think we went to the
Speaker 6: stars before wounds and chants.
Speaker 10: I don't have stars in front of me for some reason.
Speaker 1: Okay, although I thought I thought.
Speaker 10: You did send that though, but for some Oh no,
Speaker 10: I do see it. I'm sorry, I'm just wounds in chance.
Speaker 6: I think those are still but but.
Speaker 10: I do I do have stars also, Yeah, I don't
Speaker 10: know why I don't.
Speaker 12: We'll go we'll go wounds.
Speaker 10: You want to go with wounds? Okay, the right word.
Speaker 12: We'll keep it going, all right, cool?
Speaker 10: Anything we should know about this before we play it?
Speaker 10: There is a story or uh.
Speaker 14: Oh yeah, no, I mean I I feel like a
Speaker 14: lot of a lot of stuff around this time was
Speaker 14: just generally about anxiety and and how to get over it.
Speaker 14: Also keeping that positive vibe you know, with you know,
Speaker 14: not just being like you know, poor me or whatever,
Speaker 14: but like hey, like you know, you get over this whatever.
Speaker 14: So yeah, no, it was kind of along the same lines.
Speaker 10: Okay, all right, I like it. All right, let's give
Speaker 10: this a spin. This is Wounds and the band is
Speaker 10: Silent Season.
Speaker 3: It's a short busted load in the talk roll the
Speaker 3: shadow side.
Speaker 1: For the gradually feel commusic comes.
Speaker 3: Up, cut silk.
Speaker 1: Sat out of castle, I see.
Speaker 4: By side side fuck so thanfuls un look class snow
Speaker 4: side side fluck soul thankful most.
Speaker 3: Rohim sown the sword of part mo is lost of
Speaker 3: the heart is seating me love.
Speaker 1: The selsy lost side.
Speaker 3: Sail like commusing come so love cut such console a
Speaker 3: s ca brit Li sig fucking so hell thankful, I'm
Speaker 3: looking snow sign suck so hell, thanks.
Speaker 1: Put your car your shot shop rod sho.
Speaker 4: Say s shot to show when you shot sid no
Speaker 4: take your kidding.
Speaker 1: Swings should say ju.
Speaker 16: Shore, cat back, what's mine? Nothing's ws or shies So.
Speaker 4: I'm looking sill.
Speaker 1: When will you you shot?
Speaker 10: That is called Wounds. The band is a silent season,
Speaker 10: and we have silent season here with us live in studio.
Speaker 10: Another great track Jeremy. Is it hard to sing like
Speaker 10: that when you gotta switch back and forth between the Uh?
Speaker 10: I mean, does does that bother your throat?
Speaker 5: It's very hard.
Speaker 14: It's It's funny because I've I've been really trying to
Speaker 14: hone in on both of those aspects lately, trying to
Speaker 14: you know, coach myself and you know, vocals, but also
Speaker 14: like not just vocal singing, but but then also like
Speaker 14: learning the the screams and stuff like that, and trying
Speaker 14: to get more knowledge about how to do it correctly,
Speaker 14: because I feel like for a long time I was
Speaker 14: just kind of just doing whatever I wanted to and
Speaker 14: not like actually like looking into it and like how
Speaker 14: you should. Yeah, but yeah, no, it's tricky sometimes, uh,
Speaker 14: you know, like not as recently because I've been kind
Speaker 14: of doing a little bit more research into it, but uh,
Speaker 14: sometimes it was just so hard to like scream and
Speaker 14: then go back to singing and scream and go back
Speaker 14: to singing.
Speaker 5: But right, right, Yeah, it's a constant, uphill battle. But
Speaker 5: I think that, uh, it's getting better.
Speaker 10: Yeah. I've always kind of marveled at singers who can
Speaker 10: do that and seamlessly go back and forth like that. Yeah,
Speaker 10: do you do anything special for your vocal cords, like
Speaker 10: for you know, some people use lemons, you know.
Speaker 14: I have two different devices that I've been using as
Speaker 14: of recently. Ones kind of looks like a whistle. I
Speaker 14: can't specifically remember what these things are called, except for
Speaker 14: ones called doctor Vox and it's like kind of like
Speaker 14: a water bottle that's like half filled and then you
Speaker 14: like sing into it and it kind of like worms
Speaker 14: up your vocal cords.
Speaker 10: Interesting.
Speaker 14: Yeah, yeah, I feel like those things are are good
Speaker 14: for when you're you know, about to do like a
Speaker 14: recording session or something like that, but maybe not necessarily
Speaker 14: for when you're about to you know, go live on
Speaker 14: a set or whatever.
Speaker 12: Yeah.
Speaker 10: Yeah, now that makes sense. Oh, I saw a chat
Speaker 10: room message too. I want to make sure I read
Speaker 10: this Renee Carlisle Abbott. Uh says hi, Daddy love Devin
Speaker 10: and Riley and Julian.
Speaker 12: So there you go. My beautiful family and my wife,
Speaker 12: oh very nice.
Speaker 10: Now having a supportive family is definitely. Uh do they
Speaker 10: come see you live?
Speaker 17: Yeah?
Speaker 12: My order ten has and my wife has not yet.
Speaker 12: Not yet. Yeah, I don't know if they can handle it.
Speaker 10: Yeah, the volume of it, yeah, absolutely. So if you
Speaker 10: are just joining us, we do have silent season here
Speaker 10: with us live in studio. And what's the in terms
Speaker 10: of what is the future hold in terms of new music, Like,
Speaker 10: are you guys always working on new music or obviously
Speaker 10: you've got you know, you're playing shows and you've got
Speaker 10: Swarmy Fest coming up, which is a big deal. But
Speaker 10: are you guys also actively working on new stuff.
Speaker 14: Or Yeah, the summer has been packed with shows, So
Speaker 14: I mean between you know, work life and then playing shows,
Speaker 14: we've done a lot of a lot of that.
Speaker 10: Yeah.
Speaker 14: I think that now the things have kind of died
Speaker 14: down for a minute, we're going to be focusing on
Speaker 14: putting out new music and our writing new music. Yeah,
Speaker 14: we have a lot of things that are kind of
Speaker 14: in the vault right now. Yeah, so it should be
Speaker 14: easy to work with though.
Speaker 10: Yeah, good good. And as far as the live shows go,
Speaker 10: is there anybody in the area. Are there any bands
Speaker 10: that you've kind of you know, what happens organically? Are
Speaker 10: there any bands you've kind of teamed up with? I
Speaker 10: mean obviously for Swarmy Fest, but are there bands that
Speaker 10: you play a lot of shows with that or.
Speaker 6: We've been involved in the local scene for a while
Speaker 6: and a lot of bands have come and gone, but
Speaker 6: I as of recently, we've been playing shows with bands
Speaker 6: like Red Crown, Chasing the Devil. You know, we know
Speaker 6: those guys really well. We played a few shows. What
Speaker 6: major moment they're doing their thing? Oh yeah, and uh,
Speaker 6: I'm just there's just just so many of them. But
Speaker 6: those have been like really that I mentioned those because
Speaker 6: I know a lot of the bands so too. I
Speaker 6: mentioned at the beginning of from New Hampshire. So yeah,
Speaker 6: I mean, keep an eye out. We may end up
Speaker 6: doing more with with those bands. But you know, we
Speaker 6: we also have been really focused a lot on national
Speaker 6: shows as of late too, as a strategy.
Speaker 10: Good to get back.
Speaker 6: We were doing that and we toured in the past
Speaker 6: and we were writing and then we kind of started
Speaker 6: playing some local shows again.
Speaker 7: But everything we do.
Speaker 6: We try to do with strategy in mind, you know,
Speaker 6: as the business grows and we evolve as a band.
Speaker 10: Yeah. Who are some of the I'm curious about national
Speaker 10: acts that you guys have played with.
Speaker 6: Yeah, so over the years we've played with bands like
Speaker 6: Blackfield Brides at the Palladiums, Falling and Reverse. We we
Speaker 6: played with them when rag Key was getting out of
Speaker 6: his thing and getting back on the road. We've also
Speaker 6: played with seven Yeah, we toured with seven Dusts, ten
Speaker 6: Years in Gemini Syndrome, a few bands that mentioned off
Speaker 6: with in Ninja. I got to throw those guys out
Speaker 6: too from Australia. Amazing, amazing band. But yeah, just just
Speaker 6: a slew of nationals over the years and we want
Speaker 6: to keep that keep that ball rolling.
Speaker 10: Oh yeah, no doubt, no doubt. You said you'd gone
Speaker 10: out on tour. Yeah.
Speaker 6: Yeah, we did a few a couple of weeks with
Speaker 6: seven to Us and Gemini Syndrome was on that, and
Speaker 6: then we did another tour with ten Years and twelve
Speaker 6: Foot Ninja okay, and other offers came in.
Speaker 17: Uh.
Speaker 6: It just it's hard because it's all you know, it's
Speaker 6: it's a business. It's a big investment, and you know,
Speaker 6: but we're very thankful for those tours and seven to
Speaker 6: us was just amazing.
Speaker 12: You know.
Speaker 6: They were very welcoming, they treated us as family. Yeah,
Speaker 6: and we'll forever be grateful for that. And we always
Speaker 6: keep in touch with those guys. So yeah, I just
Speaker 6: wanted to share.
Speaker 10: Yeah, I met them when they played at Meadowbrook. Boy
Speaker 10: how long ago was out? It was quite a while
Speaker 10: ago too, Gauz. I might have been around two thousand
Speaker 10: and eight. But yeah, yeah, yeah, really nice guy.
Speaker 6: Yeah yeah, Yeah, they're great. They're great and they're still
Speaker 6: doing it after all these years. They're road warriors and
Speaker 6: they're phenomenal musicians and great amazing music.
Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah, absolutely. Is there anybody you guys have wanted
Speaker 10: to like, do you have like a dream band that
Speaker 10: you'd love to open for or get to tour with.
Speaker 18: I definitely have one, Yeah, and We've tried a few
Speaker 18: times to try to open for them. But I'm a
Speaker 18: huge fan of the band. He is legend and yeah,
Speaker 18: they they've come by the Taffta about a year ago.
Speaker 18: Oh really, yeah, and they they're coming by in September
Speaker 18: actually pretty pretty soon.
Speaker 10: We tried to get on that show.
Speaker 18: It seems like they were full for that, so but
Speaker 18: I'm gonna be there anyways in the crowd because they're
Speaker 18: one of my favorite bands.
Speaker 10: Oh yeah, would definitely be mine.
Speaker 6: Oh very quick story on that. I'm a I'm a
Speaker 6: guy full of stories.
Speaker 1: I'll make this quick.
Speaker 10: Nole's so before ends.
Speaker 6: Well, actually, when Enzo joined, we had played a showm
Speaker 6: right before COVID with He Is Legend and While She
Speaker 6: Sleeps in Summerville, and uh, when Enzo was playing with
Speaker 6: us shortly after he joined, he said, Hey, you know
Speaker 6: you guys played with He Is Legend at Once Ballroom
Speaker 6: and some of them We're like, yeah we did.
Speaker 10: He was I was there. I'm like oh wow.
Speaker 6: We were like wow, that's crazy, small world kind of vibe.
Speaker 6: And we didn't know him at the time. And a
Speaker 6: couple of years, few years fast forward, he then joined
Speaker 6: the band, and I think it was meant to be
Speaker 6: at that He Is Legend show. Now we just got
Speaker 6: to come full circle. Like Enzoe said, we got to
Speaker 6: play a show what he is Legend?
Speaker 7: So he is Legend.
Speaker 6: If you're listening, let's do this.
Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah, no doubt, no doubt. Let's hit another studio tracks.
Speaker 10: So we've got a couple we haven't played, right, we
Speaker 10: haven't played a chance or Stars. We'll play one now
Speaker 10: and then we'll play one for the end of the segment.
Speaker 10: How's that? So, I'll let you guy, which which one
Speaker 10: do you want to go with next?
Speaker 6: Brandon Joe Jeremy's two Stars do Stars?
Speaker 7: Is this?
Speaker 10: What's the newest one? By the way, is that Stars?
Speaker 5: No? The newest ones are in Flames and Hopeless.
Speaker 10: Okay, those are the two that we Okay, all right, cool,
Speaker 10: let's give this a spend. If you're just joining us,
Speaker 10: We've got silent Season here with us, live in studio,
Speaker 10: and we're gonna play another track. This is called Stars.
Speaker 1: Shoot shoot you.
Speaker 9: And for for tho sides?
Speaker 1: Shoot you.
Speaker 8: Side? Sure?
Speaker 1: What can't you start at? Always go as you chose?
Speaker 7: Can't?
Speaker 1: I can't jump the can.
Speaker 7: This little one? Who should?
Speaker 1: Children?
Speaker 7: Soon? Way, sir should and make up.
Speaker 19: The I can't shot him? God, but I in my
Speaker 19: dream as guys, what just go smell got.
Speaker 1: My boye go you myself girls girl song.
Speaker 4: John Watcher said, good by.
Speaker 1: You, Jeff.
Speaker 20: Job, Jeff you stus if you Shosken Woice you.
Speaker 10: I didn't even want to talk over the feed it
Speaker 10: sounds so cool. As a radio guy, I'm supposed to
Speaker 10: talk over the fade out rather not feed the fade out.
Speaker 10: But I just love that so much. I just wanted
Speaker 10: to let that ring out. That's so cool. That's an
Speaker 10: epic song. Great job, guys, I love that, man. I
Speaker 10: love that. That is star as the band is Silent Season,
Speaker 10: And hey, thank you all for joining us today. This
Speaker 10: has been this has been great. Really love talking to
Speaker 10: you guys. I want to make sure so a couple
Speaker 10: of things. I want to make sure remind everybody about
Speaker 10: Swarmy Fest November fifteenth. You guys are co headlining with

Speaker 10: to see you guys live. That's gonna be great. Matt
Speaker 10: Condorton Unleashed is one of the sponsors on the show,
Speaker 10: so we're we're we're really looking forward to that. And
Speaker 10: then let's see where should people go. Where's the best
Speaker 10: place for who will go online to keep up with
Speaker 10: everything that you guys are doing.
Speaker 6: Yeah, we have a website, Silent Season music dot com.
Speaker 6: It lists out all our socials on there. We're on Facebook,

Speaker 10: Excellent. And then when's your next show? Is Swarmy Thust
Speaker 10: the next one? Or do you have something before? Then
Speaker 10: where's the next place?
Speaker 6: It's the next one right now? But there, even though
Speaker 6: we said we're going to be working on some things
Speaker 6: with music, we're gonna sort of multitask. There's a couple
Speaker 6: shows we're working on in Providence and oh good also
Speaker 6: maybe New Jersey. That's all I can say for now,
Speaker 6: but as soon as more details come out, we'll be
Speaker 6: sure to let the show here. No, and we could
Speaker 6: let everyone find out what's going on if they want
Speaker 6: to travel to come see us.
Speaker 10: Yeah, but We're going to try to.
Speaker 6: Also do some more shows obviously around the area so
Speaker 6: we don't lose the burn, and you know, just keep active, multitasking,
Speaker 6: writing shows, all that good stuff.
Speaker 10: Yeah, there's a lot that goes into it. People who
Speaker 10: don't people who haven't done it don't know. There's a
Speaker 10: lot that goes into it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, and shout
Speaker 10: out again to paper Jam Right, that's so cool. You know,
