Speaker 9: The show is Matt Connorton Unleashed.
Speaker 8: We are live.
Speaker 9: We have entered our number two new Marrow Dose on
Speaker 9: this Saturday morning. Jenny is here of course as well
Speaker 9: at the news table account for and we have joining
Speaker 9: us via Skype. Adam Steglitic is here from the band
Speaker 9: Ever Felt.
Speaker 7: Hello Adam, Hey, how you guys doing good?
Speaker 8: Good?
Speaker 9: Welcome back? Last time we last time we talked to
Speaker 9: was a couple of years ago, I think right, two
Speaker 9: or three.
Speaker 7: Years ago, twenty twenty twenty two.
Speaker 9: Wow, yeah, So I love the new I love the
Speaker 9: new material from the the EP, the self titled EP,
Speaker 9: and Reach is the first single off of that.
Speaker 7: Correct, yes, sir, yes, sir.
Speaker 8: Yeah, really good, really good.
Speaker 9: I love all of these I listened everything that you
Speaker 9: sent us and just uh, just great stuff. Has the
Speaker 9: sound changed, I feel like it might have changed a
Speaker 9: little bit from when we had you on before, kind
Speaker 9: of evolved a bit.
Speaker 10: Yes, So we we've had a few different changes. So
Speaker 10: we have a new drummer.
Speaker 7: He joined the band about nine months ago. He's on
Speaker 7: this EP. And we now have a new bass player too,
Speaker 7: but he's the bass player that we had before is
Speaker 7: on the EP.
Speaker 10: But we have a new bass player now that's joined
Speaker 10: and they're gonna play our first show with us October
Speaker 10: fifth and Evansville, Indiana.
Speaker 7: But but yes.
Speaker 10: Yes, definitely, it evolved in you know, and and playing it,
Speaker 10: playing it live, and then and then working on it
Speaker 10: and then having Corey being able to do two different
Speaker 10: tracks on it. Actually we were able to go to
Speaker 10: Loud and Clear Studios in Kentucky and do it with
Speaker 10: a real producer, Shelby, and he did a great job
Speaker 10: and we you know, we were able to do those
Speaker 10: five songs in two days. So we were really happy
Speaker 10: with you know, him being able to you know it
Speaker 10: really we were ready, you know, we were really ready to.
Speaker 7: Go and record them.
Speaker 10: But at the same time, you know, the atmosphere was
Speaker 10: just so nice and comfortable for us when we it
Speaker 10: was like being it was like being at our practice
Speaker 10: studio where we went to records.
Speaker 7: So it was nice.
Speaker 8: Oh that's fantastic.
Speaker 9: I'm curious to hear more about that because obviously, because
Speaker 9: you guys are Chicago based.
Speaker 8: Correct.
Speaker 7: Oh no, we're actually southern Illinois.
Speaker 8: Oh, southern Illinois.
Speaker 9: Oh so you're not that far from Okay, I was
Speaker 9: thinking more Chicago area. So so actually, so to go
Speaker 9: from there to Kentucky, it's not that that much of
Speaker 9: a haul, No, it's.
Speaker 10: It was to where we recorded. It was only a
Speaker 10: little over an hour from where I live.
Speaker 9: Oh okay, okay, Yeah, So I'm curious to know more
Speaker 9: about that, your experience at that studio and the producer
Speaker 9: that you worked with, because you've got so many options now,
Speaker 9: as you know, in terms of recording, there's there's a
Speaker 9: million recording studios, you can record at home, there's so
Speaker 9: many different ways you can do it. So but it
Speaker 9: sounds like you really enjoyed your experience recording at that particular.
Speaker 7: Studio most definitely.
Speaker 10: I mean, honestly, we were able to stay there also,
Speaker 10: and so you know, it was a two day experience
Speaker 10: where the whole band we stayed there, we recorded, we
Speaker 10: were able to do the scratch tracks all live together,
Speaker 10: and then we were able to go back in on
Speaker 10: the you know, separately and being able to get I mean, honestly,
Speaker 10: we were only going to do a four song EP
Speaker 10: to begin with, but it went so well and everything
Speaker 10: was like, I mean happening like magic magically. I would
Speaker 10: have to have to say it that way, because honestly,
Speaker 10: on the ball, I did two vocal tracks for each
Speaker 10: song and we literally I didn't have to go back
Speaker 10: and redo anything.
Speaker 7: We were really ready.
Speaker 10: You know, we practiced, we were ready for the studio times.
Speaker 10: So you know, when you pay for the time, you
Speaker 10: know you want to make sure that you capitalize on it.
Speaker 10: So when we got done with the first four we
Speaker 10: still had enough time where Shelby was like, Hey, if
Speaker 10: you guys want to do a fifth song, you gotta
Speaker 10: to let me know now we need to get it done,
Speaker 10: and so we did. We chose to do River, which
Speaker 10: was the fifth song on the album, which is that
Speaker 10: ended up being an eight minute, twenty three second song.
Speaker 9: Yeah no, that's great, I want to do another song,
Speaker 9: So you.
Speaker 8: Had to seize the opportunity.
Speaker 10: Yeah, absolutely, West definitely. You know, River was the song
Speaker 10: that started ever Felt.
Speaker 7: Really. You know, ever Felt began with.
Speaker 10: My best friend Charles Lingerfeld, who passed away in twenty
Speaker 10: twenty one. We had a band called Angerfelt before then,
Speaker 10: and his last name is linger Felt. So I wanted
Speaker 10: him to be forever Felt in the music that we do,
Speaker 10: and River was his original melody, so you know, that
Speaker 10: song was really important to us as a band. So yeah,
Speaker 10: so it was really cool to put him on the
Speaker 10: first EP, put his song on there, So that makes sense.
Speaker 8: I mean how prepared?
Speaker 9: I mean, did you guys in order to be really
Speaker 9: prepared for this experience, because when you're going into a
Speaker 9: studio and it's it's, like you said, you're paying for
Speaker 9: the time, so you want to be efficient, but of
Speaker 9: course you also want to get the best possible performance
Speaker 9: that you can. So were you guys like rehearsing like
Speaker 9: five nights a week leading up to when you went
Speaker 9: to the studio.
Speaker 8: I mean that must have been intense. I mean, what
Speaker 8: was that like?
Speaker 7: We played. Since the last time I talked to you,
Speaker 7: we've played eighteen shows.
Speaker 8: Oh wow, okay, well.
Speaker 7: You know, also playing those you know, playing those songs.
Speaker 10: But also we practiced, We kept our normal practices, but
Speaker 10: we practiced, you know, every Sunday.
Speaker 7: We practice every Sunday, So yeah, we practice every Sunday.
Speaker 10: Plus we had a couple of shows right before, so
Speaker 10: really it was more of just having two really you know,
Speaker 10: six hour practices, really honing in on what we wanted
Speaker 10: to do and being ready to go there. And when
Speaker 10: I do the vocals, I mean when I practice vocals,
Speaker 10: I practice at home too. You can't being if you
Speaker 10: really want to do this and be good at it,
Speaker 10: you can't just practice at practice, and so you also
Speaker 10: have to practice at home. And so I even like
Speaker 10: when I do the vocals, I practiced my vocals all
Speaker 10: compelled without even the music at home.
Speaker 7: So you know, we really that's how well I know
Speaker 7: the songs, you know what I mean?
Speaker 10: So when you really so when we had that opportunity
Speaker 10: and we had no idea that go there, that Shelby
Speaker 10: was going to be such a cool dude and and
Speaker 10: really made us feel very at home, like it felt
Speaker 10: like a home situation.
Speaker 7: I don't know how it's to describe that, but.
Speaker 10: It really made us feel like we could just be
Speaker 10: ourselves and so that allowed us to just really let
Speaker 10: go and just let the music do what it needed
Speaker 10: to do to you know, take us to that place
Speaker 10: to channel what you hear on the EP.
Speaker 7: You know.
Speaker 8: Yeah, well that makes a huge difference.
Speaker 9: I mean, I know from my own experience with recording,
Speaker 9: there's nothing worse than if you go to a studio
Speaker 9: and you've got a limited amount of time and you're
Speaker 9: dealing with an engineer or a producer who's maybe a
Speaker 9: little grumpy or maybe they just you know, they're just
Speaker 9: not the friendliest because to them it's just a job.
Speaker 9: But it sounds like with Shelby like he really he
Speaker 9: really cares about what he's doing and goes out of
Speaker 9: his way to make it feel comfortable.
Speaker 7: So that's great, he really did.
Speaker 8: Man, what's the name of that studio again?
Speaker 7: That's Loud and Clear Studios in Konduka, Kentucky.
Speaker 9: Okay, And how did you find how did you find
Speaker 9: that studio? Like what went into because obviously you had
Speaker 9: no way of knowing for sure that it was going
Speaker 9: to be such a great experience. What went into choosing
Speaker 9: that studio, because again, you have so many different options
Speaker 9: these days.
Speaker 10: Well, I actually was we were trying to find a
Speaker 10: studio that was you know, budget friendly, but also that
Speaker 10: had had a good you know, track record with our
Speaker 10: kind of music in a sense. Yeah, but also we
Speaker 10: were looking for something that was within a two hour
Speaker 10: drive of us without having that way, you know, we
Speaker 10: didn't know if we'd find a place we could stay at,
Speaker 10: but we did, but we didn't know that, you know,
Speaker 10: so in case we did have to travel back home
Speaker 10: for whatever reason, we didn't know how long it would take.
Speaker 7: We didn't know a lot of those things. So yeah,
Speaker 7: so we.
Speaker 10: Were definitely wanting to find something within driving distance, but
Speaker 10: also somebody who you know. And then when I got
Speaker 10: a hold of him, his rates were great and he
Speaker 10: was you know, just like you could just tell his
Speaker 10: energy was you know, he cared about what he does.
Speaker 7: Yeah, and there is that.
Speaker 10: It's his name involved what he cares about the music itself,
Speaker 10: and that matters.
Speaker 9: Well it shows too in the final product. Did he
Speaker 9: do the master in as well or did you have
Speaker 9: to take that somewhere else?
Speaker 10: No, we wanted him to do the mixing new mastering,
Speaker 10: since he recorded it, you know, he felt that be
Speaker 10: the best fluid way to do it.
Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, no, that's excellent, excellent.
Speaker 9: Now the uh, do you have more music that you're
Speaker 9: that you're working on, because I assume you have additional
Speaker 9: songs that you play live, right.
Speaker 7: Oh, definitely, yes, sir. So we actually have those five.
Speaker 7: We actually have another thirteen songs.
Speaker 8: Oh okay.
Speaker 7: Yeah, But what.
Speaker 10: The plan is is, I don't know what time next
Speaker 10: year yet, but next year we're gonna be working with
Speaker 10: Shelle Began and we're gonna be doing our first album.
Speaker 10: And so what's gonna happen is we're gonna take the
Speaker 10: five songs from the EP remaster and with the new
Speaker 10: bass player a couple other things we want to remaster
Speaker 10: on them on those songs, and then an additional seven songs.
Speaker 10: So it's gonna be twelve song album. Oh, ever, gonna
Speaker 10: be released in next year. So we just wanted to
Speaker 10: get the EP out there with the new drummer and
Speaker 10: really have something that we can you know, have let
Speaker 10: the people here while we're working on shows behind the scenes,
Speaker 10: and then also you know, an album too.
Speaker 7: So and then November tenth.
Speaker 10: We're actually working with Rudwood Creative to create our first
Speaker 10: official music video for Reach.
Speaker 8: Oh excellent.
Speaker 7: Yeah, so we're really excited about that.
Speaker 8: Yeah, very good.
Speaker 9: Do you already have the concept and everything? Are you
Speaker 9: still in the process of figuring that out?
Speaker 7: We have some of the concept.
Speaker 10: You know, Reach is really about, you know, we've all
Speaker 10: been found broken alone in that hole, reaching out and
Speaker 10: in that desolate place you find that that it's in
Speaker 10: that place where you realize that in order to truly
Speaker 10: reach out, you must first reach in and then so
Speaker 10: it's it's philosophical, but you know, the idea is like
Speaker 10: almost like the concept and theme of the music video
Speaker 10: is almost like the light you see when you're.
Speaker 7: Reaching through the dirt of a buried grave.
Speaker 10: You know, the first light you see is the very
Speaker 10: light at the end of the music video that brings
Speaker 10: us all together as a band, or that kind of concept.
Speaker 10: So we're going with that, but it's also going to
Speaker 10: be like in the Woods and the dude.
Speaker 7: The dude Trey Rudd from Rodwood Creative.
Speaker 10: He actually is somebody that we found through Shelby and
Speaker 10: he is He's really good.
Speaker 7: He's also based in Kentucky.
Speaker 10: But we've seen some of the work and the videos
Speaker 10: he's done, so yeah, it's going to be like a
Speaker 10: six hour video shoot that we're going to do on
Speaker 10: November tenth.
Speaker 8: Oh fantastic. Yeah.
Speaker 9: I feel like it's so important too to do to
Speaker 9: do music videos, which to some people, to people who
Speaker 9: don't know, that might sound odd in the year twenty
Speaker 9: twenty four, because I forget who. We were talking about
Speaker 9: this recently on the show, but we're talking with someone
Speaker 9: about how some people have a misperception that there are
Speaker 9: no music videos anymore, because you know, MTV doesn't play
Speaker 9: music videos anymore, VH one or anything. But actually, because
Speaker 9: of YouTube, I would say music videos are more important
Speaker 9: than they've ever been because it's something that you can
Speaker 9: really use to promote your music, to share out on
Speaker 9: social media and all of that.
Speaker 10: Because you know, attention span is so because of the
Speaker 10: advent of social media and phones, attention spans like next
Speaker 10: to nothing, and so because of that, you know, you
Speaker 10: really want to have those captivating images that get people
Speaker 10: to keep listening. And so that's the reason for the videos,
Speaker 10: you know, Yeah, you know, and and honestly I see why,
Speaker 10: I mean even myself, I mean I'm sure you understand too,
Speaker 10: you know, like it's easy to get there's so much
Speaker 10: music out there, you really want to try to find
Speaker 10: a way to create your own path. Yeah, and without
Speaker 10: trying to do that, you can't really try to do that,
Speaker 10: and you and up.
Speaker 7: You just have to let it, you know.
Speaker 10: Like for instance, with our music, with Corey and Jacob
Speaker 10: and I writing this music, I have to say, like
Speaker 10: it kind of in a sense happens to us because
Speaker 10: we allow the music to create and write the songs
Speaker 10: and so, you know, and then we just we allow
Speaker 10: whatever whatever happens to us as we're working on it
Speaker 10: to you know, we record that, we come back, we
Speaker 10: whittle that down. So it's really just something that kind
Speaker 10: of writes itself through us as long as we're allowing
Speaker 10: ourselves to be the channel for the music instead of
Speaker 10: trying to control it too much.
Speaker 7: You know.
Speaker 8: Yeah, I like that. I like that.
Speaker 4: Yeah.
Speaker 9: Something we talk a lot on the show about as
Speaker 9: well with with our guests, as the process of of
Speaker 9: of creating and writing. And I think the you know,
Speaker 9: from my own experience, I think the best is when
Speaker 9: you're not trying to force it to You're not saying Okay,
Speaker 9: we're going to try to make this sound like this,
Speaker 9: or we want to sound like that, but rather just
Speaker 9: kind of letting it be organic and letting it kind
Speaker 9: of as you describe it, which I think is great,
Speaker 9: letting it kind of come through you. Yes, exactly, Yeah, yeah,
Speaker 9: so that's that's great at this point, are you all?
Speaker 8: It sounds like the whole band rights together. Is that
Speaker 8: is that accurate? Yeah?
Speaker 10: Yes, yeah, we we write together a lot of times,
Speaker 10: like with with the five songs in the EP for instance.
Speaker 10: You know, the original melody of River obviously came from Charlie,
Speaker 10: my buddy that passed, but yeah, we turned it into
Speaker 10: something completely you know, its own, forever felt, you know,
Speaker 10: but the original melody came from him, but Jacob really
Speaker 10: worked on that. And Jacob brought our rhythm guitarist. He
Speaker 10: brought into the fire, the original Rift for into the fire.
Speaker 7: And gave it away.
Speaker 10: He brought those songs to the table, and then the
Speaker 10: other ones, Reach and Lie and and River were all
Speaker 10: that we kind of came up together. Corey brought Reached,
Speaker 10: you know, the original Reach, but a lot of the
Speaker 10: newer stuff that you're going to be hearing on the
Speaker 10: album is stuff that Corey brought to the table.
Speaker 7: He would he has this terrible, crazy habit of hell.
Speaker 7: He'll write a rift that he loves.
Speaker 10: He'll be at home and he tries to call me
Speaker 10: and play it for me over the phone. But yeah,
Speaker 10: I can't ever understand hardly any of it. But by
Speaker 10: the time we get to the studio, I mean, by
Speaker 10: the time we get to the studio to work on it,
Speaker 10: you know, it's just and.
Speaker 7: It's it's really kind of crazy, dude.
Speaker 10: Sometimes Corey will he'll write a rift for a song
Speaker 10: and he'll just kind of just tell me the words
Speaker 10: that come to him when he wrote it, like the
Speaker 10: concept and the theme for instance, and I'll just go
Speaker 10: with that, and so it just, you know, it just depends.
Speaker 10: But yeah, a lot of our creative process is really
Speaker 10: bringing whatever rift or whatever we're doing to the table
Speaker 10: and freestyle creating right then and there. And while we're
Speaker 10: freestyle and we record what we're doing, and I'll try
Speaker 10: all these various different vocal patterns and whatever the music
Speaker 10: naturally makes me talk about. Yeah, when I'm singing is
Speaker 10: what the song ends up being about. So I want
Speaker 10: to I literally literally want to allow the music whatever
Speaker 10: the music makes me do to allow it to take
Speaker 10: it to the direction of the song. So that way
Speaker 10: it's all fluid, you know, and right right, and.
Speaker 7: And really it is. It is kind of a channel.
Speaker 10: And when you really allow yourself to be captured by
Speaker 10: the music, can really allow it to do it through you.
Speaker 7: What what I mean?
Speaker 10: Sometimes when that happens, I have a hard time reproducing
Speaker 10: it really, Yeah, yeah, you know what I mean. Like
Speaker 10: you go back and you're like, man that you you
Speaker 10: listen to the recording, You're like, how did we do?
Speaker 7: How did we actually do that? Like, and then you
Speaker 7: have to.
Speaker 10: Try to go back and remember, you know, sometimes when
Speaker 10: you really get lost in it, you.
Speaker 7: Know, right right, yeah, And that's that's the beauty of it,
Speaker 7: you know, that's really the beauty of music.
Speaker 9: Yeah, and then the challenge of trying to find your
Speaker 9: way back to that magic moment.
Speaker 8: Yeah, exactly, Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. Uh
Speaker 8: do is there a theme? Do these songs have.
Speaker 9: A through line on this EP? Because listening to them,
Speaker 9: I kind of feel like I couldn't quite detect what
Speaker 9: it might be. And maybe there isn't one. Maybe I
Speaker 9: just perceive there possibly being a theme because these songs
Speaker 9: fit together so well. But I'm curious, is there an
Speaker 9: overlying theme to the EP?
Speaker 7: Well?
Speaker 10: Yeah, so every song on the EP, from Reached End
Speaker 10: of the Fire to River to Gave It Away, they
Speaker 10: all have to do with the various themes that we
Speaker 10: all face as a human race, like they all have
Speaker 10: to do with like for instance, Gave It Away is
Speaker 10: about you know, being willing to sacrifice even when no
Speaker 10: one else sees it for the thing you love, you know,
Speaker 10: into the fires, being willing to brave the fires of
Speaker 10: life to burn away the parts of you that aren't you,
Speaker 10: rivers about life. So for me, it's really all about
Speaker 10: these philosophical themes that we all think about and deal
Speaker 10: with on the daily basis.
Speaker 8: Yeah.
Speaker 10: Really, the that's really the overlying theme of everything that
Speaker 10: we do.
Speaker 7: Has ever felt really Yeah.
Speaker 10: As a writer, I published my first book in two
Speaker 10: thousand and four called Wins of Perception Scratching the Surface.
Speaker 10: And even that was a book of poetry where I
Speaker 10: really wanted to take my style of writing and and
Speaker 10: address the various themes that we face as humans and
Speaker 10: so in a philosophical way.
Speaker 7: And so that's really really what it is is.
Speaker 10: About getting in tune with oneself and becoming who you're
Speaker 10: really supposed to be.
Speaker 7: That's that's really the the ideas.
Speaker 10: You know, you know, even even when you're talking about
Speaker 10: and reach, when you talk about the chorus bleeding out
Speaker 10: to keep the mind new, what I'm talking about there
Speaker 10: literally is I'm saying, you know, everything is about the mind.
Speaker 10: You know, everything's about people get caught in their heads,
Speaker 10: and they get caught in the mental of it, and
Speaker 10: they forget the soul. And so your souls bleeding out
Speaker 10: just to concentrate on the mind and so and to
Speaker 10: concentrate on and and the things we worry about in
Speaker 10: life where we get caught in our head, you know, right,
Speaker 10: And so that's really the the overlying theme is like
Speaker 10: learning how to find oneself. Like the song Stranger is
Speaker 10: going to be on the album, it's really that that song,
Speaker 10: you know, also is about, you know, realizing that the
Speaker 10: stranger that is within you is the real you.
Speaker 7: And so that's the.
Speaker 10: Idea, is to shed all the chains and the preconceived
Speaker 10: notions that you were that were ingrained in you when
Speaker 10: you were younger and really become the you that you
Speaker 10: really are and what you're meant to be here, you know,
Speaker 10: And so that's the over line theme.
Speaker 8: No, I like it.
Speaker 9: You know what's cool about all this too, is there's
Speaker 9: a very positive message to it all. I mean, you
Speaker 9: can really get a lot out of it. But it's
Speaker 9: interesting because the sound of the band sort of the
Speaker 9: sort of psychedelic but metal. I don't know exactly how
Speaker 9: you would describe it. You guys are unique, I think,
Speaker 9: but but you almost if you didn't know, and if
Speaker 9: you didn't hear the lyrics, if you just heard the music,
Speaker 9: you almost might think it was kind of a dark,
Speaker 9: brooding thing. But there's some really positive messaging in the
Speaker 9: lyrics and what these songs are about. And I think
Speaker 9: that's really cool.
Speaker 10: Yeah, because we want to you know, and thank you
Speaker 10: very much for saying that, we want to relate to
Speaker 10: the dark tunnel with our listeners that they are also
Speaker 10: in or they've been in before. But we also talk
Speaker 10: about the door we found. We also want to talk
Speaker 10: about the light that we found within the darkness, because
Speaker 10: the candle flame flicker is never so bright as in
Speaker 10: a dark room. So for that reason alone, that's the
Speaker 10: reason why we bring that dark brooding sound, because you know,
Speaker 10: in order to truly you know, and counter true light,
Speaker 10: you have to be willing to brave the darkness.
Speaker 8: Yeah. I like it.
Speaker 9: I'm someone I struggle with depression, and when I listen
Speaker 9: to that song, when I listen to Reach, you know,
Speaker 9: that's I kind of it clicked with me, I think
Speaker 9: for that reason, and so I was able to take
Speaker 9: something from that that that's uh, you know that I
Speaker 9: really like I really like that song a lot.
Speaker 7: Thank you, man, I really appreciate that, Matt.
Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, absolutely absolutely. What's your stage show like? Do
Speaker 9: you guys have any kind of because you know, with
Speaker 9: your sound, it would lend itself to something kind of
Speaker 9: dramatic or maybe not maybe maybe just do kind of
Speaker 9: a you know, you just you just play. I don't know,
Speaker 9: I mean, do you have any kind of any kind
Speaker 9: of a stage show or or do you just I.
Speaker 7: Mean, I will say this. We we definitely put on
Speaker 7: a show.
Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, we perform.
Speaker 7: I'm all over the stage.
Speaker 10: But uh, but we are just now working on the fog,
Speaker 10: the lights, the we're actually working on with my new
Speaker 10: bass player. We're working on an introduction and entire introduction
Speaker 10: to our show before we come on stage. So we're
Speaker 10: getting all of the extras together now for this next
Speaker 10: coming year. But honestly, uh, I don't know if you've
Speaker 10: seen any of our live videos.
Speaker 7: I think you have. We we get down.
Speaker 10: Yeah, I've seen seen a lot of bands stand up
Speaker 10: there and just play. That's not what we do right, right,
Speaker 10: And and I pride myself on really being able to
Speaker 10: allow myself to truly become the channel on stage for
Speaker 10: the music and honestly hit every note, but get down
Speaker 10: and and and and that takes practice. Like when I
Speaker 10: play on I practice at practice. It's like I'm performing.
Speaker 10: And I'll tell you what last last Sunday, because we
Speaker 10: just had got this new bass player, so it's been
Speaker 10: about a month now and he's gonna play his first
Speaker 10: show with us on October fifth. But last Sunday was
Speaker 10: our first like six hour practice where we went through
Speaker 10: the set twice.
Speaker 7: And and uh, I.
Speaker 10: Gotta tell you, I was hurting the next day, man,
Speaker 10: because we hadn't had like a you know, we had
Speaker 10: like a kind of a break there for like three
Speaker 10: weeks where we didn't have a show or anything, and
Speaker 10: we didn't practice because of other family stuff and all that.
Speaker 7: You know.
Speaker 10: Yeah, But but yeah, yeah, so, uh, really excited to
Speaker 10: get the new bass player because not only is he
Speaker 10: bringing some awesome thump into the bass on some of
Speaker 10: our songs that we didn't have before, but also he's
Speaker 10: like a whiz.
Speaker 7: When it comes to like light and fog and all
Speaker 7: this other stuff.
Speaker 8: So good.
Speaker 7: So yeah, so I'm super excited about that.
Speaker 10: He's gonna we're working on a projector screen behind us
Speaker 10: instead of a banner I'm trying to get.
Speaker 9: Yeah, I can imagine that with your music. I can
Speaker 9: imagine a projector's screen.
Speaker 10: Yeah, we want to we want to project some images
Speaker 10: and yeah, and uh and really take people on that
Speaker 10: give him an experience, you know.
Speaker 11: Mm hmmm hmm.
Speaker 9: Do you have to uh, do you do anything to
Speaker 9: take care of your voice, like lemon or anything, because
Speaker 9: you you obviously with what you're doing, you know, it's
Speaker 9: pretty intense.
Speaker 8: Your vocals are pretty intense.
Speaker 7: Thanks man.
Speaker 8: Yeah.
Speaker 10: Yeah, so honestly, I don't smoke. Another one, Number two
Speaker 10: is I do breath work and chakra work every day.
Speaker 8: Oh interesting, okay, yes.
Speaker 10: And so that's been something I found that's totally changed
Speaker 10: the whole game for me when it comes to being
Speaker 10: ready for the stage and being able to.
Speaker 7: Hit everything and do what I do.
Speaker 10: And also a workout regiment is important twice a week.
Speaker 10: But on stage, I drink let me tell you what
Speaker 10: it is on stage. I don't drink alcohol. I do
Speaker 10: particulars in marijuana.
Speaker 7: But do you drink alcohol? Really? So I don't have
Speaker 7: alcohol on stage, So I drink what does she do
Speaker 7: with my heart chakra tea?
Speaker 8: But yeah, I've heard of that.
Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, I drink that on stage.
Speaker 10: And then I also always have a blue gator I
Speaker 10: don't know what it is about the blue the blue Gatorade,
Speaker 10: but it's really soothing if you need something to drink
Speaker 10: on stage other than water.
Speaker 7: Yeah, anyone's listening to this. That's a singer. Oh, here
Speaker 7: it is. I don't know why you put in here.
Speaker 7: I want to here.
Speaker 6: This is.
Speaker 10: It's the organic throat code is what it's called. It
Speaker 10: is made of slippery elm. Yeah, okay, slippery elm tee.
Speaker 10: So if if you do vocals where you go back
Speaker 10: and forth between the heavies and the lights, this is
Speaker 10: really nice to have on stage.
Speaker 8: Oh, very cool, very cool.
Speaker 9: Yeah, I mean we have a lot of musicians who
Speaker 9: listen to the show, so that might be very helpful
Speaker 9: to someone. Yeah, that really caught my attention to what
Speaker 9: you were saying about the breath work, because so I
Speaker 9: don't know if you know anything about my background, but
Speaker 9: I'm also a hypnotherapist and I use a lot of
Speaker 9: breath work in my sessions with my clients, so I
Speaker 9: know the value of that and and all kinds of
Speaker 9: applications for it.
Speaker 7: It's mind blowing.
Speaker 8: Yep, yep.
Speaker 10: People that are if you're if you're an artist in
Speaker 10: anybody anyway, it don't matter what walk of life you're in,
Speaker 10: definitely look into the chakra and breath work is very important,
Speaker 10: the chanting, all of that I do.
Speaker 7: I do it every day.
Speaker 10: I have a forty minute drive to work in the morning,
Speaker 10: so I do it every day on my way to work.
Speaker 7: The breath work. They don't do much meditation then, but
Speaker 7: be a little dangerous, right. But I also there's also
Speaker 7: like this what's it called.
Speaker 10: Ancient Meditations on Facebook where they have like this the
Speaker 10: sounds the different frequencies that you can use to listen
Speaker 10: to while you're doing it. Oh yeah, so that's also
Speaker 10: a cool thing to utilize if anybody's also listening.
Speaker 7: But yeah, being a hypno therapist.
Speaker 10: You said you're a certified hypno therapist, right, Yes, that's
Speaker 10: phenomenal man.
Speaker 7: Yeah.
Speaker 9: Yeah, I've been doing it about twenty years now, and
Speaker 9: you know, I help people to quit smoking. That's like
Speaker 9: the number one thing. But you know it's got a
Speaker 9: lot of a lot of different applications. But yeah, and
Speaker 9: you know, we do a lot of breath work, and
Speaker 9: when I'm taking the client into a state of hypnosis,
Speaker 9: we do a lot of a lot of breathing. And
Speaker 9: sometimes people kind of chuckle when I say now I
Speaker 9: want you to breath and they're like, well, I already am,
Speaker 9: or i'd be dead. And it's like no, no, no,
Speaker 9: I want.
Speaker 8: You to really breathe. Yeah, and then we get in
Speaker 8: all of that and.
Speaker 10: The four seven eight breathing technique, you know, the nose,
Speaker 10: the in the mouth of all of that. When they
Speaker 10: really do it that you just I've done it with
Speaker 10: my wife and a few other friends and they're like wow.
Speaker 10: They you could just see the look of surprise in
Speaker 10: their face when you can just tell when you really
Speaker 10: control your breathing, it takes you to another place.
Speaker 8: Yep.
Speaker 10: Yeah, it honestly helps you get to center and so yeah,
Speaker 10: I tell everyone.
Speaker 8: It's kind of like hitting the reset button.
Speaker 9: You know, if you're having a difficult day, a challenging day,
Speaker 9: you need to de stress for a minute and you
Speaker 9: need to just kind of reset everything, you know, just
Speaker 9: just stop and do the breathing and it and it
Speaker 9: just kind of, like I said, it just kind of
Speaker 9: helps you reset.
Speaker 12: You know.
Speaker 9: It's like like pushing the button on the video game
Speaker 9: when you want to start over.
Speaker 8: You know, That's how I think of it.
Speaker 7: It truly does.
Speaker 9: Oh, by the way, too, something else you mentioned that
Speaker 9: that also really caught my attention. So you're you're a
Speaker 9: published author.
Speaker 10: Yes, sir, Yeah, I published my first book, well my
Speaker 10: only book in two thousand and four, is called Wins
Speaker 10: of Perception, Scratching the Surface. You can get it at
Speaker 10: Amazon dot com. But I also have a Facebook page
Speaker 10: called Stirring to Wake. I'm always working with the Everfelt page,
Speaker 10: so I don't really post a lot of the writings,
Speaker 10: but yeah, yeah, a lot of the writing is on there.
Speaker 7: But yeah, I've been writing ever since I can remember.
Speaker 8: Yeah.
Speaker 9: Yeah, oh interesting, okay, very cool. Do you have any
Speaker 9: plans to do another book?
Speaker 10: I do if I am not playing stadiums or arenas
Speaker 10: by the time I'm thirty five, I'm just gonna write
Speaker 10: the novel I've been thinking.
Speaker 7: I've been where I started a novel too, But it's like.
Speaker 10: This whole you know, it's this experimental fantasy obviously, but
Speaker 10: but you know, yeah, I've told you know, my named Corey,
Speaker 10: my my league guitars Corey Robinson. You hear how amazing
Speaker 10: he is, Yeah, in person to the most humble badass.
Speaker 4: I know.
Speaker 10: I also have this awesome Japanese piece. He just did
Speaker 10: this tattoo work he just did on my arm. That's
Speaker 10: so sick man.
Speaker 8: Oh wow.
Speaker 10: But yeah, he's super talented and it's super cool dude.
Speaker 10: But oh, I was minding his goal. You know, he's
Speaker 10: he just turned forty four. I'm forty two in October.
Speaker 10: Second here in a couple of days, we're hoping to
Speaker 10: be playing arenas and stadiums by the time.
Speaker 7: We're fifty with this music.
Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah, not we might just you know, well look
Speaker 10: at others, but we'll see.
Speaker 8: The universe will give you that schedule.
Speaker 7: You know. I love that you spoke that into existence.
Speaker 9: Just now, my friends, there you go, there you go, Well, Adam,
Speaker 9: I really appreciate talking with you this morning. I was
Speaker 9: thinking we might end the segment with The Lie, which
Speaker 9: is another great another great track, great track from the
Speaker 9: EP man. Anything we should know about this before we
Speaker 9: play it.
Speaker 10: The Lie is, you know, a song that is all
Speaker 10: about out everything we're hearing about coming through our screens,
Speaker 10: our TVs, our phones, even the lies that we tell ourselves.
Speaker 10: But mostly it's about the Global League keeping the foot
Speaker 10: on the man, you know, hiding under the lies they
Speaker 10: you know, they tell. The truth begins to fade and
Speaker 10: and I think we can all relate to that, and
Speaker 10: I'm sure we're all tired of the lies.
Speaker 8: So all right, so we're gonna end with that track.
Speaker 9: But before we go, Adam, please let everyone know where's
Speaker 9: the best place to go online to keep up with
Speaker 9: everything that you're doing, everything that ever Felt is doing,
Speaker 9: any anything you want our listeners to know about.
Speaker 7: Yes, ever Felt dot net.

Speaker 8: All those songs, they've got these big epic endings. I
Speaker 8: love it. That is called The Lie and the band
Speaker 8: is ever Felt.
Speaker 9: That is from their self titled EP that just came
Speaker 9: out recently, I think last month actually, And thank you
Speaker 9: again to Adam Steglitz from from the band ever Felt
Speaker 9: for skyping in with us. They are in so I
Speaker 9: was I misspoke earlier. They're not from Chicago. They're actually
Speaker 9: in southern Illinois. I guess anybody from Illinois, I just
Speaker 9: assume they're from Chicago. I don't know why I should
Speaker 9: know better. I spent a lot of summers growing up
Speaker 9: in Chico, in uh, well, in Illinois, in the Chicago,
Speaker 9: but we were actually in a suburb called Schiller Park
Speaker 9: where my mom lived, so we weren't technically in Chicago,
Speaker 9: but we called the Chicago. But southern Illinois. I guess
Speaker 9: it is a little different anyway. But yeah, great great stuff.
Speaker 9: And of course in the first hour we had jam
Speaker 9: tomorrow with us coming up in the third hour, Doctor
Speaker 9: Bethany Billideau returns award winning Doctor by Is and we
Speaker 9: should so a couple things I want to make sure
Speaker 9: we mentioned this morning while we have time. You've got
Speaker 9: a big trip coming up.
Speaker 11: I do, But can I do my shout out first?
Speaker 7: Oh?
Speaker 8: Sure?
Speaker 11: I want to say a shout out to Jesse Coffee.
Speaker 11: If you see him this weekend. His birthday is tomorrow.
Speaker 11: You can catch him at the Great North Aleworks right
Speaker 11: here in Manchester on Holt Avenue. They've got a couple
Speaker 11: of new beers launched. It's raining Raspberry sour Ale is
Speaker 11: one of them, and pizza Party Italian Pilzar. You can
Speaker 11: also find that one there that was launched at Grante
Speaker 11: Con this year. So check out the Great North Airworks
Speaker 11: and give Jesse Coffee a big happy birthday. Yes, yay,
Speaker 11: so yes, I am heading back to Washington, d C.
Speaker 11: Next week.
Speaker 9: But this strip is a little different this Yeah, what
Speaker 9: do you mean, Well, it just seems like this one's
Speaker 9: a little different than your previous trips to Washington, d C.
Speaker 8: In terms of where you're going.
Speaker 11: Well, yeah, that's because I'm going to a big White House,
Speaker 11: A big White House, A big white house. Yes. Actually,
Speaker 11: I'm going to go to the White House and oh,
Speaker 11: sit on a panel and talk about healthcare and bring
Speaker 11: real stories to the table about what people in our
Speaker 11: everyday lives are facing.
Speaker 8: Yes, and hope to.
Speaker 11: Keep fighting for more change, for people to have more healthcare,
Speaker 11: because healthcare is not a partisan issue.
Speaker 8: So you'll be it, but he deserves it. You'll actually
Speaker 8: be at the White House.
Speaker 11: We'll actually be at the White House very close to
Speaker 11: the actually right near the West Ring, West Wing. I
Speaker 11: really have to stop doing that. I'm going to do
Speaker 11: that and be so embarrassed at myself.
Speaker 10: Oh.
Speaker 11: Yes, So I am going and I'm looking forward to
Speaker 11: it and looking forward to the people that are going
Speaker 11: to be on the panel with me. And I'm excited
Speaker 11: to invited speaker to the White House.
Speaker 7: To my.
Speaker 11: Yes.
Speaker 8: Yes, very cool, very cool.
Speaker 11: Yeah, so that's pretty fun.
Speaker 8: That'll be happening on Tuesday. Do you know if it
Speaker 8: will it? Will the event be streaming?
Speaker 9: I do not know.
Speaker 11: Actually I'll have to ask my handler.
Speaker 8: I'm sure there'll be video of it, but yeah, it'd be.
Speaker 9: Interesting, I would assume, so, yes, streaming live, that would
Speaker 9: be even very Yeah.
Speaker 11: That would actually be really cool. I'm gonna fly out
Speaker 11: Monday night, so I'll get the info when I arrive Tuesday.
Speaker 8: Outstanding. Well, congratulations on that, thank you.
Speaker 11: And also at the Mosaic Art Collective here in the
Speaker 11: Queen City, I am proud to say one of my
Speaker 11: paintings is probably hanging on their walls and celebration of
Speaker 11: their second year anniversary. And right now, if you gotta
Speaker 11: you want to get an entry in, you still got
Speaker 11: a moment, you know, get that last minute entry in.
Speaker 11: I think today is the deadline October or October Spellbound
Speaker 11: and this is going to be like a mythical, could
Speaker 11: be dark, could be multiple ways. Show that I'm really
Speaker 11: looking forward to at the Mosaic ar Colle definitely check
Speaker 11: them out here in the Queen City. Yes, but we've
Speaker 11: got a great thing, don't we.
Speaker 9: Yeah, well, do you want to talk a little bit
Speaker 9: about that? And then I'll read the details you because
Speaker 9: you were the point person on this too.
Speaker 7: Well.
Speaker 11: As you know, I fell in love with Paper Jam
Speaker 11: magazine as soon as I found them, Yes, and I
Speaker 11: love the people that put it together and all of
Speaker 11: the spotlights they bring to our great independent artists. I mean,
Speaker 11: it's they really have got something very special there. If
Speaker 11: you haven't checked out Paper Jam magazine, you really should.
Speaker 11: So I'm excited to say that Matt Content Unleashed is
Speaker 11: now partnering with paper Jam and we will be proud
Speaker 11: to feature their artists that they are highlighting in their magazine.
Speaker 11: And that's going to start next month. I believe it
Speaker 11: is sort the I believe so, Pil and I will
Speaker 11: forgive me for being bad on my my brain, my
Speaker 11: brain fog is kicking in here. Oh on having the
Speaker 11: correct date on it. But look forward to working with them.
Speaker 11: And actually you've got some information from paper Jam to
Speaker 11: is they're announced today that they're expanding a bit.
Speaker 9: They are, yes, So let's see they have a couple
Speaker 9: of new contributing writers. Let's see, they've got Catherine Miles
Speaker 9: who is from Fairfield County, Connecticut. She did a recent
Speaker 9: interview for a Paper Jam with the band Adrenalized, the
Speaker 9: Ultimate Deaf Leopard Tribute, so she's.
Speaker 8: Getting on board.
Speaker 9: And also John Bishop who is in New Hampshire right
Speaker 9: here in New Hampshire and did the interview with bf Raid.
Speaker 9: They're going to be on the show soon.
Speaker 11: And that's going to be the first run right there
Speaker 11: on November ninth. Yes, they're going to be here in
Speaker 11: studio interviewed with us. And they're also one of the
Speaker 11: featured artists in paper Jam Magazine that I'll be coming
Speaker 11: out right about that zact same time for the November
Speaker 11: December issue and from there on forward, we're looking forward
Speaker 11: to having more and more of their artists come in
Speaker 11: and be highlighted on the Matt Conaton on Leash show.
Speaker 8: Yeah.
Speaker 9: Absolutely, And if you're not familiar with pay Jam, check
Speaker 9: them out. You know, there is a physical you can
Speaker 9: they actually make physical copies, but you can find them
Speaker 9: online as well.
Speaker 11: And yeah, we had Sheila and at paper Jam magazine
Speaker 11: dot com.
Speaker 9: Yes, we had Shila Russo and yeah her husband is
Speaker 9: it Tom? Forgive me if I if I've got his
Speaker 9: name wrong.
Speaker 11: I see well on the spot all the time.
Speaker 8: Yeah yeah, but yeah, they were great and love what
Speaker 8: they're doing and it's great for the scene, you.
Speaker 11: Know, one hundred percent. We really do have a vibrant
Speaker 11: community in our state and actually in our region in
Speaker 11: New England in general. But it seems to me like
Speaker 11: it's there's more growth, there's more ways for people to
Speaker 11: get out there and be heard and be seen, and
Speaker 11: paper Jam is definitely a huge welcome to that process,
Speaker 11: along with the National and Midnight Creative Collective. Yes, and
Speaker 11: they've got an important event coming up Spelfy.
Speaker 8: Fast Healthy Fests, which we will be a part of, Yes.
Speaker 11: Which we were very proud to be a part of.
Speaker 11: And that's gonna be happening in November twenty fourth. We'll
Speaker 11: be talking about that more as it approaches. Yes, just
Speaker 11: a me music arts. Lots of great things going on.
Speaker 11: And they're also doing a fundraiser for RSDSA, which is
Speaker 11: an organization that advocates for people with Complex Regional pain
Speaker 11: syndrome CRPS.
Speaker 8: Yes, Yeah, lots of good stuff.
Speaker 11: Oh and and let's not forget. Let's not forget we
Speaker 11: have Swarmy Fasts coming up November two. I am so
Speaker 11: excited about this. We're gonna have, of course, swarm the steps.
Speaker 11: This is going to be coming in. We'll be seeing
Speaker 11: them gladly on the on the excuse me on the second.
Speaker 11: I have so many dates in my mind. Legion the
Speaker 11: Solace is gonna come in studio. Speed Demon Promotions is
Speaker 11: gonna come in studio. VIPs are gonna come in studio,
Speaker 11: I believe, and we will be live at the event broadcasting.
Speaker 8: On not on this one, not on WMN.
Speaker 11: It's yeah, we're gonna we're gonna do it from yeah,
Speaker 11: from a separate thing. But you guys will be able
Speaker 11: to go through Matt Carrington unleash to find that. Yeah,
Speaker 11: and what else is going on? Oh my gosh, and
Speaker 11: it was also the location is now.
Speaker 8: It's now at Taffaa and Lowell.
Speaker 11: There we go, which is a beautiful venue. Wow, I'm
Speaker 11: watching some video from there.
Speaker 9: Yeah I've never been there, but yeah, what looking at
Speaker 9: I saw a video as well, and yeah, it looks
Speaker 9: like a.
Speaker 8: Really nice place.
Speaker 11: I'm looking forward.
Speaker 9: It looks like it's actually bigger too than Jule. I
Speaker 9: can't be sure but from the video, but it looks.
Speaker 8: Like it might be.
Speaker 11: But a huge lineup of bands that aren't going to
Speaker 11: be there and all kinds of fun, definitely going to
Speaker 11: be worth doing.
Speaker 7: Well.
Speaker 9: Is a cool place too, because there's a there's a
Speaker 9: great college station there w U m l oh, Yeah,
Speaker 9: really really good college.
Speaker 11: You know a lot about the college station? I do,
Speaker 11: I do, Yeah, I get them all confused because they
Speaker 11: all have four letters and.
Speaker 8: Yeah, well, that's that's true of any radio station.
Speaker 11: Well, I know, but I don't know how you keep
Speaker 11: them all straight.
Speaker 8: Well, I have lists and databases and.
Speaker 11: Yeah, but you seem to rattle them off the top
Speaker 11: of your head. Oh that's a place where such a
Speaker 11: Slutch radio station as far.
Speaker 8: Yeah, well I've been doing it a while.
Speaker 11: I just love how much we have going on, Yes,
Speaker 11: just in our immediate area, and such amazing talent.
Speaker 8: We're really lucky, absolutely absolutely.
Speaker 11: We never run out of content. That's right, We never will.
Speaker 8: That's right.
Speaker 9: Well, let's do this, so as we approach the top
Speaker 9: of the hour, we do have doctor Bethany billideo from
Speaker 9: the Behavior boot Camp. We'll be joining us in the
Speaker 9: third hour. It will be her second appearance on the show.
Speaker 9: I also was on interviewed on her podcast and we
Speaker 9: had a great discussion. So we love doctor b and
Speaker 9: she just won yet another award, so we'll talk about that.
Speaker 9: But I think as we approach the top of the hour,
Speaker 9: we're gonna play one more track from ever Felt, because
Speaker 9: we talked about this song river and this is really
Speaker 9: really good. So let's give this a spin and then
Speaker 9: we'll see you in the third hour. But here it is,
Speaker 9: this is river and the band is ever felt.
Speaker 3: Sne the beaver sk with.
Speaker 4: No h.
Speaker 1: Real me.
Speaker 7: Real So my.
Speaker 6: Real job joined to read shone the joys.
Speaker 4: We know know knows we.
Speaker 1: Cause she knows the watch. We are a sound to stream.
Speaker 5: Be com.
